Try this: Enter command prompt (CMD) as an administrator. Do that by typing "CMD", right-click on the application and run as administrator. At the command prompt, issue the following command (and hit enter): net stop W3SVC Then restart all WAMP services and check if apache has started successfully. 1 Like |
Webmasters / Re: What Is The Meaning Of "Unlimited Domains"? by DualCore1: 6:33am On Apr 11, 2016 |
When the term "unlimited" is used, it is best to find out exactly what it means (in their context) from the host service provider. Shoot them a mail. |

My first impression of the 3 pictures tells me it looks more like those two engineers are alive and working on that pole (maintenance/repair) and a 3rd guy is holding the ladder. Questions to think about: Why hasnt anyone confirmed this story? How will a trained engr go up that ladder without PPE and expect to bring the other guy down? Why will that 3rd guy holding the ladder still have courage to be holding that ladder when the two men up don die? "Epic" LIB story |

kem82:The sooner you realize you have a lot of work to do on this your application before it gets to the standard of a commercial script, the better for you and your endeavors. A simple "search" feature on your site is generating errors and stack trace that could pass for codes intended to shut down the international space station. All I did was to simply type "test" in your search field

roaringlamb01: Lol, I will be interested in you showing us a link of the exact same software. This won't pass for a commercial product anywhere, its more like an assignment for a junior PHP developer about to go intermediate, showing a fair understanding of Bootstrap in the mix. When you put a keke napep engine inside a Rolls Royce chasis and body... it will look wow like a Rolls and run slow like a Keke. Thumbs up to the creators of the admin template. To the developer who did this, tune that keke engine or up your skills to a Honda engine (It will make your hardwork more rewarding). This line of yours gives me the shivers "stop being jealous of my programming skills"... like seriously...I'm looking for the pun in that line. |

Webmasters / Re: Help!!! I Can No Longer Use Master Card To Renew Foreign Hosted Domain by DualCore1: 11:41pm On Dec 27, 2015 |
For those advising a transfer to a Nigerian host, do not rush into this option. The reason: Every Nigerian host has to settle server lease fees and monthly licenses with foreign datacenters so they are in the same sunk ship as you. Only initiate a transfer to any host that survives the first 3-4 months of this problem because only those with foreign reserves or a sure means of getting foreign funds (Dorm account) would last that long. 2 Likes |

Create a second table called "rules" with the following structure table: rules fields: id, symptoms, sickness the "id" field is an auto increment field. The "symptoms" field is a varchar field that will hold a json string of all the symptoms making up one sickness, the "sickness" field will hold the name of the sickness. So, an example of one of the data records in this new table will be: id: 1 symptoms: ["1", "2", "5"] sickness: malaria You can have as many rulesets as you want like the one above with different set of symptoms and disease. Now the processing. On the first page, display all the symptoms as you have said with checkboxes. For reference purpose let us name your checkboxes "symptoms[]" On the form processor, the page that handles the user request and tells the user what sickness they have... it should have this kind of flow: //get the list of "checked" symptoms from the symptoms[] array that has come in through the form's POST data. //now you have an array of all the checked symptoms, let's call it $user_symptoms //do a database query of your rules table "select * from rules" //traverse through the result of the db query discarding any rulesets that do not have the same amount of checked symptoms first, like this: foreach(put appropriate code here depending on how you query db){ $db_symptoms = $result['symptoms'] //i am assuming your db query result has been placed into the $result array. //now you have gotten a json formatted string of symptoms, convert this to an array $symptoms_array = json_decode($db_symptoms, 1); //up to this point we now have 2 arrays. The array of the checked symptoms ($user_symptoms) and that of the symptoms for each ruleset ($symptoms_array) //next compare both arrays, if both arrays are not the same in length, discard. if(count($symptoms_array) == count($user_symptoms)){ //both arrays are the same in length, now check to find match the two arrays, they must be exact $match = array_diff($symptoms_array, $user_symptoms) //if there is a match, the $match will hold an array with no elements if(count($match) == 0){ //you have a match echo "you dey suffer from ".$result['sickness']; } } } I hope you get the logic, others may have a better logic but do not take the option of deciding the sickness with decision constructs as opposed to creating a "rules" table. If you use decision constructs, for each sickness you want to profile you will need to write a new set if if/elseif/else block. But with my suggested method above, you just write this code once and add new sicknesses to your database without needing to write any new code. 1 Like |

