tiptoe1: Read back and you'll see someone who got a 3bedroom apartment for £700-£750 in Manchester, there are some inner city part where you won't get it at that price. You'll be having nothing less than £1500.
Just because there are apartments rented for 5M naira per annum in Island doesn't mean you won't get an apartment rented for less than 2M nairaalso It's a simple logic, rural and urban areas.
But because your friend in UK told you he couldn't get it at that price, you believe it's impossible for every other person. Your matter taya me Bros I taya for some people too. In Enugu here, there are places you rent a flat as high as ₦1m/yr and there are places you can get for 400k/yr which is still nice. You live you life according to your target. Everybody can never be the same. If what you what is high life you go for it while the other concentrates on other things which is their target. Am sure some people in UK have money to buy car but did not buy while some bought and later they will be complaining of tax that comes with having a car. Did the English government force you to own a car? You want to live big so you pay for it. |

Thortp: N 300k? How will you save that as a family with kids in Nigeria. The reason why most people can't save in UK is when they start to compete with their unreasonable fellow blacks. Is it by force to show off? You are in a foreign country, so all your mind should be how to save as much as possible to invest in Nigeria for extra income and not living an expensive life. Wo, I'm tired of these people Pls I would need your email for private discussion and guide. Thank you |

Those put up unimaginable fictions to discourage others can only succeed where the person is not determined. Even if people save £800 monthly whether as a student or couples, it is still far better than Nigeria. Does students earn in Nigeria including those running phD program? How many families can boast of saving ₦300,000 per month after expenses? |

This is interesting
This is worth it by far
I don't know why Nigerians in UK has launched a campaign to discourage ppl from coming.
Most people in Nigeria earning over 500k monthly can't save 28m in 20 years self
Imagine if the couple can save 1500 to 2000 monthly? A close friend told me to ignore all that their noise that it is far better more especially when the couples are not students |

Second option is to leave your child with your parent while you both come here before making provisions for your child Thank you for your advice. We starting the process and I believe God will see us through. There is no way on planet earth that life is easy. The problem with Nigeria is that you will work but you won't be paid While over there, you will be paid according to what you have worked. Also we will not be coming on student visa. emperorlaqrin: My advice
1. if you are coming to the Uk as a student am begging you please and please try and make sure you have paid atleast 80% of your school fees at least this will give you enough time to save enough While working. Many people who come through this route often believe once they make part payment they will come to the Uk, work and pay the rest of the fee yes I agree it’s possible but not for everyone most especially those who are not used to doing hard labor.
Secondly as a student you only get 20 hours per week which is not enough to pay your house rent if you are living alone and Remember tax will be deducted although your tax will be refunded to you at the end of the year by Cheque
2. If you are coming to the Uk please try and avoid coming with your family
Now this is where a lot of people make there first mistakes when coming here because most people would love to migrate either as a skilled worker or student with there husband, wife and children at the same time.
The truth is that one person adjustment in an unknown country is more easier than a family. It is more easier for a person to adjust in a foreign land before delving into bringing the family however if a family only includes the husband and wife you can make the move but when there is children my brother let one partner stay back
Tbc Are you saying one partner should stay back with children permanently? Or advising that one person should stay for like 6 months before the rest of the family joins? Am asking for myself. |

