The issue is that many men (at least in Africa) are not taught to do any other thing in the family apart from providing money for the family's upkeep.The woman will endure most of her husband's short comings as long as her children are  being taken care of financially. but once he is not able to do that anymore, she does not see the reason to continue to take all the 'poo' because the man becomes useless to her.

A way out is for men to seize to be mere meal tickets, they should get involved in some of the activities in the home and be supportive to their spouses so that the woman sees you as a backbone that she cannot do without with or without a pay check!

So you mean that the man should be both: the bread winner and a helper in the house ? and what does the lady do ? sit on her fat ass and enjoy?
, I think guys should make sure we marry lady's that can contribute.

Based on my observation the majority of males chose marriage over money and the females chose money over marriage. What does it says?
Guess its right when they say the majority of the females on earth are materialistic and born gold diggers. . . .

The reason (i believe) why women/ladies prefer money before marriage is to be sure that they will not suffer after they start a future with a man. a lot of naija ladies today come from average/poor families. and the only way to ensure that there suffering does not continue is to make sure their spouse is living comfortably. even when they are not gold-diggers and have a working life of their own, promises of future wealth from any man does not gaurantee that there will be future wealth after marriage. the only way to be sure is to see it before getting married.

They should simply keep there quarrel to the northern part of the country and there shall be no problem,
I guess they are aware of our newly-redundant militants in the south, who are
seeking for new activities as the amnesty has taken away their livelihood.

I wonder what is the real percentage of ladies that are doing this 'runs business' in naija universities'

Heres the answer to the riddle of this debate - It all depends on the individuals circumstances.
Some may have a home built in nigeria others may have a good job or whole family in the Uk.
Hence we will all see things differently, and have different opinions as answer to the question - Not really because of the conditions in these countries, as there are people in nigeria (not involved in Crime, oil or politics) who are doing absolutely well and living happy lives with there family,  -i have lots of relatives in this category- and there are people in the Uk (white and black) who have full university degrees, good jobs but are still finding it hard to balance financially. Hence the whole idea of stability in the Uk and chaos in Nigeria is not always the case. IT DEPENDS ON YOU.

But if moving, the right approach will be to take your time - especially where a family with kids is involved.
I suggest you first spend about 3 months or so in Nigeria and set the foundations of live for your family before a full transfer.
For me, there is no place like home, and there will never be.

Character is most important - rich folks in nigeria and abroad who have money and good looks still get divorce because of personality issues - from drunkard woman beater to womaniser and cheating spouses, the list is endless. If you think of it - over time good looks can disappear and rich people do go broke, but character stays the same. Never-the-less in todays world its understandable why anyone will list 'money' as their first priority.

The AS and SS are going through untold emotional trauma, i ve had by fair share of it, Some times u have to stick to a relationship with no care and love cos he is AA or have some good short rlships that could have amounted to true love cos they are AS, am a good example. Some times i fear if we the AS have the chance to love or we might just get married for the sake of healthy children and forget abt been madly in love. Some late marriages are due to this and the AS pple keep ending off rlships if they rnt so lucky to meet an AA , while the AA get married to who ever, i envy them, I do. That leaveS AS pple unmarried and of course THEY CAN Reproduce cos no one wants and SS child.

It is a pain been a carrier and more excruciating pain being a sickler.

DONT ENVY THE AA - THERE IS A REASON TO EVERYTHING - I AM AN AS MYSELF AND THROUGH RESEARCH I HAVE LEARNT THAT AS HAVE FAR MORE RESISTANCE TO THE MALARIA PARASITE THAN AA - CAUSED BY SHORTER LIFESPAN OF RED BLOOD CELLS IN AS's. TESTS CARRIED OUT INDICATE THAT WHILE AN AA CAN DIE FROM MALARIA ATTACKS AS's HAVE A MUCH HIGHER CHANCE OF SURVIVAL.

People keep saying here DO NOT MARRY AS/AS for this and that reason, Its really down to the individual to decide.

I think the solution to AS/AS marriage is to simply decide not to have kids, if the love is so powerful and true, then its not compulsory that you will breakup the relationship because of your genotype, Its simply a matter of sacrifice (if you really feeling the passion so badly)

either you sacrifice having children > to stay with your lover (and maybe adopt kids), or sacrifice your sweet love > to have children with somebody else. But if the love is so powerful then go ahead knowing that it will be a childless marriage.

To think that I was actually considering arik when flying home to PH (as a matter of fact, am about to book a ticket for august this year) but after reading this, I dont care about truth or lie - life is too precious - i will once again be looking to air france / virgin atlantic etc,    Quite a shame, as i was feeling a bit proud to be flying an airline from my own countries for once.

Have recently been investigating Arik , wondering are they really as good as they appear to be: new international routes - no crash since operations -  new fleet of planes - etc.  Guess i wont wonder anymore - thanks poster.

It depends on what you are after - there is programing for web (php) (javascript) (java) etc,  there is programming for applications development (c++) etc.

Also, there may be many programmers on Nairaland but only few of them actually live in Nigeria, so i think its no big deal.

I know a couple where the lady experienced exactly the same thing in London. They've been together for about 5 years now and the guy acts far more differently, they even added to their household - a newborn baby girl.

I suggest: You get a job for now and contribute, then leave the rest to time

All we need is LIGHT

Light                            -  will make it cheaper to run/sustain busineses
sustained businesses -  will help provide more jobs across the country (more tax payers & revenue for govt to build infrastructure)
more jobs                    - will help alleviate poverty

So STABLE POWER = MORE JOBS + BETTER INFRASTRUCTURE + REDUCED POVERTY + REDUCED CRIME
TOTAL = BETTER NIGERIA - with a new status archievable within 5 yrs of stable power

But government action = 0

What I would have like to know is: Does the airline allocate flight destinations to their pilots (and allocated him for Lagos flight) or did he pick which country/flight he would like to crash 

I will gladly vote for fashola in 2015 if only he runs. Imagine, while other governors (not satisfied winning election) are campaigning to lead the govornors forum, Fashola is busy inspecting new trains for he's people welfare. A wealthy businessman from my village in Rivers in 2009 donated 5million to help build the local church but i was surprised to hear that the church leaders declined the money. When i enquired about how they are building the new church then?  , I was told by a member that they are relying on, and using church members who are  laymen - bricklayers and building contractors - who actually come to site everyday, working together to build the new church.   and today the 500 seater church is completed for the community in ikwerre land  , under normal circumstances in Nigeria a pastor would have completed his personal 4 bedrrom pad with that money

The more of these 3 things you have - the better your chances:
Money - Good looks - Nice personality.

Without these, its just a matter of luck, as different women have different priorities with men.
But to appeal to a larger group of women, u gonna need at least 2 of these 3 above.

I am a patriotic Nigerian, But only seen that comment as a commercial to draw people to visit South Africa and nothing else. If it was said in a different program or a debate, then it will mean more. IT IS A COMMERCIAL WITH A PURPOSE - TO CAPTURE NIGERIANS TO SOUTH AFRICA, NOT NECESSARILY TO PISS-OFF NIGERIANS.

On the other hand, About south africa's grace and progress so far, as africas most advanced, its all possible because of the white population in the country. The white race are more progressive and less selfish and think of their country. The presence of white citizens in siouth africa is what has kept it different from the rest of the continent. Remove the white poeple in south africa, and you will have another Malawi or congo in its place. Thats the truth

I really enjoy listening to his speeches as i cant stop laughing - the guy is entertaining though. Its not just the grammar that makes him notable, but the force and power in his pronounciation. I wonder how he's re-ellection efforts are doing ?
