Good afternoon House,

Am a bit rusty as per the IW process

Am trying to apply for my uncle and aunt who wish to travel to visit their daughter and her family in the US. They have been there before sometimes in 2019. Their initial visa was granted Nov 2018 and it expired October 2020.

I know the rule is for 2 yrs post visa expiry but considering that there is scarcity of IW dates since July (read this here not sure if this is true), can their own case be forgiven and allowed to apply for IW?

Thanks

Good day,

No need for invitation letter.

Hope Ur sister and her husband's her citizens? Or they have permanent residence (green card)?

If so, they should just familiarise with the answers they filled in their DS 160 and they should be good.

They should know when they travelled, how long they have been married, what's their children's (grandchildren) are, where they work etc.

With that they should be okay and their visas will be issued. They are going for a visit of some weeks I guess.

Goodluck

This is so pathetic. The prices have never really increased. The economy is in a shit hole.

I pray we get ourselves out of this soon enough else. Some analysts are prediction a dollar rate of 1000 to a dollar by year's end or by May 29, 2023.

I don't even bother myself with all the presidential aspirants hoping to lead the country next year. They have their work thoroughly cut out for them. Maximum 6 months, my people don't see any action, they turn on u straight. Their own rate of hate will be faster than the present one's own coz of the heavy expectations.

It is well. Just try to use the good African airlines or the middle East for now.

This is quite commendable. This will be better for u. Hope the person is a direct relation? Parents, spouse or child? If sibling, this takes a long time to process like upwards of at least 15yrs.

If it's direct, the wait isn't that long something of months to under 2 yrs.

Just state the inflow in Ur cover letter and reference it as one of the rental payments u receive from Ur property. If u have a receipt u issue to the tenant, better. Just make sure the name on the receipt matches the name on the inflow line (description, if any) on the statement and it should be issued around the same date as the inflow shown on the statement.

Goodluck

Preshyi:
Please I need clarification on the bolded. For instance, If you have a property where you collect rent and have savings from it but the rent inflow reflects at the same period cos rent is paid annually in Nigeria. This is also close to the application time. Eg Rent paid in July and application is in August. What's the best way to explain and prove it in your application?

Anyone can respond please.

Good evening,

Well it depends on how u present Ur financials during Ur application to the VO.

From Ur yearly salary,I can deduce u earn about 100k per month (am assuming this is net and not gross)

This amount can prolly only support a single individual and u can barely save anything on it.

The best is to declare the two accounts but u will need to write cover letter about the second account and how the money was amassed. Explain the biggest amounts and set a pattern. If u have copies of receipts/ cheques to back Ur claims, u shud be good. Overall calculate the amount u want to spend on the trip. Spend like 10 days. 1.2M max (out of the 5M) should be tidy if Ur using an hotel accomodation.

Goodluck

Preshyi:
Please if you earn about 1.3m salary a year but have a personal saving of over 5m from other hustles. Will that raise eyebrows in your Visitor visa application?

Dear Manydethink,

I think the VO couldn't make out the deposits in your account. The VOs prefer if u present a salary account. This way, things are pretty straightforward. It seems u also use Ur salary account for Ur side business. They would be wondering why?

So it's best u separate the accounts and decide which ones u want to use for Ur visa application. Explain any deposits that are irregular in the intro letter and u should be good providing Ur income is also good for the application.

Also there was mention of Ur use of address. Can't really pinpoint it but u will need to address this too in the letter.

Goodluck

Hello everyone, I posted my visit visa refusal letter on this page some months back. I also asked advice concerning the student route.
I plan to apply in few weeks time for the dependent visa alongside my husband(MA) (by this, I understand he is going for a Master's in Arts program)

The issues;
1. Do I need to write an introductory letter to address the recent refusal or just let go?

( If certain issues were raised during the last refusal and those issues are still pertinent in this upcoming application, then u will need to address it. Also if it's the same visa class)

2. I mentioned my 3 kids in the last application, now we are applying with just two kids . Should, I still mention my first , though he isn’t traveling with us? Also, is my hubby supposed to mention him as his step-child in his own application?