Webmasters / Re: Any Experience With OVH VPS? by DualCore1: 10:12am On Dec 03, 2015 |
You may not get detailed reviews on a server from Nairaland. There are not many power users or Linux server admins on this board. Most get to use WHM out of the box without SSH'ing their way through. Search Google for OVH reviews and you will get results including benchmark tests. Also search lowendtalk. |

Go into Filezilla and create a profile. The hostname is your domain name (example.com). The password is your site's cPanel password. This is assuming you are running on cPanel. If you are not running on cPanel or have any other difficulty, update this thread with it. |
Webmasters / Re: Dear Nairelander Rate My Bootstrap Customization Of Nairaland by DualCore1: 7:16pm On Sep 28, 2015 |
Apart from the header section (which is very well done), every other part is a poor implementation of bootstrap or any design skill and will pass for a class exercise for students of a basic html class. I cannot provide a detailed review about this project as it lacks ingenuity and I doubt the sincerity of its purpose. You claim this is just for the fun however I cannot understand the rationale behind having this on its own domain with its own logo, running live ads and placing a copyright on content you have gotten from Nairaland without permission. You don't take a scrapped Toyota Camry, fix it, change the name from Toyota Camry to Yatoya Rycam, put it up for sale and say its not a rip off of Toyota that you're only trying to encourage Toyota. 2 Likes |

Webmasters / Re: Hi, An Online Marketer? I Need Your Help! Its All About Payoneer. by DualCore1: 12:46pm On Aug 24, 2015 |
If you have 30-35 days to wait for the postman to bring your card to your address, give them a valid address. There is no guaranty you will get the card as there is no tracking available and you're at the mercy of the postal system. If you don't want to deal with waiting for as long as 35 days and the uncertainties, opt for them to send your card using DHL. You will receive the card within 5 days. This service will cost you $50 so you should have that much in your Payoneer account. See what the tracking information for a card looks like, when using DHL. It gives you an idea of the timeframe. http://www.dhl-usa.com/content/us/en/express/tracking.shtml?AWB=6658973215&brand=DHL 1 Like |

You do not have root access to the server so you can't know the size of all your files. I think they already know this but just so they know you're serious, ask them to do the following on the server, through SSH. They should get to the home folder of the affected websites command: cd /home/site_username/public_html And using the du utility they should give you an output. The du utility prints out an output of all the files and file sizes. command: du -hs * The output is something like what is below. I have masked out sensitive data. Last login: Fri Aug 7 13:23:25 2015 from ******** root@*** [~]# cd /home/******/public_html root@*** [/home/*******/public_html]# du -hs * 100M **** 170M **** 4.0K cgi-bin 12K ******* 12K css 1.5M **** 12K **** 53M ***** 4.0K error_log 556K ***** 544K ****** Without knowing exactly what files are using up your resources, you will be shooting blanks. |

onyengbu:There is a reason why the army first breaks an individual to barebones before rebuilding to spec. Learning with a plain text editor like Notepad++ will give the learner the opportunity to write every line of code himself without the enticement of function usage hinting and code completion. There is a reason good driving schools still using manual transmissions to teach. We know a driver who learnt with an auto transmission can't just jump into a manual transmission and move. However the manual transmission learner can jump into an auto transmission and move. Well the bottom line is learn with the basic tools and as one develops his skills, use whatever IDE works best for you. Nothing personal but inside me I don't think I will take any developer seriously if his "home" IDE is Dreamweaver (Yes I know there is the "code view" but I don't see what a web developer should be doing with an IDE that has "design view" and other useless features... not to mention the terrible code DW generates). Professionally I worked with Notepad++ for about 4-5 years before switching to PHPStorm. I don't see myself leaving PHPStorm anytime soon. For quick fixes my default application is still Notepad++. |
Webmasters / See What Gtbank Has Released To Its Customers As The New GAPS Portal by DualCore1: 11:13am On Aug 03, 2015 |
So GTBank has released a "new" GAPS portal. It looks nice and it works, its more like a bootstrap'd re-skinning. But look at the attached image, see the part I have highlighted with a dashed red line. I do not believe this website went through any quality testing, if it did then GTBank's development team leaves much to be desired. |
