Webmasters / Re: I Have Moved My Site To Another Host But Webpages Not Showing by DualCore1: 9:05pm On Mar 13, 2015
Confirm your files have been moved successfully and confirm your domain's DNS records have been updated to point to the nameservers of your new host.

Also note that the propagation of your DNS changes takes anything from 5 minutes to 72 hours across the world. In recent years the propagation time for Nigerian ISPs has reduced to a few hours or even minutes.

All in all, it is best to contact your new web host with this issue.

@rufaai, It will be in the best interest of your business to modify your post with a "..." as there isn't a delete post function.
You have made that post in anger, I have been there and inside you a part of you thinks you've acted too fast but your anger will keep shutting that part up until you get over it.

The customer has every right to be infuriated and except you are looking for the slightest reason to feel threatened, you won't see any real threats in those statements. Only a shady person will consider "dont push me or I'll say more" as a real threat.

Placing uncensored excerpts of your conversations with your customers is a violation of their privacy.

You may seem to be getting your pound of flesh by cancelling this guy's other 4 websites but think about the audience you were trying to justify your company's actions to by posting that ticket log. You think they will want to do business with a "trigger-happy" host who will threaten to pull the plug on their websites at the slightest hint of being threatened? That's just weak.

The way people play with business and PR.

Cluttered.

I've seen better concepts from Nigerians with not as much money.

Bottom line: money can't buy creativity. Money can buy a lot of good stuff which when misplaced end up in tasteless clutter.

Webmasters / Re: What Are The Challenges Faced By Nigeria Web Hosting companies? by DualCore1: 10:12pm On Feb 26, 2015
1. Currency exchange rates
2. Little or no technical experience, just WHM experience.
3. Poor customer support
4. Weak security if any
5. Clients from hell
6. Clients who hate to update their CMS sites
7. Fraudulent clients repeatedly registering fake bank and courier sites.

To correct some statements above:
Some Nigerian host service providers handle server maintenance, right from building the box to putting it on a rack in the DC. It is called collocation. Some hosts get blank servers from DCS on a monthly lease and do all the configs, they are called unmanaged servers.
In my opinion I don't see resellers as host service providers, they are what they are, resellers and they usually will not offer more than the shared and reseller hosting plans on their sites.
Webmasters / Re: See What Cashenvoy Sent Me. by DualCore1: 2:38pm On Feb 19, 2015
It is always good to read terms and understand them before reaching rediculous conclusions.

You have been told by Cashenvoy that they will charge you 3,500 as the maximum amount per transaction. That means even if 2.5% of a transaction is more than 3,500, you will not be charged above 3,500.

This may have nothing to do with your site if you are on a shared hosting plan as there will be a lot of other sites on the server. The server has run out of diskspace (its not a case of your site running over quota) and only a server admin can fix this so contact your host.

Hello Yugosng,
TruDigits was not hacked. The domain expired 3 hours ago and has been renewed. This expiry went beyond notice as there were tons of notifications coming into a "no-reply" email weekly and the notification to renew the domain was not seen.

Sorry for the inconveniences caused. The domain is back online and you can go on with your name search. If you are still unable to access it from your end, allow some time for propagation of the DNS changes that took place on renewal of the domain.

No other official statement will be sent out to customers as no services or sites were affected. To avoid a recurrence of this nature, changes have been made to the notification system and the process to have the domain registered until the year 2020 has been initiated (this process will be completed within 24 hours).

Did you know that all shared hosting plans were reviewed in December 2014 and you can now get 5GB diskspace with 50GB monthly bandwidth and a free domain for the same price of 3,500 Naira per year? The reseller hosting plans were also reviewed!

Again, sorry for the troubles and thank you for choosing TruDigits as your webhosting partner.

Etisalats 10GB plan (10,000) + EasyFlex (4000) = 14,000 per month

The above package comes with (per month):
10GB data + 10GB bonus data = 20GB data.
12,500 call credit

So that's 168k per year

Music/Radio / A Short Note To Diamond Bank And Notjustok.com #youneedanewbank by DualCore1: 9:14pm On Dec 09, 2014
I have watched with interest your quest to reward hardwork through the campaign #youneedanewbank song remix. I commend the initiative and hope to see more collaborations of this nature.

The top 30 songs have been selected and I must say most of them are really good. Now the 30 songs have been subjected to an online voting system to win the grand price of 1.5 million Naira today at mid night. How encouraging! This will really be a good reward for hardwork!

