Cut the long story short. I received the mail for the aptitude test for 26th at Maitama Abuja. But I am already working for Zenith Bank. Is It advisable to go for the test? Also I already have a PhD full tuition scholarship in Melbourne Australia starting January 2018. Am confused, cos zenith bank wouldn't allow me to write DPR test on that day, also is it advisable to quit any job (zenith , DPR) to go for PHD. Please let me know. Thanks
How do people ask this type of question. Ask your self or your family members. No one knows your life goals here and Ure asking if you should go and school or stay on job.

OK guys for those yet to do their accessment this post is for you wink
-->Make sure to get to d venue @least 30mins before the accessment starts cos we signed attendance register and ofcos punctuality is important in banking wink
-->Also try as much as you can to dress appropriately i.e corporately, cos our picture was taken (dunno why)
-->we discussed a topic about revitalizing the energy sector, here, even if you don't know anything about the topic, try and grab points while discussing with ur group members.
-->Competency based test was the toughest for me cos I wasn't prepped for the Q's @ all. Points to note, know your strength and weaknesses as a job seeker, rehearse how to introduce ursef to an interviewer and VERY IMPORTANTLY KNOW ALL ABOUT FIRST BANK, especially their products, services and achievements in the banking sector.
-->Learn how to work with power point
-->Rehearse your essay skills, the topic is the same with what's discussed in the group
-->logical and numerical reasoning are tacklable, at least if you made it this far, you can handle them.
In conclusion, be bold, be yourself, don't lie during your competence based test, and be time conscious during the tests(numerical and logical)
Wish everyone the very best smiley wink
Sholaaaaaooooo!!!! Abba father will give you Sucess. TThank you. Concise and cogent.
PoliticsRe: What Happened On AIT Kakaaki, The African Voice, Yesterday...am Still Shocked by dyduds(m): 9:55pm On Jul 05, 2017
Youngadvocate:
This is not meant to incite, but to spur our minds to articulate the thought that lie therein.

I was part of the viewing audience of the Kakaaki, The African Voice anchored by both Saliamatu Ibrahim and Adora Onyechere, on African Independent Television, AIT, yesterday, July 4.

Since the programme had a talking point drafted to address the quagmire the country is gradually sliding into, I showed interest.

I had relaxed to follow the discussion led by the two anchors and three invited discussants, two Elder-statesmen from the North and one Professor of Banking and Finance from Michael Okpara University. unfortunately the power was interrupted.

By the time the power was restored, the programme had neared conclusion.

At the time, Saliamatu threw a question to one of the Northern Elders and I quote"...some say the North is afraid of Restructuring. Why is the North afraid of Restructuring?

He answered "...north what!...how can we be afraid of restructuring when we have Boko Haram?"

I have ever since sought to give this proper interpretation, but the more I try, the deeper I was thrown into limbo as to reconciling the sensitivity of the speech. And my wonder has been, was it a slip of tongue? Or an expression of reality.

Even Saliamatu sort of wore a countenance that looked bemoaned by the comment and wanted to seek further clarification before she was signaled to round-off.

My intent is to bring this to fore. I know many tuned into the programme and did hear the comment. And those who didn't could make use of AIT 'a social media platforms to verify.

Am I the only one who was struck by that statement? Or am I being over sensitive with a mindset conditioned by the current political happenings?

Let us discuss this Nigerians!!
It is really annoying to see the foolish extent to which some people are taking this statement and cropping up what is not. The man meant they have boko haram insurgence that scares them and restructuring is not a fear. He simply aid that trying to sprinkle humour in the discussion .

We sha will use our own hand to distroy this nation and those who can flee will, those who cant .... Life is short and time is ticking stop wasting yours on baseless talks.

Hello all. Good evening.
I have followed all comments but none of them have an in depth explanation of the case study. Can anybody that has written the test pls shed some light on the case study and the Power Point Presentation content. I have been reading business case studies and will need to know if I am on track. I think it's one of the most important stages.

Thank you.

HCP & FBN should really be commended, the AC is well structured, organised and coordinated.

For those that haven't done theirs, the bedrock IS CONFIDENCE & TIME MANAGEMENT. I noticed something about the carrier inventory, some of the questions were repeated with some rephrasing and restructuring, so answer them carefully so that your answers won't be contradictory. Success.
Thanks , what do you mean by carrier inventory. Are there charts, tables etc in the numerical aspects

I found a 10$ crash course on cracking consulting cases on UDEMY. The contents would be helpful.

I sighted sample cases like profit maximization, market share and market size estimate. Anyone interested in teaming up with me to purchase this course should PM me .

We would share costs . I'll purchase and we share login details.

Mehn we've got thinkers here o.

However, the question does not provide all the information.

Market share could mean %of industry revenue or %of customer. Knowing which one we are dealing with will take us to the next stage.

Then we should observe the question compared the what market share should be to service and technology being equal to " foreign competitors" this gives an hint that Foreign competitors are the major threats to FGB.
It is tempting to also think FGB might not be strategically located but the case also invalidates that with "with a wide distribution network of branches in different business & industrial areas such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Al Ain."

FGB needsneeds to study her foreign competitors. A simple but comprehensive SWOT analysis will do. Then take advantage of their weakness. FGB can employ better marketing strategies from the analysis as well . An example is a "comparative advertisement" which simply indicates how they can deliver better in areas where the competitors have been found weak according to the earlier study.

one must note that market share management is not a one time activity and therefore needs to be consistent and improved upon.

FGB can also evaluate her brand's valuability with a customer or research and improve on it if found lagging.

Okay guys great reasoning so far. I wish there was an answer from where I got the question.

Here is another case to crack!

