Okay. I know the IDU is the one which has pro version. They have used that version consistently among esim and physical sim, black and then white IDUs.

However, the manufacturer now has X17M pro, which I know Airtel will someday import. So when they do, I will buy it again as a renewal to the monthly subs.

For context, same manufacturer has X25. They later made X25 pro, which Airtel imported. Now the latest version of that router is X25 Max 2 and Airtel is now selling it.
Okay, I understand.

Airtel's eSim API has problems and it seems their BE Engineers don't want to fix it grin

Or so I think

But Airtel is doing only external sim now for their new ODUs.

I will buy another ODU if they bring back the Huawei or any time they upgrade the ZLT to X17m pro.
I am not aware of the ODU ZLT X17M pro. When I got my ZLT, it was the IDU that had a pro version, which is the ZLT W304VA PRO. I think you have it mixed up.

Have you confirmed that their current ZLT stock doesn't include the IDU ZLT W304VA PRO?

Well, I was informed by their staff that they have stopped restocking the Esim variant as a result of the issues they were having with them, and that their new ZLT stock has physical sim provision only.

Thanks for this analysis so you're on the 100mbps plan right i think i will go for the ZLT it comes with esim but i heard that i can also use physical sim
The current ZLT with white IDU doesn't have Esim support, just physical sim.

Airtel has the worst service in my area and I don't know if they have a fiber optic service like fiberx because I've not seen any around.
They do have Fibre service with similar pricing and speed as MTN, but not as widely available.

Hi guys,
I can see the mtn pole in my area but cant find my area listed as a fiberx location on mtn website.

How else can i order this fiberx asides through the mtn website?
Call 300 on your MTN line and ask to be transferred to the broadband help desk. There might be a direct line to broadband, but I don't know.

You go need to sub the 45k own
No, you don't need the 45k plan to stream 4k files. On my first subscription, I used to watch 4k movies with sizes ranging between 30 to 48GB. The problem is not really the size of the file, but the bitrate of the file. A 40GB file might have a bitrate of 49 or 50Mbps, which is the full speed of the plan. If you live in a location where network is excellent, you will enjoy streaming.

However, I have observed that Airtel network has become terrible lately. Once it is 7pm or thereabout, the network becomes difficult to use for streaming, until around 10 to 11pm. I am specifically talking about streaming 4k files, cos I don't watch 1080p (FHD) files.

Okay. Do you think the reception is not good enough?
I do think the reception, especially for 491,3256 is good enough. Bands 8 and 3 are 'Excellent', according to the router app but perform worse than band7.
It will definitely perform better when mounted outside. The fact that you are getting good signal indoor, shows that coverage in your location is good. However, the performance will improve significantly when mounted outside.

gsparks01:
this increases speed? How does it work?
No, it helps in extending the router coverage, maintaining good speed. When moving around your house, you might not notice that you are not connected to the main router as it seamlessly transfers your device to the router that has the strongest coverage in the area you are.

It becomes capped at 2Mbps, that's about 250KBps in download speed.

It should work.

This my Huawei Airtel ODU I noticed that the ipv4 was enabled and the ipv6 was disabled by airtel, why ? Does it have any effect on speed? Do you advise me to enable the ipv6? If yes how do I set it up?
The real question is, does Airtel offer ipv6?
To find out, enable ipv6 and visit whatismyipaddressdotcom

I tried visiting the site while connected to the ZTE Airtel ODU, which I am not sure has the option to enable ipv6, however, the site didn't detect ipv6. But with my Starlink, it detected my ipv6 address.

The attached is my Ridgeline mount box. The fascinating thing about the Ridgeline mount is that it eliminates the need to drill your roof, as it comes with 4 Ballasts weights that hold the mount down on your roof.

I'm looking at getting the adapter first. Without it, one can't use a pole..Elon is crazy, i swear..

