from your previous post you thought I meant a lawmaker and I tried to clarify by telling you I didn't mean a single lawmaker. Anyway you can sue him when his tenure is over.

Which money? The lawmakers tried to indict him because he demolished some of their properties. if he was guilty, he would have been jailed, don't you think so?

That is a big red flag. How come your wife does not know your birthday? The US takes these types of discrepancies serious. Your best bet will be for your wife to change it from her end to the correct date.

Those are seawolf workers
ABUJA—The Nigerian economy risks another economic shut down in the next couple of days, as workers of Seawolf Oilfield Services, yesterday, promised to work with the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, to compel the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, to pay them their 22 months’ salary arrears.

A recent strike by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, branch of NUPENG and PENGASSAN following disagreements over the transfer of operatorship rights in some oil wells, almost brought the Nigerian economy to a standstill, as businesses and homes were starved of petroleum products and power supply for several days.

Speaking at the premises of AMCON in Abuja, during a peaceful protest organized by workers of the company, Mr. Christian Okojie and Mr. Godfrey Okoloba, Chairmen of NUPENG and PENGASSAN, Seawolf branch, respectively, told Vanguard that the workers were last paid in December 2013 and January 2014, adding that they are presently being owed 22 months outstanding salaries.

They stated that the workers had met with the management of AMCON in Abuja three weeks ago, where the Managing Director of AMCON, Mr. Mustapha Chike-Obi promised to address the situation within 48 hours.

They said: “Till today, he has failed to resolve the issue and the 48 hours have since elapsed. We have written them severally over the promises they made three weeks ago, yet they refused to meet with us. That is the reason we decided to stage this protest.”

The company’s three oil drilling rigs had been seized by AMCON for about a year now, depriving the company of any means of generating income to pay off its indebtedness and its workers. The rigs, when operational, are capable of generating a minimum of $150,000 per day.

In a sharp reaction the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Asset Management Company of Nigeria Mr. Chike Obi told Vanguard in a Telephone interview that the workers’ union were simply blackmailing AMCON believing that as a government agency it would accede to their blackmail. He said that Seawolf was indebted to AMCON and it seized its assets in order to recover its money. He said that AMCON has no direct relationship with the said workers.

Tricky situation. Are they AMCON employees? Is AMCON responsible for paying their severance package?

As long as they were legally acquired then no problem. How did the paper arrive at the value? All he is required to do is to declare his assets and not value the assets for example the cost of a two bedroom house in Asokoro varies and the job of the CCB is to confirm that he indeed owns the said property.

Comprehension problems here.
Have you seen the video of a police officer that died in Kaduna when he went with his bare hands to check a package placed by the roadside even when it was suspected to a bomb? He died instantly when the package blew in his face. If that guy was carrying a bomb. then the NSCDC officer was on a suicide mission. There are better ways to have handled the situation than he did.

Politics › Saudi Prince Alwaleed Pledges $32bn To Charity by dustydee(op): 9:10pm On Jul 01, 2015
Saudi Arabia’s billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has pledged his entire $32bn fortune to charitable projects over the coming years.

The prince said in a statement that the “philanthropic pledge will help build bridges to foster cultural understanding, develop communities, empower women, enable youth, provide vital disaster relief and create a more tolerant and accepting world.”

The donation “will be allocated according to a well-devised plan throughout the coming years”, he said, but stressed there was no time limit for the donation to be spent.

Alwaleed said he would head a board of trustees tasked with spending the funds, adding the pledge would still be used after his death “for humanitarian projects and initiatives”.

At a press conference, he said his pledge was modelled on The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the US.

In addition to media investments, Kingdom Holding has interests ranging from the Euro Disney theme park to Four Seasons hotels and Citigroup.

He is constructing a tower in the Red Sea city of Jeddah which is to rise more than one kilometre to be the world’s tallest building.

Earlier this year, Alwaleed opened a pan-Arab news channel in Bahrain but authorities there shut the station after less than 24 hours on air and a new home is being sought.

Alwaleed last week in Paris signed a letter of intent with France’s CDC International Capital to create the first French-Saudi investment fund, worth up to $400 million.

A separate deal saw a French consortium and CDC IC invest about $150 million in Kingdom Holding.

Alwaleed told reporters he has already donated a total of $3.5bn over more than 35 years through his Alwaleed Philanthropies.

The charity has distributed houses and provided electricity to isolated Saudi communities, while supporting other projects around the world.

