madridguy: I will not press further cos this is a secular forum but considering the fact that the bride in question just finished with her secondary school. What stopped Sanusi from allowing the girl to atleast finish up her OND atleast. My question is this, can Sanusi give out his daughter of 18 years to a man of his age ? I use to think you are very smart, am really disappointed. 1. The bride is already studying Computer Science in a UK University. 2. She will not move in with the groom immediately. Now if you had just condemned the marriage based on your opinion which you and everyone else are entitled to, I wouldn't have said anything. But for your attempt to paint Hausa people's Islam as giving you bad name is what infuriates me. So I ask again since you claim to be a true Muslim, and we are giving you bad name what aspect of Islam does the marriage violates? And Yes he could marry off his daughter to his age mate as well, so long there's love between them. |

Anyways, Happy Married Life. I taught you people's grouse is with the age of the bride, well this one is 18 years old so what's the backwardness there? or is it the polygamy you are against? last time I checked Christianity too, our culture as well as the constitution did not prohibit it! The Noble Quran has indeed said the truth, you will never like/support us until we change our ways and do what you do. I rest my case. |

But anything that defaces Christianity gets express aproval to front page. double standard in nairaland !!! Smh That's not double standard it's simply because we Muslims respect Christianity and Jesus (A.S.) Insulting him directly invalidates your Islamic belief. You know that can never be the case with you people. An Imam commits crime and the insults go straight to prophet Muhammad (pbuh), or to the Almighty God Himself. We all know there are criminals who can hide under the cover of whatever religion to commit heinous crimes, but we know it's no fault of the religion as is evident in other adherents of the same religion who condemn the crime and whom are always in the majority. If you could desist from offensive comments that are uncalled for, am sure the Mods will relax the rule. I rest my case. |

Politics › Re: How Obasanjo Scuttled Tinubu’s Ambition Of Producing Buhari’s Finance Minister by EazyMoh(m): 8:20pm On Sep 19, 2015 |
midolian: It is no longer news that President Muhammadu Buhari is set to constitute his cabinet.
What Nigerians are keen on, however, is knowing those who would make the final list Buhari will send to the National Assembly for confirmation.
Already, a number of individuals – professionals, technocrats and politicians – have been screened by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The process recently concluded has confirmed the president’s intent to meet the end of September deadline he set for himself regarding the much-anticipated ministerial list.
But indications have emerged on how former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, have been slugging it out in recent weeks to have their candidates make the final list as well as get certain ministerial positions.
Obasanjo, it was leant, was given two ministerial slots of Ogun and Osun, while Tinubu and South-West leaders would fill the four other slots remaining in the region.
According to New Telegraph, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance and a nominee of Tinubu into the cabinet, Wale Edun, “has become the first casualty of the ego war.”
Tinubu had recommended Edun to Buhari as Minister of Finance and has been screened by the Department of State Services (DSS).
He may now be replaced by Chairman, Citibank Nigeria Limited and one-time Lagos State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Yemi Cardoso, as a Lagos representative in the cabinet.
DAILY POST gathered that drama over Edun started when a group of influential Lagos indigenes, including traditional rulers and some of his colleagues that served in the Tinubu administration, kicked against his choice as a Lagos State ministerial nominee.
According to them, Edun is not a Lagosian only that he has lived all his adult life in the state.
But Tinubu insisted on Edun’s candidature and requested that Edun be named as Ogun State nominee, a move Obasanjo and Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun resisted because they already have a candidate.
Obasanjo then sent word to Tinubu to stop pushing Edun as Ogun State nominee, because he was someone whose work and career were rooted in Lagos State.
The Ota farmer also cited the example of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo whom he considered to be more of a Lagosian than an Ogun indigene, but was nominated by Tinubu as Vice President.
Obasanjo and Amosun have agreed to give the state’s slot in the cabinet to a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Auditor, Chief Bode Mustapha.
Other Obasanjo’s nominees are former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun); former Governor of Ekiti State and Deputy National Chairman (South) of the APC, Segun Oni (Ekiti); former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili and former Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Obasanjo in his first visit to Buhari in Abuja submitted the names and got favourable assurances.
In his second visit, Obasanjo reminded the president of his candidates and the promise Buhari made to him.
“The president assured Baba that not all will be ministers,” a source had told DAILY POST after that meeting.
“But that those who do not make the ministerial list would get other appointments. Ambassadorial slots part of the altnernative.”
It would be recalled that less than 48 hours after the two retired generals met, Tinubu and former Interim National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, visited Buhari to inform him that South-West APC leaders would not accept a situation where Obasanjo would determine those who become ministers.
New Telegraph further quoted a source that Tinubu and Akande did not oppose the choice of Oyinlola as a minister representing Osun State in respect of an earlier agreement.
“It was a moral issue. Obasanjo is not a member of the APC and cannot appropriate the positions of the zone to himself. The South-West leaders have been meeting for two months on the ministerial nominee, only for Obasanjo to sit in Ota and draw up a ministerial list. That is why the leaders kicked against the idea.
“That will be killing the party in the South-West. He can’t be an alternate APC. Obasanjo should be respected as a leader, but he can’t hijack what belongs to the region. “On Obasanjo’s ministerial list, former Governor Oyinlola featured just as his name featured from the list submitted from the state.
“There was no resistance to Oyinlola’s nominee because that was part of the agreement before his defection from the PDP to the APC. The party has fulfilled one leg of the agreement by ceding the senatorial slot to Senator Isiaka Adeleke who also defected from PDP to the APC.”
Meanwhile, Buhari would submit the ministerial list to the National Assembly next week either before or during his trip to New York on Tuesday for the United Nations conference.
The newspaper also reported that Buhari may have settled for Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and former Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as the nominee from the state.
He and former Governor of old Abia State, Dr. Ogbannaya Onu, lost out in the race for Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Onu is now expected to be filled in as the candidate for Ebonyi ministerial slot.
Respected economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, is the likely nominee of Delta State. He is being backed by professionals in APC led by Osinbajo.
Former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, may be forwarded as Kano candidate despite being a serving senator.
A former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Abdurahman Dambazzau, is also expected to make the list. It is not know if Buhari will make him Minister of Defence.
For Edo State, former Executive Chairman, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mrs. Ifueko Omogui-Okauru or a former Special Adviser to Obasanjo on Programme and Policy Monitoring, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, may get the state’s slot.
In Kwara, a former Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, may fill the state’s slot, except Buhari requests another name. Reason: Abdullahi is a close ally of Senate President Bukola Saraki, whom the president seems uncomfortable with.
Abdullahi was the Deputy Director, Directorate of Policy and Strategy of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation. Should he fail to make the list, enter National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Ekiti slot still looks dire for former Governors Niyi Adebayo, Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi after Buhari personally expressed interest in human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN).
In fact, Osinbajo and Tinubu, are pushing for his candidacy as the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice while ambassadorial slot for Ekiti is reserved for Fayemi.
In Adamawa, Boss Gida Mustapha, a lawyer and member of the Ahmed Joda-led transition committee set up by the president, may become minister. Mustapha lost the APC governorship ticket to incumbent Governor, Senator Bindow Jibrilla.
In Kebbi, Alhaji Abubakar Malami (SAN), is highly favoured.
He is also a member of the transition committee and has been a long time associate of Buhari since his days in Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) where he was National Legal Adviser.

