pcguru1: I guess am just angry I haven't been promoted despite doing and contributing a lot of work, what i've come to notice is that I have no visibility despite how much i put, management never seems to notice anything because despite they still giving me work, they are still under the impression I am not doing anything, Hmmm. Maybe you should confide in someone in your workplace concerning how you feel about your career. Probably someone at the top who can pull some strings for you or just somebody you can talk to. I may not have your experience, but I have learnt that expressing your mind, talking to (genuine & successful) people about how you feel, really goes a long way about how we handle situations that we think are bigger than us. I share my thought (career-wise) with one of my bosses, I know he can't do anything as regard my present situation (like I am stuck in just one role for the past 3 years plus I earn peanut) but when he shares his experience of how he has suffered and how he managed to get his breakthrough, it gives me a kind of faith in myself (though dim) but it is better than feeling sorry and thinking the whole world is crashing on one's neck. Just get out there, you will find out people are doing better even with bigger problems than yours. And concerning your job I don't know how connected you are in getting a replacement, but if we are in the same shoe. Still (put the yam in the fire while you search for the knife to peel the back) Yoruba adage. |

emmyreb: I don't think there's problem with him coz I'm having a 3yrs+ nephew that doesn't take anything apart from garri or bread and tea even though we do force him to take the bread and tea. I think you need to force it on him stylishly or consult your doc or elderly people I have been thinking if I am only the one in this Scenario. My Boy will be three this March and has refused to take any kinds of solid food you can name. He seldom eats bread and tea, his only meal has been soluble, we have tried all the tricks we can learn. Once he noticed any additional substance in his golden morn, he will make sure he vomits everything he has taken so far. I stopped complaining when older folks keep blaming us for introducing solid to him late at 9 months. |

BiafraIShere: I subscribe to break up as a last resort, the best would have been to have semi autonomous regions where everyone controls their destiny, but obviously, the same North is obstinately against it. I have long discovered that life in Nigeria is a situation of everyone for himself and God for us all. The country is headed for the rocks, the elite have since been deceiving themselves that Nigeria always survives against all odds, so they believe they can always get away with their impunity. Personally, I have resigned to faith as regards the country. Morealso, from my point of view. I think the elite knows what is best to be done, but decide to impoverish the youth by not doing what is right because they are afraid that a time will come when the Youth will want to demand a change in status quo. They know if they is poverty, and everyone is fighting to survive and seeking miracle from God . . . nobody will be interested in locking head with them for power to bring about the revolution that will turn this Country round for good. They have succeeded in placing all their kids and relative in various government parastatals. Naija which way now, Plus 50 years ago, it has been the same old story. Unemployment, Bad Roads, No Clean water, No security, No light. Even if every one of us should get our PVC, nothing is changing yet because the system is built just for them. |

... Are we blind or what?! Come 2019, you will still see a lot of youth dancing and carrying placards to support all these evil politicians (whose ward are tuck in a safe country somewhere). Where do we get it all wrong? How is it going to be for the generations to come, if Education; which they say is the best legacy is nothing to write home about in this Country. Even Ghana supersedes us in terms of quality of Education ..... Ha, O ga O! |

corpershun: I on the other hand live in Nigeria and I have needs for credit but cannot get because interest rate is high and not affordable. Please there is no how you can compare the UK in terms of standard of living, welfare and life expectancy to Nigeria. My tailor took loan from a microfinance bank 100,000 naira to repay 150,000 for 6 months. If the monthly repayment money is short of 700 naira, the way those people would come to disgrace you in the shop, you won't wish for your enemy to collect loan.
I hope you are aware the current life expectancy of an average Nigerian is 54 years predicted to 44 years if the country's economic condition continues like this.
My dear the truth is, it is only the wealthy/very rich that enjoy this country, the poor and middle class are left suffering. The road to my street is very bad, my light is rationalised, IKEDC has refused to give me the pay as you use meter due to corruption yet give me exorbitant bill, the waste company doesn't come pick up thrash because of the road, I spend so much on fuel daily, I can't cook so much and freeze as there is no light. Now if all these basic amenities cannot be met, tell me what I am enjoying in the country as a citizen even though I pay my tax both directly and indirectly. I bought pizza for 2400 and the tax deducted was 350; Just Imagine!
OP wonderful thread, I have learnt a lot. You are very fortunate. 100 likes for this |
