Anyway, am a little confused here. There is a cough syrup with codeine meant for children, (not infants).
My older son was given at a time when his cough defiles all other cough syrup n d cough disappeared after a while.
if this codeine is bad, why make it with other substance for kids? l may have to google this to double sure. l will surely stay clear of it.

Codeine belongs to †ђε class of drugs called Opiods, just like most drugs opiods has many uses & adverse effects,
It can be used to treat cough(antitussive effect), reduce pain(analgesic effect) and a host of others. Its adverse has been listed by †ђε OP, †ђε main one to watch out for is †ђε respiratory & cardivascular depression all opiods(codeine) cause. You should continue giving to your child madam but only based on †ђε dose prescribed by your doctor, that why there is a dosing scheme in †ђε first place. †ђε adverse effect will mainly manifest at higher doses, so rather you need to watch †ђε dose & how long you administer it.
Also note that other drugs like Morphine, Heroine, pentazocine, tramadol also belong to this same class of drugs called OPIODS just like codeine, that's why †ђε can also produce euphoric effects as heroine & morphine due to its action on †ђε brain.

But I cannot assert that its †ђε prostate that homos feel when inside †ђε anus that makes it enjyoyable to them cos I'm not one.

You need to go to †ђε nearest hospital around you for thorough investigations & care. Haematuria could result from many things,one of them Kidney damage and you need to act fast before its late instead of requesting for over †ђε counter drugs which won't help you in this case.

Very wrong my brother, U don't av simpe basics of phhysiology to conclude dat, urination involves two things: contraction of †ђε bladder & relaxation of †ђε bladder trigone @ †ђε same time. But when one dies, his body fully contracts due to increased sympathetic outflow & then finally relaxes before rigor mortis takes place so u see †ђε detrusor muscle of †ђε urinary bladder did not contract & †ђε same time †ђε bladder trigone relaxes, so urination cannot be produced.

I just Donated blood to one of my patients, a 18 year old girl who had bleeding disorder so had massive bleeDing from †ђε mouth, ears, eyes, & private part, She had a Haemoglobin level of 4.5g\dl, I wonder how she was still alive, was @ near point of dieing & parents couldn't afford to buy blood for her. budyke: The situation of basic medical sciences in nigeria is quite embarasing to the holders of this digree. I have a bsc in human anatomy, and wen it comes to employment the response is 'sorry we dont need you'. We must not end up in lecture halls as lecturers, is not all of us that have that talent. The annoying part of it is that u cant even apply for direct entry in medicine in nigerian schools and be sure u will get the coourse to study once u pass the exam(do we even need to write exams!?). With my upper division degree in anatomy, i have been subjected to go back to writing JAMB and post UME, after which the profs gives the admisions to their relatives and loved ones. Am on the opinion that NUC should abolish this courses at BSC level or make it a criteria for studying medicine in nigerian univerisities. Fresh jambites cant be compared with a degree holder in d field of medicine.. Its annoyingly embarasing.

Big misconception. I currently study Medicine @ UNN & I'm in my 500level. Believe me though U̶̲̥̅̊ think theres an advantage of which theoritically its true but coming on real terms it makes little or no difference.This is my 1st degree & †ђε best in my class with 4 Distinctions in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry & Pharmacology is on his first degree too,trust me getting a single distinction In UNN med sch now is not child's play even those 2nd degree people fail out & some have multiple resits & d rest are jst normal, none has a single dinstinction, why do †ђε distinctions keep coming from †ђε first timers over †ђε years, even †ђε best graduating students so my dear 2nd degree is not a criteria for execelling though it helps

1. Why do some women have MP and some don't?
2. For those who experience MP, it could be irregular ie they could experience painful MP this month, no MP in the next two month then mild cramps in the following month. Why is this so?
3. From your medical POV, is sugar intake directly proportional to MP occurrence?
4. Since you said continuous usage of these pain relieving drugs could be harmful in the long run, what alternatives do you suggest women take to relieve them of MP(esp. for those who don't like taking drugs)?
5. Can herbs(leaves,roots etc) help to relieve MP?
6. Should women detoxify their systems regularly to help relieve MP?

1)Its just s natural difference, some women produce more prostaglandins(PG'S) while some produce little, same reasons why some people are dark, some fair. Its natural selection.
2)Is †ђε same reasons, production of PG's is from an essential fatty acid called Arachidonic acid, gotten from cod liver oil. So its production varies from time to time, and from person to person.
3)Sugar intake explanation is a little more complex. But physicals studies shows it does happen & practical
4)Taking these drugs(NSAIDS) thrice every month is not so dangerous,it is practicable & you can take it for menstrual pain along with †ђε precautions but abuse shld NEVER be encouraged.
5)Herb usually do work but I won't advice anybody to take them because their adverse effects are not totally known & outlined like †ђε one I gave you above, so Its can be a silent killer as U̶̲̥̅̊ do not know how to combat these adverse effects.
6) Lady please save yourself some stress & some unnecessary worry, those things do not directly affect MPs so are [font=Lucida Sans Unicode][/font]totally superstitious & should of course be Ignored.

