From my experience, I rate it 95%. 2 years plus with my 32" Smart TV from polystar. No regret whatsoever.

1.Lagos traffic

Heaven knows these is one of the hellish and most annoying thing Lagosian go through daily,all the road are either bad or being in the state of comatose for more than a year due to reconstructuring and slow executions of projects by hes croonics called contractors.

how do you explain the traffic on the island and mainland,u spend most of your time on traffic,you wonder what happen to the fear of lasma we have during fashola regime,all you see is danfo drivers picking and causing traffic in all bus stops.

2.Refuse

lagos has turn to what i called a bin,no street in lagos you will pass through where there will not be gabbages of rubbish in streets,highways etc,he he is clueless on managing waste that was going on fine during fashola era,Ambode gave expatriate to manage the waste in his state these can only be said of someone who is clueless.

3. Infrastructures.

forget all the Elephant project,Ambode is looting Lagos dry,no accountable on all the project in lagos,is either those projects are over budgeted or projected in a manner that one will wonder what's going on,remember Abule Egba bridge and Ojota pedestrian bridge this is just one of those project,and someone should tell him o stop buying generators to power those street,a sensible and visionary leaders envisage and solve problems that may arise in the future not buying generators to police and adding to global warming.

4.Education.

i have not seen anything in these area,Ambode still enjoy all the policies Fashola put into place,fashola build and renovated all the public schools and created some learning and research centres for children with special attributes,but ambode seems not to understand that Lagos populace needs more and viable world class education centres to meet up with the rest of the world.

Amdode has no idea to turn the education of the state around,go to some public school today it will suprise you that some don't have chairs they sit on floor to attends to lectures.


5.Electricity

someone should educate mr Ambode that the whole body of lagos is covered with water,and there is something they called Hydro thermal energy,these can generate more than 34,000 megawatts of electricity and he can sell to neighboring state and earn more money,he should stop buying generators to power all the street light in lagos,this is 2017 for heaven sake the arctic ice is melting,there is global warming he should meet professionals,a nuclear fusion reactors that can be easily shut down by water can serve the whole nation instead of waiting for the unfortunate people at the senate to pass a bill on devolutions of electricity bill that will never see the light of the day.

6.Employment

The lagos state govermnet website advertised some opening recently i will ask how many people was able to apply and get the job,he favored hes croonics,party cheiftance favored the meneber of hes church,no JOB is thrown at the masses,he recruited LASMA recently,where are they today,now neighborhood watch,he waste so much on unproductive projects,most of these projects also take eternity before execution.

Go to street of lagos all you see are hungry and angry youth roaming the street,cos no job which has already paved way to differnet crime in the state,he should come up with idea to employ the common man on the street not all these unproductive job that add nothing to the state.

7.Health.

lagos still don't have viable health scheme,go to our various hospital you will be amazed and cry for us as a nation's,no tools to work on,no word class health equipments you buy bed space,you pay for everything,annoying thing is they fly abroad if they have malaria,lagosian should be wise and these issues of God father has to stop,vote for a sensible and visionary leaders that will add value to your life.

So why did I leave?

1. No clear career progression: the business is set up to perpetuate the overall boss and his kids. It does not have a plan to raise successful and distinguished non-family members.

Exactly what is playing out in my Organization. I think they intentionally pay peanut to keep staff financially handicap from developing themselves.

2. There is no motivation for performance. Pay is poor and comes with the attitude that they're doing you a favour. There are no incentives. To add to it, they started cutting the already meagre bonuses. In 2 years I only got a 20k raise, despite being one of the star associates in the firm, quote and unquote.

Older colleagues who have worked for more than 6 years are not earning up to 80k. Mind you, He is the head of his Department, at times i just look at myself and weep inside.

Getting a new job was almost so easy

This is my fear, I hope to get started with my professional exam or Chartered before embarking on aggressive job search

I have gained like five-years worth of experience, so it was easy to get the attention of serious law firms.

