NSEstudent: I like how the external Sim is working.
Those routers were originally made to use physical sim. Na Airtel wan use am do restriction.
The reason I suggested band lock is because, since yesterday that I started trying the locking stuff, I have been experimenting and all the better cells in my router are on the same band. From your tests, what 4G band achieves the best speed consistently? |

Unfaized: I envy pipo that have 5G. The thing is, there's no Airtel base station anywhere close to my estate. So, I just told the installer to mount it on my face board and point it towards an open area. The performance hasn't been great. Sometimes, even with full 5G and 4G signal strength, it refuses to browse and would have to restart it and tinker with severally before it starts browsing. I will try the cell locking thing to see if it helps. |

Guys, so the ZTE ODU was installed today. However, I noticed that the interface is completely different from the the ones I have been seeing here. It's also nothing like the ZLT ODU's interface. It's so basic and annoying. I can't even see what network type (5G, 4G) I am on, or signal strength. I really don't understand it. Is there any other ip address for advanced settings? I am currently accessing the interface via 192.168.18.1

Ex0rrcist: The fact that mine worked properly, and I browse with it before he packed back into the carton is what's making me confused and angry. That's strange. From what I was told by an Airtel staff, the variants that have Esim were giving them challenges, and that's why they decided not to restock them. The new ones they issue all have physical sim only. For those that may have the option of choosing at the point of purchase, get the ZLT that has a white IDU. That one has physical sim only. |

ORIJIN201: He has every right to punish them by leaving. If we all do this when their service is bad, they will understand that they will have to be on top of their game at all times and in the end, it will be to the benefit of customers. We Nigerians simply take too much nonsense from these companies and they take us a fool for it. PS. I am using the same service and it has been very good on my end, but it could be me tomorrow. You guys still don't understand how fibre works, maybe that's the problem. No matter how proactive a service provider is, when it comes to fibre, the challenges are enormous in Nigeria. This is why I stay away from fibre, even though it's the best internet connectivity, yet the most unreliable in Nigeria. First of all, there are no effecient laws protecting service providers infrastructure. Anybody can damage their infrastructure without consequence, as long as it's not outright theft. Service providers are helpless because the government can not do its work. You guys think it's easy to keep deploying workers to multiple locations to fix damaged infrastructure. Sometimes, property owners make it very difficult for the service providers to even access their own infrastructure. |

Hullabaloon: Thought starlink is the final bus stop when it comes to reliability Unfortunately, the resources dedicated to Africa by Starlink isn't much compared to Europe, Americas and other parts of the world. TBH, it's understandable given the difference in what we pay. The good thing about Starlink is, there's virtually no downtime. It becomes quite slow during daytime, but still works. |

Unfaized: I see. You also have a starlink, how are you shuttling both? Do you pay for subscription for both at same time?
I was looking to replace the Airtel with my Starlink but was forced to activate mine when Airtel was out for 1 week. I am currently using both, trying to decide if it's worth taking the risk with Airtel. How is your experience so far? My Starlink is also active. I can't cancel because I won't be able to get back on it, as Abuja has reached capacity. Starlink performance has been terrible in Abuja for the past few weeks, so I use the Airtel mainly for Streaming stuff that Starlink is unable to. |

So it is now 100% confirmed that it also works with external sim too, as @Akin had suggested earlier.
Is this your second or third ODU though? Yes, it has Esim and physical sim provision. No, my second. |

Like I said before, once the registration is completed, wait until it starts working before you leave the office.
Earlier today, I registered for a new one. Thank God their manager, who is a more experienced staff was there.
So, I opted for the ZTE variant. After registration was completed, they weren't sure if it was successful or not, but they were saying it would go through eventually. Then they showed their manager, who was standing nearby. He told them that it would fail, and that they should swap the line with a physical sim. Once that was done, they said I should go, that it would work. I then insisted on testing it before leaving. So, the manager himself inserted the sim inside the device and asked me to connect to it. Once I made sure that it was browsing, I left. |
