The Headies 2015 may have come and gone but it has left with us exciting topics to dance around with everywhere. Don't blame us though, we are Nigerians and we always love the New Year frenzy and the shows that comes with it. Now, let's get serious here, as we all know what has happened: 1. Don Jazzy signed children to his label and Olamide signed brothers to his label. At the individual speeches of these two elephants who have decided to fight dirty due to a Hyundai car given to the winner of the Headies Next Rated Award, they both labelled their label mates with the tag respectively. Although I saw Dija jumping like one child from Corona and Adekunle Gold storming out like a brother to Olamide. 2. Phyno was nominated for any award at all Popular, Igbo language speaking artiste, Phyno, was not nominated for any award at all despite his sterling performances last year in the entertainment industry. Nobody noticed his omission until he tweeted his opinion about the fight. Sorry brother, hustle harder his year. 3. Olamide and Don Jazzy use different phone brands While Olamide expressly flaunted his phones everywhere, we all know that he uses a Tecno Phantom 5, Don Jazzy has been silent on the phone he uses which we all know is a Blackberry Passport. 4. Dija could have replaced Tiwa Savage as the Long throat ambassador One of Dija's picture at the event which expressly showed her neck has gotten everyone talking as many have advised Pepsi Nigeria to consider her for the next long throat advert. Sincerely, she looks like one of those girls that peep in exam halls! 5. Nigerian Pastors have been given a prayer point come tomorrow We all know how anything public becomes a prayer point in our churches, belive you me, come tomorrow, Nigerian pastors have something to pray about as you'll hear something like "God bring me my own Olamide", "God, cause people to fight on my behalf" et al. Thanks for reading as comments will be appreciated on what you've learnt from this two fighting. Cheers - ![]() Source: https://ladispeaks./2016/01/02/5-things-we-learnt-from-olamide-and-don-jazzys-beef/ |

Earlier this week, I received a message on the popular messaging application, WhatsApp. The chat that followed suit ensured that I broke up with my beautiful and adorable girlfriend (name withheld). This was whom I shared everything with, whom I loved dearly, whom I felt would be the final girl I would date after having experienced what doesn’t exist in most relationships (We both loved ourselves in equal measures). What led to the break up was SIMPLE; she is ready to settle down and I am not. I would not mention her name as she’s highly popular on the internet. I had earlier thought that our love, care, emotions and all would cover up for that but alas, it blew up in my face. Why this story is significant is because, as much as we love ourselves, we care for ourselves, we both value the relationship and other factors, we took a decision that, we both will continually be proud of; we broke up in good terms (mutual agreement some may call it). We as humans must face and decide relationship issues based on prevalent realities and not some fantasies that may be banging in our veins! Many a times, we tend to find ourselves entangled in the web of love and in the dilemma between leaving him or her and moving on. The truth is, as much as more people may advise that you follow your emotions, it surely may lead to heartbreak later on and all. Decisions in Love should be based on realities and not fantasies of hope. That was how I lost love but I have moved on nonetheless. It is all good news because I have found another woman :-) https://ladispeaks./2015/12/10/how-i-lost-love/ |
OP-ED: January 27th, Yahaya Bello and the Nigerian Youth by Israel Oladipupo Ogunseye January 27th is the set date of the swearing in of the new Governor of Kogi state after a protracted battle of legal luminaries over the death of Prince Abubakar Audu (May his soul rest in eternal bliss). The date for the event has been set, and now all preparations for the big day have begun for the entrance of the youngest Governor in Nigeria at present. (40 years of age). For a constitution that says, “A person shall be eligible for the office of Governor if he or she is a citizen of Nigeria by birth at least 35 years of age, is a member of a political party and is sponsored by that political party”. This is by far one of the biggest feats for forward thinking Nigerians having witnessed the swearing in of Governor Abdulaziz Yari, at the age of 42 in Zamfara state, and Governor Ramallan Yero of Kaduna state, sworn in at the age of 43 in 2012. After Cross River state have produced the youngest set of people to attain political offices, Clement Ebri (39), Donald Duke (38), Senator Liyel Imoke, (46), this development comes on the back of the calling for the active participation of the younger people in our populace as seen before and after the independence era. With the current trend of the older generation reserving the roles of Special Advisers on New Media, Personal Assistants etc for the (youths) largest group in the Nigerian population, it is now pertinent that the Nigerian youth needs to rise up to the occasion when it comes to active participation in the Nigerian political landscape. As young people, we need to challenge the status quo as Yahaya Bello and others before him have done - rising up to the occasion of becoming a Governor just five years above the qualified age. As Alh. Yahaya Bello, popularly known as Fair Plus by his admirers is set to be sworn in as the next Governor of Kogi state, next year, I hope that other young Nigerians will stop being willing tools for the older generation to perpetrate online activism but become active and participate significantly in the Nigerian political ecosystem. We need to