Honesty is the best policy. Just still list the 3 kids but explain the circumstances and why he is not going with u guys and how he is to be taken care of

3. My ex submitted a settlement/dependent application for my first child, we are waiting for his passport to come out... hope it won’t be a problem to this application?

Wait till the passport comes out to know your next action(s)

4. Lastly, I’m still a stay at home mom... I hope this won’t affect my application negatively.
Please,advise accordingly.Thank you.

(U will be applying with Ur husband who I guess fends for the family, so I guess this shouldn't be a problem as long as Ur husband can support u guys well enough and prove it. It's not an offence to be a stay at home mum.)

For visit visa, they rarely ask u to show proof of funds and assets. They ask questions based on what u filled on Ur application form. What u do, where Ur going to in the US and why?

Visa Alert!!!
10 years Standard Visitor visa
TLS Ikeja

Previous UK travel history (6 months)
Application and payment date - 31st May 2022
Biometrics date - 9th June 2022
Transfer to DMC - 9th June 2022
Received by DMC - 14 June 2022
Transferred to VAC - no mail, no information as per tracking
Received by VAC - no mail, no information as per tracking
Collection Mail - Twice on 13th & 14th July 2022
Collected - Today, 15th July 2022

Interestingly the Visa was issued 5th of July (a day before the proposed travel date of 6th of July). So they tried for me to make my trip but perhaps the TLS logistics failed them. Painfully I forgot to cancel my hotel booking and was debited cry

I was honestly worried I might not be given 10 years especially because I went straight from 6 months, but I was just tired of what I went through while renewing my passport and the chaos I witnessed when driving pass the TLS Ikeja earlier this year; it was pure madness. So decided to be out of the mess for 10 years; and boom it paid off.

Key points:
I was very open and truthful; I was once denied a Canada visa and I was open about it. I stated I do not understand why the visa was denied but I believed the visa officer must have made an error in denying me the Canada visa.
I explained every transaction not supported by my payslip; including ATM reversals of 10k - i was that detailed.
I had a good bank balance and was ready for them.
I believe I have a good job as well - this is relative though.

This experience has proven that you can go straight for 10 years from 6 months; but I will still not advice anybody to do it as the visa officer has the right to reduce the length of visa granted. I would say I was lucky with my gamble.

Please if you want to pickup your passports, please go early ooo, I was there for over 3 hours. the queue was out of this world.

Thanks and have a good evening. See you in 10 years grin grin grin

Good day

Sorry for ur refusal and the counter refusal

Its not an easy thing to digest.

From what I can see, ur application was done in a rush and not well presented as u have ingredients for them to consider and issue you a visa.

U have a business but u didn't submit business bank statements of any kind but only ur salary account which looks like it was hurriedly put together. From what the VO is implying, he was hoping to calculate ur disposable income from the statement but the transactions were negligible. They often wonder why u didn't send in the other previous two months statements so as to compare with the other four months u put forward. It's either the account was recently opened or u are hiding something or activity in those ones. The bank balance in the Providus Bank was arrived at just to make it look as if money is available for the trip but not minding the milestones for it to reach there.

Now u submitted bank letters which are neither here or there. U didn't even attach one bank statement to show some traction in ur business. This makes it look like the business is inactive. Likewise, u didn't show rent or lease receipts and their entrance point in ur account statement to show they also are an ongoing concern (well of the reason u bought was for tenancy). Are the land docs u showed registered with the state government?

So to me, all the figures, bank statements, bank letters and land doc were made to look like a lot is going on but all (to the eyes of the VO) but they all landed in the middle of the desert (nowhere)

Ur case isn't bad at all. Just take ur time, build ur bank statement showing salary entrance and also outflows for living costs and the savings and u should be good. If ur submitting CAC papers, also submit statements if ur business has traction, if not just limit it to ur personal bank statement. Submit ur land docs and state whether it's for personal use or for investment and show receipts to back it up. I guess ur single and going alone so ur travellings cost should be moderate.

