Good evening.
Just now, I didn't greet my dad after eating my dinner. Not that I don't want to but each time I try, the words hook in my throats. Note that I'm not a stammerer, neither does it happen in my mom's case. Just like this morning, I walked past my dad without uttering a word of greeting. He later complained about it not realizing that I actually wanted to, but the words just didn't flow.

Meanwhile, my father is a strict man, and has succeeded in instilling fear in me towards him when I was a boy. He would scold and flog me thoroughly if I make any slightest mistake. This has savoured the relationship I have with him.

Furthermore, he has anger issue, so tends to dish out instructions with a harsh voice. There's no father and son discussion between us. The little talk we do have is usually done standing. I'm sorry to say that he lacks humour too. You might end up annoying while trying to make him jolly.

I'm really concerned because I'm his first child and only son. I need to make things right.

Lemme use this opportunity to share my experience expecially now that this chidinma and late afaga saga is circulating the media.
When I was in school, a federal University in the south west I was a friend to a girl, her name is Evelyn but her middle name is chidinma, very pretty and fair Igbo. When you see her, you would be wondering if she's an half caste but her both parents are pure igbos. She came from a broken family as well just as the chidinma saga but the only difference is that she and her other siblings lived with her money while the father was away from them.
During my friendship with her, I noticed lots of things about her. She date numerous guys, even dating international guys, aside local guys. She confound in me alot telling me about men she was hooked up with. There was a day she told to help her look for an hotel for her cos she got a hook up date from Ghana coming to Nigeria, I couldn't do that cos I wasn't around. The guy came from Ghana and he spent some few days before going back. This girl was raking in money because she gets lots of hooks all the time
What I'm trying to bring out here is that a lot of girls in Nigeria are typical example of chidinma in the murder saga.
Parents need to train their daughters with values and decipline. Train them in the way of the lord and train them to be contended with what they have.
It's been 3 years since I graduated from school, we were in same level but different department and she hasn't yet graduated.
Most girls that involved in this always loose academic focus and began to have extra years or have to sort sex for grade to graduate. About majority of girls in higher institutions are typical example of chidinma.
So what's the way forward to contain this menace in our society?

Nothing much you can do except to keep your eyes glued to the dashboard regularly for the oil warning light.

Toyota is extremely lazy for not incorporating auto engine shutoff at low oil warning many especially sienna owners and highlander owners have been so unfortunate. You were only lucky it wasn't highway driving if not no be wetin we dey talk now, you for dey yarn story

Yes I had to end my friendship with my once very good friend because she saw nothing wrong in dating someone who used to be so interested in me,that I turned him down isn't enough reason for her to date him,there are so many other guys she can date and it shows the guy does not genuinely love her else he wouldn't have come for me in the first place. I have been married for 11 years now with beautiful and lovely two daughters. I do love my family with the whole of my heart, they are my world and pride and I bless God for His provision, Grace and love upon us as a family all these years.

The reason I am writing this is because most times I really do miss those single days as a bachelor. Back then I can hang out with my pals in the club especially on weekends and have the best of fun without any thoughts of worrying/rushing home to be with the family. The feeling is so breath taking (un-imaginable), the only thing u think of is just urself and urself alone, do whatever u want to do and go wherever u want to go just like a bird in the air no restrictions. But as a family man all those privileges are gone and gone for good.

My reason for writing this "sometimes I miss single hood" was because my wife got me so upset last night that she almost made me hit her but I didn't (though she has apologize) and I have forgiven her. I was hanging out with some of my friends and colleagues yesterday and it's really been long we had such gathering/fun since everyone is now married with family and responsibilities. My wife called me to know when I will be home because I don't stay out late at most 7:30 or 8:00pm am home, but as at yesterday some minutes past 9:00pm my wife called me to know where I was and when I will be home; I told her am with my pals that I will be coming home late, she can go to bed without waiting up.

Myself and my friends really had good time together, discuss a lot and celebrated each other. And after everything we all parted ways and before I got home was some minutes past 11:00pm thinking my wife will be asleep by then since I told her not to wait up. Lo and behold I got home open the door and saw my wife sitting in the sitting room with so much hanger on her facial expression, I was surprised she was still awake after Ieting her know I will be coming home late. The next thing she does was greeted me with annoying toon, took my bag from me angrily and took it to d bedroom which she always does when I returned from work. I know she was hangry but I didn't expect her to be angry at all, so I went to d room straight to the bathroom and took my bath.

When I was through bathing, I went to Check on my kids in their room they where far asleep, I just gave them good night peck and straight to the sitting room. Normally we always stay together in the sitting room play have fun and watch some family TV shows together before bed time. I was listening to some cool jams on TV because I was a little bit tipsy after the hang out I just wanted to listen to some soft and easy jamz to calm me down before going to bed. While relaxing my wife came from the room and started yelling at me saying I have gotten a new girl outside and planning to destroy our Union. Sincerely speaking I was shocked and disappointed at her shallow reasoning never expected such from her. I thought she was on something (drugs) but she wasn't and she has never been on such before.

After all her yelling and accusations which I allowed her to express herself (though I was almost tempted to hit her but I restrain myself) l asked her if she was through with her accusations but she didn't respond. I told her that I am truly disappointed in her for her foolish and childish behavior/reason. Truth be told I haven't cheated on my wife sine we got married and I don't plan or intend to do that. After talking some sense into her she started crying and apologized which I truly forgave her. All she needs was just that trust and confidence from her man no matter what and which I gave to her.

Sorry for the long write up, all am trying to say is there is joy in single hood and a more greater joy in being married with family, believe me am speaking from experience. As a single guy/lady enjoy ur single hood because that's all u have got now, because when u are married all that will be left will just be memories of good old single days. But trust me u will enjoy martial life more especially when u are married to ur soulmate. Though sometimes u will miss the good old days of single hood which is normal, but it is nothing to be compared with a happily built home.

Op, I worked in a hotel for 6 years before deciding that the job is not for me anymore.
There is nothing hidden under the sun that I've not seen or heard before....
I personally think everyone should have the "hotel work experience" Because the job will prepare your mind to always expect the unexpected.
In my 6 years of working in a hotel, I've seen things that have changed my life and my psychology , I've seen things that can destroy marriages, businesses, familes etc.

It was a wonderful experience but I just decided that I was done with it and needed to move on.

Thankfully, I saw this. There's a funny trap along okota road/ago palace way junction. On getting to the junction, there is a long arrangement of cones on the road, dividing it into two. If you're coming from Oshodi-Apapa express way or Ijesha going towards Ikotun always keep to your right. Don't drag with anybody. Just maintain your right up till you get to the roundabout.

If you don't understand that place, you may find yourself on the left side of the cones. When this happens, just turn left into ago palace way and make a U-turn at 250 metres or so. Forget about the traffic or your rider who may be shouting at you. Don't try to be smart and turn back right in between the cones else you would become soup for lastma/police.

Even if there's no traffic, don't turn and try to zoom off. Believe me, they will give you a hot chase!!

Some riders will be gracious enough to direct you well. I notice male riders are more eager to help a driver avoid pitfalls like this.
