The hypocrisy and selective justice of the Nigerian media and its Siamese twins, the public affairs analysts and quasi-NGOs, is simply out of this world. This much is exposed by the arrest of a kidnapping ring behind cases of rampant kidnappings in Kano. A covert operation by the Kano Command of the NPF led to the rescue of 9 children who were kidnapped and “smuggled” to Onitsha, Anambra State and subsequently renamed and converted to Christianity. One only need to scratch the surface to expose the repulsive double standards of the Nigerian media, the overbearing community of quasi-analysts operating with a seeming “over-upright” attitude and many religious groups deceptively disguised as NGOs. The story of Ese Oruru is still fresh in the minds of Nigerians for better understanding of the theme of this piece. Sometime in 2016, an over-exuberant young girl of 15, Ese Oruru, eloped with her Kano boyfriend from Bayelsa to Kano, the Southern press went wild, saying she was abducted and forced to accept Islam. The umbrella body of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) reacted to Osuru’s elopement with acerbic assumptions and unfounded malicious conclusions sparing no Nigerian Muslim in the frenzy. The body warned traditional rulers and religious leaders “not to encourage” forceful marriage of underage girls against their wish, noting that such practice is a violation of their constitutional rights. Meanwhile, the two love birds only acted on their childish impulses to make real their infatuation. For Oruru and her boyfriend, CAN and its affiliates had a field day reducing the North and the entire Muslim community in Nigeria into a devilish and pedophiliac community while a large army of hyperactive “analysts” and “NGOs” amplified the campaign to maximize effect. Annoyingly, on the case of the criminal abduction of the Kano 9, not even the fact that they were renamed and forcefully converted into Christianity could attract the attention of CAN and the Jos based “Stefanos Foundation” that “gallantly” fought Oruru’s case, to condemn this criminality or at least, apologize to the North and Nigerian Muslims for deliberately misreading and misinterpreting the Oruru case just to satisfy a craving for a seeming addiction to lower the esteem of Islam and Muslims in Nigeria. Who but a dunderhead could miss Oruru’s case for the isolated and common incidence of adolescence exuberance it was? And yes, who but a dunderhead could miss the unforgivable criminality that was the Kano 9 abduction? Somehow, newspapers are empty of the boisterous columns that hitherto, hosts “erudite” columnists that could easily pass for a walking, talking “Nigerian human right laws” going by the ease they shamelessly twist or (mis)quote such laws just to suit their malicious agendas — always trying to outdo each other in what, at best, could be said to be a frenzy of investment in commercial bereavement whenever individualistic incidences like this happens; when a Muslim go off the road and harm a Christian. How much brain would it cost to see and understand criminality and deal with it for what it is? The Kano 9 abduction is a clear case of criminality and no matter how much some people would try to suppress it, its significance to our national development and cohesion would remain glaring. This is one case I would love to see pursued to its logical conclusion. Let me at this point explain that in Islam, religion is a matter of conviction not forceful conversion. The idea that Muslims forcefully convert Christians into Muslims whether in Nigeria or elsewhere is false in its entirety. This may explain why Nabee Muhammad (SAW) peacefully co-existed with Christians and Jews in Medina. |
Charleys:Having server is different from transmitting results electronically to the server. Double failure for Atiku... Secondus and lawyers have scam atiku b ig time... Double sadness |
Southernminorit:Illiterate... You will not even read what the man had said... Imagine if Kano governor said kanao is an Islamic state... How all of you will open your diety mouth and condemn him... Nonsense |
Brownshugar69:Nobody says Atiku is not a Nigerian now. The cogent point about his eligibility to contest to be president of Nigeria is that he was not born a Nigerian i.e. He wasn't Nigerian at birth as required by the Constitution! He became a Nigerian in 1961 after a referendum added his birthplace that was part of Cameroon to Nigeria at age 15, having been born in 1946. The constitution is very clear on who can be president of Nigeria. The person has to be 100% a Nigerian at birth. You cannot backdate the referendum of 1961 that made Atiku become a Nigerian to the date of his birth in 1946. However, all Nigerians born in that his birthplace since 1961 referendum are fully and wholly Nigerians who are qualified to be president of Nigeria, but not anyone of them born before the referendum. Summarily; Atiku Abubakar is fully a Nigerian but not qualified to be president of the country. His case is similar to what the Republicans wanted to use to nullify Obama's presidency, until he provided his birth certificate that showed he was born in Hawaii, on US soil. Unfortunately, Atiku wasn't born on Nigerian soil as at the day he was born. |
Now democracy is in danger. And the court is bias.. He is trying to consol himself. Nonsense |
Biglittlelois:That means the election was conducted between only atiku and Buhari.. Look at Katsina and taraba results for example, Buhari’s Votes plus Atiku's votes is equal to Total number of Accredited voters,, other. Parties didn't get a single vote.. Chai PDP and Atiku are confused Not only that, it’s the only election in ancient and recent times that not a single vote was invalidated |
A legal practitioner, Robert Clarke Clarke, says the vote President Muhammadu Buhari got from the northern part of the country cannot be challenged in court. He stated this on Sunday while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today. The Senior Advocate noted that Buhari enjoys the goodwill from the northern people because of what he described as the ‘President’s track records’. “Look at the presidential election, nobody can challenge the number of people who voted for President Buhari in the north because there is a track record. “In 2003, Buhari beat any other candidate in the north, in 2007 he beat any other candidate in the north, in 2011 he beat any other candidate in the north, (same in) 2015. So in 2019, if you look at his performance when you look at his performance, there is a footprint.” He stated. His comments come two weeks after the People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, inaugurated his legal team to challenge the result of the just concluded presidential election. READ ALSO: Ananaba Backs Electronic Voting As Solution To Ballot Box Snatching Prior to the setting up of the team headed by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr Livy Uzoukwu, Atiku had rejected the result, alleging several malpractices including the use of the military to perfect voters’ intimidation and suppression in PDP strongholds. He had also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of conniving with INEC officials and security agents to fabricate “bogus figures and outright falsification of the returns from the polling units”. The PDP candidate, thereafter, said he would use all available legitimate means to challenge the result of the election. But Clarke stressed that he would have advised Atiku against challenging the result if he was his (Atiku’s) lawyer. According to him, an aggrieved loser at an election should show that the election was riddled with malpractice before succeeding at the tribunal. “Let’s be honest. The criteria for challenging an election is three-fold. When you go to an election petition, you must first of all show that the election was riddled with malpractice. “After bringing out the malpractice, you must show that those malpractices affected the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). “If I were Atiku’s lawyer, I would have told him that it not easy to challenge an election that has given someone four million votes because when we look at the five states of the southeast, the totality of all the states is not up to half, two million votes of what Buhari (got) not to talk of four million,” he stated |