What other skills can a Young Accountant get (I have working experience with Ms WORD, Excel, Power Point, SAGE Accounting)?

Lessons learnt;
1. At every point on the job, keep creating and adding value. That's what would stand you in good stead in the market.

2. Always have an exit plan else you become stuck.

3. Your confidence is your greatest asset as a professional. Guard it jealously. Most people will rely more on the confidence with which you put your points across than the merits of the points themselves (I might be wrong on this).

4. Keep the big picture in mind. Don't be carried away by the occasional peanuts designed to keep you stuck on the job. I had to drop my beloved offical car. No harm in short term discomfort for long term gain.


Would I want to do it again? Not sure o.

I need all this lesson in my Career right now. Two years plus down the line, I can't pin point any tangible career growth neither in kind nor wealth from my present position as an Account Officer. I am stuck at the exemption stage of my Professional exam.

I graduated in 2012, concluded my service in 2014. I taught at a primary school immediately after service. Got a job at an Insurance Brokering Firm in 2015. The pay is not encouraging when you consider the cost of living in Lagos; transport, rent and others. As it is; I'm only gathering experience because I'm surviving with the grace of God. Nothing is usually left at the end of the month to save so that I can enroll for ICAN. I also have passion for small business (buying & selling, small scale farming and computer services) but no capital to venture yet.
My wife also works with a school presently and the working condition is nothing to write home about, despite the peanut she earns, she has just been paid her December Salary few days ago.

I don't know if this is the right thing to do, but I wish somehow I could help this little boy to walk on his feet ( I strongly believe he can walk if remedial action or corrective surgery is carried out). I am in no way related to him, it just happened that I can't get my mind of him. I don't know the name of his ailment/deformity, all I know is that both his feet are curved in. I am imploring anyone who knows someone who can help him or has the resources to help this little boy (he could be our messi and c.ronaldo of tomorrow) to come to his aid.

what am using is a polystar Led tv not home theater. My tv is 3years old now and has never for a day give me any issue even in low voltage and I don't even use TV guide for it. My home theater is Djack

I use a Polystar Smart TV too, and so far no issue. Do you have any idea on how i can view the DTV channels? I have both the GOTV and startime channels on it.

to be sincere with you guys, u are wasting money on accommodation. when I started working in my salary was 40k/month and my rent per year was 36k/yr. yrs later I got another job of 60k/month my rent still 36k. then moved to 70k yet my rent still remain the same 36k/yr. earning uptown 100k am still there. I stay in a room/palour with toilet and bath only kitchen shared with water. I got married there, had two kids there and am still there but by year end, I will move to my house(3bed). I have upto 7plots of Land 1 had been developed 1 on foundation level. note my wife is not working...my personal decision not until now she took up teaching job. I maintained a family of 4 for years.....without borrow, all with what I earned. since I got married we had been buying pure water 11 bags every week at the rate of 600 naira for 5 years... couple with other expenses..do the math.

As a man, never give lanlalord two month salary....is not good.

Do they have choice than to live in mainland? House rent for mini-flat in average locations like Oworo, New Garage, Ojota, Obalende, Surulere, Gbagada/Bariga, Ojuelegba etc cannot be less than 300k per annum in Lagos, not to talk of other mini expenses that follows monthly. Unless you are living with your parent, you can't deny your knowledge of this.

It seems a lot of peeps don't know the reality on ground especially in Lagos where housing is costlier. When I moved from Abk to Lag, I was expecting to see a mini flat of about 10k per month because I paid 7k in Abk, but to my greatest surprise all the way from Abule Egba to Mile2, a manageable minflat goes for 200k per annum at Okota area of Lagos its 250k. Mind you I work on the island. All environs nearer to the Island i.e ebutte metta, orile, Otto are volatile for my liking.

Same situation I am in, only that I earn less than the OP. Life in Abk is far better than what I come to realise in Lag.
