Wow. Someone's comment today reminded me of all the long days here and the memories made from it. Life is indeed, in stages. Throwback to those days where this was the only available platform for we the younger ones to get motivated and inspired by the works of our big chiefs. Those days, we thought getting medicine admission was the end of our problems, but now, we know say problem no dey finish. grin grin grin grin

DrHesjay grin
I remembered during your days, Dr lomalxx, Dr Lagusta, DrGboy, Ambfitsaint et al on this thread.

You should be probably doing residency by now
By the way, which problem are you talking about in the emboldened words?

Greetings medic and fellow medic aspirant. I received a message on wednesday to accept an admission offer into a college of nursing and health sciences obohia in Abia state to study nursing. Lo and behold i called the number displayed on the text to know how my details was gotten, a male voice answered and told me that the admission offer is genuine that i should log into the school portal to print my admission letter. At first i felt happy but within 2 minutes of the feelings i felt unhappy again because it was not medicine and surgery.
*My question remains should i decline this admission offer into college of nursing obohia in Abia state or to continue to prepare my next year jamb of which i am gunning for medicine and surgery?

Even if i am interested to accept the offer. My love for medicine and surgery can never be overemphasized and it hold no bounds and limit as well. Is it possible to use the nursing certificate and qualifications of the school to apply direct entry into medicine and surgery ?

Well, most people here have given you some advice. So the ball is in your court whether or not to heed to their advice. But my advice is that you should not reject this course on a platter of gold. A bird at hand worths millions in the bush.

Wish you the best.

Hi bosses, what advise would you give someone with 330 in jamb and 6.8/10 Olevel, UI or OAU?
#Confused

Either of the two is good.
UI use only UTME score and Post UTME score in calculating the aggregate. A candidate that has his/her O'level result littered with C's has equal chances with a candidate that has A's and B's in his/her O'level result when applying for UI. UTME takes 50% and Post UTME takes 50%. UI does not use catchment areas.

On the other hand, OAU use UTME, Post UTME and O'level result in calculating the aggregate. UTME takes 50%, Post UTME takes 40% and O'level takes 10%. OAU use catchment areas (you will be at advantage if you are from South West).

You have a good chance in either UI or OAU considering your Jamb score. You should know which one will favour you most in terms of easy admission to study Medicine, academic calendar, among other factors you might want to consider.

If you could score 330 in UTME, you should be able to replicate such performance in UI's Post UTME and OAU's Post UTME.

But they can't admit fresh students since 2018 till now? Cause they graduated some sets of medical students doesn't mean they have reached full accreditation status.

They just got full accreditation which is why they are able to graduate their first set of medical students after many years.

Since they have gotten full accreditation, they can admit fresh students this year.

Appreciated boss. Do you think i can combine semester courses and preparing for jamb? Won`t i be wornout with school stress and the rest

Why not?
It is possible to combine school workloads and JAMB preparation together. I did it and it worked for me.
It only boils down to how serious you are with it. If you know you have a goal you are pursuing, nothing should deter you from it.

Imo state university is not accredited for medicine but is on your list of accredited schools. Don't you think that website is fake? Or outdated? For the record, I am from imo state.

IMSU is fully accredited for Medicine.
They graduated some set of medical students (first set I presume) last month after many years

So i decided to go print the original result since the score was nice....to my greatest surprise my expected 296 was reduced by 54 marks...i saw 242 i refused to believe it was my result...after i've been celebrated by alot of people for the initial 296...i'm currently down my depression...i thought about changing my course to Med lab or Pharmacy, but i'm afraid i don't have the passion for any of those...pls someone should help me, can 242 get medicine in unical? and what score should i aim at in the post utme pls...MY ADVICE TO EVERYONE IS: look before you leap..

Is it a must you go to Unical?
242 won't fetch you Unical MBBS.... Don't be deceived.

Will you choose to listen to the advice I have for you?

There are some Universities you can use your score to enter Medicine....If only you don't care about a particular school.....

Also Medicine....OAU aspirant (thinking of changing though)

A wise decision.
Though you have a good Jamb score, I can only advise to risk OAU if your O'level result is littered with A's

Can a Nigerian obtained medical certificate be used to work abroad. Or which medical course can be easily practiced abroad after study in Nigeria

Yes you can. By doing residency abroad.
I can only talk on those that studied Medicine or Dentistry and willing to work abroad.

For your second question, any medical course is easy to practice abroad. It only boil down to how much information you know about the process.
