NigeriaKitchen: Nigeria! Why is it that only past politicians from Niger Delta are always victimized after they leave office in Nigeria, why why why
1. James Ibori 2. Diepreye Alamieyeseigha 3. Diezani Alison Madueke 4. Dame Patience Jonathan 5. Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo)
We all as citizens of Nigeria need to do more to unite this country if we must be one united, developed nation. We mustn't allow UK, US, et al to always bring distress and disunity in our nation only to flee to their land when trouble ensues.....only to be reporting us in their bias media platforms as war torn country whereas they contributed in making our country war torn
We have more corrupt past political leaders like:
1. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo - the man that bastardized political looting in Nigeria who deserves to be in maximum security prison 2. Bola Ahmed Tinubu 3. Atiku Abubakar 4. Theodore Orji 5. Ikedi Ohakim 6. Theophilus Danjuma 7. Abacha family 8. Turai Yaradua (that milked Nigeria dry after her husband's death) 9. Adams Oshiomhole 10. El Rufai
Etc, etc, etc
Yet these corrupt politicians walk freely but just the few Niger Deltans that occupied top political posts in Nigeria, we Nigerians want to join effort with UK/US to kill them and still live in peace
Abacha's loot is being re-looted like you said simply because he died...if he was alive, nothing would have happened!
Dasuki you mentioned is being victimized or paid back for his role in 1983, don't be fooled!
I am not in support of corruption, in fact, I am for total war against corruption but war against corruption shouldn't be selective, it should be holistic....no corrupt past or present politician should be spared! All of them who occupied one political post in Nigeria from 1999 - 2016 should face the same probe without cover.
We can do it...and you will see all Nigerians join effort with government to even uncover their loots, but a selective war against corruption will only breed hate and further pushes our country to civil unrest and militancy. I appreciate ur comment but you must understand that every name you mention above about Niger delta. They all guilty of alleged cases and corruption against them......We don't need to pretend or cover our yash base that den be our brothers Nd sisters... Why den com run to oversea after their tenure..its obvious they have skeleton on their cupboard. Dasuki case is clear case of corruption even GEJ was surprise about it. Can't u see that okonje iweala has no case to ans cos she was so smart to the level sh knew that dis people I'm working with are badoo of looting national treasury......... |

LoveMachine: https://www.thecable.ng/fashola-work-no-one-talking
BY MODESTUS UMENZEKWE
I have in the last few months been travelling to my hometown of Achina in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State at a high frequency for reasons which need not be stated here. I have been going by road because the road is today much better and safer than, say, this time last year. Another reason I travel by road is to have a firsthand experience with a view to reporting to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who always solicits for such frank reports with a view to taking appropriate action.
Whereas the Onitsha-Asaba-Benin-Ore sections of the Lagos to Onitsha Highway have in the last few years been generally good, the Lagos-Shagamu-Ore sections are in a mess. One is glad to report that tremendous reconstruction work is currently taking place in the worst of all the failed sections. Reynold Construction Company (RCC) has divided the Lagos-Sagamu-Ore sections into four parts and is working on them simultaneously in a rather frenetic manner, even in the rains. In a fashion reminiscent of the mass attack principle, RCC is reconstructing what remains of the Ondo State section of the highway, the Ijebu Ode part, the Shagamu end as well as the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. When I was driving from Anambra State to Lagos two days ago, I had to stop briefly at the Ijebu Ode site because what is going on there looks more like new construction rather than rehabilitation. Rev Sister Christy Okonkwo, an impressed Catholic nun who is from Nnewi in Anambra State and works with the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Congregation at Epe in Lagos State, remarked after watching the massive deployment of equipment, machines and human resources: “There is still hope for Nigeria”.
In the past, such massive reconstruction which always resulted in the closure of at least one side of the highway had invariably led to traffic gridlock. Reverend Sister Christy narrated how she and her colleagues spent three hours on one spot while going for the funeral of a colleague’s relative. Like the rest of her colleagues, she consequently developed a phobia for travelling by road to the Southeast and South-south from Lagos. But this time traffic is directed professionally not just by the RCC workers and Federal Road Safety Corps officials but also by teams of police and army personnel whose presence injects discipline and order in the heads of commercial motorists, especially those of minibuses whose irresponsible driving exacerbates traffic gridlock. What is more, the conspicuous presence of soldiers in particular has driven away armed robbers and kidnappers from the highway. Capitalizing on the failed portions which naturally forced motorists to stop, kidnappers on one occasion shot an Igbo priest with the Warri Catholic Diocese in the hand and took away a young boy with him and on another occasion took away nuns of the St Louis Congregation in Ondo State who were travelling on a bus and hid them in a thick forest for a whole 10 days. Today all this criminal nonsense on the Lagos-Onitsha Highway is history.
Lest I forget, while driving through Benin, we noticed there were two awfully failed sections of this extraordinarily busy highway. One is directly opposite the NIPCO filling station on the Benin-Agbor section of the road while the other on the Benin Bypass. Mr Fashola was contacted on his personal phone, and he quickly began to ask questions about the exact locations and extent of the failed portions. It was evident that the officials of the Federal Ministry of Works and the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) had yet to report the state of the road to him. When he was satisfied with details of the failed portions, he promised to immediately get in touch with the contractor to assess the rehabilitation and revert to him. Talk of responsive leadership. Talk of working with passion and commitment.
