of course there is no way Lagos benefited from being the capital of Nigeria for 76 years and still having a major federal presence.
There is no way lagos benefited from being a British crown colony for 50 years before 1914 (which means Britain wanted to settle it like Cape Town).
Lagos is in the league of African cities like Nairobi, Abidjan, Luanda, Cape Town etc. The problem however is that it is grossly underperforming compared to these cities.

Does lagos have steady power supply?
Good and extensive network of roads?
City level waste management?
Fully functional traffic lights or cameras?
Standard international airport?
Is lagos finer than even Abuja of yesterday?

Lagos is suffering from what ails Nigeria as a whole and Nigeria has absolutely nothing to learn from lagos. The vast financial strength of lagos contradicts what is on ground. A visit to simple Abidjan will tell you this. No wonder people do not recognise lagos when propaganda, over-embelished photos of its skyline is released.

These are some things PDP did for the SE region

1. Building of international wing (massive building) of Enugu Airport

2. Sense of belonging: Senate president for over a decade

3. Igbos held key economic positions, delivering some of the best economic policies this country has ever enjoyed. PDP discovered Okonjo-Iweala and brought her home, Soludo, Arunma Oteh, Ndi Onyiuke, Dora Akunyili, etc. APC is busy rewarding thieves from the East who have no idea what they are assigned to do.

4. Gave Ojukwu state burial - something APC would never have done considering his history

5. Enugu - Port Harcourt railway was functional under Goodluck Jonathan and was the most lucrative in the country at the time. Yes, I once took that train.

6. Jonathan kicked off the Second Niger bridge and paid over N10 billion required for the initial kickoff of the PPP project. APC only ensured it was completed

7. PDP built Federal University, Ndufe-Alike, Ebonyi State

PS: I am neither a PDP nor an APC member, but it's absurd to compare what the former did for the region to what the latter did.

Strictly speaking it is not direct to London Gatwick , you need to change aeroplanes and re-check-in your baggage at Lagos airport. It only means that you can buy your ticket and fly Airpeace to London Gatwick from Anambra airport.
