Culture › Re: Ooni Of Ife Warns Against Distortion Of Yoruba History by edrys(m): 12:29am On Dec 11, 2013 |
FOLYKAZE: People are mixing the spiritual and historical dimension of Oduduwa up.
Dark Energy was what the Yoruba people personalified as Oduduwa. If you could remember in the creation story, Obatala got drunk and Oduduwa took up his task from where he stopped.
- Obatala (deity of white clothes or light) here is the light particle which modern science said it kickstart how the universe came about. This is the major reason Obatala is said to be omnipresent because light spread to the end of the universe which produces space and time. The drunk state Obatala was represent the cooling state of those light particles.
- Oduduwa in the creation hypothesis took over the creation task from Obatala. This implies that the original explosion that created the universe produced massive quantities of light in the form of subatomic particles. As the universe cooled these particles joined together to form simple elements. The elements in turned joined together to form stars. In time, certain stars collapsed, forming black holes that imploded on themselves until they created a fission reaction. This sent huge clouds of complex elements throughout the universe. It was a cloud of complex elements that cooled to form the solor system, and within the solor system evolved the ecosystem that exists in earth. Oduduwa in the spiritual sense is the dark energy.
Western science teaches that all of Creation evolved from the light produced during the primal explosion at the beginning of time. Yoruba teaches that all Creation evolved from the White Cloth of Obatala.....a robe. The chain used by Obatala to travel from the Realm of the Ancestors to Earth appears to be a symbolic representation of the structure used to transmit genetic information from one generation to the next. The genetic code that is used to form each species is passed through a biochemical substance called DNA. When DNA is viewed under a microscope it appears as a double helix, which is similar to the pattern of a chain.
Symbolic language are used to describe a series of evolutionary events that match closely with the theories of Creation that have been proposed by contemporary Western science. So you should be very careful when handling character in Yoruba spirituality.
Also in the Historical account of Oduduwa, Yoruba people were saying Oduduwa came from heaven which implies that the account provided by the Igodomigodo (bini) that the last Ogiso (king from the sky) son was the person who the yoruba people called Oduduwa.
- Ogiso means king from the sky. So they aint wrong and this got nothing to do with the story in the bible.
- Oduduwa was from the east as believed. Benin is in the east of Ife today.
Get your fact straight man.....when you forget your history, then you are worse than animal. Cheers This is educative. |

booqee: actually i've had every intention of doing certification courses especially NIM even b4 service, but d kain corpers wey dey my ppa are so discouraging and have made it look like its useless and a waste of time, coupled with d fact dat some investment and skill i'm learning are taking most of my time and finance for now. I hope to do it with the batch C's next diet. But the problem is their nearest study centre is not even in my lga, the place is so far, but IPMP is close to me tho. How much did you spend all through?? How was the exam like?? It's good to hear that you are investing and acquiring skills. I wish I can do that too, but Na inside village I dey. Exam fee, Modules and ID Card #10,500. There study centre is also far from where my PPA is, at least I spent #600 as transport whenever I go to town(Yenegoa). I met some Corper who came from across the sea for the exam. You can get the materials and read on your own, and their past questions; it will give you insight on what the question looks like. IPMP is also good from what I've gathered but it's not inline with my Course of study. I hope I'm of help. |

It has all that you've mentioned. So stop comparing both fones.

booqee: so this thread still dey exist?? hi everyone! i'll like to know bout NIM and IPMP too I sat for the Nov / Dec NIM diet, and I must confess it's worth it (I read like an undergraduate). The certification may not be comparable to ICAN and the likes, but for me it was a means of getting busy and refreshing my memory. I have friends who sat for IPMP Exam, one will be writing the online base in the coming days. If you have interest in the certification, please do. Don't listen to people that don't have valuable advise to give. You may not see the value now, but the value is You. |

Education › Re: The Fallen Standard Of Education In Nigeria by edrys(m): 1:56pm On Nov 24, 2013 |
corruptst: The deplorable state of Education in Nigeria calls for serious concern among the government and the stakeholders (parents, teachers, students and employers of labour). Going down the memory lane is essential for us to know where we are coming from, where we are today and where we are heading to. Gone are those days when just having 5 credits in your O' level (Maths and English included) gave the alluring impression of an above average student, and having 8 distinctions and 1 credit were results reserved for the genuis (exceptionally brilliant ones). Even as the best graduating student and best English Language student in the government owned secondary school I attended, I could still remember looking into my O' level result and wondering how I got a C6 in English. Tough luck, I must confess. That's how education was then. I do not claim to have enjoyed the best that Nigeria education offered in its prime but looking back, I think it's far better than what suffice now.
What do we have now? Any Tom, Dick and Harry flash O'level results for all to see with outright incredible grades yet they could hardly say/write a complete sentence in English. Same applies to other subjects, or how else can someone who had B3 in Mathematics have problems with solving factorization. If you are one of those saying, "It's not everyone that's good in Maths", then count yourself among those I am pointing accusing fingers at.
During my preclinical years in the university, I once tried organizing WAEC and JAMB preparatory tutorials for students in my area but got the surprise of my life when one of the chaps asked me about the arrangements I have made for "Special Centres". Not that I'm hearing that for the 1st time but coming from a boy that had not even attempted any of such exams and the level of details he gave was so disheartening. All efforts to prove that the tutorials will be enough proved abortive. JAMB exams are not left spared as well, even with numerous strategies devised to curtail exam malpractices, it's still the same old story. A handbill for a tutorial class was like, "Embarrass UTME by scoring above 280". I jus smiled and walked away thinking about "our time". Was it that JAMB exams have gotten simpler or this same students have become more brilliant than we were? These were questions begging for answers but I guess we all know now.
To be continued... And what do you have to say regarding Schools that organise Special Centre for their Students. I think corruption has eaten deep into the fragment of our Society. |
