. . .and she made a promise she would always . . . never mind. **walks away** |
How does this make sense? http://www.simsng.com/main/faqs.htm And how does having a breadcrumb that points to "Welcome > Careers" on a FAQ page (that's totally useless) make sense? How does a site that wasn't optimized for Mozilla Firefox top the list as being the best? What's the point of having an intro page that's totally useless and only servers to waste visitors time and bandwidth which translates to waste of money in most cases? Please don't go anywhere outside Nairaland saying this is the best Nigerian website. We have suffered enough blows and are only trying to get things right these days don't give people the wrong impression about what we do in Nigeria. |
Ok, I want to take my contact details off the thread as soon as u've gotten it. |
That's HC's BB PIN you got on your signature. Now start confessing ![]() |

While you sort out the mod-rewrite and htaccess thingy, here's what i'm thinking of. Create a database having the following info. alias = which in your case will be "seyi". i.e the sub directory after the main domain. member_id = which for "seyi" will be "10" both fields must be unique Now write a script to do the following. Get the sub directory from a url when a user enters the url. So if the user enters http://www.site.com/seyi, get the "seyi" part of url and store in a variable $alias. Crosscheck the variable with the list of alias u have in your database. If one row is affected, return the member_id for that row and store as $member_id then use the php header method to redirect the user header("Location: http://www.site.com/members.php?userid=".$member_id); Aight I just wrote this here without testing it so if it works, fine. If it doesnt work ![]() |
Thankfully it was done with client-side scripting. Opensource has given you and I the licence to tiff anything we can see ![]() There's the script you need, right on the gateway website. Study the source of the underlying CSS and Javascript used for that. If you use Firefox then Firebug will be a helpful weapon for this operation. Happy stealing, try not to trip the alarms ![]() Hehe, they even garnished their scripts with lotsa comments. That's like mo' icing on the cake for you. I get a feeling this is HC ![]() |
I have posted a reply but the spam bot has chopped it. Well I cant be mailing or IM'ing Seun to unblock it so I have installed a blog on my site (yay finally I am blogging) and I will deal with most questions raised here in a question and answer way there until there is a solution to this bot thing. Here's the link to the post I made regarding this. Click HERE |
There are a gazzillion of them. They are all turnkey resellers from Reseller Club. Turnkey reselling and Bulk SMS are two concepts that really tick me off. If the upstream providers know they will be giving out their service to a large number of people then why didn't they build the system in such a way that presentation is separated from functionality? If that was done and they had given the user 100% control over presentation (e.g using smarty template system) then each customer can create his unique look and still be a turnkey reseller without anyone knowing while still retaining the functionality. |
Legalize it and we wont have to see/hear bizarre stories about trying to smuggle it. ![]() |
Still go ahead to post what the error was and how it was solved. |
Try an FTP client or contact your host service provider. |
What changes did you make? |
