Education › Re: Why Nigerian Certificates Lose Value — UK School by Dynast(m): 9:51am On Feb 07, 2017 |
Tokziby: Let the truth be said, its not about the certificate, its about the mode and quality of teaching. If u have not been there, u definitely cannot understand their point of view. Our Lecturers and teachers have failed us because they only sit in a class and use the same teaching materials for several years without updating their syllabus. They have failed to realize that world keeps evolving everyday and things become obsolete if u dont move with it. They still use textbooks (especially science and technology) that are published 20-30 years ago without upgrading. i am pretty sure some lecturers still go about teaching FOTRAN and COBOL or history of computers when they should be teaching Java, SQL, d-base, A+, Networking etc. I became so disheartened when i saw graduate engineers enrolling for vocational courses related their their course, when all u needed in life ought to have been taught in the University. The only professional courses (practicable courses) available in Nigeria are just 3, accounting, law and medicine every other course aside these in the Uni are in a "one chance bus" cos what they teach is abstract (theories) that are not practicable when u graduate. In case u are reading this and u are in the Uni, whatever ur course is that is not related to the above 3, kindly start learning a trade now or vocational course in order not to add to the over-saturated labour market. Good observation, even the law you quoted here is invalid until you go to Law school. Accounting as well has shallow practical scenarios in the uni until corporate experience |

Politics › Re: Some #istandwithbuhari Supporters Were Promised #1000 To Show Up - TVC by Dynast(m): 5:41pm On Feb 06, 2017 |
NgeneUkwenu: Buhari wasn't president when factories in Ikeja began browning off and selling their facilities to churches.
He wan't here when 80% of SME died away and the rest went on life support.
Buhari wasn't president when landlords were being watched charging rent in US dollars and stores were selling in hard currency.
Buhari wasn't president when wheat farming collapsed and Cote d'Ivore overtook us in Cocoa production.
Buhari didn't destroy Iwopin paper mill or ALSCON in Ikot-Abasi, a single factory that at a point brought in 30% equivalent of what we got from oil.
Buhari didn't take us from net exporter of oil palm products to lazy importers of the same.
Buhari didn't make us importers of petrol and diesel nor is he responsible for killing of the textile industry.
He didn't destroy our forest resources or ran down power stations like Egbin until only three out of twelve turbines work.
People shout policy but there is no policy that can transform a 'post-war' economic environment with the snap of the finger and government should just tell the people that this thing is what it is.
Government also has to water down expectations on oil prices ever rising above 55 dollars because it is just not possible in the age of Shale and renewables.
This nation is cornered and it has no choice than to reform it's lifestyles and go back to work.
It has to reform it's justice system such that it can jail it's thieves and reward those who do things right. We are refusing to allow hardship nudge us in the right direction but prefer to explain our woes as a personal failure of Buhari to draft policy from sheer air.
They were trampling people to death on job queues before he came on board.
Where are your farms to save you from food importation or your refineries to save you from seeking dollars to import fuel?
Where are your schools to educate your children without sending them to foreign universities when you can afford it?
He isn't two years in control yet and I believe he deserves a little more understanding given the gradients of the point where he took over.
Buhari met all these things that way, plus a devastating war that devoured the nation from a region and we have the choice of working with him to restore and rebuild the country or allow ourselves to get us into false sentiments, take advantage of us to return us to the years of the locust. deranged tales from the moon. What did he meet on ground and what state are we now. |
Politics › Re: North Ready For Nigeria’s Breakup –prof. Ango Abdullahi by Dynast(m): 7:43pm On Feb 05, 2017 |
owobokiri: To their credit, the north has never acted like they are afraid of Nigerias break up. That is the fact. They have always been like; "we rule or we go away.., take it or leave it".. In July 1966, they called for Araba", which when roughly translated, means "break up". And they meant it.., It was a colony of some overly "sophisticated" buffoons in Lagos that struggled to convince them to stay! Gowons speach is there to prove that. Thereafter, up untill this day, the north has been running Nigeria the same way you will run your yam barn; Eating what ever they like, killing whatever they don't like and basically toying with our lives at will. . They consider us, in Sarduanas words "their fathers estate"..., some see the rest of us as some kind of "civil war loot". . . You wont blame them! They contribute less to the national purse but they are the ones who will insist arrogantly that the leadership of the country be handed over to them or the country will be distablised and like startled dogs, we will all turn tail and follow suit.. The result is the epic mess of a country we have today. . The north is not the problem. The cant come down from the Sahara to run things here. The problem is with the so called southerners who seem to see "the promise land" only from a northern prism and will do every thing to dance to the tunes and caprices of a wayward north simply because the brutality that characterizes northern engagement with the Niger Delta provides them with the needed cover to loot the riches of their southern "neighbors".. u have depth of knowledge my man |