Goodluck

Africankel:
Dear friends,

Recall that on June 7, 2022, I was refused a visit visa and subsequently requested for reconsideration. On July 7, 2022, I received an email that my application was being reconsidered. Today, July 15, 2022, I received a decision on the reconsideration - another laughable refusal. grin grin grin

The decision

I have refused your application for a visit visa because I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of paragraph(s) 4.2 of Appendix V.

You applied for a six months visit visa on 12 April 2022 to visit the UK for tourism and your application was refused on 31 May 2022.

You submitted a formal complaint to contest the grounds of your refusal. I acknowledge that the previous refusal contained factual errors, I have therefore reconsidered your application. This reconsideration is based on the information you provided when first submitting your application. I have also taken in to consideration your objections and our previous decision.

You state that you intend to visit the UK for 10 days for tourism. You state that you are a self-employed director and earn 6,000,000.00 NGN a year (£12,117.72 @ exchange rate £1 = 495.14 NGN). I acknowledge that you have provided business registration documents and bank letters from Guaranty Trust Bank, Globus Bank and Stanbic Bank to demonstrate your business. I also acknowledge the covering letter you have submitted. Whilst I acknowledge that the bank letters state that you have business accounts with them, there are no corroborating bank statements from these banks to demonstrate any transactions or that show any business activity. You have provided a Providus bank statement which has a closing balance of 1,801,366.00 NGN (£3,639.83) and covers a four month period, with a limited transaction history, from January 2022 to April 2022 and contains salary credits of 500,000.00 NGN (£1,017.39). However, I am not satisfied that these salary credits in isolation demonstrate that your business is active or trading or that it is generating the income you have described. I am not satisfied that your application demonstrates your employment or financial circumstances as stated and this leads me to doubt your intentions for visiting.

In addition to this I am not satisfied that your application demonstrates family ties or that you have any dependents who are reliant on you. I acknowledge you have provided a document of a property purchase made in 2014, however, I am not satisfied that this property is being utilised by you in any way or that it is generating an income for you. I am not satisfied that your application demonstrates that you have strong personal ties or have assets of a nature that would satisfy me that you would leave after your visit.

Based on the above I am not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that you are a genuine visitor and intend to leave the UK at the end of your proposed stay or that you are visiting for the reasons stated.

Your application is therefore refused under paragraph V 4.2 (a) and (c) of the Immigration Rules.

Good day,

Pls u can invite and accommodate ur brother but u would adding a layer of suspicion on his person if u will assume the responsibility to sponsor him since he is a businessman as u said.

He will need to proof to the VO his personal circumstances and ties to Nigeria first before they consider him for the visa.

Am guessing he's over 21 so let him submit his documents that proves his ties. Personal bank statement, business account statement, taxes, investment certificates and landed property documents.

Good day,

Hmmm....American frowns at ur non-usage of ur very first visa. I don't know why but maybe coz they would have used ur visiting them to profile u.

Be that as it may, thank God ur going to the UK. Forget mentioning about US visa though the VO might see it on ur passport (if it's the same passport u will be using). On the application, they only ask which countries u have been to and not the ones uv gotten visas for unless u write about it in the additional information section. Pls don't write about it at all as now the VO would be wondering why u didn't go and be filling their head with ideas.

Just list the other countries uv been to and have a good salary and bank statement and u should be fine.

Goodluck

Good day

Sorry about ur refusal. U can reapply as soon as u feel u have corrected every issue raised during ur refusal.

As for the non usage of ur business account, maybe ur business profile at CAC is inactive or maybe u stated ur going for a personal visit and the entries in ur business account were not adding up. Probably trying to calculate ur disposable income which they couldn't measure with ur business account.