stop being tools in the hands of stakeholders and become stakeholders ourselves. To: Mrs Amina J. Mohammed I write to you ma on a very sad note, owing to the killing of my friend and a brother in struggle-The Lion. Just yesterday, I received a report of a Lion which was murdered in cold blood in Plateau state, Jo's and I find it disturbing that this happened. Although, I know the Lion escaped from the Zoo but it is not enough reason to have shot the animal on the spot of sighting! It is very wrong and not an acceptable method of operation in any country trying to experience a CHANGE in the pattern of Government. I am sure you know quite well that the Lion is listed as a vulnerable specie on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and its population decreasing by the day which is also listed as among the 23,000 species threatened with extinction according to the latest report. As a practicing conservation scientist, it is therefore disheartening that our ecosystem just got disturbed by anthropogenic factors which could have been mitigated by the simple application of a tranquilizer. It is therefore on this note that I request with immediate alacrity that the Federal Ministry of Environment carry out an assessment of our biodiversity in reality, we don't even have facts on these organisms practically. All we have are researches that are unattended to and lying fallow on the book shelf of the various HODs in Nigeria. Consequent upon this, I have created on petition for the protection of our animals http:///1lY1rhK Please sign this petition! We must protect our animals, the need us even as we need them. God bless our Ecosystem God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria Yours in Country Israel Oladipupo Ogunseye (LadiSpeaks) https://ladispeaks./2015/12/03/open-letter-to-the-minister-of-environment-aminajmohammed/ Please SHARE

Okay, the most announced and most talked about day this year have come and gone and now, we all saw different e-commerce websites throwing up different discounts and reductions. We saw Konga do Yakata sales, we say Jumia do theirs, dealdey do theirs, virtually all stores sha gave out something even though we know most of them were not 50% REDUCED in reality. So, let's talk about which one was the cheapest and the best for you on this day... Note: a. I bought a Camon C5 from Jumia that day from the flash sale they did (all of us like awoof na) b. No derailing of thread abeeeeeeg Keep the comments coming in NairaLanders.... |

I have been jejely sitting in my office today, monitoring the the most purchased goods and services on three websites (names withheld because of marketing purposes) today that is this "BLACK FRIDAY". I kept tabs while on this website and three social media platforms (names withheld because of marketing purposes) and I calmly observed what people really wanted to get cheaply during this day of cheap goods. Please NOTE that I carried out this activity for a personal reason which includes but not limited to investment purposes ONLY! ![]() I noticed that there was a craze for Tecno Camon C8 today? The question I am pondering on is that, Is there anything they haven't told us about the phone that placed it on demand across two of the three websites I monitored? Thank you Nairalanders as I await your honest contributions.

It is indeed a very hilarious scenery when some people bad mouth Tecno! These guys are here for real and to stay! |
ArodeTsolaye: basilo101:Go and study history very well you too or even as th case maybe an stop being in the dark! When Nigeria was about to gain independence, our supposed members of the parliament forced their way into government. When the military was about to to hand over to civilian rule, they retired and became the ruling class...Spain/Catalonia, Sudan/South Sudan, The Yugoslavia Nation etc... Like I encouraged, if you know you will not be a stakeholder when Biafra comes into light, don't let them USE you to achieve their selfish gains! On ground stakeholder o not some NL stakeholder! |
About 5000 years ago, citizens of the great Nation, Israel, disturbed God for a king not appreciating the efforts of Samuel. In his infinite mercies, He granted their wish and gave them ‘Saul’ but at the end of the process was deceit, corruption, covetousness and ruin. A very similar scenery is playing out in our land, Nigeria. A couple of months back, Nigerians were supposedly clamoring for a phantasmagorical change, as they claimed to be tired of the PDP /GEJ led administration. God also did what he knows how to do best and gave them a King according to their request. Much was expected after the swearing in, from the military dictator who became a democratic President hoping that he will repent from his ways, but the reverse seems to be the case as Nigeria as a whole is going from a state of attention to a state of quagmire with the turn of events. DECEIT; During the electioneering period, Mr Muhammadu Buhari and his campaign team promised the expectant Nigerians “heaven on earth”, but its very pitiful that most of these promises have been denied secretly and publicity. Reports emanating from the streets of Nigeria indicates that the youths are highly disgruntled with the leadership of the country. We all wait to see what goes down eventually, Saul deceived the people of the land and tried to deceive God. A very striking comparison! CORRUPTION; During the campaigns, we were made to understand that Muhammadu Buhari was poor enough to borrow his Nomination form, only to declare half of his assets and we were all stunned. Other facts have also left the citizenry applied at this government’s hypocritical nature is the N6.5billion to maintain jets, N20billion REMITA funds, N2.1billion to attend seminars and a host of others. We have also heard about how our Nation is broke