skarlett: Is abstinence from sex and all other sexual activities before marriage as decreed in the Bible realistic and necessary?"
I came up with that because I feel the bible have made a lot of people overly hypocritical . . .I also find the rule stiffening and ridiculous. . .
It's 99.99% impossible to abstain from everything sexual before marriage, all things being equal i.e so long as he/she doesn't have some sort of disability. . . and it doesn't have to be penetrative sex(a lot of people that squawk against premarital sex do a lot of sexual acts asides from vaginal sex so it doesn't really make sense). And since it isn't possible to completely abstain then why do people preach about it or act judgmental especially when men/women are sexual beings?
Let's look at it from an extensive view away from the constraints of religion - we are supposed to mate as soon as we hit puberty. If we were not supposed to have sex before marriage then don't you think we are supposed to hit PUBERTY only after we've gotten married or what's the essence of having a reproductive organ ready for action at 17/18 years old but kept inactive for so many years?

If you love God, You'll keep his word.. It's the devil that makes people think they can't keep God's word but will follow the instructions of the devil. It's also a trick to think everybody is doing it.
folks4luv: Nigerians make it really difficult to be a better politician, reason I dont blame d greedy ones like saraki. Ben Bruce criticized the car for senator thing, he begged his colleagues to consider d economy n not demand for cars, then, people abused him, d car came, he rejected it, some Nigerians still call him a hypocrite for that. which way to go?
They are fools who still think everything is all about APC.

MRBrownJ: get your facts right... they did have plan to start a family together, just without being married. if you believe that you MUST be married to start a family then i suggest you quickly wake up and start living in the 21st century.
Screeches.. .... What is 21st century in what you just said.that the institution of marriage is being bastardized?.that the family structure is being wonglly redefined? That we no longer want to live right and do the right thing at all times? that humanity is being degraded and souls and conscience suppressed to satisfy evil or the Godlessness that we want entrenched in every areas of human life?
please bros, don't support what is wrong no matter how popular.
We Know it is most convenient to always put "President Jonathan" in all these stories.
Who doesn't know that Dino was against GEJ's government all through, with lots of media attacks and protest here and there. Was it not that time Dino was friends with Sahara reporters?
Now that Dino supports saraki, sahara now fights him. But will also add GEJ to their sinister narrative.
Just like a jonathanian said this during the occupy Nigeria strike also the long ASUU strike, the supporters of the opposition then, said the opposite. It's normal for the Buharideens, to want to play emotional or go lyrical when you mention "strike" search this forum and see dozens of threads on the need for revolution created then. The reasons for such was to activate emotions and propel hate for anan administration that was having sleepless nights and marathon meetings, trying to demystify the Nigeria problems and solve them even when surrounded by killers and criminals.
During the ASUU strike, where the president said it was political, The opposition attacked him again for saying so. I could remember the ASUU president saying, (this government is not for us, we are talking about rescuing our universities and the president is saying this strike is political? How can it be political! ) same with Lai Mohammed.
We know that no buharideen will want to hear strike! To them, it means attacking this government. It's not about making the government to do the right thing, by going the extra mile to alleviate the pains of Nigerians.
For me, if the purchasing power of Nigerians have reduced so drastically in just 1 year, salaries and pension have not been paid, the cost of petrol have tripled, same with commodity prices, the petrol stations have become so chaotic, workers have to go to work paying triple the transportation cost,Then return home, no light, yet there's an increase in electricity bill waiting to be paid and salaries have not increased....
Abeg, the call for strike by NLC is justified. No sentiments.
I've been asking this question as i've put on hold payment of some of my deals online. The transactions are not cash transactions na? at least they should charge us CBN rate. some of my deals hardly made economic sense when I compare the two rates. Please can someone somewhere do something about it, or suggest a way out.
The sin of Senator Ben, to some, is that he advised the Buhari-led government. nothing more. Some persons can't stand the fact that he's making sense and his points diminished their confidence and their unnecessary efforts at justifying their votes. and also gloat.
HardMirror: I sincerely don't know why people make a fuse about masturbation and pornography. I discovered masturbation when I was about 22 yrs old. Read something about it online and I tried it and I have Never regretted the discovery.
I keep seeing threads on how to stop masturbation and pornography. For what? You are feeling guilty? Really why do you want to stop masturbation and watching porn?
Some would say it has adverse effects on their health. I laugh out loud. Even common food seasoning, sugar, water, salt all have effect on the health when not taken in moderation.
Some say it affects their relationship with the opposite sex. WHAT?! How?! It even makes it easier for me to approach ladies. Masturbation and porn has increased my sexual abilities beyond my imagination. This has mad me very confident in relating with the opposite sex.
