Please what's happens to immunization for babies as govt hospitals are on strike( I reside in Akure). DS's scheduled 9month immunization was for last week and we met the gates locked.

Do I go to private hospital for this immunization?

When is it too late to get this immunization?

Its easy taking care of a baby * u get what I mean*

Make a conscious effort of relaxing your mind and body.

Let your husband in on your emotions, don't bottle it up. Talking helps even though you get to say little per time

I made effort to surround myself with good melodies.

Whatever works for you, please try to feel yourself .

As for kpekusing things, when in was preggy, I slept in my biiday suit, I rarely covered up as I dey always complain of heat enkay u can try it.At least we were thrice a week ( every other day so hoohaa can receive empowerment)

Well how i started was he was admited cos he had acute diarhoea then and had to take drip. The doctors couldnt find vain anywhere except the hand he sucks the finger so that was the beginning. That day, the hospital knew they had visitor cos he cried and both eyeswere swollen. He kept trying to suck the finger but couldnt. He was discharged after 4 days and i continued putting plaster round the whole palm cos he still kept trying. After a week i stopped wrapping the whole palm and started plastering just the thumb. Well there were times he sucked the finger with the plaster but of couse he didnt like it. To get him to sleep without sucking was frustrating but i was more determined mainly because he was not eating and was having repeated episodes of diarrhea which i believe he got from putting dirty hand in his mouth. I persisted for a month till he eventually forgot totally and his appetite is good now, eats adult food and no more episode of diarrhea. We finished a whole roll of plaster on top this matter.

You have to be firm. Babies always cry but at the same time they 'gbakamu' faster than adults. My baby stopped sucking breast at 6months but sucked his finger like the finger wan comot. When i decided to stop him at 9 months. He cried and almost brought the whole house down but i ignored o. There were times i was tempted to leave him but i keep saying just one more day. It took a whole month to stop him but he has finally stopped. The thing is once he sees this woman no send me he will stop the cry eventually and accept whatever you give him.

I've always been strongly against taking herbal medicine in pregnancy. Even the one a friend gave me to take in 1st trimester, i threw it away.
My mum just sent me fever medicine(agbo) and said it'll help clear my system totally of fever and prevent jaundice in my baby. I insisted she shouldn't send it but she kept reassuring me that she cant send what will harm me and my baby.
I'm team #NoAgboInPregnancy but is she in anyway right? I don't want anything to happen later and she'll say shey i told you to take the medicine.

Our mothers ehn, God bless them for us.

I used to catch cold at the slightest exposure to cold water or AC before I got pregnant...sotey, if e start, I go wear like two sweaters, jeans, stockings...
But this pregnancy changed the whole thing... Hubby will be shivering, and I'll put on two fans and still open the window, and sleep unclad... He'll just wrap himself up and be asking me if I'm normal... And I dey chew ice block anyhow...
I guess I'll also have to cut down on these things too, before I go enter trouble...

This is sooooo me when I was pregnant.....I slept on bare tiles sef sometimes

Immediately I delivered , twas as if the pores on my skin were enlarged and breeze was gushing in...... not funny things ooooo even with windows closed.

I was practically drinking hot water, steam bath .... name it and I got better less than 3 months.

Anyways for FTMs that were looking for price ranges ,here is what I saw ooo...

1.Body suits - (George which is a set of 3 was 3500naira , Carter which is 5 in 1 also 3500naira. .

2. Sleep suits- (A set of 3 in 1 too was 3500naira -4000naira

3. Bath- foreign bath (10k-15k depending on the type you want; Nigerian made - smallest grade 2500naira, higher grade- 5500naira

4. Baby net and foam- smaller grade 4k, foreign 6K

5.flannel - a set is 2500naira

6. Receiving blanket - different grades ranging 4k- 6K

7. Shawl- different grades too, 2k, 3k, 4k and even 5k. The better the feel, the higher the amt

8. Drier ( hanger)- Nigerian made metal ranges 4-6k , plastic 6k -8k, ;foreign 10k- 20k.

9. Cupboard - Nigerian made (black horse)5steps is 8500naira, 4steps is 7000naira . Foreign is 30k and above

Carrier - 4500naira - 7k depends on product.
Walker - 8k and above depending on product
sterilizing unit - boots 8k, Chicco 13k
Breast pump - manual Tommy tippee 7k, electric 21k

Mamas on restricted budget like me, find the nearest OK markets and pick some of your babies wears like cover all's, socks, caps etc. Wash, put in dettol, iron and pack. You are good to go....

Other mama's that have shopped , or window shopped, share your prices...

Am a FTM, what I did before I put to bed was shop in PEP, on my ANC days I go there from the hospital and you know some things were discounted.

I only bought one 0-3 months top and short for DS, lawyer suit- a set of 3(3-6months)

a pack of onesies for 3-6 months, 9-12 months and 12-18 months respectively, singlets, sleeveless wears ( not from PEP, I had gotten as gift so no need).

