BUHARI was not part of the coup, he was invited in to head the government because he was seen as someone with much respect and follwership within the military, then Buhari was GOC, general officer commanding 3rd armored division Jos. Overthrowing is the easier part of a coup d’etat. Consolidating power and obtaining legitimacy from the very people that coup suspended their right to a constitutional government is the big part. This was the same reason why Major Nzeogwu IN 1966 was successful in overthrowing Alhaji Tafawa Balewa’s governemnt but Unsuccessful in consolidating power, and within 24 hours, Major General Ironsi, Who was the Army Chief of State was made the Head of State when the acting President and Head of the Senate Rt. Hon. When your rent expire, tell your landlord you are going to keep staying in his house free, until he provides a transformer for you.

if someone rent is expiring by dec 31st , wat can d landlord do to evict d tenant if he is unable to pay d rent n also bearing in mind dat there was no signed agreement for him to move out within a month if he is unable to pay rent

If there is no signed agreement, the landlord will give a 6 month notice to quit if it is a Yearly tenant, Three months notice to quit for a half yearly tenant and a month notice to quit for monthly tenant.
But if by 31st December your rent elapse, and you continue staying without paying, then you become a tenant at will. And that means officially you cease being the lawful tenant of the landlord. And he can proceed to court and serve you 7 days notice of intent to recover property. After the seven days, he will then serve you papers in court and the court will take it up from there.
But you can go to him and reason things out before that 31st December

@OP, ask a lawyer friend of yours to draft him a letter and tell him that he is in violation of the Lagos tenancy act which gives you the right to enjoy your tenancy without disturbance. That he is directed to stop all harassment forthwith and should use lawful means to recover his premises if he decides that he doesn't want you as a tenant.

When January reaches, you become a tenant at will and have 14 days to move out (once he serves you notice). Then move out. Chikena.