One thing about Fashola is that he executes every assignment as though his life depended on it. He is, to a considerable extent, the face of what the Catholic Church has in recent decades popularized as the common good. He is also a considerable representation of the concept of servant leadership. A few weeks ago when it was brought to his knowledge that the Asaba end of the Lagos-Onitsha Expressway had collapsed, he immediately directed Julius Berger which was working on another project in the neighbourhood to move to the site of the failed part. Work is going on there right now. The rainy season has always been cited by various state governments and the Federal Ministry of Works as the main justification for suspending road construction or rehabilitation by this time of the year, but this explanation cuts no ice with Fashola who, as we have seen right from his days as the Lagos State governor, works all year round.
One has not in the last few months been travelling to other parts of the country, but one understands that road reconstruction is taking place all over the federation everywhere there is a provision in the budget for it. Even the most awfully failed part of the Okija-Ihiala-Uli-Egbu-Oguta-Ahoada linking Anambra, Imo and Rivers states which is not in the captured in this year’s budget is being rehabilitated because it is considered a national emergency.
It has to be noted that RCC, Julius Berger and Integrated Services Ltd are among several companies which moved to sites before the release of the first quarter of this year’s budget. They went to work without the payment of mobilization fees in these economically hard times because of their trust in the integrity of the minister. As management experts have long noted, integrity or character is a most invaluable asset in business transactions whether in the private or public sector. In other words, as more releases are made, both the scope and intensity of road work by the Federal Government will escalate.
Fashola assumed duties as the Minister of Power, Works and Housing only last November, that is, less than a year now. Before he could settle in office, take stock of things, make his own projections and then mobilise funds, critics had gone to town, with some wondering if he could run this enlarged ministry successfully. If Fashola could excell as the Lagos State governor in a way which earned him great praise and awards from the greatest global media and think tanks, he should be expected to continue on the trajectory of high service delivery. Now that work is going on even in the rainy season on federal roads, why have even the media been shy to report it? Well, if the media fail to report these developments, frequent road users like us who feel and experience the massive work daily cannot deny the evidence of our eyes.
God bless Nigeria.

So who is Tinubu, who is Rotimi and who is Abraham? But the Anu 'mpama from Daura came and removed everything in the name of 'new sheriff in-town', and people were busy hailing him.

The North is doing everything to integrate and accommodate the Easterners directly or indirectly into this government while the Southwest is so fiercely angry at such plan and will openly show their displeasure against Southeast interests without recourse to equity and justice.
This is the same thing that happened after the war where the West did everything to scuttle and hinder the rehabilitation and reconstruction of devastated Eastern Nigeria.
The problem between the West and the East is not religious nor socio-cultural rather political and economic competition hence the quagmire.
There is an unhealthy competition which has no end in sight. We can only give and take if the gap must be bridged. martyns303: My Brother don't say what u don't know.
Let me start by saying that I have no confidence in any Nigerian political office holder, and that is why I don't own a voters card and I have never voted.
That been said, I had a very rare opportunity of talking one on one with a major player in this country and it was an eye opener, Nigerians were told that oil marketers are holding the country to a ransom and nobody believed, weeks later we are on a long queue trying to buy fuel, Buhari has said he doesn't know what fuel subsidy is, he his about to find out.
The Jonathan administration has been labeled very corrupt and wastage in excess, has anyone ever wondered where is the money going? A huge junk is spent on oil subsidy to prevent long queues has we have it now, when he tried to remove subsidy because of the amount of money put into it, Nigerians cried foul. A lot of things are falling apart and the government had to keep pumping in money to hold things together.
Now that the man is leaving and is taking his hands off things, Nigerians can now see how everything has come crumbling, yes he his still the president till 29th, but by that time how much more Billion dollars would have been used to maintain marketers? Then he would have been accused of last minute looting.
Nigeria is a very complex society, I am patiently waiting for what the next administration has to offer. U claimed all politicians are the same but u try defend Jonathan. You need ask ursef some quest and probably u can ans ursef. When was subsidy and which govt created it? Is marketers are powerful than govt of nigeria?...who are those marketers? let's me give u one insight abt it. The capital oil and gas chairman was beneficial of subsidy and he was the Top officer of TAN which champion the campaign of Mr Jonathan. House to house campaign of 2011 most of them are so call marketer we ar talking abt. Pls. What should be benefits right now is how our country can be better under buhari. Flets: Nigerians have started reaping the fruit of their decision. When Nigerians were being fed propaganda from the stables of APC and without supporting the then govt........ they forgot that Nigeria is a wrongly structured country.
If only Nigerians stood behind GEJ on terrorism and against these oil marketers. ... it would have been a different story today.
Unfortunately the Nigerdelta is keen on reciprocating the same unsupportive gesture to Buhari like the north did to GEJ.