Sleep suits was a pack of 3 I bought in ANC- 1,200

Outing tops and short is 6 months and above , need I say that PEP has nice quality things too.

I didn't stick to newborn size or 0-3 months cos babies grow fast.

His toys( rattle, vehicle band, helicopter, truck, pack of different things etc) too weren't left out, I got them before I put to bed( sales thingy) and they were ranging N150-N700.

For diaper, molfix works for us wella and I buy a big pack of almost 100 for the month, need I say also that I get it for 2600.( buying it in bulk pays )


I had to apply wisdom cos I relocated after wedding so income comes only from DH.


That's why it is good to shop in 2nd trimester when you still feel sexy and strông.

Gudmorning I really don't mind the loose stool so far this ish is sorted out! How do I go about the ampiclox? He is 6 months old.

My DS also had it and I went the way of ampiclox when he was about 5 months as prescribed by his paed, it was administered every 8 hours but just 2.5 ml and for a period of 5 days.


It dried off from within but as from 6 months+, it reappeared, I then went the way of the red leaf in bathing him ONLY, because it comes and goes.

I also ensure he wears loose clothing as occasion demands ( i do this often)and keep him as fresh as possible not forgetting using savlon for his bathing and laundry of his dresses.

Baby tribotan didn't work for me, baby tetmosol did at a point and stopped but his Johnson baby works for him.

As for d hard part when it bursts, DS had plenty, I apply Shea butter so it loosens out and dries.

MIL said its occurs to babies that would be plus weight and some babies just use that to bring out teeth instead of falling ill and encouraged more use of the red leaf.

And after the scan they gave me the result I should go no explanation oh that I should come back next month 17th is my next appointment hmm, hope it is well. Thanks for ur reply.

In order to cope with the current climate conditions, experts have advised that we:

1. Should drink more water to keep hydrated. Keep a water bottle with you to remind you to take water. Avoid alcoholic and caffeinated drinks during this period.
2. Reduce intake of foods that are rich in protein because they increase metabolic heat. Fresh foods, fruits and vegetables are better options.
3. Monitor your blood pressure
4. Should, as much as possible, stay indoors between 12noon and 3pm
5. Should take cold baths before going to bed at night

pls I have some questions. I was confirmed pregnant on monday and the doctor prescribed folic acid, ferrous sulphate, vitamin C & a multivitamin (it's dark brown in color). My next appointment is on the 2nd of May. He also asked me to stop the pregnacare conception I was using b4 I took in. However he didn't ask me to switch to pregnacare original (for pregnant women) and I'm a bit concerned, so I thought to ask if it's not compulsory to take pregnacare cos a lot of people recommend it.

Also, before now I normally sleep on my stomach and I am finding it difficult to change sleeping positions. Any clues to how I could get used to sleeping on my side?? My mum is freaking out about it so much.....lol.

The tabs given to you are routine drugs, sabi mamas would torchlight on the usage of pregnacare alongside though I don't think you can use both( I used only routine drugs) .

For the sleeping position, I would say practice, practice and practice so you can get really used to it. I am a tummy sleeper too but I had to adjust(very difficult), I made sure my laying down during the day(not necessarily waiting till naptime at night) was on my side( particularly the left) . This worked for me, other sabi mamas would torchlight still.

Separation anxiety I guess.

For the cry situation, any thing Mosopefoluwa does, I mimick him and tell him I can do same, he then stops to look at me , I did it for a week thereabout.

Also, I have discovered his favourite toys, I let him have them and we make faces at each other ( I am not working at the moment so I have time for now)

My MIL explained then that babies think their mother would run away by the time they are awake so they do every to ensure they are in their mother's reach( donno if its old wives tale Jere)

Sabi mommas, please torchlight on this matter , esp how to help our cuties sleep for a while at noon.

I do hide and seek now, works sometimes.

God keep them for us.

I am an insurance policy holder with Mutual Benefit Assurance Limited, through one of their marketers. He disappeared after a while and when I saw another of their marketers, I explained to him and he went to their office in Asokoro Abuja to change it.

He collected the premium from me for a while and disappeared again. He told me he wasn't working there again. I went to their office after a long while and they gave me a form to fill for termination. I filled the form and submitted same on the 1st of December, 2015 and got a message of acknowledgment from them, with a phone number attachment.

I have tried to call the number, severally, but it was switched off. I copied a number from their jacket, but when I called it, the receiver told me that he has resigned from the company. As there is no official information from the company and they are sitting on my 80k, please advise me on how to retrieve my money. My policy number is ISP/13/136698/ABJ.

Attached are the pictures of my receipts and other documents to buttress my claim.

How many years was your policy?

If it has matured, you can get your money.

I had a policy with them and I have collected my money. Try this number 07098767003 ( this was the number I tried, I got it from the receipts given to me).

Also, you can get your money even if you are not in Lagos, as long as they have a branch office in the state you are in.