However I must express my disappointment with the voting system chosen, online voting (Poll Daddy). I have watched the results and have seen votes rise in their thousands within hours, today. While some are rising in their thousands, others are rising in their tens and those ones must be wondering what they are not doing right to get as much votes as the others... actually what they are not doing "right" is that they are not cheating, mostly out of ignorance.

When we have sites like buycontestvote.com, buyvoteslikes.com and the rest, it is so easy for anyone with the knowlege and some money to rig any online voting system as these "service providers" can offer hundreds of thousands of votes withing a very short period of time and with a money back guaranty.

I have read the comments and I have seen the complaints made by many and the defense made by others on the campaign site. I am in a very neutral position on the matter so I can only watch the goings on with keen interest.

Diamond Bank and NotJustOk.com, at midnight I am keen to see how you filter out these thousands of fake votes (if you have any plans of doing that). I am interested in seeing whether, at midnight today you will be rewarding corruption or hardwork.

P.S: I am a programmer and Linux admin and know nothing about music production (I installed fruity loops some 10 years ago or so and never opened the app and that's as far as I went, so I am not saying this because I have any vested interests in any of the 30 submissions there)

The link to the campaign is: http://notjustok.com/2014/12/01/diamond-bank-youneedanewbank-remix-contest-top-30-finalists-released-voting-starts-now/
Webmasters / Re: Php VS Html by DualCore1: 9:48am On Dec 09, 2014
It actually depends on the target profession. If you have the target of being a web designer, you really won't need PHP. You're fine with HTML, CSS and jQuery. You will need to work closely with a web developer to put life into your design.

If you want to be a web developer, take about an hour to brush up on the basics of html and then delve into PHP and MySQL or any other serverside language and database engine of your choice.

If you want to be a full stack developer (you wan know everything), you should start your journey with HTML and CSS, The basics of Javascript and jQuery. Then move to PHP and MySQL, delve into AJAX too. Then you can look at the frameworks if you are that kinda person.
Webmasters / Re: Help, Cant Insert Data Into MYSQL Database Table by DualCore1: 4:08pm On Dec 02, 2014
In the register table, have a varchar field called 'registered_courses'.

When a user ticks all the applicable courses, when processing that form, build all the ticked course IDs into an array. Store the array in the registered_courses table.

For instance the array could look like '25, 65, 45, 68'.

When you need to use the data stored, bear in mind it will not be returned to you as an array. It will be returned to you as a string, you can then 'explode' the data into an array and use as desired.
Webmasters / Re: My Official Website by DualCore1: 10:40pm On Nov 02, 2014
It lacks arrangement and organisation and one key reason for this is the fact that you have relied so much on tables in placing your elements on the page. With this present design I cannot believe you have developed some of the sites in your portfolio, except they are CMS-based sites, in which case the UI wasn't done by you.

On the brighter side of things, I don't think I came up with as much of a website as you have come up with in my first 2 years of web development but I will blame that partly on the fact that the tools we have now didn't exist then. In summary, you have been able to achieve a lot in your 2 years experience and still have a lot of work to do. I will advice you gain some mastery of HTML and CSS while you still do your thing with the CMSes.

Webmasters / Re: What Is A Barcode Used For On A Website by DualCore1: 8:17am On Oct 17, 2014
cbrass:
Thanks a lot adewasco2k, I really appreciate it, but that techical aspect is what I will need most, anyway I will ask them(client) what they need it for and probably generate it for them just as you suggested.

Have a nice night Bro
I once wrote a web application for a client in Greece which is a property listing web app for estate agents. Each property listed on the website has a QR code containing all the information about the property, the cost, the contact details of the agent etc. If this is printed and placed in public places, a person finding a house can easily and quickly scan the code and get all the details. This is a practical use of the QR code.

I created a QR code generating class with a few of PHP's internal functions to handle images. In recent times more powerful classes have been written. Have a look at this: http://phpqrcode.sourceforge.net/

By the way its not logical to call it a barcode (its not made of vertical bars). The full meaning of QR is Quick Response.

You are getting that because your browser cannot parse php code without a webserver. The right way to access your projects on xamp is through http://localhost.

For this very project it is http://localhost/play/form.html

Ensure apache server is started in your xamp control panel before running it.
In a nutshell do not open files directly on the browser by double clicking them.

