Hello everyone, so something funny happened today: So Rex doesn’t bark if I walk in with a stranger they can even play if I’m there but as soon as Ieave, it’s you and him. So Today my Cousin came to the house and as usual Rex was all friend cause I was outside with them and there were playing(in my mind I was like see security dog o) so after every they went inside and I stepped out of the house with a friend only to come back and hear that the same cousin was lightly mauled by Rex(Rex tore his cloth) and it was my younger brother that rescued him....honestly I laughed Also I’ve been having issues posting pictures of Bailey |

zeuss: That is a cute dog...the narrow head and small bones makes it a fast hunting breed. it is not a Caucasian though...but its furry genes means it will give a hairy cross....personal i dont like caucasians cos they are not very intelligent or smart breeds and they dnt make good house dogs cos of the size and fur shedding. I really prefer your dog. pls let me know when u have puppies. In terms of intelligence, I would say they're among the top intelligent dogs but don't have the agility of a gsd. Caucasian are security and family dogs....it's all about preference and reason for owning a breed though |

UniportAgbero: I followed your thread and I've just gotten a Caucasian, Zeus. He's just wonderful. He's 9 weeks old but doesn't eat any other food but Diamond puppy and canned pedigree beef. Hi There, he's just used to it so and that's why he doesn't eat any other food(although expensive it's good for him). You can introduce the food you desire to make him use to by putting little quantity among the one he already eats and then increase the amount with time. You will notice change in his poo cause of the change of diet. Also for his age the dog food is necessary cause it contains nutrients to help him grow well. I wish you the best with your furry friend. |

IamAnderson: that's good just keep on doing it and he'll learn, don't stop until you have total control over his behavior around food, still continue again when he's grown and more mature I don't think you should let Bailey disturb him while he's eating tho, he might harm her. try to chain them apart during feeding time.
oh and how's Bailey acting now? have you started training her to calm her down? Rex is just Meat Agressive not food Agressive Rex loves bailey, sometimes bailey even sleeps in his kennel but I think she has learnt to back off when Rex is eating his meat asides meat they're really cool with each other. Yes I have been trying to manage her Agressive nature and it's reducing but still the normal mouthing but she now knows how to control the bites a bit and she substitute with licks now. |

IamAnderson: try to stop simply handing the meat to him hold the meat and let him sit or lay down before you give him, also when you give him let him eat it while you hold it, if he tries to take it away or growl at you then take it and walk away. with time he'll understand he has to be well mannered or no treats, he's just acting like that because he really loves meat and he's testing your boundaries. I did this and it worked, now if my dog wants the meat in my hand he'll sit and wait for me to hand it to him before he takes it slowly and runs away with it to eat it were no one will disturb him . it's like you're scared of Rex don't let him see that, his testing is just beginning, if you don't assume the alpha role he'll only come harder for you when he's older. sometimes when he sets boundaries, break them and you'll see he's just testing how much power you have over him. when my dog went through this faze I used to ignore his grolws and remove whatever I wanted to remove from his mouth no matter how much he growled or snarled at me. it got easier later on, right now he allows me touch any part of his body anyhow I want, I also have free access to his mouth which helps me a lot during grooming or brushing It's actually working although he injured me by mistake now he just growls but when I collect it he just looks like please na But he still attacks bailey if she comes close when he's eating Meat |

So I have brought this up one time but still experiencing the same issue, Rex is Meat Agressive
Once you've handed meat to him he doesn't know anyone again....i thought it's something that he will grow out of but he's far from that.
Basically I can get bitten by Rex if I disturb his meat time but he's cool with food, I can put my hands in his mouth when he's eating his food and nothing but once it's meat it's totally different.
Tips on how to curb this? cause it's Dangerous for the new pup who like disturbing him and also for me |

Pets › Re: Diary of my Caucasian Roscoe by Dreazy23(m): 9:06am On Dec 17, 2019 |
IamAnderson: yeah different parts of his body started becoming bigger since he turned 10 months old. it started with his chest, one day I just noticed how wide his chest became and now it seems the wideness has spread to other parts lol.
about the parvo thing, around this time parvo cases are more frequent it's usually called parvo season so the best thing is to keep your dog inside till the harmattan is over. I've already seen multiple dogs die this period this year, keep your dog safe. That's amazing, Thanks for the parvo info. Definitely No more walks for now. |

Lordgatt: I guess its the cage he want to be free anytime I put him in the cage he is always aggressive that is what I thought if so, here's what i did for my dogs: make him comfortable with the idea of being in the cage, you can place his food inside with the door open for him to freely go in and come out, at the long run he will be comfortable with the idea of the cage. Secondly i think the bites are from boredom, how often do you play/tire him out? |

Lordgatt: What Can I do about my German shepherd he is just 11 month old but very aggressive to extent of bitting my neighbors hand any free chance he get to sneak out all he does is kill all the fowls he sees. What Can I do about this I'm tired already. Did you socialize and what prompted the bites? |
Pets › Re: Chronicle Of Rex And Roxy by Dreazy23(op): 7:19pm On Dec 15, 2019 |
IamAnderson: he will attack when he's older, he's still a pup Hopefully, I can see his territorial side kicking off so I'm not even really concerned about agression. |
Pets › Re: Chronicle Of Rex And Roxy by Dreazy23(op): 7:17pm On Dec 15, 2019 |
IamAnderson: ask him if he can take the dog anywhere or go for any dog walk event or even go see a vet. does that kind of dog seem like something that's good now?
my dog is still very aggressive to intruders like his but the difference is that mine is level headed when he needs to be, I can walk him comfortably, noise and crowds don't trigger him and he knows when to be aggressive and when to be calm and when to attack. which type of behaviour would you prefer your dog having? Definitely a level headed dog, no one wants a psychopath for a dog |

So we got another pup(bailey) she's different!!! Bailey has inflicted more injuries on me that Rex and Roxy combine....she is not calm at all. He disturbs Rex so much that Rex which doesn't allow Roxy near his food allows her eat his food just so she would leave him alone. She mouths alot and so agressive we can't even leave her for long with Rex cause we fear Rex might just switch and kill her...she behaves similar to Roscoe, when he was little were you able to reduce the aggression or you just worked with it. She has been with us for 3 weeks or so (She's so agile we didn't even do leash and collar training) She's just 3months old also |

IamAnderson: that show's he's well socialized, you should be happy he's calm like this outside, do you want to be dragging with a dog on the road?,not every dog owner has that convenience if you want to test him then chain him and get someone he doesn't know to enter the compound and take something and see how he'll react. because he's stable outside doesn't mean he has forgotten his territoriality He's very territorial though but doesn't attack, he has chased workers out of the compound etc but he's level head |
