During the past period Nigeria Fashion Industry has recorded huge success, the industry has produced creative people and fashion houses that are internationally recognised, hence have become ambassadors of the industry and country contributing positively to the image of our nation. Yet, while we have experienced an appreciable growth and seen a good number of successful fashion shows in Nigeria, there is this consistently widening gap between the established fashion designers and upcoming ones. This growth in the industry cannot be seen as holistic, until the industry is able to create platforms that will provide mentor-ship for and enable both the established and emerging designers grow alongside each other. Inspired by the need and search for a new and exciting platform which will celebrate fashion and Nigerians whose hard-work and ingenuity has made this progress possible, as well serve as a stepping stone and create an enabling environment, network and provide the much needed mentorship to young, creative emerging designers and runway models, TEFS has introduced the Eleventh Fashion Show to inspire and celebrate passion, creativity, flair and determination. These are virtues that make a great fashion designer. The Eleventh Fashion Show is aimed at providing a platform for creative designers to display their art and equal opportunity to models to showcase their talents, boosting their confidence. Its also an opportunity for young designers and models to express the glamour of our culture through style. TEFS is an apt event to promote youth and thus contributing to or goal as an organization. TEFS also aims at providing awareness for upcoming talents in other areas such as music and also through the exhibition of products and goods The event is set to hold for its second edition coming 4th of November 2017 in Nigeria and is also expecting over 1500 Fashion Lovers As Guest.

The former beauty queen is prepared for the uphill task of unseating an incumbent Chairman of the Sapele Local Government Area in Delta State at the polls in November, 2017 when the Local Government election is expected to hold. Gwen Tagharha, an advocate of formal education for youths as a great step towards restructuring the human minds will be slugging it out at the primaries with political jugernauts at the grassroots level under the banner of the People's Democratic Party, PDP. The participation of women in Nigerian politics has been limited but the beautiful and very young woman might be drawing inspiration from the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Theresa May and other frontline women leaders across the world towards positivity. She believes governance is for the young, intelligent and the service-minded people with the vision to heal the people from the sickness of maladministration which has birthed the general apathy towards politics. The Nigeria Farmers Group and Cooperative Society (NFG-CS) has called on states government to support mechanised farming to boost food production across the country. The National Coordinator of the group, Mr Redson Tedheke, made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gaate, Nasarawa State on Monday. According to him, for the nation to attain self-sustenance in food production, the state governments must key into the agricultural revolution of the Federal Government by supporting mechanised farming. “If we really want to feed ourselves as a nation and stop importation of food, mechanised farming must be initiated and supported across the country. “A country of over 170 million people cannot guarantee food security in this 21st century with hoe and cutlass farming. “It is not enough to say people, especially the youths should go to farm without making the sector attractive with the requisite technical sophistication. “The state governments are closer to the rural areas where there are a lot of arable lands lying fallow, therefore they should provide the necessary platforms for massive mechanised farming,” he urged. Tedheke said that as Nigeria was currently seeking diversification from oil, sustained mechanised farming was the surest way to building a viable economy. He said that besides boosting production efficiency, farm mechanisation would encourage large scale production, improves the quality of farm produce to create jobs and produce raw materials for local industries. “The use of tractors, trucks, combine harvesters, airplanes helicopters, and other vehicles for modern farming will not only put good food on our tables but will encourage youth participation in agriculture and rural development.” Tedheke said that the NFG-CS was a rural community-based farm settlements initiative geared toward farming across the country to ensure food security for Nigerians. He said that the farm located at Gaate village, a rural settlement along Keffi-Akwanga road in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, was a 1000 hectares maize farmland. According to him, the group is planning to establish farms across the six geo-political zones of the nation as part of its “Farm to Feed Nigeria’’ programme. He said that it had also established a farm in Adamawa State with the support of the state government. He said that plans were underway for the group to begin the farming of ginger in Kaduna state. Tedheke said that the NFG-CS was a formation of men and women from across Nigeria interested in farming wherever they might be, in response to the administration’s drive to boost agriculture. He said that the group was being assisted by Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the CBN through the Anchor Borrowers Programme. “President Muhammadu Buhari has stressed the need to grow Nigeria from within, and be self-reliance through food provision is one of such ways. “The CBN and other relevant agencies of government are now working seriously toward developing the agriculture sector. “Since this government has clearly shown sincerity and the political will to develop the sector, we have to take the necessary steps. “The Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe, has personally shown that he is a farmer and wants farming to strive by pledging all necessary support to us,” he said.(NAN)

Founder of National Unity and Peace Corps, Prof. Humphrey Ogoegbunam, has alleged that Dr. Chinedu Nneji forged his signature at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and declared himself founder, Chairman and Commandant General of the Corps. This was even as he admitted that the bill passed by the National Assembly was purely that of Dickson Akoh’s Peace Corps of Nigeria, adding that talks were underway to absorb his men into Akoh’s group. Ogoegbunam, who was addressing the Senate committee on Judiciary and Human Rights on Tuesday, said, Nneji only joined the Peace Corps in 2013. According to him, Nneji, who was barely 2 months in the formation, was called upon to assist a female officer in running the affairs of the Corps while he (Ogoegbunam) embarked on medical trip outside the FCT. “When I came back, I saw his name as Commandant General, and I asked, how come? How would you have become the Commandant General just like that “He went to the CAC, forged my signature and withdrew the constitution that was submitted. He removed my name as Chairman of BoT and wrote his name as Chairman. He also constituted a 13 National unity and peace corps members to pass a resolution removing me as the chairman of the organization" Ogoegbunam alleged. He said petition had already been submitted to the National Assembly and security agencies. Ogoegbunam also alleged that Nneji had been threatening his life. “Since I returned back to Abuja, over 2 years ago, he has refused to see me. I have not set my eyes on him untill today”, he disclosed to the Senate. Prof. Ogoegbunam tendered evidences before the Senate and urged it to allow the establishment of Nigerian Peace Corps, which he said, would enable his organization which has been existing for 30 years, be co-opted into Dickson Akoh’s group. When asked by the Senate if he would integrate the Natioal Unity and Peace Corps into his group if it was eventually established, Akoh said the Corps was all about the Nigerian youths and that he would not object to it.

Beauty pageant organisers have called on parents to promote and support girl-child education. Mr Emmanuel Anabueze, the Project Director, Queen of South-East Nigeria, made the call on Monday in Owerri , in an interview with News Men. Anabueze, said that special attention should be given to girl-child education, since females are the mothers of the family. “Every child needs education; however, there is a saying that when you educate a woman, you educate a nation. “Since every girl-child is a potential mother, it becomes very important that special attention should be given to their education,” he said. Anabueze noted that it was regrettable that many young girls, especially in rural areas across the country, who should be in school, were subjected to one form of child labour or the other. He said that if the trend is not checked, it would pose social and economic crisis, especially in this knowledge –driven age. “From childhood to 18, children are supposed to be in school and not to hawk in the streets or sent to serve as housemaids. “In most cases, after primary school, many parents do send them to learn a trade or to stay with a relative in the city, without knowing what is happening to them. Learning a trade is good he added, but an educated business person either male or female will do better and become more relevant to society,’’ he said. Anabueze said that the South-East region was particularly affected by the trend, adding that something needed to be done. He added that it was his strong desire to advocate children education, especially the girl-child that led to establishing the initiative. “The pageant is a platform to create awareness for children education, especially the girl-child, with special interest in the rural areas. “It is very common in the South-East, where I come from, to see young people sent out as housemaids and other forms of child labour. “This Movement is a platform to enlighten parents and guardians on why their children should be educated, “he explained.
