Ajlolly: I am a victim of wrong diagnosis, b4 I got married in 2009 my hubsand&I went 2 check my genotype in 2 diff labs & i was given AA& my hubby AS.I didn't know I was AS until I was 4months pregnant wen I went 4 antenatal, we went back 2 d 2 labs where we were initially given AA&did it again and was given AS. Wen we show dem d result of d 1st test dey were jst begging us, so we resigned to faith couple wit d explanation my doc gave me dat it 1 out of 4 children dat 'll be ss not knowing dat its one over four of every pregnancy, I had my son in 2010 & unfortunately he has scd. Initially he has crisis almost every week and was place on hydroxyria by an heamotologist.Thks God he has been doing fine since den, he is 2yrs old now&very healthy. He doesn't look like someone living with scd.

Does anyone know if excessive water intake as any negative impact on ones health?

Years ago, on a very sunny day, I got dehydrated, and began craving for water, in less than 12hrs, I drank 25Litres of water(I had water in a 25litres keg and it got exhausted within 12hrs )
I kept peeing at intervals and couldn't eat as I was filled.
That very evening, I became dizzy and had to go see my doctor, the doctor insisted I stayed back at the hospital for "observation" though I wasn't given any medication but the doctor said taking excess Water isn't good for me.
But since then, I've not had a reoccurence of such, but I drink water adequately.

Can anyone explain what was wrong with me back then?

queen binte o: Reminds me of masef as a child,avoid takin ma folic acid n paludrine until crisis set in. Now as an adult. I take dem religiously. Dunno what to do about my own weight(I weigh far above 60kg) and I live with SCD!

I've been running windows 8 on my pc for over a month now, and all I can say is(from my experience)
1. I haven't experienced any problem with lack of software/hardware/driver support
2. The full functionality is best enjoyed when there's internet connectivity
3. All my applications(which I used on windows 7) runs perfectly on windows 8.

I also noticed that the window's GUI usability ιѕ limited for pc's with small screens(e.g mini laptops, notebooks etc). This is due to the screen resolution such pc has.

In all I enjoy using Windows 8.

Btw I disagree that "Windows 8 is a modified version of Windows 7"

The word "sickler" sounds demaining to me. I'm not a sickler, I only live with SCD!

I doubt if he was properly trained before obtaining the private pilot licence; if he was, he should have known that the hired pilot was right- at least they went through same training, abi? #justasking

Abali1: The Doctors opinion is just what it is.... An opinion (yes with theories). If you already have a child with SCD don't give up on him/her cos there is a whole lot of beautiful life experiences awaiting that child.

Parent with SCD child(ren) should not give up on them. They are unique in their own special way.There is no other person in all the world who is exactly like that child! They are different and special. Parents shouldn't stop encouraging and motivating them to follow their dreams. They are human like everyone else!

Taking lot of fluid(water) is very crucial for people with SCD, eating "fresh" fruits and vegetables is important too, cut down on sugary things(if possible-dont take it at all! )

Your age/size/looks shouldn't affect your self esteem, your self esteem should come from within you. Work on that and you'll be fine

@OP; CORRECTION- the recharge cards were not distributed in AKURE, it was distributed in Akoko, during the ACN rally there last week.
And YES it is true, the cards were "thrown" from an helicopter!

While, on 15th October(monday) during the ACN final rally in Akure, ACN party chieftains(including Tinubu), had a stop over at Adegbola Junction(after the rally)to "spray cash", this is true and no be "dem say, dey talk....."
