Greetings pals, please i sincerely need a befitting submission in regards to my admission. Unizik transfered me to human physiology department though my initial chosen course is medicine and surgery. Although it was a late admission, i saw it last week. My plan is to switch to medicine and surgery at 200L or to get medicine and surgery via direct entry as a second degree. Please bosses in the forum, i need an appropriate councel in regards to this...i don`t like the course but i am willing to do it for the sake of transfering to mbbs and getting it via direct entry..

Congratulations Kosisochukwu on your admission.
As regards crossing over to Medicine department after your 100l, make sure you ask your seniors about the criteria for it and if it is possible to cross or not. If it is possible, you have to give it all your best to meet all criteria but if it is not possible, it is either you consider to write another UTME while still continuing your Physiology in Unizik or you complete the course, graduate with good grades and consider Medicine as a second degree.

The choices are left to you to decide and make.
My advice is that you should not be among the "medicine-or-nothing" gang and don't reject the admission on a silver platter. A bird at hands worths millions in the bush.

Hi Medics,

It's been a very long walk for me. I recall when I first found this thread, it was when I was looking for admission into medschool. I once wrote then that I'd be back here one day to share my testimony. Today is that day. As of yesterday, I qualified as a medical doctor.

The past seven years have really been interesting. I was supposed to finish medschool in 5 years as I was a DE student. But Nigeria happened to me, I got two more years even though I did not repeat any class. But here I am today celebrating success.

I thank you all for all you do here. I thank the creator of this thread (Chief Lagusta). I thank the posters. I thank those that ensured this page didn't die. This thread helped me, it helped many before me, and it will help many after me. I've just concluded my medschool diary, if interested, you may want to read through it.

For all those still in the training, and for those still trying to get in, I wish you all success. It's possible, just continue trying.

Best wishes, friends. Have a great evening.

Dr. Tonye001.

Congratulations Dr Tonye.
Your story is a great inspiration to us all.

Greetings to all the amazing personalities of this great forum. Age goes by what it`s called. I am 22 now. Does my age an impediment or a limiting factor still be considered because of not being in medical school by now; going by my classmates and those that i am ahead of in secondary school are now currently in 300l ,200l, 100l. Sporadically as per say some are through with ND, IT while some just gained admission to study one course or the other but not actually their dream course, although some are lucky because they got their heart desired course. My stand here is..is age an impeding factor in medical school using my self as a reference point?

When it comes to medical school, age doesn't matter. Forget about your secondary school mates being far ahead of you. Everyone has their own time zone. It is just a matter of time. Before you know it, you are done with medical school. In my class, there is a man who's in his 40's or 50's and he is married. Look at it, if someone at that age can be studying Medicine, then why should you be concerned when you are just 22? There are also those with first degree in my class and in the level lower than mine. Just focus on your goals and make sure they are achieved. Forget about age when it comes to medical school.

Kai, It's amazing how time flies. Visiting this thread again and seeing a lot of admission discourse got me feeling nostalgic. Spurred me to visit old posts I made when I was still searching.

Already in my Penultimate year and God is still faithful.

To everyone trying to get in, keep fighting! Don't ever give up!!!

May the odds be in your favour.

God will see you through to the finishing line and those of us are just starting or half-way.

I've been good my brother. I trust you are doing well. It's awesome seeing you contribute vivaciously on here. Great job man.

Yes I am doing well. I just want to share my quota here. This group has been of immense benefit to me right from the days I was an aspirant. So I want to give back through my contributions.
Thanks Chief.

**In Canada, it is NDEB(National Dental Examining Board of Canada).

NDSE is for international Dental specialists looking to get their qualifications recognized so they can practice in Canada.

It was an oversight.
Thanks for pointing it out, Chief
By the time, longest time sir
Hope you have been good?

Most times it's not about people's opinion being one's decision. It's all about gathering information alien to one. From informations gathered, the seeker will sit down digest them and then come to a conclusion

He is not asking about what the courses entail, but which one to go for.
But then, I think he knows what is best for him.

Hi medics in the house, pls how lucrative is Dentistry and Dental Surgery in term of employment opportunities both Nigeria and Abroad. And is it as Lucrative as MBBS both home and abroad?

Dentistry and Medicine are like two sides of a coin. The two are similar in most aspects though not exactly the same.

In Nigeria, Dental students are accorded the same respect as medical students. They are both doctors. They are both under the same body (MDCN). They have the same salary scale and earn almost the same amount. Dentistry is as lucrative as Medicine both home and abroad.

Which should I go for between
Pharmacy, nursing and dentistry

I had a high jamb score

Pls I don't want to make mistake house
@everyone

When it comes to the issue of making a career choice, I am always of the opinion that the individual making the choice should know what he/she wants. People's opinions have little or no impact in becoming who you want to be. The question you should ask yourself is that: Where does my passion lies? What do I love to do?

Since you are not from the catchment areas, you might want to weigh your chances very well. Though I feel you still have a chance in UDUSOK.

I had 290 in 2023 jamb and I choose Udusok medicine and surgery, pls do I stand a chance of gaining admission?

You stand a chance there. UDUSOK consider only Jamb score

By the way, what State are you from?

Guy! Argument is not my thing but the fact should be said, every single post is as important in the decision making of aspirants here, writing this to avoid had I known situations. A friend of mine was telling me some days ago of how his 322 got wasted at UI in the just concluded admission exercise, worse was that he didn't register for this year's UTME.

You really think somebody who would be able to secure 92 shocked shocked in UI's post UTME would score 270 in Jamb? Let's be sincere with ourselves haba!

When I wrote UTME in 2020, my 305 got wasted by UI, had to rush and change to FUTA, it was there I met people with 330's who were as well ridiculed by UI. Of course 300+ do gain admission there but trust me, they sacrificed a lot for it, it's a very brutal race when it comes to MB;BS in UI.

I really have a long epistle here, but my point to aspirants is: be real with yourself, stop living in an utopian dream of "I will be an exception to that", choose your course wisely. Change if you need to: either your course or your university. Time is money! cry

Did you later gained admission into FUTA MBBS?