Some say it makes them have premature ejaculation. Well this is totally untrue. You should check your self you have other diseases. Masturbation has given me and many other great control.
Watching porn has helped me control my erections. Now I don't get "attention" anyhow. Those who don't watch porn easily get aroused. Which can be embarrassing. Some guys can't shake hands with a lady or hold a lady or even talk with a lady without their "chairman" raising.
Check online and see the benefits of masturbation and porn. You will realize that the major reason people condemn it is because of guilt due to their religion.
Masturbation has saved me from falling for so many ladies. How? Some times I would be chatting with a lady on phone and I begin to feel the orge to get closer to her. Once I masturbate I get back to my senses and I realize that it was my hormones that was making me over nice to her. She becomes like any other person and I don't feel the orge to impress her any more.
To avoid damage to your penile organ abeg use lots of lube. And I mean good lube not oil or vaseline. Dry masturbation is what damages the organ.
erunz: “These people walk by a widow deformed by leprosy…walk by children dressed in rags living in the street, and they think, ‘Business as usual.’ But if they perceive a slight against God, it is a different story. Their faces go red, their chests heave mightily, they sputter angry words. The degree of their indignation is astonishing. Their resolve is frightening.” ― Yann Martel, Life of Pi I was a JSS 2 Student at Ijemo Titun High School, Abeokuta when I joined the ‘Career Press Club’ (CPC). Attending the induction for young members, the Co-ordinator Mr. Akinola took his time to take us through the rudiments and elements of writing and writing well. An article must have a theme, he said. A concrete theme, he echoed. One should also never fail to call out anyone who thinks himself a writer and pens something that may be offensive or deemed offensive by the ‘gods of writing’. Such a fellow must be called out. As it is a duty one has to account for on the Day of Judgment. I read an article by one of Nigeria’s most outstanding youths and acclaimed ‘activist’, Mr. Japheth Omojuwa titled “Nigeria: The following class and the face of hypocrisy”. Reading the article first of all, I couldn’t pinpoint what the theme was. I had to read 4 more times to decipher the message the author was trying to pass across. I must confess at this point that the said article lacks so much substance to warrant an in-depth rejoinder. No issues were raised in the assemblage of words disguised as a well though-out article. However, I am here to take the writer on, on his attempt at approbating and reprobating; arguing for and against, without basically making a point. His attempt at sounding politically correct even if it means doing that at the expense of logical reason irked me and still irks me. I know he can do better. Hence this. The author started by trying to make his reader think the article was an unbiased critique of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration. But as Alaafin Sango said in 666B.C: “You can fool all the people some of the time or some of the people all the time. But you cannot fool all the people all the time”. Mr. Omojuwa’s article is a veiled attack on avowed critics of the Government whom he tagged “Wailing wailers”. He went all out to set a ‘we v them’ scenario. He accused the ‘wailing wailers’ of wanting the Government of the day to fail at all cost and that they’re still pained Goodluck Jonathan (whom he once called a PIG when he was a wailing wailer himself) lost the last elections. He went further by subtly asking the world to not take the ‘wailing wailers’ seriously but should instead listen to people like him who are the latter-day-saints saddled by the Almighty God with the sacred responsibility of determining how and when, the form and substance the critique of a Government should take and all what not. I must tell you fam, the article made me laugh. It is laughable. First things first, Mr. Omojuwa should know that it is not compulsory to criticize a Government. In fact, one is allowed to worship the President and the ruling party even if they are abject failures. It is however a sin, a fundamental one if I must add to try to insult our intelligence by engaging in ‘half thought out’ criticisms. Laughable attempts at appearing unbiased. Putting it succinctly, President Buhari can be criticized without reference being made to Mr. Jonathan, the PDP or some neon eyed god. It smacks of some kind of ‘insecurity’ and an undue knack to justify one’s BIG mistake when one has to justify the failures of the present Government on the ‘BIG’ achievement of ‘kicking’ Goodluck Jonathan out of office. It is not very responsible, if I must say. Mr. Omojuwa, a ‘lecturer’ at a German University made reference to some things I see on social media and never ever believed an ‘academic’ would include in an article to be read by the Intelligent, the pseudo-intelligent and the aspiring ‘intelligent’. Issues like ‘Why criticize Buhari when under Jonathan, Nigeria earned a lot of petrodollars which Jonathan frittered and ‘ate’ hurt me. These things break my very tender heart. There is a reason there is the internet. Asides championing the cause of the ‘downtrodden’, even ‘Overlords’ should be able to conduct ample research using the various search engines. And Google comes in handy here. A simple search, done under 2 minutes will show how former Governors fought the past President on sharing the ‘Excess Crude Account’. But that is a story for another day. It