slade31: The APC has been consistent in saying that thePDP has ruled Nigeria for 16 disastrous years inwhich corruption, impunity, insurgency, armedrobbery and several ills of society held sway, but at a very close lookat the APC, I am seeing Amaechi - 8yrs speaker;7yrs governor under PDP,Atiku - 8yrs Vice president under PDP, Akume -8yrs governor under PDP,Bukola Saraki - 8yrs governor; 2yrs Senatorunder PDP, Timipre Sylver -4yrs governor under PDP, Audu Ogbe - 2yrschairmanof PDP, Aminu Masari - 4yrs Reps speaker underPDP, Chris Ngige - 3yrsgovernor under PDP, Kwankwaso - 7yrsgovernor,3yrs Defense ministerunder PDP, El rufai - 4yrs FCT minister, 2yrsBPE chairman under PDP andto cap it all they went to OBJ begging, a manwho spent 8 of thedisastrous 16yrs as the maximum ruler ofNigeria to come and lead themon a rescue mission. It is now clearer that APCis a waste basket of thePDP, where the people who created andperpetuated the " 16 Disastrousyears" are now dumped. please Nigerians whatis the change in this APC? I agree with you. If the APC wins next years elections, their supporters will be shocked to discover the only change they'll have is a change in nomenclature from PDP to APC. Its still the same personalities and same ideas. PDP members will even decamp to the APC and continue with their looting. I'm more for strong personalities and intelligent ideas. Voting along party lines in Nigeria is just plain stupid |

bushdoc9919: It is most likely his PhD is the genuine article....back in those days, PhD's tended to be strictly scrutinized (Me dad was a university lecturer, and got his PhD back then....though from a foreign university. Speaking of those days, he mentioned that standards were higher...and strictly enforced). Standards were a lot higher....plus you had the faculties and access to the latest journals in those days (until the oil price crash of the 80's made it difficult for most universities). 1987 to 1995. A very notorious era in the Nigerian educational system. Bsc, Masters and PhD degrees were bought and sold to the highest bidders. I've seen all his CNN interviews and Presidential media chats. There is no evidence that this guy once lectured students as a Doctor! No confidence, flow, depth, intelligence, nothing! Search YouTube for his interview with Amanpour. As a matter of national emergency, we really need to lay hands on Jonathan's PhD thesis. I'd be shocked if he actually wrote one |

If the guy was one exceptional leader like that, nobody would send even if he spent 15yrs in primary school. But its the same Jonathan that isn't even confident enough to address a press conference or maintain eye contact during an interview, and that is married to an illiterate. I agree with the OP's scrutiny of his academic qualifications. The guy may have a Phd, but he's always struck me as an unintelligent person. We should even go further and search for his PhD thesis and scrutinise. Its possible that Nigeria is being run by a slowpoke that has no business at the helm of our affairs. |

Jonathan may have a PhD but his CV looks very unappealing compared to Buhari's. OP even used double line spacing for Jonathans CV to make it look bulky, and single line spacing for Buhari's. Buhari has more administrative experience, albeit under military regimes, than Jonathan. Buhari is also well travelled, having trained in the UK, India and the US. Jonathan is just Portharcourt, Otuoke and Abuja. If I had to vote based on CV, I'd vote Buhari. |

The best place to prosecute him now is the court of public opinion so that when he is eventually arrested after his tenure nobody will say he is being persecuted bc he belongs to opposition party. Lol the PDP is actually accusing someone of corruption? Wonders will never end! |

Scrypt: Nigeria is suffering from Immiserising growth syndrome, a subset of the Dutch disease.
Crude oil came with awesome promises but was welcomed by greedy hands.
Diversification is important, very important, but trust me, it will never match the benefits from a commodity such as crude oil.
Anyway, time to vote out PDP.
The essence of diversification is to reduce the exposure of the foreign exchange burse to shocks and volatility from a single stream of earning, oil. If we had a very diverse burse, we wouldn't be having a run on our reserves now. |

You guys are just unnecessarily lousy and that's why your so called proclaimed saviour said he would make sure the prize of oil is stabilized. He probably thinks the price of oil could be manipulated like the price of cattle. |
Politics › Re: Crashing Oil Prices; A Blessing In Disguise For Nigeria!!!! by duni04(m): 9:09am On Dec 20, 2014 |
Those idots we have in government don't know that now is the perfect time to present a convincing argument for the removal of petrol price regulation. Petrol price has plummeted everywhere else except in Nigeria! If we remove the subsidy on petrol today, Nigerians will buy oil at a slightly cheaper rate and it will free up plenty of money for the Federal Government. |
Business › Re: Job Losses Loom As Naira Sells 194 To Dollar by duni04(m): 8:49am On Dec 20, 2014 |
tit: a weaker naira means that it will be cheaper to produce goods in nigeria and sell to the world! this should be an employment opportunity for hardworking people and entrepreneurs. Not cheaper, more expensive in fact. Only commodities exporters will gain from a weaker naira because they'll earn more nairas for every dollar worth of their commodities. Industrial manufacturers on the other hand will have to pay more nairas for raw materials and machinery which they have to import. |
Business › Re: Job Losses Loom As Naira Sells 194 To Dollar by duni04(m): 8:16am On Dec 20, 2014 |
If our petrol prices were unregulated, manufacturers would have used the massive discount from low oil prices to offset the rising cost of importing raw materials. Now our manufacturers are suffering what manufacturers shouldn't suffer in an oil producing country. What a disaster! |
