Naija men don’t like taking care of themselves. This man used to be the heartthrob of every Gen X and Boomer female. See him today looking average due to lack of thorough grooming.
The daughter has a strong face. It happens with females who have handsome fathers. Masculine features don’t go well on women. Abeg, another pastor wedding. I can imagine how boring the union becomes because the man focuses more on God (and knacking his sheep) than learning ways to pleasure his wife. I don’t envy any of the parties. |

I hope the health battle was not malaria. Some of these yeyebrities can exaggerate the smallest of issues. I have to start running frequently. Press-ups and the like are not enough to control my blood sugar levels. I love food too much to fast, meanwhile low carb varieties of Nigerian meals are non-existent. If anyone wants to start a healthy lifestyle, you are already late. You should’ve started since JSS 3. alphonsoolajide: Award-winning Afrobeats singer Simi has opened up about the health and personal struggles she faced while working on her latest single, Where You Dey, featuring fellow singer Chike.
The singer revealed that although she had planned to release the song in 2025, health challenges forced her to delay the project, leaving her physically weak and emotionally drained during the creative process. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Sharing her experience via X (formerly Twitter), Simi explained that she was initially excited about the song after teasing it with a snippet but struggled to complete it on schedule due to illness.
“I really, really, really wanted to drop this song last year. When I first put out the snippet, I was so excited — but it was hard to finish it on time because everything was a blur,” she wrote.
According to the singer, she battled sickness, fatigue and nausea while recording the song, including during the filming of the snippet video.
“I was sick and weak and nauseous and tired and my body just wouldn’t do what I wanted it to. Even in the snippet video, I wasn’t feeling great. I was just trying my best,” she added.
Simi also praised Chike for his dedication and professionalism, saying his contribution to the song exceeded her expectations.
“I adore Chike’s voice and I knew it was him that had to be on the song with me. When I asked him to give me a verse, he was so ready to go. As soon as he came back into town, he came over to my studio the next day. I’ve got a lot of respect for him,” she said.
She disclosed that Chike was unaware of her health condition at the time, adding that watching the studio footage later surprised her. Struggles With Mixing and Mastering
Beyond recording, Simi revealed she also struggled with the technical side of the song, particularly mixing and mastering. Despite disliking the process, she eventually decided to master the track herself.
“When the song was done, I struggled to mix it. Even so, I decided to master it myself. I hate mastering, so I don’t know what I was thinking,” she wrote.
The singer admitted she was disappointed about missing her planned release timeline and not being able to promote the song as much as she wanted due to low energy.
“Everyone had fallen in love with the song and was asking me to put it out. I didn’t have the energy to make content. Given how much I love this song, I’m a little bummed I couldn’t give it the energy it deserves,” she said.
Despite the challenges, Simi urged fans to embrace the song with understanding, describing it as a project created with “a lot of love and resilience.”
She also used the moment to respond to critics who claim marriage slowed down her career, stating that Where You Dey is proof of her continued passion for music and her craft. |
Nairaland General › Re: Google Just Announced That The SAT Exam Can Now Be Practiced On Gemini by eepeepook: 11:20am On Jan 24 |
Good news. Not shocking. SAT has been a thing for a century. At this point, any kid should be able to practice it on their phones instead of using a web based AI assistant. Onetechnews: Google’s recent push into education feels intentional, and this step shows they’re not just experimenting anymore, they’re committing. By putting Gemini in a completely different position, Google is making test prep more accessible than ever. Any student who wants to write the SAT can now simply prompt Gemini with something like “I want to take a practice SAT test,” and instantly get access to free practice questions.
That alone is powerful.
Instead of searching endlessly for paid prep platforms, outdated PDFs, or random question banks, students now have a conversational, AI-powered tutor that can walk them through SAT-style questions in real time. This lowers the barrier for students who may not be able to afford expensive prep courses, leveling the playing field in a meaningful way.
According to Google, they’ve partnered with companies responsible for SAT-related content to vet the questions. This is important. It means the practice questions aren’t just AI-generated guesses, they’re closely aligned with actual SAT standards and structure. That credibility matters, especially for an exam as competitive and high-stakes as the SAT.
What makes this even more interesting is the flexibility Gemini offers. Students can practice at their own pace, focus on weak areas, ask follow-up questions, and even get explanations instantly. This turns SAT prep from a rigid, stressful process into something more interactive and personalized.
If Google continues in this direction, we could be looking at a future where standardized test prep is no longer locked behind paywalls. Gemini isn’t just answering questions, it’s reshaping how students prepare, learn, and build confidence before exam day.
This move puts Gemini in a strong position within the education space, and it’s clear Google is thinking long-term. For students, this is more than a feature update, it’s an opportunity. |