For documents, look for those that can give u ties to the country like property docs, shares certificates, fixed income certificate, investment certificate

Others are 6 months personal or salary bank statements, tax payments, marriage certificate (if any). Try to explain any irregular amounts on ur bank statement. Also get an hotel booking

Goodluck

Giselle,

Twale....Ur head dey there

Gospel truth (truth)

One kola nut for u.

giselle237:
The truth is a great number of people that want to apply for UK visas, if you let them know that they need a few months to arrange their bank statements, and/or reduce their monthly expenses they get angry and feel you are saying nonsense. They rush there, get a refusal and come back to complain.
Also what people refuse to understand is that there are certain salary amounts that wont cut it anymore. In the past yes 170k to 200k..
by the time you bring in monthly expenses of say 50k you are left with a disposable income of 120-170k(what do you want to sponsor with this?)
Also in the past yes showing acct balance of 600k yess… but things have changed… exchange rate has skyrocketed and this profile has a lot of disadvantages. If you talk again, they will say noo.it’s not possible. .. they can apply.
ECO knows if you come here and see a better paying job, in the blink of an eye you will abandon that your 170k job which is the fact… so why give you the visa?
Again this period, I dont know if it’s attributable to the deplorable state of what’s goin on in Nigeria but it’s obvious applicants for UK have increased and whether anyone likes it or not, things have changed.
So many.. in fact the way the ECOs are going… you should not just wake up today and say tomorrow you are going to apply for UK visa if you have not done your homework.
Virgin passports will get the visa but believe it or not travel history(significant country) does count.
Infact these days, ECO is wondering why you will just wake up and decide it’s UK you want to go to when you have never visited anywhere else
There are so many many things tht work for A that won't work for B. Do your homework first before embarking on this journey. I personally have had a time where I had to sit down and analyze my financial situation/home ties and use months to upto a year to correct any confusions. .. but this is because I knew I had a profile that could be tweaked a little.
Some do not have and do not want to accept the truth. … herein lies the problem
There are also those with millions … but whose millions have been obtained in a confusing manner who need to sit down as well and do some arranging… if you say wait a little… problem
This is only part 1, which covers half of the financial ties… if we decide to go into why uk visas are refused we will sleep here and derail this thread.

Good day

So sorry to about ur refusal.

Am not sure what u wrote about the dorm account in ur cover letter about the $5K though the VO mentions something above that amount (£6.6K). Where are the source of these funds? Did it come in tranches or a one time gbem?

Am guessing the VO chose to overlook this dorm statement because there were some unclear things there. She then focused on ur access bank statement which am guessing is ur salary account and ur payslips and the inflows and outflows and then the balance.

U earn 345K a month and living costs of 140K leaving u with disposable income of about 205K. Ur proposing to spend 968K which is about 5 times ur disposable while u have a bank balance of probably only ur April salary (345K) in ur account. This doesn't add up hence the VO wielding the axe.

U were expecting the norm account to bail u out but instead the VO focused on the naira account.

It's not that bad. Just reapply when ur account is robust enough to accommodate ur trip. Don't bother using ur norm account except if u can clarify the amounts in it

There seems to be something about this income bracket of 250-350K ( just like the guy with the earlier refusal letter) and getting it right with the rules. Some get it but some don't.

Pls @Askari could help here with how to help get the right values for the rules.

Take ur time and reapply addressing the issues

Goodluck

Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by DrStrangelove: 7:01pm On Jul 14, 2022
Good day Kel,

Sorry about ur refusal. From what I can see, there are several red flags in there that any VO wouldn't overlook.

1. Ur living costs are too low for a family of three ( since u stated ur wife and child in there). 45K a month? How? (£89)? Is it feeding, transport costs, child care/food/consumables, phone bills, cable etc. Except am living under a rock somewhere else, this is unexplainable. Am guessing u deliberately made that low enough to make ur disposable income high to fit into the 3 months disposable income rule. If u were single, we can understand but not a family of three pls. Was the 45K the average across the six months of ur bank statement? Or it showed up only in about some months prior to the end while the real livings costs showed on the earlier months? The numbers were not adding up to the VO as against ur living costs

2. What exactly did u tell the VO about ur family disagreement? U didn't need to tell that in the application. It's not their business. Now u got the VO wondering about ur low budget, low living costs plus not visiting ur family all together. Something is fishy.

