CrimeRe: Police Shoots Man For Laughing by eewule(m): 3:01pm On Jan 06, 2011
The problem with Nigerian police began with the Neglect of the NPF by the Government.

Two solutions can be to make the police a state administered force instead of federal, and to immediately dis-arm all members of the force on patrol including check-point police. Not by taking away their guns, but by removing all bullets and either storing them in the vehicles they use for patrol or handing the bullets to the chief-officers in charge of each patrol team.

Hence although they can still fight criminals, their guns will not be armed and ready 24-7 and they will not be able to open fire at will, on innocent civilians without first consulting the team leader or rushing to the vehicle to find bullets. This will definitely discourage them.

and if this doesn't work. then completely disarmed them. cause at least over 70% of thier shooting is at civilians not criminals, so whats the use of the gun they carry.

Buy enough ear plugs as well because all your neighbors have noisy gen sets to keep you awake at night - as if the mosquitos were not doing a good job already. Its the accepted norm over there. Govt has failed so we keep patching up here and there.

No NEPA - get a noisy gen
Mosquito - get repellant and nets
Bad roads - dont even voice it. you are a traitor that hates your country
Bribery and corruption nko - shut up. this one na chop I chop economy

Pathetic!
grin ;DYour comments about mosquito are quite funny.

Nevertheless, we all have our reasons for doing what we do, but in my opinion it is a bit shamefull to take pride in another mans property (white mans world) and abandon yours because its a wreck. As much as I have stable access to this foreign land, I intend to return home permanently soon and contribute to help it grow.
PoliticsRe: Poll - Jonathan's Approval Rating by eewule(m): 1:16pm On Dec 07, 2010
Jonathan is loosing the plot. I believed he had potential in the beginning but i cant see much in him now. If he really wants to win the coming election then he must up-his-game, by implementing the works he has previously promised or make moves towards doing so.  Not by borrowing from the foreign world and increasing our debts, or spending excessive billions in Nigerias 50th independence, or promising the nollywood industry millions of dollars (in the name of improvements) in order to get their support when the election time comes. He should focus on the ordinary Nigerians who will really determine if he goes or stays in 2011.

Properties2011 Elections, Is The Pdp North, Using The South For Its Goals ? by eewule(op): 3:01pm On Dec 06, 2010
These northerners are cleverly taking advantage of the division in the south. They made effort to choose a consensus candidate that they are lifting forward (although not accepted by all the north), but the southerners who already have a person on the seat (GEJ) are foolishly allow the north to use them (by promising to hand-over to the south after 4 years) to accomplish its goal : to remove one of their own (GEJ) from power and replace with a northerner. I am from Rivers but am ashamed to admit that our southern elites (especially south east) are being foolish  , who can prove me wrong?

I am one of those looking to return home someday soon. Been in the Uk for just over 10years, Got a British kpale in naija before coming, now with a decent IT job in travel firm in London etc, but nothing beats going home to Naija, Been visiting home once every year or two since 2004 and everytime i'm due to leave Home back to the Uk, I feel a bit of reluctance. Now decided will be returning home permanently as soon as i complete a decent house in my beloved PH.

RomanceRe: Why African Marriages Can't Survive In The West by eewule(m): 1:53pm On Dec 02, 2010
furacao:
With regards to helping out in the kitchen or with the children, one must realise that the circumstances in Africa (that dictated that women alone "owned" the kitchen and were practically solely responsible for raising the children) are different from those in the West. Women in that description in Africa who did such did not go to work, leaving the house at 7am and returning home at 9pm. In the West, and even in Africa now, such is the case. Women work long hours and contribute to the home financially.
I agree with you on that,  Thats how it all started. Men usually go to work 9 - 5, as bread-winners (bringing money home), and women stay at home and take care of the house and kids.  This is a fair balance (in my opinion) but these days, the changes in liberty and freedom of choice has affected this balance as women now go to work and get paid too. Which makes it unfair for them to still handle all the work at home, but we guys are not giving-in as we got use to the old ways.   Guess this is the reason house-girl/boys or house help is the new standard across Nigeria
RomanceRe: Why African Marriages Can't Survive In The West by eewule(m): 1:27pm On Dec 02, 2010
The original posters comments/story is a little incorrect because there are many african homes in the west, where the couple have not fully opened-up or absorbed the western thinking or lifestyle. The couple may maintain their African upbringing, believes, culture and style of living. example, The wife's main friends could be other african women of similar culture, the family may mingles with other families in the west but of African origin who they've known from back home and in general tend to keep everything the same as when the were at home, also attending an african-run pentecostal church in their neigbourhood where the pastor is from the same country (all this, while living in the west). Hence their lifestyle and african ethics are not influenced or affected by western laws or way of life. This is very common especially when the couple recently migrated aboard.

