Try cloud energy Dc fans, they come with AC adapter to use with normal wall outlets or using a 12V battery or DC powered setup - power consumption is 11.8W for older series and the new series claims to be 10W.

Give it a shot

We have about 3 x Epsilion 30KVA 384V (with 32 batteries) 3phase inverters running at different locations powering our communication rooms. It's the inverter output that was separated into phases as listed below and not the input.

* Ac - Phase 1
* Servers - Phase 2, and
* Lightings - Phase 3

Please note we have changed 2 of the inverters to Axpert inverter by paralleling 3 units with Felicity lithium batteries due to issues with SMF batteries and changing 32 batteries at a go.

PS: I'm just an end user and not installer.

jonescosmo:
Good evening all, I hope everyone had a great day?

So I went on a 3 Phase Inverter quest today.

Most unfortunately most people haven't done a single unit 3 phase setup, most have done 3 units 3phase parallel setup..

And my questions went like:
What happens when you have a source phase failure?

Most people haven't tried it or withnessed it because they were always deploying to clients that have 3 phase prewired environments and have all 3 phases always avialable.

To be quiet honest, I was dissappointed at some responses I got.

Now am back here to seek professional advise.

Has anyone done a 3 phase grid tie setup?
If yes, what happens when a phase or 2 phases fails?
Has anyone tried to power all 3 phase with a the same single phase? Most 3phase inverters I saw today were labelled 230v/400v input. and yet the dealers could not tell me if I choose to ignore the 400v part, what will happen.

We live in a country where grid phase drops are incessant. Please i need honest and first hand experience responses.

Thanks all.

Yes I am using Pi. I intend to use ESPhome on HA, with an ESP32 so I am using serial to RS485 converter to connect to the ESP32 so that ESPhomes on HA can see it as a device.
As for the Axpert, mine has a Usb port, can't remember if it ever came with a cable. It looks like I can use a FT232R to also connect the same way with the ESP32
I will still need that node red file you talked about. I can send you mail if you want

Okay boss, I will check for solpiplog and see how it fits into the above.

Raspberry Pi, Epever communication cable (USB - RS485) and communication cable for your Axpert inverter.

ojesymsym:
Thanks a lot. I will really appreciate that

I am first interested in the hardware part of the connection for the communication to happen. Are there interface options to select from.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ebocoms: 1:01pm On Sep 08, 2022
You will need Node-red to send both data to Emoncms to have a single dashboard. I can forward you my Node red json file that combines my Axpert inverter and Epever CC.

Home automation guys, please I am trying to design a Solar/ Energy dashboard for my Epever and Axpert inverter. Rather than go through hours of research, if there is anyone who has done it and has an easy way to achieve this, kindly advice.

I pulled 209AH on that day but had to turned off the inverter manually that day. You can see it from my customized emoncms picture attached (Day Deepest Discharged). The data is from my BMV 702.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The battery is rated for 200Ah. How much were you able to pull out of the battery from 100% fully charged? I did not really get that from your post.

Good day,
I have been reading a lot about Felicity Lifepo4 battery capacity but I can state most of the statements are not totally true. The one i'm using is 5KWH (Model: LPBT24250 Usable Capacity 5KWH written on the box), I had consumed more 200AH from it more than twice before turning the inverter off myself. Although I set the capacity to 200AH on my BMV 702 initially because of the comments I read on this platform that their batteries capacity are not true capacity, but I have changed to 250AH after several capacity test. Reason my battery SOC is showing Zero in atatched pictures.

From my understanding, they have several models of batteries with same voltage at different prices but you need to do own research on the batteries.

I will advise the OP to check the inverter cut off time if it's set to like 50%.

PS:

I'm an end user and I have no relationship with Felicity.

Please my senior engineer's is like Felicity lithium battery is not up to the rating capacity am using two 5kwa Felicity lithium battery up to 10kwa but it not carrying 1400w load up to 5hrs after full charged.from my calculations it supposed to carry the load up to7hrs.pls is anything am missing in my calculations?
I need your advice please

Thank you bro for the information. I might have to have additional solar array with different CC because changing to 48V now, will mean changing the battery and inverter together.

ojeysky:

Yes you can that said, unless you have multiple charging source 500ah 24v may not get full daily from a single solar charging source. You should consider upgrading to 48v in future...... unless you don't deplete the battery much
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ebocoms: 10:34am On May 07, 2022
Noted. Thank you.