The application seems not well put together hence ur free to reapply again (hence no appeal) which is a good thing.

Forget about saying in ur new application that ur brother is helping u with money (red flag that ur work might not be well paying enough). Remember ur a Senior Manager. Save well and fix ur disposable income and living cost issue before u reapply. Take ur time and build a robust account. Remember, u have submitted ur payslips, bank statements and employment details so any sharp deviation will be noticed.

Before I continue, I will like to salute ur courage in bringing ur refusal letter here. It helps and means a great deal to all. Wish u the very best on ur next application.

From what I have noticed, there are other factors at play other than oanda rates (don't know why my keyboard keeps typing oando) and not less than three times disposable income in the Finances section of the application. This section is very important as also the Travel History section. I believe this sections give u the visa or not. That's why most emphasis are on these in the refusals I have seen so far. That said, most, like 85% of applicant's financial situation are a mess or not visa worthy as at the time they decide they want to apply for a visa. They will need to adjust their spending habits and inflow/outflow or boost and wait out months to conform to the oanda and 3 months disposable rule. Most earn under 300K a month. The next 10% are sort of lucky as they have good paying jobs and their statements can fit into those two rules easily without breaking their backs. The remaining 5% don't need those two rules. The rules, visas (talking of UK only) and VOs will be the ones to conform to their bank statements/assets/deposit accounts.

Let's focus on the 85%. They are ones that come here (many are ghosts and don't participate in the commentaries) for help and we should be able to guide them in all lengths. No two applicants statements are the same. We can't only use a blanket advice on those two rules for them as there are other elements in their statements that are lacking. For example, the above applicant, even Giselle was exclaiming that na wa o, that the guy should get travel history. Travel History came into play when the financials were not okay even when applying those two rules. The guy doesn't need to travel anywhere else, he just needs to reapply well. There was another guy from the former posts who had big money like 13M or so in his account that followed the same rules but was refused. So my point is let the applicants state other factors like factors in their financials like opening balance, average monthly spend, salary or personal account, unexplained income etc so that we can dovetail into the situation and advice.

Many applicants don't return here to say what they went thru, some come back in ghost mode, some return to shed more light on their refusals (God bless them) while some come to give the good news. Bad news na orphan. Most of 85% will need those rules as they are skirting on the periphery of the VO's evaluation especially if they have families. Singles are much luckier. Then again another observation, the salaried applicants have less wriggle room as opposed to business owners and self employed applicants.

Pls sorry for the long read, these are my own 2 Kobo. Pls be welcome to add or subtract. Thanks

Goodluck

We have now sort out our Family misunderstanding and he will be Sponsoring me on my new application. I am planning to Spend 10days during my tourism trip, 2 Days in Manchester to see my brother and stays at his place and 8 Days in London for Tourism and staying in an hotel.

My brother is willing to Sponsor me with £1550. I would also like to include an amount to the expense from my part.

Please guys my question is how much can I add from my side due to my Financial situation stated in the refusal attached?

Any other advice to fix this refusal, will be appreciated, thanks.

Good day,

Looks like Ur good to go funds wise.

Fill all applications truthfully.

The UK visa should be the one to go for first.

Submit Ur marriage certificate to explain the difference in surnames that appears in Ur passports

Submit all the documents u listed and explain any unusual inflows in Ur accounts.

Calculate flights+hotel+pocket money for the four of u against the money u have in Ur account.

For Ur wife, u can explain that she's a housewife/Home maker while that of Ur sister is a little bit tricky. Have u guys all travelled together before? Or u and Ur sister? Does she have any travel history? If so, what were the things she wrote in those applications if they for first world countries? U can attempt to write to write an Introductory letter that Ur responsible for her for this travel and have been up till this time. Is she Ur only sibling?

If Ur well funded, submit only Ur own financials.