emperorlaqrin: This is going to be an honest review for those who are coming or intend coming to the Uk.
I have watched with keen interest how most People on this platform as resorted to abuse/insult on the few people who are trying to enlighten us about the challenges that are faced in the Uk.
While this Enlightenment was not meant to dissuade anyone from coming to the Uk but to prepare you of the UPS & Down faced by most immigrants.
Unfortunately many Nigerians are not prepared to be well informed about something especially when it comes to traveling while I don’t blame many if not for the situation in Nigeria.
Coming to the Uk right now is not for everyone and that is the honest truth what I mean by this is that there are some set of people whom I will not advise to come here when it comes to work.
The truth of the matter is that if you are coming here you have to do away with pride and be ready to hustle, I mean serious hustle with hard work Infact with this serious hustle if you are not careful you might not see peanut to save.
There are two major things that takes away your money here in the UK
Number 1: Tax
The Uk economy cannot be compared with that of Nigeria and over here everything is tax compared to Nigeria where you can do away with that.
This country is built on tax and the social amenities everyone is enjoying from good road, electricity are as a result of the revenue from tax
Every employer deducts tax from your wages and there is no way you can avoid it.
Number 2: Accommodation
Accommodation as become a major challenge which as made a lot of people homeless due to lack of funds to secure accommodation or unavailability of accommodation within your budget.
Brb So who are those you advice should come if they so wish. Some of us are interested maybe for us or our dependants. Your detailed analysis will help though nothing stops a determined person |

Abubanty: US pathway takes like a year but majorly you need nclex or so but for UK pathway see below. Also prices have change, you may have to get current price.
Check her on twitter she explains major countries pathway https://twitter.com/proudnursemj?t=S70_QGQvChVuUE8RJZgDTQ&s=09
*STEP BY STEP PROCESS OF BECOMING A UKRN*
▪️Obtain your international passport
▪️ Write and pass IELTS Academic/OET before starting the process as it is presumed to be the most challenging of all (But you can still do it together with your verification or write while your verification is ongoing).
▫️IELTS Academic (about 85k)- Minimum Of Listening-7.0, Writing- 6.5, Reading- 7.0, Speaking- 7.0 and Overall - 7.0 . ▫️ Occupation English Test (OET, it is about 586 Australian Dollar) - Minimum of Reading - B, Writing - C+, Listening - B, Speaking- B.
You can combine the English results, see how here: https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/english-language-requirements/accepted-tests/
▪️Open an account to register with NMC UK (the first stage of verification) . Register as a registered Nurse Adult/Mental Health/Midwife (as the case may be).
To start registration on nmc uk portal, note that your last Name is your surname (e.g Fadeyi) and your first name must be your 2 other names (e.g Bako Tolani). Start the process here:
https://online.nmc-uk.org/overseas/assessment/start?route=1
You will be required to upload your certificate and/or notification and also your international passport. For any disparity in your names due to marriage or any other thing, have a Certificate or affidavit to back your name change.
The account is where you will monitor your nmc process from start to end of your UK nursing career. You can log in to your nmc uk account here: https://online.nmc-uk.org/Account/Login
▪️Pay £140 (you can pay directly yourself with a domiciliary card or any card other than regular Nigeria Debit cards).
After the NMC UK £140 payment you can begin your Nigeria Verification through this link:
https://portal.nmcn.gov.ng/verification_requests/start
Then you will pay N23,874.38 with your Nigeria ATM card and follow further instructions.
A link will be sent to your mail after making the payment so that you can begin your nmcn verification process. You will be asked details of your professional qualifications and will also upload the front and back of your current practising license (please make it 1 single pdf page)
Before starting your NMCN verification ensure your NMCN profile is updated or register on this link below to se it up before proceeding to verification to avoid unusual delay in your verification;
https://licence.nmcn.gov.ng/Account
▪️Wait to be verified and get an authorization to test email from Pearson (the organization that handles the CBT exam) to book CBT. Book the CBT with £83 and ensure you choose Full Exam (Part A: Numeracy and Part B: Clinical) and write the exam.
You can buy a voucher for this on https://www.mindhub.co.uk/
You will get a voucher code within 3 hours which you can input when you get to the payment stage of your CBT booking on Pearsonvue site. You can schedule your exam wherever and wherever you want within the validity of your voucher (one year).
After passing your CBT
▪️complete your NMC UK registration which includes an upload of name of medical regulator, police clearance, and IELTS(academics)/OET result (without this, you can't progress beyond this stage).
▪️Pay the final registration fee of £153 to NMC UK.
▪️ You can start looking for a job at any stage but preferably, start searching for jobs after you must have passed CBT and IELTS/OET. You can either get an agent or apply directly on nhs.jobs, trac.jobs and other verified UK job portals.
You can also search for trusts online and send direct emails to them to show your interest or fill their international recruitment form or application.
▪️After getting an offer you are comfortable with (the "comfortable with" is very important), sign the offer letter and send your documents to the trust. Note that when you apply directly, you might have to fund your visa and ticket yourself while you get a refund on getting to the UK (this isn't always the case though), agents on the other hand pay for these upfront. Just ensure you read your offer letter well to know what the trust is offering. The choice is all yours to make at the end of the day. You might have to try both actually because getting offers isn't as easy as before.
▪️Wait for a Certificate of Sponsorship by the trust. It shows you have a sponsor that will support your stay in the UK. This COS also contains an employment start date. Ensure you don't have more than one trust processing this for you as it is quite expensive which makes it unfair for the trusts and it can cause problems for you with the home office.
▪️ Discuss with the trust and book your visa and subsequently, your ticket. You need a valid tuberculosis test (about #59,000 with 6 months validity) and police clearance (ranging from #2,000-#10,000 depending on location, cheapest price can be gotten at Alagbon police station in Lagos, it has 3 months validity) at this point.
▪️The final stage is writing your OSCE (This can only be done in the UK). You will get your pin (license) to practice on passing this. Most trusts train nurses for this exam, ensure you check your offer letter well and clarify this.
P.S- You will get to the UK as a pre-registration nurse and will be placed on salary band 3-4 (depending on trust). On passing your OSCE, you'll automatically become a band 5 nurse. Thank you very much. Your explanation is well detail. I think UK is a bit easier and might be faster. |