The client First Gulf Bank (FGB, ADX: FGB) is a large retail bank headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Middle East. The bank provides financial services across the UAE, with a wide distribution network of branches in different business & industrial areas such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Al Ain. Within the UAE, it is also often known by its Arabic name Bank Al Khaleej Al Awal.

Even though banking and financial services industry has the fastest growing rate in the Middle East region, the client First Gulf Bank is losing market share. Its technology and service levels are just as good as any of its foreign competitors. The CEO of FGB wants to know why this is happening and what could be done to reverse the trend of his bank’s declining market share. You have been hired as a consultant to advise him. What would you do? What recommendations would you give to the CEO of FGB?

Gaxx01:
In addition to the brilliant contributions to my colleagues above, I'll also suggest that since the customer ratio to the bank's customer care team is unbalanced, there is the need for the bank to outsource itz customer care service to a customer service agency. This will greatly reduce the burden of customer service satisfaction on the bank allowing them to develop new strategies in satisfying other needs of the customers.
Jesusdaughter has some point, but while I don't agree that outsourcing will not solve the problem, I believe its not the best solution, it might deprive the bank from some insights that can only be drawn from close customer information observation. Also outsourcing might not be both cost effective and sustainable.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2016 Firstbank Graduate Trainee Programme by dyduds(m): 12:19pm On Jun 24, 2017
Just for practice. Can we solve this?

Suppose you are working for the internal Strategic Group of HSBC Holdings plc (LSE: HSBA, NYSE: HBC), a global banking and financial services company headquartered in Canary Wharf, London, United Kingdom. The bank has around 7,500 offices in 87 countries and territories across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America and around 100 million customers. As of June 2010, it had total assets of $2.418 trillion.

Recently, HSBC Bank is facing a increasing number of problems with the quality of its customer service. Its customers are complaining about long waits on the phone, being transferred to multiple branches, separate accounts requiring multiple calls, etc. The customer service function is currently performed at each individual branch. The questions to you: How can HSBC Bank’s customer service be improved? What strategic plan would you recommend?

VERY VERY silly response I swear! I don't know why some Nigerians reason like this, they act like zombies who act like their whole life depends on a particular job and can take just anything, pathetic set of douch bags! So you must enter zombie mood and not ask the type of job duties the type of job you might be picking over another? Like seriously? That's not being desperate but been despicable and deserve to be despised.

The other day it was their crude mentality of saying asking to know about salary is not important yet, so I don't deserve to know the salary of a job I wanna go for? I don't deserve to know if it pays less than my present job or less than other job offers I have on the line? You gotta be kidding me!

Today its this guy saying trash because someone is asking to know the type of duties the proposed job would entail, its your type of people that can even go and wash the toilet of an interviewer just so they know you want a job. Act too servile and no employer would feel you have self worth enough to employ you.
This is too much na.

First of all, congrats to all who got the invite to the AC, don't rejoice yet cos this is d toughest stage of the selection process (Don't mean to scare you). The best out of d best would be selected So you need to bring your A-game, you may not have a second chance.

Listen carefully and follow the info below. It may just help you.

There are 5 Stages.

1. Ability/Scenario test.
2. Group Task
3. Computer Test
4. Presentation
5. Interview.

After accreditation, U will have an ability test where u'll have to think thru the scenario and choose answers from the options provided.

Group Task.
You will be divided into groups and then u'll be given a scenario to discuss with ur group. Don't argue or shout any1 down, nor interrupt, make sure U give points and make reasonable sense, don't repeat ur suggestions or findings. Smile while responding and remember you are not competing against d members of your group rather against everyone there. So don't try to be the starlight in your group. Just make your group shine.

For Computer Task.
You would be given btw 15-20 mins to read the case and prepare your power point slides. You shouldn't have more than 6-10slides, if you don't know how to prepare PP slides... Start learning now. Don't write stories, just give bullet points then explain thats why its called a powerpoint presentation.

For Presentation. Here you would be presenting the PP you created yourself. Remember to intoduce urself and what u are presenting. Be confident and bold, smile and focused, dont stutter or sound unsure, be sure of whatever point u make, even when they counter U and say u r wrong, insist and try to give a better explanation for that point. Also thank d panel @ d end of ur presentation. Presentation is 5mins so go straight to d point and don't give unnecessary explanations. Time management is key.

Interview.
I call it the "How" interview, cos you would be answering the question "How?" a lot. Question on strenght. weakness, leadership skills, use of initiative, creativity and innovation, process improvement, team spirit and many more. Dont forget the question is How... So you would have to explain how you have exhibited this traits. If u fit lie, lie ooo, nobody go ask U if na true or na lie, but it must be full proof, cos a follow up question may arise. what is ur passion, why firstbank, why do u think we shld hire U, then know stuffs about FBN generally and read different interview questions.

And most of all commit all to God and ask 4 favour.

Please note. Workforce handled the last two AC and HCP is handling this one, some things may change but the idea is still d same and knowing FBN, the process would definitely be same but may add a little twist. Just prepare for the worse and expect the best.

Be prepared mentally, physically and spiritually.

Wish u all success and the best. Cheers.

This is from someone who was at the last AC in 2013 and made it to training sch and FBN.

Regards.
Ay4sho

I may still be around to answer some questions or pop in once in a while. This is my way of giving back, cos I benefited from info given by a good Samaritan here on NL also.

Believe me FBN training school is the best in d country, you don't want to miss out. Story for another day.
@Ay4sho

Kindly enlighten me on the following .

What are the responsibilities/duties of a management trainee sequel to training school.

What are the various departments a management trainee might find his/herself in Firstbank after training and what common characteristics if any are in the roles in this different department as far as trainees are concerned .

Thank you for your anticipated response bro.
