Buddha3: Lmao!
A bunch of incompetent, crass and corrupt politicians are engaging a body of determined Academics drawn from all career fields, in a legal battle. More like a cautionary tale of a chicken challenging a cheetah to a race.
These politicians earmark humongous sums to themselves as salaries and undeserved emoluments on a monthly basis. They budget unimaginable sums to fix their working environments (as was the case when billions were budgeted to replace the roof of the National Assembly complex, as if they intended to roof an Olympic stadium), buy themselves the latest and most classy vehicles running into hundreds of millions of dollars, turn around to under-fund our educational sector and daft youths are here singing their praises.
I am 100% in support of ASUU. It's about time we got it right with education, at the very least. ASUU will never get 8 months salary of strike. their proscription is coming up |

JJuanMiguel: ASUU should rest. When Nigerians are ready they will respond at the polls by voting visionary leaders. Enough of these their annual vacations in guise of strike. The strike itself is a problem and you can't combat a problem with another problem. There incessant strikes has been and will only create more problems.
If they don't want to understand that their strike is not working, but only causing problems for others, then i support the evil government to continue to torture them while they lament daily about empty stomach.
Even if i abscond from my work for 2 months, my stomach will become empty talk less of 8 months, maybe they're expecting manna from heaven to come and fill their stomachs gerogel i hope you read this? pls resign and find a more suitable work for your pockets. |

GerogeI: Labour disputes are never settled in court. Simply because the court cannot bar unions from protest through strike. If the court orders the call of of one strike, it will be obeyed. However a different strike with new demands will begin. All these gimmicks have happened before under Babangida, Abacha and Obj. Ngige is only reinventing the wheel, which we know does not kill ASUU strikes. A labourer is entitled to fair wage for his labour, and has every right to negotiate for it. The FG also has the right to sack all ASUU members, only we know they cannot recruit new ones because they do not exist. Minimum Qualification for lecturing is a PhD according to NUC.
Did Buhari not know when he devalued naira from 240 to 700 per usd in exchange for loans to build railway to Niger Republic that the workers wages will become meaningless?
How can a Prof., an erudite scholar of 20 years be earning N400,000 , about 600 usd per month, but an aid to Buhari earns N800,000 as basic. A mere seat warmer in the senate goes home withmore than N30m every month, and you say ASUU is your national problem.
You that is arguing just because you want to finish school. You do not realise that your own future is at stake. When you finish you get a job paying 30k per month when 1 usd is 700. How will you function without stealing wherever you are. How will you an employer cope with workers who steal everything in site due to your poor pay, since your customers have low purchasing power as Govt. has devalued their earnings to get foriegn loans at their expense.
Revaluing workers wages in Nigeria always starts with ASUU, after them teachers will rise up next. Blame the economically daft debt ridden govt. and CBN governor. Things must balance out, its simple law of demand and supply. if you don’t like lecturership, resign Oga. If you go to strike again with people’s future you would lose your license, now that CONUA exists. |

Aswear make federal government deregister ASUU so that everybody go rest. You didn't work for how many months and you are expecting government to pay you your full salaries and benefits. No be juju be that

Kasssandra: I am not a lecturer, but if I was one, I would go to a private uni, earn a higher salary, and also get some better facilties.
At the end, it is the government universites that will suffer from continued poor funding. And most of the people who go there are poor people.
University costs money. For many years we tried to run them as cheaply as possible...and thus they became so substandard. If you want it to continue like that, fine. If you cannot send your child there tomorrow...fine. But if it is what you can afford, then sorry....your child is going to be disadvantaged vs the graduate from private university.
I honestly wish there was an easy answer to this matter. do you think i read all you’ve said? i wish they will refuse to resume so they can be sacked |