Edited: You mean two different Lifepo4 battery size bank can be paralleled? I can go for higher capacity then. My present bank is 24V 250ah.

ojeysky:

My 280ah was over a year old before I put it in parallel with a new 230ah battery pack. Performance has remained the same since they were bought
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ebocoms: 10:32am On May 07, 2022
Noted thank you. I'm buying the same brand.

duwdu:

If the two banks each has its own independent and quality BMS, then there should be no issues running them in parallel.

Of course, one should always ensure the two banks are in a reasonably close state of charge, just to begin with.

Good day All,

Please can one parallel new and old LiFePo4 batteries banks? I'm considering buying same model/specification Felicity LiFepo4 bank to parallel with my old unit. Do I need to do some sort of balancing before installing the new module considering the fact the old bank is more than 1 year old in operation and firing.

Everyone input is highly appreciated.

Thank you for the information.

NiyiOmoIyunade:
It must be connected to a conductor with very low resistance/impedance to ground.

Earth rod, wire mesh, earth mat, buried copper wire, building metal reinforcement (ufer ground), water main (water corporation pipe), metallic frame used to mount water tank are all possibilities either as stand alone or a mix.

Just know that if you use a public utility like water pipe, you may be executing your neighbor a few houses away or some random kid playing around if you have a fault diverted to earth. Of course it can't be traced back to you and you yourself may not even know you electrocuted anybody so no biggie I guess grin grin grin

The goal is to measure resistance 5ohms or less after your earthing is done (some say 25ohms) and be able to maintain this value over the years.

If you don't have a good earth point for faults to go to, please do not install an SPD as you would just be making things worse.

Driving a few rods some 8 to 20 feet down can be done at low cost and small footprint - you do not really need those massive pits that our people like to dig - use a coupler and drive down two or three rods coupled together in one spot, move away thrice the depth of the coupled rods and sink another set and be done with it - judicious choice of soil site for earth rod or soil treatment with enhancement material will ensure permanent results.

Above all measure else you can never tell how good or bad your earth is.

See below a customer with poor earth before and after driving rods down and we did the extra rods in his flower bed without disrupting anything - two coupled rods in the house and another two coupled rods outside.

We met the facility's own earth at 44ohms, we joined it to the estate earth point which was reading 51ohms to get a combined 22ohms - this convinced the customer the benefit of multiple points bonded together - then we drove down additional rods as I explained above and got 5.3ohms - this is in Lekki sandy soil, no treatment or enhancement as the man did not want to ruin his lovely garden so did not permit to dig a hole or even use an auger

Good day @NiyiOmoIyunade , what about situation where the earth rod is not close by or non at all. Must it be connected to earth rod?

NiyiOmoIyunade:
The best way to think of this device is as an add on at your CC or breaker terminals - current is not passing through the device in normal operations but in a case of surge or fault or sudden voltage rise the device operates to present a very low resistance and shunt the surge to earth.

What you should do is get suitable wire around 6mm2 minimum and cut to suitable lengths and wire as below.

Some people wire this at the CC PV+ and PV- but I generally prefer to wire it at the always on side of the DC breaker in case of loose contact or whatever you don't want to be fixing an expensive CC and also better if the fault condition was mostly dealt with before the CC as well

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ebocoms: 9:15am On Mar 24, 2021
Thanks very much for your reply @ojeysky.

ojeysky:

Your total solar Voltage is important,.make sure it's lower than total vdc of the SPD. Most mini PV set-up SPD are either 300v or 600v. The 300v will be sufficient for most setups but high PVs controllers will use 600 or more depending on set-up.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ebocoms: 6:27pm On Mar 23, 2021
@olopan & other gurus in house - Please how can one determine the SPD rating to use for protection. Is by Solar panel configuration/capacity or inverter capacity?

Thank you.

olopan:
Both PV and NEPA input

NB: earthing a PV frame is not lighting protection, but it does have it's advantage too.

An SPD is the one of the best way to protect your investment .... Both AC & DC

Or simply isolate both poles of input to your system, if SPD no dey at every instance it wants to rain. grin

Yet another Axpert bites the dust!

I truly have been unable to trust this entire family of hybrids to perform under demanding conditions.

I am looking right now for a basic and reliable inverter in the 5kw range to play with and test out some new ideas but keep coming up blank. I already ruled out all Axpert and Mustpower types and their many clones

Good day All,

Please which inverter model (24V) is pocket friendly apart from Hybrid inverters (Axperts models) that can charge Lifepo4 battery. I need to get a stop gap for my MPP Solar hybrid inverter that have refused to come up or show any light for some days now. The inverter is less than 3 months old and I have contacted MPPSolar support.