is also not very responsible when citizens who pay tax and deserve good governance are labelled ‘pained wailing wailers’ because of their political affiliations. To each his own. ‘Biri Ka Mbiri’. Motives for criticism should never be an issue as every citizen, irrespective of political leanings can call out the Government of the day. Politely I must say as I do not expect the opposition to be as lewd and rude as the e-opposition to Goodluck Jonathan which Omojuwa himself was an arrowhead of. Opposition should be with decency and should never be malafide. But even when such intentions are malafide, whoever arrogates the power of determining such acts ultra vires his powers. No one should however be maligned for his choice of political alignments. I believe those are the only stuff with resemblance of ‘serious issues’ in Mr. Omojuwa’s piece. Mr. President’s supporters like Japheth should stop the nose-in-the-air-i-am-better-than-you-you-know-not-what-is-good-for-you-because-you-are-not-progressives demeanour. It is nauseating, to say the least. But I must say, hypocrisy comes in different forms. It could come in the form of a suit wearing man or a normal person pretending to belong to the elite intelligentsia. It could even come in the form of an Overlord. It is a complex world. However, it must be said that the success or failure of the Buhari administration lies in the hands of these griots; some self-appointed, some ‘codedly-appointed’. Some appointed but hiding under the cloak of the ‘Human Rights Activist’ who mean well for Nigeria. It is imperative for these griots and Squealers to learn from the last administration. It is never going to hurt the President when things are spelt out the way they are, to the President. Without sugar-coating of any kind. White can never be ‘Black white’. It can only be white. It is what it is. For example, I expect the ‘advocates of good governance’ to tell the President in plain terms that the Country is falling apart. That businesses are on the death row… each waiting for the hangman. That the middle-class is being depleted and we are all being drawn down the poverty lane. That NOTHING seems to be working. These ‘advocates’ should be able to tell the President that he is failing and may remain a perpetual failure if things continue the way they are. These advocates do not need to worry about Goodluck Jonathan, the ‘wailing wailers’ or whoever. Goodluck Jonathan has been consigned to the annals of History and he is going to be judged. And he is not going to be judged by the ‘Wailing wailers’ or the ‘Hailing Hailers’. He is going to be judged by posterity. And no one is stopping the ‘Hailing Hailers’ from elevating the President to the status of a god and worshipping him. It is what it is. And I must say that Twitter basically protects people with writing deficiencies or let me say deficiencies in making sense in a long haul. Perhaps, due to the 140 character limit which is the biggest promoter of ‘pseudo-intelligence’ and grand delusion of grandeur. One may then be advised to keep the ‘substance-less’ grandstanding on Twitter for their select audience where such disguised ineptitude and lack of intellectual depth could be condoned and even hailed. MadCow1: President Jonathan lost the elections for the following reasons;
1. He was incompetent.. There is no other way to explain this.
2. He failed to deliver on the Trust Nigerians bestowed on him in 2011 (myself included).. There is no question that the result of the Presidential elections of 2011 reflected the choice of Nigerians. The FRESH AIR campaign of 2011 was a resounding success. Jonathan got the votes of the North, East, West and South.. He won that election because Nigerians wanted him and put their hopes on him. He seemed to not appreciate the level of trust and responsibility that was put upon him. If Jonathan had delivered, all he had to do was sit inside Aso Rock sleeping and let his works campaign for him. He didnt need to cater to any Godfathers or Power Blocs.. All he had to do was deliver to the People and allow a free and fair election in 2015 and let the same people who put him in power return him again with a resounding and overwhelming victory.. But NO!! He surrounded himself with psychophants, Militants and praise-singers who shielded him from the truth for selfish interests.,
3. Security: Like seriously.. He failed woefully here. His praise singers can lie to him and tell him Chibok never happened, but can he deny the Mubi Polytechnic Massacre? The Madala Christmas day Bombing? The Kano Mosque bombing? The Nyanya Bus Park Bombing, e.t.c... Then as if Boko Haram's activities were not bad enough, the scandal of flying cash into South Africa on a Private jet to procure arms made him look even more clueless than previously thought.
4. The Economy: How he allowed Okonjo Iweala and Diezani remain in power for the duration of his tenure would forever remain a shock. Diezani lost 50 Billion from the NNPC account, got negotiated downwards to 20 Million and that money as of today is still unaccounted for. Okonjo kept using the rebasing of the Economy (which experts say is just an academic exercise) to deceive Nigerians into believing that all was well with our economy and that we were experiencing economic growth.. Fast forward to 2016, Oil Prices drop and all of a sudden Nigeria's economy is on the brink of total collapse.
5. Corruption: How did Stella Oduah not ever get tried? How did Farouk Lawan not ever get tried or jailed? How did Diezani not ever get probed, tried or sacked despite overwhelming evidence against her? Why did he grant a Federal Amnesty to Alamiesigha?
