Babygal2020: Could a kind boss here guide me in Nigerian stock market?
I'm just a hustling lady. Please help. I don't know which of the stocks to buy. Do you want to multiply your money like the monkey hunters? Or you want your investment to work for you just like in real estate? If you're after dividends and preservation of your invested capital; just buy any of the following: Zenith Bank GTBANK ACCESSCORP UBA Fidelity Bank. |

gmart: This is how you peddle cheap lies because you have ties to certain platforms. Trades that are executed on NGX with trade alerts sent by CSCS how is Bamboo playing you? The average cost computation is done based on the lifetime cost of any security in your portfolio. I found it very helpful and a lot of traders have even requested for it to be brought back (I attached screenshots I just pulled from Twitter)
How do you disparage a platform on a public forum based on false information? Bamboo today is the leading stock investment app (for local & foreign stocks) for retail investors in Nigeria, if you want to sleep well at night then I’d recommend you pick them. I’ve used the app for years trading US stocks and I’ve never had an issue. Does Bamboo App show real time trade for US stocks just like Morgan iTrade live trade? |

KarlTom: I think we're mixing this CGT up.
Scenario A: I have a portfolio size of ₦100m and it appreciates to ₦250m (due to SP increase & zero trading). Scenario B: I have a portfolio size of ₦100m and it appreciates to ₦250m (due to SP increase & aggressive trading).
IMO I think it's Scenario B that is being taxed rather than Scenario A. I'm open to more insight I also think the situation is little bit dicey. |

Streetinvestor2: The new law says if fully reinvested in the same financial yr.No CGT. If part is reinvest. The part not reinvest will be taxed based on profit on it For me na to dey reinvest and collect from dividend which is only 10% WHT as final tax I think this is fantastic! So continuous reinvestment is going to pay the trader in the long run; this is an indefinite compounding of your starting capital. |

megamart247: What if the 300m profits is reinvested in stocks will it be taxed ? If you account grew from 50 to 300 million Naira within a year, you have invariably made a profit of 250 million Naira. I believe the 75 million Naira tax due to the government will be debited against your trading account. . |

EDUECO: You started the year trading with 50 million Naira.
At the end of the year you turn your 50 million to 300 million Naira.
So,from the above ; your profit is around 250 million Naira.
30% of 250 million is 75 million Naira, then you will take 175 million.
The government will get 75 million Naira while you the monkey hunter(sorry trader) will get 175 million Naira .
I know the monkey hunters gang will not be happy with my analysis above
I see nothing wrong in paying 30% as capital gain tax to Nigeria; because without the Nigerian Stock Exchange, you wouldn't have been able to make such money. Someone in this hypothetical case is not a poor person in Nigeria. Some stock traders are even in a better position than this. |

I'm so happy with the 30 percent capital gain tax. It is going to be a welcomed development. Increase in taxation is very good for the economy although Nigerian politicians can never do away with their embezzlement mentality. |

No money made WITHIN MARKET RULE is "filthy lucre" (ill gotten). To say otherwise is de-marketing our Market. Is like you have some low quality stocks you bought around 2009 you want to offload? All these 'Guguru' Investors wannabes think they can gaslight me? They're always in the habit of casting aspersions on me. If you bought Oando at 7 Naira and it got to 60 Naira and you never sold. And Oando just like APC is never consistent and never to be trusted with respect to the management and earnings;and Oando's earnings and dividends would definitely not be consistent. How will you now get cash flow since dividends is not guaranteed? |