Hello house, from †ђε medical point of view, Menstrual cramps are primarily caused by †ђε release of prostagaladins from †ђε endometrium(innermost layer of †ђε uterus).Ladies, It is actually this substance called prostaglandins that cause contraction of †ђε uterus(womb) during menstruation which causes †ђε pain you experience as menstrual cramps.
Drugs called NSAIDS(Non-Steroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs) stops †ђε production of these substances called prostagalandins(PG) thereby stopping pain during menstruation. Examples of such drugs are: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, Paracetamol, Piroxicam. These drugs are marketed with different trade names like Feldin,Panadol e.t.c.
These are †ђε same drugs also used to cure Fever, pains, headaches.

Warning †ђε adverse effects of these drugs can be severe like:
Stomach ulcer,
Stomach bleeding in ulcer patients,
Kidney & Liver failure,
Asthmatic attacks in asthma patients.
Therefore †ђε should NEVER be taken on empty stomach especially in Ulcer patients as it may cause stomach bleeding & pain, Infact it is safer & best to concurrently take them with anti-ulcer drugs like Ranitidine, Famotidine, even if you have have never had ulcer, this is to reduce †ђε riski of Gastro-intestinal(Stoamch) peforations & bleeding.

Yes!!! Lassa fever originated in our very own Lassa town present day borno state in 1969 during the civil war. Its endemic(commonly found) in west africa with Nigeria have most of the occurences. During the War while famine dealt with the Southerners even when they resorted to eating only rats & other bush meats till there was no more rats in biafra, none was infected with this deadly viral lassa fever, but in the North lassa fever devastated the Northerners with the domestic rats around the corner.
Lassa fever is an African haemorrhagic fever(meaning it can cause severe internal haemorrhage) which is caused by Arena Virus an RNA Virus. Arena virus is also responsible for the South American Haemorrhagic fevers: Junim, Machupo, Saba(Brazil), Guanarito.
Lassa fever is an extremely deadly disease which can be transmitted by domestic rats mastolys natalensis.
The Virus can also spread from person to person by contact with infected body fluids like saliva, nasal secretions, blood, semen etc. Infact this virus spreads like wild fire & kills very rapidly
It causes high fever, mouth ulcer, bloody diarrhoea, bloody stool, heart, kidney & liver failure.
Infact beware its symptoms are non specific and varied and resembles that of the Ebola & Marburg haemorrhagic fever which are Filovirus. And the virus has a virulence rate of 90% in infants. Can be cured simply by using the antiviral drug ribavarin.

Well Im currently in University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus(UNEC) and there has been no reports of lassa fever in Enugu even though theres high tension about the virus.

Im a Student of UNN, personally writing from Nsukka, Enugu State.
The truth's that our Nation needs sensible leadership in all ramifications. UNN's former V.C Prof. Chinedu Nebo performed excellently while in office though he too increased the school fees but he did that in a diplomatic way, consulting every necessary personnel before the increament and no one protested.
But his successor Prof. Bartho Okolo refused to follow in his footstep.
1) He was the Chairman of NUGA comitee during Nebo's regime. He ended up leaving most Sport facilities uncompleted, looting the remaining money.
2) When he assumed office Bartho immediately demolished most purportedly unapproved buildings mostly Restaurants and Computer Centres in the campus with little or no compensation to the owners, providing no single alternative for stranded students.
3) He then hiked the fees. Acceptance from N6,000- N25,000(317% increase), Convocation fees from N4,000 to N40,000(900% increase) and then school fees was about to raised to N80,000.
What sort of V.C will make students drop out inorder to allegedly develop the University, even when he schooled with a scholarship. He is arrantly arrogant, snubbing meetings with the SUG severally. Prof. Bartho is educationaly developed but in character he is found wanting lacking basic manners and common. He's simply looking for an avenue to loot public funds. Since his inception as V.C, he's been travelling from one country to another for months now.
The riots has seemed to have died down but students coming from UNEC accompanied by students from ESUT and IMT are storming Nsukka from Enugu. The Riot Police have done terribly bad using live round to shoot at protester instead of rubber bullets and tear gas.
Although Im against voilent demonstrations by the Lions and Lionesses but it appeared some were totally out of control not wanting to drop out of school. Voilence cant be the absolute remedy cos we students will still bear the brunt. UNN V.C Bartho has broken the long lines of peace in UNN established by his predecessor Nebo. He has proved to be incompetent and dubious. He's a disgrace to Nigeria as a whole Nation.