If Nigeria’s oil runs out in twenty years, these foreigners will focus on our cocoa, palm oil and groundnuts. Those items can’t be sustained like petroleum. They’ll dry up in fifteen years. Watch out how the country will devolve to the Stone Age. Once that takes place, the new race will be who can first japa for better opportunities. Your leaders will exit without a second thought, claiming “all man for himself. God never told me to help anybody.” Wealthy Nigerians will follow. All the countries we gave free access to our resources will close their borders specifically against Nigerians. It will be a blood bath back home as crime will be the norm and all the current rebel groups will fight for supremacy. DR Congo will be child’s play compared to what will happen here.
Thank God our petroleum will keep flowing for the next half of a millennium. At least five generations after me will have a country to call home. |

TV/Movies › Re: Why Almost All The BBN Housemates Fade After The Show? by eepeepook: 1:30pm On Jan 22 |
The show is like school. How many of our classmates became big name celebrities or politicians? You can’t expect everyone to be successful. I can name five who became a staple in the entertainment industry. Those who are millionaires from running their private ventures are hardly talked about (as things should be). Also, some come out of the show and realize living in silence is the better option. Akinpedia: Big Brother Naija. It's the biggest reality TV show in Africa, a massive platform that turns ordinary Nigerians into overnight celebrities. For three months, these housemates dominate our screens, our social media feeds, and our conversations. Millions vote for them, dedicate fan pages to them, and dream with them.
Then, the show ends. The winner takes the prize, the headlines celebrate, and everyone else slowly… fades.
Think about it. Out of the dozens of housemates we've seen since the show began, how many can you truly say have maintained a significant level of fame or built substantial careers solely from their BBN platform? A handful, maybe? For the vast majority, the spotlight dims, the fan pages go silent, and they return to relative obscurity.
Why does this happen? Is BBN a poisoned chalice for most? Let's explore some hard truths.
The "Borrowed" Shine: No Unique Value Proposition
Many housemates become famous simply for being in the house. They haven't necessarily showcased a unique talent, skill, or compelling brand beyond their participation. Once outside, the audience asks, "Okay, what's next?" If there's no immediate, clear answer – no music, no acting, no distinct business venture, no powerful personal brand – the interest wanes. Their fame was an extension of the show's fame, not their own intrinsic value.
The Illusion of Effortless Success
The BBN house offers a curated environment where all basic needs are met. Housemates live a life of relative luxury, engaging in tasks and games without the real-world hustle. This can create a false sense of how the industry works. Post-show, they face intense competition, rejection, financial demands, and the sheer grind of building a sustainable career. Many are simply unprepared for the harsh realities of the entertainment or business world.
The Lack of Strategic Post-Show Planning
For many, getting into BBN was the plan. What happens after is an afterthought. The truly successful ex-housemates often had a clear vision or a strong management team ready to hit the ground running. They monetize their fame quickly, launch products, sign strategic endorsements, or pivot into a niche. Others just ride the wave of initial popularity until it crashes.
The Saturated Market & Short Attention Spans
Every year, a new batch of fresh, eager faces enters the BBN house. This means a constant influx of new "celebrities" vying for the same endorsement deals, media attention, and fan loyalty. The public's attention span is notoriously short, and yesterday's star can quickly become today's forgotten housemate, especially with new seasons consistently introducing new darlings.
The "Character" vs. "Personality" Conundrum
Inside the house, some housemates play a role or highlight certain aspects of their personality that make for good TV. While entertaining, this "character" might not translate well to a sustainable personal brand outside. When the cameras are off, and they have to be their authentic selves, or present a more mature, business-oriented persona, fans who loved the in-house antics might lose interest.
The Hard Truth
Big Brother Naija is a phenomenal launchpad, but it is not a guarantee of lasting fame or success. It offers an incredible opportunity, but only those who are strategic, hardworking, talented, and adaptable manage to convert that temporary spotlight into a sustainable career. For the rest, it remains a fleeting, glorious memory.
What do you think? Which housemates, past or present, do you believe have truly broken this cycle and built something lasting? Share your thoughts! |