How easy will it be to get required visas(my wife retained her dad's name though we have a registry issued marriage cert) and i work with an IOC. I have bank statements, statement for shares, payslips, employment letters etc. Our host in UK is also willing to share neccesary docs to proof his adress.

Which of the Visa should we apply for first?
My fear is for my wife and sister who i will be paying for as they do not have their own income stream.

Secondly how much is this likely to cost(first time traveller)

Good day,

Let me hazard a guess. The back to back refusals might be because of an existing ban which is still active as at the last refusal.

To be sure, if u can paste the contents of the 2 refusals here (u can redact important details u want left out of course)

With this we would be able to know what went wrong.

Or Giselle pointed out, u or Ur lawyer can request a SAR (Subject Access Request) from UKVI to shed more light on the matter.

It's better u start from here before making another visa application.

Goodluck

I had a son who is British citizen for a British partner but the father is not responsible for him. He only got him a British passport. I left the uk when he was 6months back to Nigeria. I applied to go to uk a year after but was refused a uk visa on d ground that I did not pay NHS bill when I had my baby. I contacted NHS and they set up a payment plan for me and I have not defaulted in payment. I pay every month. I applied for a uk visa this year and was still refused and my son is 8 years he wishes to return back to uk. Does it mean that my chances of ever goin to d uk is over what can I do. I even got NHS to write me a letter to the embassy still they refused me . Am thinking of reapplying

Good day

It's fine. Get Ur six months visa and when that's over, u can apply for Ur 2 year visa.

It didn't reduce anything.

U could have applied for 2 year straight since u have done 6 months twice but as uv already put in for 6 months, don't sweat.

There should be any worries

Goodluck

Hello House, please I have a question.

I have good travel history, I schooled in Asia and Europe and I've been to the UK twice before on a 6-month visa.

The last time I visited the UK was in 2012 and I just reapplied for a UK visa from Nigeria because I now work and live here. However, I applied for a 6-month visa and I'm thinking if I should have just applied for a 2-year visa instead. Would this have reduced my chance of getting it again? Or should I just wait and visit the UK again that's if I get this 6 months visa and then reapply for a 2-year visa once it expires?

I also think they are worked by the same VO. Am guessing re-alignment happens at the DMC when the dockets reach there. The applications can get there in any order but once the first one gets to the VO, there's a mechanism in place that lets him/her know there is another application coming to join the first one. Either the tagging is done from the VAC when they are preparing the first application to go out or there is some flag on their system at the DMC (remember we fill the form online and it we include the people going with us) that informs the VO to pend and await the remaining co-applications which they can trace from the portal right from the appointment portal down to submission and logistics.

In my own case, I did my submission on a Thursday and it went sent to the DMC the next day Friday. My wife went to submit the following Tuesday and the package got to the DMC later in the day. We got alerts the same time that our application is being worked on and also got decision alerts same day about same time.

Now the return logistics might be screw up now though we got our return packages same day.

Goodluck

I don’t think so. I think they’re treated by the same Eco except they went for biometrics on different days. I used to think they’re being treated by different eco’s but I have first hand experiences of 3 cases. I applied with my family (5 of us). I’m the principal applicant. We did biometrics together & our checklist and passport copies were binded together. After few weeks, I started sending paid emails. The day I got decision has been made for one person was the day I got decision made for everyone. Unfortunately I got collection mail for 3 & the 2 others are yet to get theirs. What might have happened? My take here would be from dhl and vac. These passports are returned individually & there are specific days VAC’s mail out collection letters to avoid overcrowding or due to shortage of staffs. Passports are returned individually but does not necessarily mean, applications are treated the same (there is a chance though) but from my experience, my brothers & another family that I know of… I think it’s usually treated by the same Eco

Good day

Pls ur uncle can use the account to apply. The opening balance will be hefty to start with and that will show natural progression to the 150M.

Since he is a businessman, he should be ready to prove to the VO the kinda business he's involved in and to show some transaction evidences (probably pertaining to some heavy inflows in the bank statement).

