aj8: My apologies if the phrase felt insulting. It was far from my intention sir. EPS is calculated from Earnings Divided by OS OS = 39,605,421,535.00 Profit from your attachment = 41,191,937,000 Earnings / OS = 41,191,937,000 / 39,605,421,535.00
= 1.04 for 3 months Annualized = 3months x 4 = 1.04 x4 = 4.17 approximately sir.
I pray and sincerely hope you have been educated.
Your apology is accepted even if you do not give one.
My apologies for having made you feel insulted. Again, it wasn’t my intention sir. From this annualized EPS of around 4 Naira,it can be deduced that FCMB has more value than Nestle,Presco,Okomu and Geregu. |

ojeysky: Why do you want to assume with incorrect info, unless a reference to validate the full year is what was provided, otherwise report shows that its H1 Even this N3.71 that I regarded as an annualized EPS for FCMB is still far better than those of the 4 companies I mentioned when compared as percentage of their stock prices. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by EDUECO(m): 9:45pm On Aug 14, 2025 |
ojeysky: Attached is the result please where did you get the annualized info? Also can you try not to be insulative, this thread is not just to talk, and declare but to validate, educate and learn I see the Jijo gang as a financial cult or if you like financial fraternity of this forum. The gang behave like the Nigerian version of 77(the black men) and 88(the blue men). They do everything within their power to defend their interest. So I am not surprised when they bash and antagonize me! |

elbangeez: Pls sir, how do we calculate intrinsic value of a stock? Intrinsic value is the real worth of a stock of a company and not market value quoted as daily market price of the company. The simplest method of calculating the intrinsic value is by dividend the equity of the company by the total outstanding shares. Total Intrinsic Value=Equity= Total Asset - Liability Intrinsic Value per Share = Equity ÷ Total outstanding shares There are other methods of calculating intrinsic value, but this method is one of the best.

aj8: Yes H1 is Half year Result but the EPS therein reflected is the Estimated FY ( annualized). Still expresses the performance of the company at H1 but not entirely for a 6 months period but for a year estimate…. Annualized.
Knowledge drives wisdom. Okay let's assume the Full Year EPS is N3.71 for 2025 financial year. This N3.71 is more than 25 percent of the current stock price of FCMB My question is can Geregu,Okomu,Presco and Nestle make up to N250,N260,N340 and N440 respectively as their full year EPS for 2025? From the above, you can see that FCMB has better intrinsic value and is more of a blue chip company than those other 4 companies that their market capitalization is more than 1 trillion Naira! |

ojeysky: I hope you factored broker charges....if not maybe 5%...still not bad though especially if you feel fcmb will dip soon. I am in the bus and won't be exiting anytime soon EPS of 3+ is not bad. Tried to buy more at 10.6 since yesterday but no luck....will try again. EPS of around 3+ Naira for half year and someone rebuked me for calling FCMB as a blue chip company. The 3+ Naira is about 25 percent of the current stock price. Someone should tell me if the half year EPS of Nestle, Okomu,Presco or even GEREGU is up to 25 percent of their current stock price? Many investors relegate the earning factor of any company when buying stocks. The future success of any company depends on its good or excellent earnings potential and not on its poor or fair earning potential. The intelligent investor must take cognizant of the intrinsic value/margin of safety when buying a company's stocks. A company that has consistently been paying good dividends is a company that possesses intrinsic value;and such a company has margin of safety.

Streetinvestor2: I beg to disagree that we will have general pull back from now to November. The sound stocks with good q3 results will continue to move north. The junks and dead businesses which q3 results will expose further will pull further back.....The bull will continue through out 2026 because of Tinubu election money. The market can do anything in 2027 from January till after election because of political uncertainty. The mega bull na 2026. Dividend paying stocks whose prices are below their intrinsic value will surely appreciate in prices. |