Programming › Google Apologises After Photos App Tags Black Couple As Gorillas by dustydee(op): 8:36pm On Jul 01, 2015
Google has been forced to apologise after its image recognition software mislabelled photographs of black people as gorillas.
The internet giant's new Google Photos application uses an auto-tagging feature to help organise images uploaded to the service and make searching easier.
However the software has outraged users after it mislabelled images of a computer programmer and his friend as the great apes.
Google said it was 'appalled' and 'genuinely sorry' for the mistake.
The fault comes just over a month after Flickr's autotagging system placed potentially offensive tags on images including mislabelling concentration camps as 'jungle gyms' and people as apes.
Google launched its standalone Photos app in May, announcing a number of features such as automatically creating collections of people and objects like food or landscapes.

Tapping on a person's face was also intended to search for other pictures of that person in your collection.
However on Monday, Jacky Alcine, from Brooklyn, New York, spotted photos of him and a female friend posing for the camera had been grouped into a collection tagged 'gorilla'.
In a series of Tweets to Google he said: 'Google Photos, y'all f***** up. My friend's not a gorilla.
'The only thing under this tag is my friend and I being tagged as a gorilla.
'What kind of sample image data you collected that would result in this son?
'And it's only photos I have with her it's doing this with.
'I understand how this happens, the problem is more so on the why. This is how you determine someone's target market.'
His tweets triggered a response from Yonatan Zunger, chief architect of social at Google, who said programmers were working on a fix to the problem.
He said: 'Thank you for telling us so quickly. Sheesh. High on my list of bugs you *never* want to see happen. Shudder.'
However, even after a fix had been issued Mr Alcine reported two photos were still showing up under the terms gorilla and gorillas.
Mr Zunger later said that Google had turned off the ability for photographs to be grouped under that label to stop the problem.
'Lots of work being done, and lots still to be done. But we're very much on it.
Google launched its Photo app in May this year
'We should have a patch around searches turning up pics of partially obscured faces out very soon.'
Google has now issued an official apology for the mistake and said its image labelling technology was still in its infancy and so not yet perfect.
Previously some users have noticed photos of horses being labelled as dogs for example.
The company said Google Photos also includes a feature that allows users to remove results on incorrectly labelled images, which can help train its image recognition software to be more accurate.
A spokesman said: 'We're appalled and genuinely sorry that this happened. We are taking immediate action to prevent this type of result from appearing.
'There is still clearly a lot of work to do with automatic image labeling, and we're looking at how we can prevent these types of mistakes from happening in the future.'

Yea, a half smart lawyer will easily win this. There is a big loophole in this shariah law in Nigeria given that it does not exist in isolation. I think they should just restrict themselves to sharing of property and divorce cases.

How do you expect them to jail someone without proof that they are guilty? Isn't that tantamount to jungle justice?
Politics › Re: Save Kano Nine Trending On Twitter by dustydee: 11:42am On Jul 01, 2015
NoMoreTrolling:
This is very unacceptable.

I know laws can vary from state to state, but laws involving this magnitude of consequence, i.e, death, should be consistent across states.

Please lawyers need to take this one up.

I thought the Nigerian constitution, which should reign supreme guarantees "Right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion", "Right to freedom of expression and the press", Right to freedom from discrimination"...

What about this section:

39. (1) Every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference.

With all these, the government of that state can't now say that, one's opinion, be it deem blasphemous or not, can now be punished with even the most grave of punishments; a death sentence.

It just doesn't add up.
They were tried according to shariah law, if they choose to appeal, they will be tried in a conventional court and that section you just quoted will most likely set them free.

They will be freed by a higher court (court of appeal or the supreme court). The judgement is not final.

I think you should include CV review as well. A lot of graduates do not know how to prepare a CV even if you guide them through. Some use the wrong words to convey their competencies which hardly gets them an interview. I wish you the best.

Hey peeps
Lolz ok so yes i went on a lunch date thing today with a guy i was introduce to by a mutual friend, we've seen each other before but there was no spark so i didnt really entertain it.

Anyway as you all know i'm single and have been for a while now... We decided to meet a place close to me so i can get back to work on time .

Ok we ordered food , had light convo just general stuff

Now the issue
Ok oh this guy orders wine i had a little bit but im not really a wine drinker anyway , and then the guy kept saying
"Why dont you drink some "?
"Have some more wine are you shy"
I told him no like its bloody lunch time who gets wasted at lunch
And he said to me he thought i was a classy chic, but he thought WRONG!

After he said that i felt insulted just killed the mood , but didnt say anything just told him i have to go and would call him later.

Please lol how is that unclassy? this is why i dont bother going on yeye date so annoying .. Anyway thats the end of him (history) he can go find a wine drinker somewhere else or do u think i am over reacting? Dont get guys
He probably was put off by your English.
Saw this in a restaurant: "A meal without wine is called BREAKFAST". grin I personally don't agree with that statement but you never can tell where the guy is coming from.
