That the school is new is even an added 'incentive" to defer.

That extra two years on Geophysics would settle things at your Medical school to extent.
It's a win-win if you defer though.

But e get as Medicine dey use shark person, e no dey your eyes to defer am.

Thank you
May God help me make the right decision.

Defer your Medicine admission and complete your Geophysics since you're almost at the end of the program. Then when you're done, you pick up your Medicine back

I am thinking on the expenses on school fees and other dues that I will spend in 300l till graduation and other factors.

Rather than doing that, why can't I just spend the money on Medicine.

Albeit, I am at the same time scared of not wasting those money I spent in 100l and 200l

I am really in a tight corner on what to do.

Good day medical students and doctors.

I just gained admission to study Medicine and Surgery in a Federal University in South West. Though they just started the Medicine programme in the school which implies they haven't gained full accreditation from MDCN but all efforts are ongoing to get this done. I am currently a 300 level student of Geophysics in one of the State Universities. I will be resuming 300l by September

I had been contemplating whether to switch over to MBBS or obtain the Geophysics degree first.

What is your take on this?

Never despise the days of little beginning.

Above was my early post on this thread as an aspirant 7 years ago. I officially bagged MBBS Ibadan today by God's grace.
Thanks for the guidance provided. I found a family here
I had no As in WAEC. I started with 251,245 and then 283 in Jamb by 2013. It was difficult getting admission but I kept on working hard and praying. I got admitted into EKSU, OAU, UI for medicine and surgery.
A story of determination, hard work, good support network and of course grace of God.

You can do it guys . Never allow anyone talk you down on your dreams. If you fail at different attempts, strategize again and up your game. You are unstoppable

Congratulations doctor

Uniport said we should supplement and we did obediently despite our friends saying not to but guess what. Those people I did far better than have been giving biochemistry, microbiology, physiology and anatomy. Why me the obedient one just got aeb and agric extension. Indeed nothing is fair in this country but one thing is sure am coming back stronger by the grace of God

Lol. You ought to be grateful. At least, you were given a course. UNIPORT is very considerate when it comes to giving admission. UI doesn't give candidates another course if they don't meet cut off mark of their preferred course. You are on your own once you don't beat the cut off in UI.

Accept the course with good heart. You can take another UTME if you like.

Good day fam. I have always dreamt of this day and as God will have it, it came to reality. After 6 attempts and 9 years in course of which I even had a degree in Biochemistry I am glad to say I eventually gained admission to study medicine yesterday.
My advice for aspirants is that be persistent, read hard but smart then most importantly look for a school that your chances will be much higher.( I wasted time with UI even to the extent that I had 300+ three times in a row yet I missed out narrowly each time due to the fierce competition).
To the bosses and senior colleagues in the house too pls I'll need your advice and input as regards being successful in medical school especially as I already in my mid twenties and the pressure on me is much.
(P.S: I was admitted to Bayero University Kano)

Congratulations man. Welcome to the fold.

I mean the aggregate after online screening.
I heard O'level and utme are combined and calculated. How true is this?

Also, How helpful can Eksu pre degree Program be as far as admission is concerned

They don't release cut off marks
Yeah, since 2019 EKSU has been using Screening method to admit students (O level result and UTME score)

Getting admission through Pre-degree program is 50:50 chance depending on whether the individual pass the exam or not.

Lol... I have spare time so I'll reply this too

Although you're entitled to give advice to whomever you want to, however it becomes misplaced and a nuisance when nobody asked for it.

Also, any medical student in recent times who isn't aware of the travails of med school with all the enlightenment around, has him or herself to blame. It's been resounded over and over that med school is hard and draining. I'm sure everyone of us knows it by now

Finally, regrets?.... LMAO. Is there any choice that doesn't come with a possibility of regrets? Is there any course where students are all fulfilled after studying it?
You make it seem like regrets as a doctor are the only kind in the world.
People regret studying other courses more often than doctors do for studying medicine. So that statement makes no sense.
Also, can you guarantee I won't regret not studying medicine?

I'm gonna add that I don't get why you're so bothered about other people's depression, regrets, low self-esteem.... Makes me think you're either depressed, having regrets or your self-esteem is low.

Here's my advice to you, as appreciation for the numerous advices you've been dropping; Stop. Stop spending your time obsessing about medical students and doctors, they aren't worth shit. They don't have their life set. Their dreams won't be fulfilled just because they're doctors. You can do better at whatever you're doing. And if what you're doing isn't fulfilling enough, Stop!. Stop whatever you're doing and pick a UTME form, read like hell and get into medicine.
You gain absolutely nothing trolling the students here, they don't care, I don't, I find it amusing and could have ignored it easily. I'm here wondering why you care so much about our problems, you can't be that benevolent with your time.
It's sad seeing you make up assumptions just to discourage future aspirants. Seriously, get your act together, you're better than this.

Well said Chief... I don't know why some people will just come here and be offering unsolicited advice or help...
The best thing is to ignore such people. It is not their fault since Nairaland is a faceless forum. Anyone can just come here and write trash.

It's not becoming a dubious school; it's in reality a dubious school. They give admission to the highest bidders, and then use stringent exams and one sitting to weed them out. They even give admission up to the exam period, and cannot defend you if any of the departments victimizes you because of coming late to practicals due to late admission.

That's what happened to me. I was offered dentistry via direct entry admission there. Before the admission, they had done a lot of practicals in anatomy. It came as a surprise to us (the DE students) when the 2nd MBBS/BDS professional exam came up, and they pasted our names that we didn't make 75% practical attendance in anatomy practical, and that we should go back to 2nd semester of 2nd year with those that would fail the 2nd MBBS/BDS exam. I just cried, and none of them listened to my cry.

Due to that, I rushed and bought another JAMB DE form, and chose medicine and surgery at Ebonyi State University. It was a late registration as it was only one bank that was selling the form then in Abakaliki. As the gracious God did it for me, I was offered a direct entry admission into medicine and surgery at EBSU, and I quickly left that useless, big for nothing UNN.

This is serious. If only this year aspirants know what lie ahead of them. Everybody wants to go to all these big names Universities.

You have a fair chance. The quota for MBBS in EKSU is 50 though they admit more than that. They graduated their first set of medical doctors last year. The school fee is a bit expensive.