The only thing i see here is won't have to buy any ethernet adapter. The Gen3 router already has an extra port for that

I will have to make use of the mount/Pole currently using for the Gen2. Scanning the sky from that side gave me 99.99% clear sky view
Yeah, the Gen 3 router has 2 Ethernet ports you can connect to other devices.

I ordered for a Gen 3 Pivot mount, which I never used, because I was eventually sent the flagship Gen 3 Ridgeline mount by my brother. It's the most expensive of the mounts.

If anyone is interested in the Pivot mount, I am willing to sell at 140k

It has arrived. Someone said it here that i will receive it by Tuesday (today) and fiam, DHL knocked my gate for delivery

Na set up i dey so. Need to compare the speeds between this Gen 3 and Gen 2
The only time I notice any difference is during off-peak periods. Like in the middle of the night, I do get up to 400+Mbps. But that's because Abuja is at capacity, so performance is poor for the most part of the day. As you already know, the Gen 3 router is WiFi 6, which is better than Gen 2's WiFi 5.

Sometimes I wish I was living in isolated environments where one can achieve 300+Mbps night and day.

I changed the ip, was able to login to normal admin portal but couldn't do much with it. Root still didn't login, internet didn't work.

Funnily enough, my phone, which browsed initially, stopped browsing when I tried other ports and back to the first lan port.

Now I have a theory as to why it initially browsed on phone and not pc. I turned 5G optimization on and the phone typically connects with 2.4Ghz and the pc 5Ghz. Apparently using the X25 as wired router only works with 2.4Ghz when 5G Optimization is on. I stand to be corrected.

I tried many times to get the router to browse again even on the phone with no luck. I even had to switch off the 5g optimization and reboot the router many times with no success. I had to reluctantly reset it to factory settings, still to no avail.

I just plugged MC801A back. I no dey try again jare. Maybe tomorrow but not tonight again cheesy
Thanks for the effort. I will also try again tomorrow.

Log in as root user, find the Internet Function settings, go to network settings and change the WAN mode to wired.
This only works with ZLT, not ZTE.

By this, I guess you mean the G5F? The MC801A can have its DNS server changed. You can set it if you choose Static instead of Dynamic.
I was trying to set it up but don't know what to put in the Default Gateway field. If anyone knows what it is, I can check again to see if it will work. When I was using just the X25, I changed the primary and secondary DNS servers to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 respectively but still not able to visit pexels without VPN.

I haven't tried using the X25 because, since it's an Airtel router, I have taken it elsewhere where I will sometimes use the ODU sim to browse in it. @saint2ace said it's plug and play and it appears he has tried it. Abeg @saint2ace come explain how you used it.

In any case, I will try go take the X25 and try later this evening or next week, for science. Just that I have somewhat permanently put the router arrangements in place and the MC801 is well fitted in its place.
I replied you and the bot deleted my comment unnecessarily. I don't understand what's going on Nairaland. There was nothing explicit in any way in my comment. Seun, you need to do something about your bot.

Anyway, I don't know the default gateway either.

Regarding the DNS, I don't think changing it changes anything. Only the use of VPN has been effective for me.

Yeah, I have tried the X25 as IDU and i keep getting the 'No Internet' error, so I don't think it's plug and play. Some setting has to be changed, I just don't know where the connection mode is for the router. I mean where to change it to Cable mode, and then proceed to select either Dynamic or Static. Hopefully, you may be able to figure it out.

If it's possible, could you post pics of how the mount goes into the base of the Starlink Gen 3?

Please are you able to visit pexels dot com seamlessly?

Did you connect through dynamic mode or you set up the static IP option?

I don't know why Airtel is struggling to open this site in all my routers. I have to always use a VPN before it works well.
I just tried visiting the site but it wouldn't load.
If there was a way to change the DNS settings on the ZTE router, that would have resolved it. I haven't found that setting.

Yeah, I chose Dynamic IP option.

BTW, have you tried using your X25 as the IDU? I tried it but I couldn't find the connection mode settings.
