Hello there,

Please I have a website that I wish to convert to an app. A news website tho. I get quality traffic from the site, but I want to convert it into an app, to further reach more users.

Please can it be done without necessarily requiring coding and much funds?

Checkout the post I made on my profile. Let's talk.

Webmasters / Convert Any Website Into A Mobile App by EbenG(m): 5:32pm On Mar 08, 2022
I will convert any website for you into a professionally looking Android app for a token of 5k naira for a limited time

What I will need from you:
- The name you want to give the mobile app
- The website url or link to the website
- The launcher icon you want for your Mobile app. If you don't know what it is, it is just the logo or picture you see on every app in your phone. Apps like Facebook, WhatsApp etc all have a launcher icon on your phone. It should be of size 512pixel by 512pixel. If you don't have one, don't worry I will design a nice one for you
- Sit back, take some coffee and watch me do it for you.

What you will get:
- An APK file of your website ready to be installed on any android phone

Features of the app:
- Swipe to reload functionality: You will have the functionality to reload your webpages in the app
- Handling no internet connection: Functionality to handle scenario when there is no internet connection
- Navigation drawer: If you want a navigation drawer in your app, I will implement it for you
- Any functionality you want (we will talk about this so that I can validate it if implementable)

FAQ
1. How long will it take you to get this done?
Ans : If the requirements are fully met, within two(2) working days
2. Are you going to build the mobile app from scratch or how?
Ans: No, I'll create an exact copy of your website into the mobile app. You will get thesame view as your website and any changes in your website will also reflect on the app
3. More questions?

Reach me on WhatsApp via +2349038549279

Nice one op
It's a nice concept and I like it.
Since it's in Java, you can later on migrate it to kotlin(my opinion though). I love kotlin, it's bae

Programming / Re: The African American - Nigerian Proposal by EbenG(m): 5:10pm On Jan 07, 2022
Metajinn:
Nairaland,

I am African-American, proposing an effort between underserved markets here in America and emerging markets in Africa.

There are great opportunities among us.

Fueled by racial inequality, African-Americans are motivated to:

- Start businesses
- Make investments
- Buy from Black owned businesses
- Seek financial freedom
- Pass down generational wealth

The problem is only a few get it. Most don’t have the tools, or know where to start.

What I can ascertain from books and other media sources, Nigerians need:

- Startup funding
- Employment
- Competitive edge (American ties)
- Improved Infrastructure / Logistics
- Also financial freedom

Thus a need exists for a novel platform in which the two niche groups can benefit from various degrees of partnerships and financing. A type of symbiosis utilizing resource management with means of navigating public policy and diminishing complexities of the underserved and emerging markets gaining transnational exposure.

To increase chances of success and maximize impact it needs to be open source, for the most part. Data and third-party plugins will be proprietary. Anyone can create and monetize plugins.

Ideally, as the app is created so will documentation and detailed tutorials. Anyone will be able to play with the source code and get involved.

Before announcing the project in a major way, methodologies, processes, and procedures of operation need to be tested and worked out to ease onboarding.

Although the GitHub repository will be available for anyone to contribute, it’s necessary to designate a Junior Android Developer as Core Contributor to help create a simple minimum viable product.

Typically developers work on open source projects for free. However I am very passionate about this project and willing to pay 100 USD, or about 41k NGN a month for someone to help me get started.

This is more of a side project than full-time work.

The candidate should have some familiarity with:

- Kotlin
- Android Studio
- GitHub
- Command Line

And able to commit to at least one short weekly virtual meeting (10 - 15 min).
Also respond to email and or other agreed upon methods of communication in a reasonable amount of time.

This is a great opportunity to sharpen your developer skills. Even if you’re not a Core Contributor you can still contribute as a volunteer.

The goal is to eventually form a startup where contributors to the open source project will be prioritized for full-time hire.

I welcome all suggestions and questions.

Thanks,

Metajinn

Hello all,

I thought to finally delve into mobile app development but there seems to be so many languages and frameworks. Please which of them should I start with?

Thank you kindly
Start with a little Java to let's say OOP concepts then move to Kotlin. Remove every fear of missing out(FOMO). Try and follow a roadmap

Here is my first android app. A "Population Projector". I haven't published it yet though.

In the screenshot below, I projected the population of Nigeria in 2021, using 2006 population figure (140M) and Nigeria's annual growth rate of 2.5.

I'm still searching for where I'll do mine starting from late December or early January. I'm an intermediate Android developer(Java/Kotlin). I'd love to have it done in Abuja preferably. I'd be grateful if anyone can link me up

I think you could add a general padding to the text so there's a little spacing between the edges of the screen.
The text size is also way too small too. Maybe you could increase it a little.

Pls i want to know. Did you defined all of those text(the content of each list) in strings.xml??
Programming / Re: HELP,my folders have arrows by EbenG(m): 8:46am On Aug 13, 2021
Bcrew:
Hi guys,i just saw that all my folders' icons have changed, with two blue arrows pointing to each other at the top of the folder.I am suspecting this is a virus act. Please how can i clear my folder from those arrows?

This double blue arrows overlay icon is seen if the files and folders are compressed (NTFS compression), and there is nothing to worry about.
When you enable NTFS compression for a file or folder, the blue double arrows icon overlay appears on the top right corner of the file or folder. This is to indicate to the user that the folder or file is compressed.
To remove double blue arrows icon in file or folder Properties, here's how:

Step 1: Press Win + E keys to open File Explorer. Go to Document directory.

Step 2: Right-click on that folder with double blue overlaid and then select Properties.

Step 3: Under the General tab, select Advanced in the bottom right corner

Step 4: Clear Compress contents to save disk space checkbox. Click OK.

Step 5: In the Properties window, then Apply.

Select Apply changes to this folders, subfolders and files option to confirm attribute changes

You'll see the double blue arrow disappear. You can repeat do this action for other folders or files in different directories.