Also company registration, company income tax returns (if that's available and genuine), any company partnerships or distributorship docs (as may apply) and also an introduction letter may suffice. He can also provide proof of investments like real estate, FGN bonds or fixed deposit/investment account.

For businessmen who doesn't have a salary based account, I will always recommend a savings/fixed deposit/investment account as opposed to just ordinary bank account statement. The VOs tend to assume on Ur behalf and not get the drift going on in Ur account.

Poster, With the above docs highlighted above and the 150M bank statement, Ur uncle is good to go.

Goodluck

I’m posting this for my uncle who plans on traveling to UK next month

He has a personal savings bank account with about 150M balance

He is a business man and doesn’t receive salary, his money comes into the account everyday

Can he use the account to apply for a UK visa ? Or he has to start paying himself salary for 6 months ? Please respond

Good day Giselle,

(1) t's been long I saw a refusal letter for any of my intending or longer personally. So excuse my oversight. I guess they putting oanda rates came into being when our exchange rates started going yoyo. My bad

Pls let any intending applicants go with the oanda rates ( i.e £1= N498)

This will be good for people with small sizable funds and even better for those with more funds.

(2) The shopping or not issue has been thrashed before now so no need to rehash that here. It's not needed if u want to apply.

(3) Eventually, the applicant will still keep to the ratio/percentage I have outlined as before. Well said.

Remember, the great number of people ur talking about are people that come here and give us the news that they have been given. Some are given and never come back while many that are not given don't even bother to come back. Those that are not given but come back are those that felt they followed all processes and didn't know where the refusal came from. Meanwhile there are many ghosts on the platform.

We keep learning.

Goodluck

giselle237:
1. UKVI uses Oanda rates. It is well stated on refusal letters, no need for any over projections. Over projection is not a prerequisite
2. Shopping is not mandatory. We have seen this time and time over again. Many also on this thread have applied for visas without shopping element and were granted. It is not mandatory.
3. Assess your financial situation.. staying within less than 3 times your disposable income has worked for a great number of people.

Thank you very much for the feed back

Yes I’m traveling alone

So the £1100 is inclusive of a return ticket valued at £700 with a daily average spend on accommodation, feeding etc of £100 X 6 which sums up to £1,300 (made a typo with the 1,100)

I have been using the exchange on O&a currency converter as a guide on how the embassy would convert my Naira deposits (I hope that’s okay?) and going by this £1,300 amounts to N654,692 which is about 33% of the 2m balance.

Looking to make it as simple as possible that’s why I initially opted for my salary account alone where I very much intend to explain every inflow and outflow.

Thanks again

2m is a huge sum of money...if you are being invited to the UK , £1k will be fine

My brother/sister, it's better to err on the side of caution. The poster has said he will be accomodation of £1100 already, so ur statement above is misdirected. Me and you are not aware of the poster's real financial status as many things might before he applies for the visa.

If using hotel or hostel for 6days ,£1300 is ok. all should be calculated using oanda rate and not black market pls.

Here, ur saying he should use official rate and not black market rate. This is fine by me to use to calculate the lower limit of his spending. U didn't put the current exchange of naira to pounds and ur assuming everyone is as proficient as you are. The differential in exchange rate between official and black market will give him the higher limit of his spend and also put him in a good stead in his financial explanations. It's better to for him to have some surplus than trying to wring his head around whether naira gained marginally in the pound market. But if his financials are stiff and his on a budget, he is welcome to empty ur explanation into his application.

Also remember, he's most likely going to get black market when he's ready to travel as banks are starved of forex right now and there's a growing queue

Flight- 650
accomodation- 300
pocket money- 350
If u like do shopping, e no concern embassy so therefore dont attach too much importance to shopping money.

As again, shopping money is also part of pocket money. Ur statement here is watery as pocket money is money used to buy stuff or buy services.

