PerfumeRepublik: Hello ....that's called damage control , coming out with the truth yourself before your opponents do that...my simple observations. That's why Toyota, Nissan recall faulty cars before the media uses it against em There was never a time the general said anything abt his daughters marriage though, But tryna sell stuff with lies is a fail Didn't say the report was right or wrong. Just saying Buhari should be ready to face the same level of public scrutiny that Jonathan has enjoyed (or suffered) over the years, especially from Sahara reporters. |

Buhari is old, mechanical and very ignorant of Nigerias deep issues. If I had to pick between them, I'd pick Buhari, though I think Nigeria can do better than him. |

Think I agree with you. Buhari is silent, if not ignorant, on the major issues. His only selling point is his honesty. Now that he's sarted flirting with Atiku and Tinubu, he may no longer have a selling point. |
Nairaland General › Re: Why We Could Not Defeat Boko Haram"- Army Commander Writes A Powerful Letter To by duni04(m): 9:17am On Dec 16, 2014 |
Its really naive to think our military is somehow insulated from the social realities in the larger Nigerian society. Nigeria is an insanely corrupt country. Its hardly surprising that our military is no different. Our military is as reflection of the larger society. The sad part is that unless we curb the corruption within the larger society, our military will continue to reflect the excesses within the society |

Politics › Re: OPEC Refusal To Cut Supplies, Finally Affecting Shale Oil Production by duni04(m): 9:14am On Dec 14, 2014 |
Shale oil is not really the problem. The problem is extremely low demand for oil from emerging markets.China is growing at its lowest pace for almost 15 years. Same with other emerging markets. At the time of the massive boom in growth from emerging markets, IOC's invested a lot in exploration to meet the anticipated demand in oil. If the emerging markets are growing at the same pace they did last decade, there wouldnt be a glut in oil in even with shale oil. We need China, India, Brazil, Russia and the rest of Europe to start growing again. When they do, the demand would be large enough to swallow all the oil on the market. |

Even if you want to do fixed income, there are fixed income securities that peg the interest they pay to the CBNs MPR rate which currently stands at 13%. Earning 7% or 8% a year is just scandalous, too scandalous! |

DonDiego: Turned into overnight billionaires, huh? LOL. You sure have a talent for hyperbole. The equities market that I personally remember post-2008/9 is one in which several players became very shy and moved whatever was left of their huge losses into other asset classes such that as late as 2012 or so the House of Reps was still lamenting about the non-recovery of the stock market while blaming SEC for not doing enough. Now, to make matters worse, all alleged paper billionaires have again seen their imaginary gains erased these past few months that there are now serious talks in credible circles of another imminent stock market crash. As they say in the equities market these days, those who have cash are king. And so apt, that. Lol very ironic! Oga if you have money now better go and start buying stocks because they're currently trading at their cheapest prices. Future billionaires are stocking up on stocks now. Like 2008, many stock market billionaires will emerge in 2015. |

Caracta: After all i lost, i wouldn't go near equities again.
Other ways like? I started trading equities when I was 20 and i've never lost anything. Its when you ignorantly buy into a company without checking the history or fundamentals that you get burnt. Even if you ignorantly buy into a stock and the price dips, you only lose when you sell prematurely. If you're patient enough to wait for the price to climb back while enjoying the divends they pay you, where's the loss? |

DonDiego: If only it is as neat and simple as you make it sound. The volatility of the equities market is such that it can drive heavy losers into suicide as it did around 2008/9 here in Nigeria and around the world. The money market instrument we are discussing here isnt as volatile. Funny u mentioned 2008 cos after the burst that year, many people bought equities at record lows and turned into overnight billionairs from 2009 to 2011, while people like you were screaming that venturing into the stock market would lead to suicide. |

DonDiego: On the other hand you could also easily lose 10% a day in the equities market esp in these endless bearish days. U never lose money in equities. You buy a stake in a company and if the company does well, the price climbs and you sell higher. If it doesnt, you wait till the next quarter. Very simple. That's apart from the dividend they pay u. |

All we need now is for the China and other BRIC countries to announce higher Q4 growth figures which will then spur demand for oil. Forget the elections, if there is a rebound in oil price by January, back to 100dpb, fpi's will scramble to re enter Nigeria. |