With her qualifications, she can get a job paying 100k+$ annually. She should try writing the Nclex exam( They don’t write it In Nigeria). There are numerous agencies that will sponsor her visa if she passes nclex and she and her family will get green card to America. Invite her to Nairaland. My wife is a graduate nurse( BNSc, RM,RN) and just concluded cardothoracic nursing speciality. I spent quite alot for her to get some of these certificates though she is briilant.
She has not been gainfully employed so I suggest she travel outside for something meaningful. We have four kids, the last was 2 years on November and first was 8 years on December. She is much attached to her children.
she said she will prefer traveling out with everybody at once and that she will prefer USA. I told her it is better she move and stabilize before family comes over. Am thinking UK might be easier and achievable than US at this point. From UK, one can easily r locate to another country of choice with time and money.
Pls I need advice on how exactly to go about this as we have lots of people here with experience.
Pls move to front page for proper guidance. Thanks |

Most girls are really foolish honestly. Do you think getting pregnant for him is prerequisite for marrying you? No. Always ask your guy questions in a clear language. Honey would you marry me? If he said yes then you ask again when. You don't own time to begin to be wasting it. Ask the guy to send his people to your place for wine carrying and if he said no then go on with abortion. He was just giving you excuses of not having money. How much will it cost him to establish marriage with your family? Maybe #50000 and he said he doesn't have money. Don't bring out any child you know you cannot raise properly especially given the harsh economic condition of the country. You entered into a relationship probably from your secondary school instead of thinking of a course to study at university. That shows you a wayward girl that lacks ambition and focus. Dating shouldn't exceed two years while the rest is marriage. |