Webmasters / Re: How Gtbank Has Been Stealing $$$ From My Payoneer Card by DualCore1: 11:49pm On Sep 23, 2014
I have used my Payoneer card on all the regular ATMs I use my other cards and they have worked (GTB, Zenith, FCMB etc). I haven't sat to calculate the exchange rate, I just do not expect to get the exact value in the card as there are withdrawal fees to be paid. I may be wrong but I think I get charged 1k for every 20K withdrawal. I may be wrong about the exact figure that is charged but I know a good amount of money is taken when I do withdrawals of 100K in bits of 20Ks. I mistakenly checked the card's balance once through an ATM machine without making a withdrawal and was charged for it.

Vinshu, maybe I was being too polite with you. Let me be brief and to the point. You know little about the legal and business ends of the global webhosting industry considering the quality of your comments. Be sure to present your opinions as they really are, opinions. This way we would be one forum member short of a misconception.

As to whether I work for SmartwebNG, again it shows how little you know about the industry and my worry is the naive ones that you have poisoned with these your ideas.
Webmasters / Re: Do not register with Smartweb Hosting, they won't to refund my money by DualCore1: 3:32am On Sep 21, 2014
No domain is guilty until proven. Nobody can arrest a web hosting service provider over hosting a domain, except the provider does not know its rights as a service provider and has not put terms of service in place for protection.

Even if a host registers and hosts firstbankng.com, the first action will be a take down notice being sent by the legal representatives of FBN PLC. At this point the domain has been found guilty with grounds for suspension and termination and the case is closed afterwards. The case is escalated only when the host service provider ignores the take down notice, at this point even the service provider is a suspect.

I don't see anything terribly wrong in what the host in this case has done. If anything they are protecting their network and their existing customers. Won't it be better they do this than get on with processing the order only to suspend your site in the near future with no grounds for a refund?

What they have done is not enough reason to come up with this thread's title. In this time and age a refund can be made almost instantly so what you should be taking up with them is the fact that they are taking the 1996 approach to refund you. Your thread topic makes it look like they pulled a scam on you.

I don't know why nobody has bothered to ask the OP why he is unable to produce satisfactory documents for the service provider who has asked for them.

Vinshu, your comment is misleading. A host can be in a position to ask for any documents and yes they have the right to ask questions if their terms of service empowers them with such a right. Smartweb reserves the right to refuse any service and if a refund is approved, will process one within 4-6 weeks, according to their terms. So they have done NOTHING wrong to this OP. A landlord can ask to know what his tenant wants to use his property for. If you don't want to be asked questions, go and build your own house.

OP, I suggest you move on to another service provider and close this case. The terms of service on their website which you agreed to gives them the right to do all they have done to you now, and that is
1. Reject your order even after payment for any reason
2. Process your refund within 4-6 weeks.

So the fact that you have placed and paid for an order does not automatically entitle you to their service. Stop the sentiments.
The next webhost you go for, let them know the domain name and the kind of site you want to host on it prior to your making payment for it and only go ahead to make a payment for it if you are 100% in the clear to do so without their asking for documents that you are not in a position to provide.

<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit Number">

to

<input type="submit" name="submitted" value="Submit Number">

Even at that your code will not give you the desired result, as I see you are trying to send SMS via API.

After this line

$url = "http://smsclone.com/components/com_spc/smsapi.php?username=cbrass&password=Bleep&sender=admin&recipient=$recipient&message=$message";

You must have something like

This is not a big project it should not take more than a month from planning to execution if you do not plan to do the planning, graphics and coding all by yourself.

A barebones demo of this can be cooked up in 2 days.

Gameaddict, can you send me full details of this case?
Basically I want to see

1. The terms of service on your site that every user of your site agrees to before using it.
2. Utiware's terms of service (I think I can get this directly from their website)
3. The kind of hosting plan you have presently with Utiware.
4. The email correspondences between you, the complainant and Utiware

I'm not a lawyer but I may be of some little help in a bid to your solving this issue if I can get the requested details.

My email is sawyerrken@gmail.com
Webmasters / Re: Utiware Domain And Website Suspended - What Are My Options by DualCore1: 1:36pm On Sep 11, 2014
When there is a disagreement or perceived breach of contract and the parties involved are no longer responding I think it is best to seek legal advice from a legal practitioner in this particular field. The terms of service document is a legally binding agreement between you and your host service provider so read through that document well with a legal practitioner.

Regarding the issue of your site sending SPAM. The fact that you are not aware of any such practices on your site does not mean it is not being done. A malicious attacker could use your SMTP details to send mails out or could just upload a script on your site and send mails using the PHP mail() if this function is not disabled.
