BabsO2: With so many loans converted to shares, dividend payments is doable in a year or two. In fact Ellah management are better off embracing a strategy of being seen as a dividend growth business. It will soften the ground for future seeds of expansion. It will make the large volume of shares they currently hold more valuable on the medium term as well as in long term. Sir,I don't think a year is possible. |

leo1234: You are getting it all wrong. The men you are calling monkey hunters have access to privileged information than you do. If you don’t like what Locotrader or Megawealth01 post here, kindly block them and stop pouring sand in my garri. What will be your benefit if they leave this thread for you alone? Mind you, I have only Aradel and gtco in my portfolio and don't follow their calls but I am learning from them. Those that followed their calls have nothing to regret. Study them and see what you can learn except you are not here to make money.
Peace ✌ I have known for a long time that the junk stocks monkey hunters make use of the principle of 'herd mentality' ! And this forum is their avenue for enticing and attracting innocent newbies to their targeted stocks. It is the unsuspecting investors that bring the needed demands that lead to a quick increase in price . When the price gets to their target, they start selling to book profit. Their sole aim of buying most stocks is to pump and dump in order to book quick profit. They are never long term investors in the companies they are marketing for their monkey hunting business. I'm ready to keep them out of the illicit business of monkey hunting junk stocks. |

hallysonia: This question came right in time.
Currently, all my portfolios except Jaiz are red. Even the Jaiz self has reduced in return.
I have the following (with current return at -2.0% of the total money invested):
ABCTRANS bought at 5.42 - bought because I read a positive new about the company.
ARADEL bought at 528.53 - bought because the value is close to all-time low and based on technical/fundamental analysis
DS bought at 63.62 - bought because it is increasing, but didn't sell because it still has a strong fundamental
JAIZ bank bought at 4.53 - bought because I believe the bank will do well in the future
BUA Cement bought at 178.25 - ought because it is increasing. I didnt realize it was close to all time high
TRANSCORP bought at 52.70 - bought because it has a strong fundamental.
My plan is starting with 1.2million, but I have realized that these would turn into dust if care is not taken. How I wish I had read some previous conversion before making my investment decision.
Pa Emma, I was touched by your statement about "smart people learn from expert experience and those who want to learn from personal experience will suffer the most." Not that I'm learning based on my personal experience, but I can't factor out the fact that a 3 weeks old potential investor like me should be very patient. That I have money does not mean I have to make a wary investment decision.
megawealth2, come to my aid, edakun. You once said something about POVERTY and PROUDNESS. I am not proud o.
Streetinvestor2, nosa2, EDUCO, and others. E help wa.
PS: 1. I am potential investor, not really a trader. Currently running my PhD (Maths and Stat) in graduate school, so I don't have time for daily trading. 2. I am not interested in an interest based banks, breweries industries, gambling/lotto industry as well.
Apology for my brevity in typing.. Ali Since you are not interested in interest based companies,so UCAP and Nigerian banks are out of the options available to you. If I were you I will sell every stocks in this your portfolio and invest the proceed in Dangote Cement. You can never go wrong with Dangote Cement. Dangote Cement has a better earning than BUA cement. Its dividend yield is also better than that of BUA Cement. |

crownprince2017: Its so interesting seeing people feeling like the gods of the market. What will you expect from someone that sold his Ella at 4 just because he believed it will turn back and never return, saying the same thing at 19 even though he regretted for selling at 4.
I wondered how people come here to predict the market they had no control over, I know at 10 you would have told the person that bought at that price the same thing.
A company we are yet to have metrics to value can swing up the way we never imagined if the valuation is more than what the majority are imagining and do the other way round as well when the reality hit the market.
Well, many of you will still eat your words when the price go above 20 like you have done in the past.
Ella is at the point that a news could change everything, people speculating are not stupid.
Every possibility is open here and that is the reality. Is it that you hate enlightenment? What is wrong in investors with more than 30 years in the market sharing knowledge and wisdom to newbies like me? |

Princkez: +1 Dangote's encounter with Arch Bishop Benson Idahosa 2025 The encounter between Aliko Dangote and Archbishop Benson Idahosa is a well-known story in Nigeria, particularly within Pentecostal Christian circles. It is often cited as a pivotal moment in Dangote's life that propelled him towards his current status as Africa's richest man. The story, recounted in various ways, generally involves Idahosa, a prominent Pentecostal preacher, needing a seat on a fully booked flight from Benin City to Lagos. Dangote, then a young businessman, reportedly gave up his seat to allow Idahosa and his guest to travel. In return, Idahosa is said to have prophesied that the world would make way for Dangote, and that his business would expand beyond Africa. While the specific details of the encounter vary slightly across different accounts, the core narrative remains consistent: Dangote's act of generosity towards Idahosa was met with a powerful prophetic blessing that is believed to have played a significant role in his subsequent success. Some versions of the story also highlight Dangote's respectful attitude towards Idahosa, even though Dangote is a Muslim. Some accounts also mention Dangote supplying cement for free when building one of the largest churches in Nigeria, further emphasizing his connection to Idahosa and his ministry. What is the name of the church that Dangote supplied cement to free of charge ? |

If one is not careful a portfolio of N500 million filled with junk stocks can turn to N50 million.
Reason why financial institutions don't accept some stocks as collateral security I think it is because junk stocks lack cash flow in form of yearly dividends. |

emmanuelewumi: I am sorry you don't have a good understanding of the concept of Return on Invested Capital.
The huge liabilities of banks will reduce the ROIC
It is also a highly regulated industry, meaning they can't just increase their fees, interest rates etc
How many banks can actually payout 40% of their EPS as dividends?
By the way, I still have shares of Access, UBA and Zenith I have a good understanding of ROIC. Most Nigerian premium banks return on invested capital is not less than 10%.And 10% is a good one. The CBN's regulation is why I still have confidence in the well managed banks. This regulation will prevent them from going bankrupt. The low payout rate has helped them in growing their shareholder's funds. Their dividend yields are still good despite the low payout rate . |

emmanuelewumi: How many banks can deliver a return on Invested capital of 30%, None. We have some non banking stocks delivering return on Invested capital of 50% to 60%.
Some businesses are making accounting profits while some are creating wealth the produce EVA Economic Value Added, such business generate economic profits. Majority of these companies making 50 to 60 % on invested capital their dividend yield in most cases is not better than the dividend yields for banks like Zenith, GTBANK, Access,UBA and Fidelity. The same companies still depend on Nigerian premium banks for loans. Most state government in Nigeria still depend on Nigerian banks for loans. The Nigerian banks are directly or indirectly running the economy. There can never be a growing Nigerian economy without the premium banks.

emmanuelewumi: Looking at NGX in last 25 years, the real wealth creators are not the banking stocks with the exception of GTCO and Zenith Bank
I agree with you that banking stocks are cheap, but long term wealth creation is not just about cheapness but ability to continuously deliver a return on Invested capital of over 20% or the average inflation rate in the country and an earning growth that is above average From 2014 to 2025 in my dividend stocks portfolio;ACCESSCORP, Zenith Bank and UBA have never failed in paying me good dividends for every financial year. To me,this is wealth creation. And I have been investing like 80 to 90 percent of the paid dividends back to my dividend portfolio. I also have another portfolio for trading(aka portfolio reshuffling). This portfolio also give me a minimum of 5% every month. In this portfolio,I only buy and sell only 1 dividend stock at a time. In most cases the dividend stocks are banks. From the above, you can see I have been creating wealth for myself mainly through banking stocks! My question is: is there any state in Nigeria that you will not find Zenith Bank, Access Bank,UBA, GTBANK and First Bank? |