and the president is spending heavily. The so-called fight against corruption is nothing to write home about, because on a daily basis, the President is wining and dinning with those who have rob the country of her commonwealth. Saul was also very good at trying to be magnanimously selfish in his dealings and it tells a lot about this present Government. FUEL SCARCITY; The president, who doubles as the Hon Minister for Petroleum Resources has not been able to set up a structure befitting to rid off corruption from the oil sector for the past few months he’s assumed office. The price of fuel has increased to N400 per litre in some states according to reports. BOKO HARAM; In just 6 months, it is highly visible that Nigeria has failed in curbing one of its greatest nemesis: Terrorism. We are gradually loosing our international recognition. The war is not being fought as it ought to, just like it was witnessed with Saul. Saul ended his leadership on a very pitiable note and I fear this government is also moving along that plane. I wait for the David that will kill tens of thousands, kill the Goliaths of our terrorism battle and our fight against the uncircumcised Philistines. Could President Muhammadu Buhari be our modern day Saul whose story was penciled down in the Holy Bible? Time will tell. Owolabi Marvelous is a Lagos based writer. I draw inspiration from one of the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s evergreen songs: Beast of No Nation, “This uprising will bring out the beast in us”. Radio Biafra is the latest topic in town when talking about ethnic divides in our dear country and we all know about this highly controversial radio station. Before I proceed, I’ll like to give a little background info on what the radio station stands for: The radio station and its leader for the liberation of the Biafran Nation… That was the extract of my unpublished piece on Radio Biafra: I’m a Fan, Are You? Now, its leader has been captured/detained/abducted etc.,(we all can use our preferred adjective) but we all know the young man is nowhere to be found free as claimed by the Department of State Security. The recent protests have also been massive as some opine even the great “Ojukwu” couldn’t amass the same number of support he’s presently getting. I really have no stake in the staying or leaving of the Igbos so I write as an objective analyst. In reality, the question I ask young Igbos is this: Who will be the leaders of Biafra if you leave?. The question is very critical because it is no rocket science that the present Igbo Governors will superintend over the Biafra Nation. We all know the reason for disintegration as sold by the elites to the young generation is simply marginalization! Yes, I know and we all agree but have you asked yourself this question; Has there been any cause fought for by these so-called elites without no underlying political inference? Let’s take our minds back to the most recent ones, Bring Back Our Girls, Occupy Nigeria, Save Lasu, Save Nigeria Group and a host of others. These are the same set of people who when they feel and or are marginalized will use the youths to cry out for their cause. Do not be deceived, as much as having Biafra is a very good dream for the Igbo youths, have you pondered on whether the leaders of the Biafran Nation will be different from the Igbo leaders now who have at countless number of times failed the average Igbo youth. We need to come to terms with the fact that if your voice does not count in your ward, local government, and state at present, Biafra would not benefit you when it materializes. I therefore would like to encourage all Igbo youths that “politicians are out to use you for protests that you won’t be a stakeholder when it yields fruits! Now tell me, how many youths who protested for the BBOG movement which was largely politically motivated are stakeholders in today’s government. I also would like to advice my Biafran youths, please do not agitate for a separation IF you won’t be an on ground stakeholder when it is birth and not some Facebook, Instagram or Twitter commentator while you are no where close to the powers that be in Biafra. I sincerely do not and will never be a fan of Tecno products although I use a Canon C8 (In all honesty, its not been a bad choice). I have observed the great fuzz about the Tecno Phantom 5 and the way its been talked about (the recent one being yesterday at the bar where we were seeing the Europa league matches) makes me scared. I really would not mind giving the phone a try since I'm looking at getting a fairly priced and still good phone. Nairalanders, please be sincere with your opinion... Decisions like this can be hard cos there are so many reviews online about it as being good but I don't want to fall for it again as I did, my Blackberry experience is still fresh! Meanwhile: Karmanaut, Please I need not your advise, It is obvious you are paid to give it on Nairaland. |
Karmanaut:What's a shill? |
Oladipupo22:I'm sure you use the Tecno Phantom 5! Been wanting to ask sef, tell me your honest opinion about the phone, I'm using a Canon C8 at the moment and need an additional phone... |
teelaweee:Thank you for this OP! God bless you....Still don't know why Tecno is impressing me lately...still in the middle sha |
Mikkie31:I get now but has it been resolved at a Carl care center? Been there a couple of times and the customer service ain't that bad so I'm a bit thinking they won't delay you |
Karmanaut:Please do not associate me with any other person! I'm not a bot! Check my signature and my profile well! You are just monitoring me across NL! I still made FP yesterday and you may want to know that... I am a tecno fan does not equate to working for tecno! |
parrotibaba:Not enough to disturb, I clear my ram chopping apps once I leave them... |