The situation the poster is describing I believe, happens when the African couple have lived here for many years or all their life.
PoliticsRe: Atiku Promises To Reduce Company Income Tax To 10%, by eewule(m): 1:10pm On Dec 02, 2010
I doubt that he and his team of northern-consensus-criminals intend to actualise any of the thing he has said. This is likely a well planned strategy to become the elected candidate in 2011. , Atiku is very desperate indeed.  He is using the tactic:  'Let the dog smell the bone and he will make you master'
PoliticsRe: Did Anyone See Sanusi & Aganga On Tv Answering Furious Senators? by eewule(m): 12:38pm On Dec 02, 2010
People keep making all sorts of Suggestions on how to curb the pay of these useless senators - It wont work because the fools will use all their influence to make sure that any effort to reduce or control their pay-packet is in vain. Nigeria is stock in this situation.  , The thiefs get richer while the poor get poorer,   God help us

PoliticsRe: Atiku "Selected" As Northern Consensus Candidate by eewule(m): 12:15pm On Nov 23, 2010
I read online yesterday,    that Gusau and Saraki will be given vise president and chief of staff and they are yet to conclude on Babangida's future role.  This being the un-announced resolution of the consensus committee to make the other candidates happy to accept Atiku and put their forces behind him in 2011.  the link has now been removed, (found through google)

This may explain why the other candidates are keeping quiet about the decision so far, This unWise men  know if this is announced, people will flood to the jonathan camp instead.  GOD HELP NIGERIA

I am a bit shocked at the way those guys in the video quietly lay down without attempting to run (the ones without crutches) or beg for their lifes, or anything at all. It is unusual, those guys have got to be guilty of something. - Dont get me wrong, its absolutely evil of the naija police what they did - but anybody will attempt to defend their dear life somehow. even after hearing the 1st and 2nd bullets fired, the others just lay quietly waiting their turn. common man, think of it, these guys are not so innocent.

There is a line from a track by the Nigerian music artist 'Sound Sultan' which sums it up for me:  It says "I prefer to live like a lion in the jungle, than to exist as a dog in the city"

To all those western-loving posters on this thread, Do you disagree with above comment.

I don't regret coming to Uk (9yrs so far) But i regret that i have to remain here to accomplish my goals.
But as soon as i procure a comfortable home for myself (which is in-progress in Port Harcourt city), I will be leaving this land and returning home. cause THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME, no matter how safe and convenient the western world becomes, it cannot beat being in my home country.

We are lucky to have these 2 guys campaigning, gives nigeria a chance.
Imagine if all we had were the other candidates.
PoliticsRe: Sir Alan Sugar Under Fire Over 'NIGERIA Insult' - BBC call Dr.Tafida 'a Person ' by eewule(m): 4:15pm On Oct 29, 2010
Nigeria has given itself a bad name through money laundering and similar financial crimes, im not suprised by lord Sugars comment. It is what it is.  What surprises me is that the country is rated 44th or so, amongst world most corrupt countries, yet no other country is mentioned when people stereotyping about internet bank frauds - credit card frauds etc.
Question is - how come this country is number 1 in money related thieving crimes internationally, but remains 44th in world corruption list ?? undecided

hackney:
Nigeria is definitely top 5 whether we like it or not.
Even correlating statistical info from naija will be riddled with corruption.

Only bangladesh topped naija in corruption once and for just a fleeting moment and
then naija took it back the next year.
Ever since naija has been the most corrupt.

What countries are truly more corrupt than the naija govt? ?
I absolutely agree, Although on the outside i am proud to see Naija at number 43 instead of the worst country, in truth - we are one of the top 5 most corrupt nations on earth when you consider the acts of our leaders in the recent years. Where else do govt officials join with foreigners to steal from there own country into foreign bank accounts - money that they will never use in 3 lifetimes huh the ICPC should please tell me, ?

PoliticsRe: Bbc2 To Air Law & Disorder In Lagos Sun, 10 Oct 2010, 21:00 (pic) by eewule(m): 4:53pm On Oct 07, 2010
Inspite of how badly they view Nigeria(n's) in the international community, we remain the 43rd worst / corrupt country in the world behind countries like Russia etc.

see here : http://www.transparency.org/policy_research/surveys_indices/cpi/2009/cpi_2009_table (Global Corruption Index)

We are not even within the top 10 most corrupt nations. So there are many other places to make more interesting documentary for their English viewers.
PoliticsRe: Poll - Jonathan's Approval Rating by eewule(m): 2:09pm On Oct 07, 2010
wakies:
When you read the post of a notherner, you can easily find bias in their write up. For me, GEJ is the best thing to happen to Nigeria in a long while. His political uplift has brought hope for the voiceless. Years back i used to think that leadership in Nigeria was meant for, Yorubas, Hausa and Igbos but today GEJ emergence has given light to the Minorities in Nigeria. Lets stop the discrimination and stop using concepts like "MAJORITY and MINORITY" to destroy our country. Even if GEJ brings down heaven to earth, we will still have people who will talk. GEJ is the best we can offer now and for those who say they have lost confidence in him should eat their vote and stop telling us because for every ten of them, there are hundreds who wil still vote him. I'm very sure you wil regret not casting your vote when he emerges in 2011.
I agree, We Nigerians need to realize that as things stand right-now, there are hadly any better choices than GEJ. He is not as bad as those northern crooks like Atiku who's sole purpose is to retain Nigeria the way it has been over the years : chop-i-chop. Jonathan is introduced a level of equality amongst Nigerian and shows true interest in what his people are syaing, How many Previous rulers in Nigeria have ever initiated a medium by which they can be reached by the average Nigerian - Jonathan on his own, opened a facebook page (even if he may not moderate it himself) It may seem an ordinary thing but do you think IBB ATIKU or GUSAU would have done something like this, Imagine Obasangu with a facebook page where Nigerians can read his real opinions about daily govt events directly (in ya dreams)

The usual N igerian president will not think that way. Not when thay can be enjoying ultimate power in Asu rock, issueing orders to the ministers and enjoying big-man-life at occasions and events in there honour across the states.

JONATHAN IS DIFFERENT - HE MAY NOT BE FAST ACTING OR THE BEST POTENTIAL LEADER, BUT 8 YEARS WITH HIM PROMISES MUCH BETTER THAN WITH THE OTHER POTENTIALS FROM THE NORTH.
