Politics / APC Primaries: Osinbajo Group Dares Tinubu, Says VP Won’t Step Down by Ebunoluwa2020(f): 8:56am On May 23, 2022
Ahead of next week’s presidential convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, The Progressive Project TPP – an umbrella organization of all pro-Yemi Osinbajo support groups, has dismissed speculations that the vice president was considering stepping down for a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group noted that as the APC prepares for its presidential primaries, paid agents and loyalists of some aspirants have intensified the spread of falsehoods against the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Director of Operations at The Progressive Project TPP, Alhaji Usman Aliyu Usman noted on Sunday that “some paid agents and other supporters who feel threatened by the candidature of Professor Osinbajo seem determined for a gutter fight which Osinbajo supporters cannot join”.

Part of the statement reads; “One of our visible supporters, Professor Olusola Adeyeye, a two-term Senator who represented Osun Central Senatorial District between 2011 to 2019 made some weighty statements about the APC presidential primaries on Saturday and by Sunday, really baseless and mischievous anti-Osinbajo statements began circulating.

“Unfortunately, one of these came from Mr. Daniel Bwala, an aide to Deputy Senate President, Senator Omo-Agege who currently appears to moonlight as spokesman for the Bola Tinubu campaign.

“Specifically, without any proof, Mr. Bwala started circulating a video clip with claims that Professor Yemi Osinbajo is ‘allegedly planning to step down for Asiwaju’; Mr. Bwala had no evidence and he ought to know better than going to town with such.”

“Without doubt, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is still riding high in the race and our decision not to interfere in some camps’ deliberate spread of illusion and untruths is only motivated by our genuine confidence in our candidate’s prospects.

“As stated long ago, no group linked to TPP will join any individual or group in playing gutter politics or smearing others but we need to unequivocally state that Professor Yemi Osinbajo is not contemplating any measure of capitulation to any candidate.

“While we are sworn to total allegiance to the Constitution, patriotic values and the spirit of good sportsmanship, we denounce the misleading information and unbecoming tricks that some supporters in other presidential candidates’ camps embrace so eagerly.

“We denounce too, the baseless ad unhelpful information being randomly disseminated by the likes of Mr. Bwala.

Politics / APC Convention: Rousing Ovation For Osinbajo In Rivers, Says ‘we Will Win’ by Ebunoluwa2020(f): 8:39pm On May 19, 2022
By Oluwafemi Popoola

Barely two weeks to the All progressives Congress (APC) Convention slated for May 29, 2022, the arrival of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, in Rivers State was applauded by the delegates and stakeholders of the party who ushered him into the state known as “treasure base of the nation.”

The Vice President, who was in Rivers State, in continuation of his tour of states for meeting with delegates and stakeholders of the party, also commissioned the first PYO Presidential Campaign Office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, which was greeted by loud applause from the crowd of people that gathered.

While the Vice President dedicated his campaign office to God, expressing confidence that a new day has come to Nigeria, he said, it was a great pleasure for him to be in the state, to officially open the PYO Campaign Office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Preparing to cut the ribbon for the official commissioning of the edifice, the Vice President, declared: “We commission the PYO Campaign Office for the benefit of our party and the benefit of Nigeria, and we declare here, this coming election, including the primaries, we will win, the PYO campaign will win, Professor Yemi Osinbajo will win, and all of us who are here will win, in Jesus Mighty Name,” to what the large gathering shouted a resounding “Amen.”

Earlier in his meeting with the Rivers State APC executives and party delegates, the Vice President called for their support in cheering the party to victory at the general elections, while also appealing for calmness and decorum among his fellow aspirants, saying contestants should give no room for animosity or conflict in the process.

He advised that others should rally around whoever clinches the presidential ticket for the sake of the party, while addressing the APC delegates and stakeholders during his visit to Rivers State, Port Harcourt, on Thursday, May 19, 2022.

During his ongoing consultations with the stakeholders and delegates of the APC in the state, Osinbajo said: ” There is no need for any kind of conflict especially all of us who are presidential aspirants. All of us who are presidential aspirants have either worked together, ate together in one place or the other I mean.”

“Amaechi has been to my house several times, he knows my family, I know his family, his son and my son are close friends, we work together in every possible way, we are all aspirants today but only one person will emerge, not two, only one and we must be prepared to work with that person, that is the way up.”

Continuing, the VP remarked that he was pleased that they (the delegates) were ready to interact with him and ask some questions about his ambition which he said he would gladly answer.

He said, “We need more energy here in Rivers State, just like the Chairman has said, there is a lot to fight for.”

“We will make progress by God’s grace. Let me first thank you very much the Chairman, the Exco and all members of our great party who are here for a very warm welcome and for being here to welcome me to this great state and our party and our party secretariat.”

“I must tell you that there is nowhere in the country that we are not proud of the APC here in Rivers State. Everyone, every member of our party. The simple reason is that those of us in the opposition long enough know what it is to be an opposition party.