From ur calculation, he will be spending 1.3M out of the 2M which will leave him with 700K. Now remember we don't what other information he will be filling in his form like his work or business so doing this now opens it to different interpretation to any VO. How much comes in a month for him? How much goes out? When we are filling this forms, we are justing using our head and calculator to do so, the VO and their platform (since we now fill online) uses power algorithms to process the information in this section of the application (the section that deals with finances) This section is very important and delicate and the questions are tricky so u need to have ur onions cut out before attempting them. They refuse most people citing this section. The VOs look at the information the algorithms present to them based on ur inputs and bank statements (why do u think the statements are scanned). We use head and calculator, they use algorithms, so tell me who would better insights to ur financial situation?

Ensure no lodgement or boosting of accounts like Nigerians call it.Dont sell ur property and ask the buyer to send into ur salary account few weeks to your application or get back a soft loan from a friend ,keep ur account clean n straightforward... they know all those tactics.

The above statement is well said. Pls poster check this very well in ur account statement

Ensure not spending more than 2.5-3times ur disposable income

Also well said

Pls poster if ur constrained financially and feel u can go it for it pls do, if not, pls go thru the whole hog

Good day

Am assuming ur the alone going on the trip?

The embassy not only looks at ur account balance in ur statements but also ur inflows and outflows. So u will need to study ur bank statement to know the averages across board. Any lump sums should have an explanation. Ur salary inflow (if ur employed) should be regular monthly remittance. If ur self employed, the inflows need to explained by way of the nature of such transactions.

As for ur 2M adequacy question, let's check it out

£1100 is about 825k which it seems is for accomodation and some shopping. U didn't input money for ur return flight wch ranges from 350-500K. Give or take ur spending between 1.2-1.4M which about 70% of ur 2M leaving u with 30% of ur total balance which won't sight right with the VO.

As a rule of thumb, make sure ur total money to be spent on ur travel (flight, hotel, shopping etc) is less than 40% of the sum available on ur bank balance. The lesser percentage the better.

Hope this helps u

Goodluck

Good evening house,

Is an Account balance of 2m sufficient for proof of funds for a 6 months Visit visa Application?

Looking to spend 6-days with a budget of 1100 GBP

Good day,

Pls was this expressly asked for in the application for the type of visa u want? If not, it's not needed. Just state the departure and return dates in Ur application and that's fine.

Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by DrStrangelove: 6:47pm On Jul 04, 2022
Good day,

Ur tenacious spirit after 4 denials is what intrigues me.

Ur first visit in 2014 looks good

Ur second visit in 2017 which is almost 2 months isn't that bad but u cud be expecting questions to be thrown Ur way as regards this. (What were u doing for seven weeks). A good plausible reason could be that it was during the summer or during the Dec/Jan holiday season.

Where u half-bleeped was not renewing Ur visa soon enough after expiry in 2018 as the drop box program was still in effect at that. (Dropbox program was suspended in May 2019)

Be that as it may, u haven't broken any laws.

Ur chances of Ur visa being renewed depends on if u have a clean slate while in the US and maybe u travel history to some other places during Ur 4 year hiatus. U should be ready to explain that period to the VO.

U can get an interview the same way everyone does and keep trying till u get a nearer date. Hope they clean up their calendar soon

Hmmn, going with Ur family should be ideal but going by what Dammypops said, in this time of migration, it might be suspect unless they have travelled with u on other trips to good countries. If not, u will have to explain why they are travelling now with u. A good reason could be that u want them to come and experience something/somewhere awesome u did/visited in Ur earlier trips and why that's worth while.

Goodluck

Hello House: Advise needed !!
My 1st Visit to US was in 2014 (after 4 denials), i visited and spent 4 weeks,
My second visit after renewing my Visa was in 2017, i spent 7 weeks during my visit. Unfortunately my Visa expired in 2018 and i have not made any attempt since then, spoiling my chance of doing a drop box.
Right now i really want to travel but then the fear of the consulate is the beginning of wisdom .
My Questions:

1) What are my chances of getting my Visa renewed
2) How can i get appointment for the interview.
3) What are my chances when i go with my family (Wife and Children) as my 2 visit so far, i went alone

Looking forward to hearing from the house. Thanks in anticipation