Family › Re: This Girl Is About To Be Kicked Out! by EazyMoh(m): 4:49pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
ismart: I remember saying having a child for me isn't a guarantee that a woman will remain in my house.
People attacked me without understanding why I made such statement.
Some 4 months ago, my cousin had his first child. My aunt, being the mother in law to be made sure she (daughter in law to be) got the best care. She took care of the daughter in law to be, bathed her grandchild every morning, afternoon and night.
After a month plus, my aunt followed her son to his house and continued with the care for another 1 month plus.
However due to an accident she had in 2012, she had to undergo proper surgery to straighten her leg because after the accident, no surgery was done but just traditional treament which didn't do much as the leg, a few CM above the ankle was bent and you can see the protruding bone.
Being hardworking woman, she did a lot of works with the leg.
I travelled to Lagos and when I returned, I was informed that she was in the hospital. I had to move to her sisters house same day so I can check on her.
On gettting there I saw her on the hospital bed. Few weeks later she was discharged from hospital.
This daughter in law to be was rarely around. When she comes, she would barely spend up to an hour before leaving. She has NEVER washed my aunt's clothes. Through out the 2 months that my aunt was discharged from hospital, the girl NEVER bought anything for my aunt as a mother in law to her. She NEVER stayed to take care of her. Absolutely NOTHING can be accounted for as a gain she contributes to the family system.
My aunt's only daughter died early 2000s and this girl could have easily played that role.
Last time she visited I was told she was around I didn't bother to come out to see her cos I was just to displeased.
While we were away, robber buggled into my aunt's house. This girl came, she couldn't arrange her mother in law's clothes nor sweep the room she occupied when she delivered. The best she could do was brought out her iphone, one my cousin bought, and started taking pictures of the damages and calling my cousin on phone to even magnify and exaggerate what happened.
In that two months I have been the one who would lift my aunt, get her crunches, wash her clothes, follow her to the hospital etc.
Today my aunt finally returned to her home after doctor told her that she can start putting the leg on ground while she walks. She had to call her sister's daughter to come and cook for her. Though I had wanted to do the cooking.
While I was with her in her room. She told me that the daughter in law was feeling pompous. I said to her that I have noticed but wondered why she kept quiet all along. She said she was just taking her time. So I told her what I expected of her daughter in law to be and that this problem had better be nipped in the bud before it's too late. I asked her what if she was quite older than her current age such that she can't move around. We talked more at length and she told me her mind. She also told me that she called the girl and informed her that she has arrived home. The girl didn't even bother to ask about cooking or gave any hint if she would come.
The son is currently out of the country. He bought this girl a car, took her South Africa and Dubai on vacation.
My aunt told me that while I was away at one time, they were making plans for introduction. This girl, though not yet strong cos of child delivery, made a decision to start business. My aunt suggested that wait for you to heal and you know you had this child via CS. She flaired up and I learned earlier she said what right does my aunt have to dictate for her. There was a serious quarel between her and my cousin.
My aunt has resolved that once her son comes back, they will discuss and possibly put a stop to her madness.
I have seen this game played over and over again. A girl brings out her real colours after a child or after marriage. That's why I said to myself, a child isn't a guarantee that a woman will remain in my house but her manners.
This girl in question is completely nothing to write home about... But u r writing to seun about her nah. |