We in Lagos were in opposition for 16 years. So, we know what it is, we know how we can be oppressed when you are in the opposition and how difficult it is to survive so that you are vibrant like you are able to come together in large numbers,” the Vice President said.

Politics / Twitter User Calls Out Tinubu For Copying Osinbajo's Model Of Consultation by Ebunoluwa2020(f): 10:14am On May 19, 2022
A twitter user, identified as Kemisola Adekunle, yesterday has called out former Lagos governor and a presidential hopeful under the platform of All progressives Congress, APC Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for copying Osinbajo's style of politicking in his engagement with the party delegates and stakeholders of the party

Recall that both Tinubu and Osinbajo are aspirants under the All progressive congress(APC) and will lock horns with other aspirants at the presidential primaries on 29th of this month.

The twitter user with the handle @KemisolaAdekun1 posted a picture of both Osinbajo and Tinubu laid side by side with both waving hands to bystanders. He indicated that Tinubu has never waved his hands or used the coaster bus since he began his consultation clearly indicating that the APC chieftain is copying Osinbajo.

The handle also said that Tinubu follows Osinbajo wherever he goes, implying that his camp does not have a clear strategy.

She tweeted "BATISTS campaign lack originality. Everything we do they copy and they copy badly. We went to Kano, they went to Kano, we went to Gombe & Ilorin, they rushed there. They say we are only good in photography, but see now!

Spot the diff. here & win a prize

#copycopykoeasy" she concluded.

While commenting under the tweet, a user with the handle @HannahAdedoyin2 opined that rather than wave hands inside luxury buses to bystanders, Tinubu flexes exotic cars to wherever he goes but immediately began using Osinbajo's style when it became clear that Osinbajo was having an edge.

She tweeted "Tinubu will rather flex exotic cars and show luxury rather than use the same automobile carrying everyone. Now that he sees Osinbajo's fine tactics, he's copying."

She tweeted further" PYO lead, others follow"

Politics / Tinubu Opts For Standing Microphone, Hides His Shaking Left Hand. by Ebunoluwa2020(f): 8:56pm On May 18, 2022
As presidential aspirants across party lines continue their quest to clinch the primary ticket of their respective parties, Asiwaju Tinubu today equally continued his consultation, this time to Bauchi state

Over the last few months, his health status has been a subject of conversation among Nigerians who believe he's suffering from a disease called Parkinson, an ailment that causes tremor of muscles, slowness of movement, impaired balance among other things.

It is believed that the disease is the sole cause of Asiwaju's discomfort in his left hand. This has withheld him from comfortably holding anything, especially a microphone while addressing the public of recent.

Visiting bauchi today, Tinubu opted for a standing mic while his troubled left hand was also hidden from the camera. This will continue to be a source of concern for Nigerians.

We need a leader who is fit, a leader with the physical and psychological strength to withstand the challenges ahead.

Politics / APC Convention: The Reality At Hand by Ebunoluwa2020(f): 12:12pm On May 18, 2022
By Seun Johnson

As the APC primary election draws closer, it is expected to see each camp of the presidential aspirants in the political arena of the ruling All Progressives Party, APC to begin to play different political games in other to draw victory to their camps.

As evidences of different tactics by each camp emerge, reality begins to stare at us. Both Asiwaju Tinubu and Vice President Osinbajo's camps are out there to the woo delegates ahead of the primary election . Each camp wants to be seen as being ahead of the other camp in the scheme of things.

The controversy that ensued when it was time for the aspirants to fill the forms for the party primaries was a dramatic one. The forms had required to be signed by statutory delegates for each aspirant. Then, came the Tinubu camp saying that they had secured the signatures of 12 sitting governors, thereby laying claim to be far ahead of Osinbajo.

The Osinbajo camp came with a bigger and better picture that not only confirms their weight but also indicating their reach, they were able to secure 14 sitting governors' signatures and at the same time got the signatures of Lawmakers and others. For anybody who has little understanding of mathematics, 14 is bigger and 12. There is no controversy about that.

The obvious reality, as far of the APC convention is concerned, is that the Osinbajo momentum is moving fast, nothing seems to stop the man. He's in a clear lead to get the party ticket judging from happenings in the current political space.

One very important reason why I think the VP has a good chance in winning the party ticket is the way Osinbajo has redefined his campaign strategy by reaching out to the party delegates before the day of the primary election. It was a break from the norm. Our traditional politicians always wait on the D day to 'monitize" the process. But PYO has changed the game. He's in a clear lead.

The majority of the delegates are closer to the ordinary people in the street. They listen to the pulse of the people who have a huge voting power. The public opinion prefers an Osinbajo presidency to a Tinubu's as evidenced by the recent polls conducted some weeks ago by one independent body.

For the delegates, apart from their personal gain it will also be fulfilling to them to see the man they vote for become the eventual winner of the 2023 presidential election. That man is professor Yemi Osinbajo. Nigerians are waiting.
