A man who was caught with meat from a threatened species of crocodile at the Calgary International Airport earlier this year has been fined $7,500.

On Sept. 20, Adeleke Abubakar Ali-Ibironke pleaded guilty in the Alberta Court of Justice to one count of unlawfully importing a species of animal without obtaining the required permits.

Ali-Ibironke arrived in Calgary on Feb. 26 and did not declare any food or animal products.

A further investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency discovered six pounds of meat products in his luggage, officials said.
Subsequent testing identified the meat as an african dwarf crocodile, which is classified as a threatened species.

Ali-Ibironke was charged under the Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act(opens in a new tab), a piece of legislation created to protect Canadian and foreign species of plants and animals from exploitation.

African dwarf crocodiles have been listed as a Level 1 species at risk under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) since 1995.
According to CITES(opens in a new tab), commercial trade in these species is generally not allowed.

The fine will be paid to the Government of Canada's Environmental Damages Fund(opens in a new tab).

A frnd sent me money from Canada through Ria customer care cox his app was having issues, but he discovered that he could either exchange in USD or Naira, he can't send CAD to Nigeria.. I was worried cox i didn't know about it but he ended up sending. I want to ask if it's true guys that CAD can't be sent without exchanging. Now he wants to send again and i told him to try sendwave app, he did and only saw USD and NGN only, does it mean CAD can't be sent to Nigeria? and if it's so, which transfer app has lower exchange rate from CAD to USD? What does it mean to be market ready?

In my case i already have my Copr (express entry) and i have been applying for jobs. I'm in tech and have over 6 years experience in software qa engineering and 1.5 in data science & analytics , i have several certifications and already have a masters.

But i really could do with any advice as to how to get a job because I've been applying but nothing yet.

I have 6 months before Copr expires and I'm really hoping to get a job before i land. What are my chances? I don't have a Canadian experience tho, so I dunno.

The stories i hear are scary but I'm very optimistic and hopeful.

Pls any suggestions and advice will be much appreciated. Thank you

you have never worked in the hospital before. So you won't believe. I have worked straight for over 48 hours before in the hospital. This happens when you are on weeknd call duty. You will work from Saturday morning till Monday evening before you go home and u still continue ur usual work by Tuesday.

I will be travelling to Canada very soon on a PR Visa and I am thinking of booking Qatar since it's the cheapest/affordable I can get at the moment. My concern is the layover in the US, I want to be sure if a transit visa will be required or not. Did anyone fly Qatar recently with layover in the US?