6. Patience Jonathan.. His failure to control his household (His wife) cost him his presidency.
7. Foreign Reserves.. What in Gods name did Jonathan do with all the Billions of dollars left behind by President Obasanjo and late President Yaradua? He not only depleted the reserves but went back to borrowing from the IMF and putting us back into indebtedness that Obasanjo had negotiated and paid off..
This is just a brief summary... The sins of Jonathan are too numerous to mention..
He lost it because he showed Nigerians he did not have what it takes to be President.
Going by what you wrote, then this present Government should have ended. As they are not doing better. No indication shows they are doing better.
One more thing, resolves are always tested. Whenever it comes, please always remember that some persons believed in you and your resolve; and he told you so. If i see you offline I will tell you same .I believe you and I know you'll stand out by God's grace. I can never let someone who wants to stand fall when others want to fall or are falling... For the relationship equation, God almighty will match you correctly with the deserved best. In Jesus name.
Stupedinluv: At 20, i have come to realise the joy and fulfilment in living life to the fullest. Coming from a noble home, i was not raised to be a man's stooge not to talk of an animal's. My worth was defined from the day i stepped into earth and has been shapened overtime. I was taught the right and the wrong. And that moral laws condone no breaker. If a woman must be condemned and despised for a crime, a man must by all means face the same. I believed this and i knew before God and men it was the truth. I didnt just believe, it became real to me and has influenced my judgement.
However, the society has flung half of this truth and has held on to a part because of how drunk in power it has become and the advantage this fist had fetched it.
We are aware now of this evil conditioning that a woman who sleeps around is a slut and should be desired less but a man who does same a stud and should be the craving of every woman. Many men have quietly nodded in agreement and a few mouthy ones have not failed to vocalise their agreement. And women? So many to the shame of dignity and womanhood have sang along with the men. And you wonder which would sacrifice her pride to make a stud!?
Because to make more studs we need more sluts. Can any of you women come out and offer yourself to a man who would dump you for another. If you cannot hold your peace and stupidity!
A stud is a man who is sexually attractive to so many women. So they say! but i see a stud as an animal who is unable to control its sexual desires, hates monogamous relationships and (therefore) deserves to be judged and condemned.
Women who say they are attracted to studs and hate inexperienced men need not only their heads examined but their consciences and should not take offence when they are called sluts. Cos only a slut or zombie would reason this way.
A stud has nothing tangible to offer except to toy with my emotion, cause me heart breaks and render me unproductive.
For every stud out there there are ten whores rendering my gender useless and subjecting me to prove myself as a woman of pride and esteem all the time. Nothanks.
If this is truly you then I say thumbs up. I honestly didn't read any other post other than yours before posting. We are on the same page. This is what I've been advocating for years. This will make strong ladies. Keep it up.
Let me quickly add. Most people responding, are doing so from the point of their weakness. You wonder why they seem to have popular opinion, Many have been captured in the negative order of the last age. Only the different will make it through. Hold on, be different.
blueto: The essence of this thread is to dissenter and refute the points raised by the Original Poster(OP) of this thread https://www.nairaland.com/3011016/why-nigerian-commentators-should-not , of why he believes and assents that Nigerian commentators should be barred from commenting during our international matches.
I want to use this medium to beseech the OP and Nigerians with similar mindsets to jettison Xenocentrism (the belief that products, styles, or ideas of one's country or society is inferior to those that are practised and originated elsewhere). This is why most Nigerians prefer the “alluring” commodities, ideologies and culture of foreigners above theirs.
The two points stated by the OP as to why he maintains the belief that Nigerian commentators should be thwarted from commenting are: The case of them being Subjective in their approach, and the display of incompetence and anomia (difficulty in finding the correct word to use).
The issue of them being subjective is universal, even the European commentators are also culpable of such attempt. I watched the Champions League Final between Chelsea and Bayern Munich and the commentators were obviously expressing their supports for the English team(Chelsea) by saying “Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!” anytime a Chelsea player scored during their penalty shoot out, since the full-time failed to produce the winner. If the British could not reprimand their commentators for being bias and subjective, then why should we reprimand ours? You can watch the highlight here to answer for all skepticisms and inquisitions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xibKxX9iS5E .
The issue of them display incompetence can be resolve via formulating policies such establishing a vocational institute for out current and potential commentators to acquire assiduous training on commenting exercise.
They should ditch the mindset of appointing commentators base on their ability of to talk much, and being profound in Sports. They should be thought and made to imbibe the valid mechanisms of commenting.
Here is an encouraging comment from a Nairalander: .
Condemning ourselves is not a prerequisite for maintaining development.