Romance › Re: Guys, At What Age Will Your Tie The Knot? by Eaganguolly(m): 5:00am On Dec 20, 2019 |
Well, in African society, marriage is seen on a different perspective. Love is not key in getting married in African. In the olden days for instance people doesn't court or know each other yet the live together as husband and wife for decades. The reason is because there were norms and traditions which were like set standards for married couples. Every Male or husband knows what he should do likewise every female or wife which is not seen today. Divorce wasn't an option then unless in a very difficult situation especially barreness. In today's society, things have greatly changed mostly due to our alignment to western life styles. Women and men no longer know where their duty post is. This is one of the things affecting marriages in today's society. You can only stay in today's marriage if you can overlook that set standard behaviour espected of a married man or woman. In African and Nigeria in particular, the government doesn't take care of its citizens and insurance is not working unlike in advanced countries. Have you see people who doesn't have family in their old age? In our society, marriage is a form of investment that takes time to yield. It is your kids that takes care of you when you get much older. People don't stay in marriage because the love is always there, they stay to nurture their investment and see if it would yield a good result. Marriage has stages. The early part of it seems the most difficult. It is this first 10 years that is most difficult. Those who said they won't marry should make up their minds on that so they don't change it in later years maybe when they are like 50 years. Those who want to marry should equally make up their minds and work towards it. In African society, one could miss opportunity simple because he or she is not married. Some are enshrined even in the constitution. My advice to those who want to marry is to marry when you can maintain your family and most importantly have a small sized family of say 2 or 3 kids irrespective of their sex. I married at 34 and have 3 lovely children and we have decided not to give birth again. |

Fisher007: Hmm where do I start from?
Marriage is a scam.
Legacy is the only thing a man needs. As far as you have a child or children (surrogacy, adoption or baby mama). All na pickin, the rest is history.
Most people marry for flimsy, weird, crazy, survival, unfathomable and dumbfounded reason. I will speak for the men. Ladies you can speak your own too below in the comments section
You will marry a woman who's love for you is provisional, transactional and conditional. ( For better for worse statement na scam). If you doubt me try your luck. 95 percent of people in marriages are sad and cheat on each other. The last 5percent are in a open relationship known to both party. Them just they push through for survival purpose
For men:
Na white knighting and captain save a slut wey dey do most of us. In order words beauty and toto dey too dey deceive us.
You will marry a woman you think you know. But you have no idea actually. She will form submissive, homely, loving until you done put am for house. Gbam the equation will change. Most ladies marry you based on their time don dey reach or based on they need you to provide.
You will now start understanding the famous quotes "my wife has changed. She is not the lady I married".
You see whoever you marry will always change. Change is constant. So don't complain. She will get fat, she will have hormonial imbalance, she will nag you. You will loose your peace, calm and quiet life. Just even forget sex - that one go turn weapon and manipulation tool for her. She will get old before you. Mind game go kill Una for house. It will be a power struggle since most women don't want to play their traditional role in the house. You will just be slaving and suffering for an ungrateful being brought out from your ribs.
To go home after work will be a problem, beer parlour and hangout will be your new base. She go police your life die. Na pure cage you go put yourself. But what do I know. Instead of you to stay single and enjoy your life as man. Nobody is rushing you. You will let stupid societal norms and Disney/ Naija/ Indian/ American movie fool you. Love doesn't exist man. It is only compatibility that exist.
You will hear excuse such as you will die alone. Lol. Did you come to earth with somebody before? Psssh
Qoute me at your peril. I done talk my own. Transformer and river is not far from you. Find the nearest one. You get it right |

xpresseeve: Do not be in a hurry to make 100k WEEKLY from just a paltry 600k. That would translate to 400k monthly. Even magic cannot procure that kind of profit.
Obviously, you have never done business before. You must be able to distinguish between building a business and striking a deal or getting a supply contract (in the Nigerian sense).'
My simple advice is that you identify a traditional business model like trading and then invest just 100k and use it to learn the basics of running a business. You can from there expand and/or diversify. But by all means start something.
Depending on where you live within Lagos, food related products are failproof if your sourcing, product qualit and pricing is right. Bread distriburion comes to mind here. Eggs distribution in urban areas is also a great earner over time. Threads abound here on Nairaland on how to commence these new businesses.
While you may not view these as your kind of business please note that they do indeed provide a wonderful platform for you to acquire the required experience that will come in handy throughout your sojourn in the business tapestry.
Good luck to you. You indeed spoke well. The way people overate profit most times becomes worrisome. Business knowledge is the basic. He should start small and build. |