Gas pipelines have been exploding in the ND and power generation has dropped from 4000+MW to 1300MW..... who suffers the scarcity?
Just for fall in crude prices, salaries cannot be paid. If the crude pipelines start exploding. .. then shall the reality hit Nigerians.
Because of the APC noise on the incoming government, oil marketers have refused import of products for fear of uncertainty by incoming govt....... who suffers the scarcity?
Investors have withdrawn their capital for fear of uncertainty in the incoming govt and driven by the APC noise post election further driving up exchange rates..... guess who suffers increase in price of goods?
Heating up the polity like APC does not help either Nigerians nor the incoming govt. The creek is warming up...... thanks to the noise from the incoming government.
As a matter of urgency, APC must stop the noise and Buhari desperately needs to stop acting like he's bringing a war to the outgoing govt.
Unfortunately the future looks bleak but Nigerians were warned anyway. Only regional system of government can save Nigeria otherwise watch Nigeria crumble before our very eyes. E be like say u dey slip and nt thinking right. How can u blame buhari or Nigerians for clueless Govt of Jonathan....ar u sure ure Nigeria? Pls let's join hand together and mak our country great. If not, tis businness savvy to start a scarcity and sell your product at quadruple the normal rate so as to get back your capital and profit before the new government settles down. Politics › Re: INEC Chairman ,jega Has Already Drafted His Resignation Letter by egbetokuns(m): 8:52pm On Feb 09, 2015 |
God Wish is superior over any man. God will surely intervene and mak us to think about others. Baba deliver us frm dis Govt nd let ur wish be done. U will surely hear over voice come March 2015. I shall celeb ur holy name cos people choice will surely emerge. No amt of GEJ plan against us olokfor: Information available to 247ureports.com obtained from sources within the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] indicates that the days of the INEC chairman may be numbered at the seat of Chair of the INEC. A close source to the INEC Chairman reveals that the Chairman has already drafted his resignation letter – in wait for the “right moment”.
According to the available information, the embattled INEC Chairman had opted to resign several times before the 2015 election following unflattering practices attributed to his person and office. The latest round of accusation against the INEC Chairman comes amid calls for his resignation over broad allegations of bias from groups across the country. Many of the groups alleged that Prof Jega’s actions had showed his bias against the southen regions of Nigerian and against political parties who are not in-line with the All Progressive Congress [APC].
One of the groups who spoke to 247ureports.com indicate that the INEC Chairman had aided the merger process of the APC in a fashion that went beyond the duties of an INEC chairman. “Prof Jega was holding closed door meetings with members of the would-be APC on how to properly apply for the merger of the three parties in a legal manner” said the leader who went on to add that Prof Jega was “in fact assisting them to collect the necessary items” they needed to complete the application process. “He was acting as an associate of the party”.
The security report on Prof Jega prior to his becoming the INEC chairman – which was leaked out of the State Security Service [SSS] offices indicating that Prof Jega may have not been an upright operator as thought – has caused many within the INEC to take a closer look at the chairman. According to the report by the SSS, it was gathered that while Prof Jega served as the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, he engaged in contract fraud and other related financial crimes.
Particularly, it was gathered that many of the awards of contracts for infrastructural development within the university campus was awarded to companies owned by Prof. Jega. The companies were operated as fronts by many of Jega’s extended family members and friends.
The sharp practices contained in the report was brought to the attention of the President by the agents of the SSS. President Jonathan was not pleased with the contents of the security report. But it took the intervention of the Principal Secretary to the Presidency, Hassan Tukur who impressed on President Jonathan that the addition of Prof Jega would be an added bonus to the integrity of the INEC. The President heeded to the plea of Hassan Tukur – and announced the appointment of Prof Jega as the new INEC chairman. But Jega’s announcement as the new INEC chairman came with its bit of drawbacks for the President. This is as the INEC Chairman remained at an arms length away from the President.
The INEC Chairman, unlike he other INEC chairmen that came before him, developed a cold relationship with the President. According to sources, Prof. Jega would only brief the President on the progress reports and/or status reports on a biweekly basis – and nothing more.
“He did not consult the President on any matters – neither did he attempt to develop a cordial relationship with the president. Prof Jega’s demeanor towards the President, according to sources, concerned some of the handlers of the Presidency who saw Jega’s attitude as suspicious and unhealthy for the institution of the INEC. When the President was alerted on the possible suspicious demeanor of the INEC Chairman, the President was quick to refer them to Hassan Tukur’s assurance that Prof. Jega was not a worry. However with the built up the 2015 presidential elections, Prof Jega’s attitude began to lose its shell – and began to show its true intentions. It gradually started to become clearer to the presidency that Prof. Jega may have been working with the opposition party in seeking to return power to the core north.
The exercise to selectively increase the number of polling units in the northern region of the country raised eyebrows – as to the reasons behind the abrupt decision by the INEC chairman. The fast actions of National commissioners from the southern regions of the country halted the INEC Chairman from proceeding to implement his desired to populate the northern part of the country with the larger majority of the polling units. It took the arm twisting of the INEC Chairman to back-down from the decision. When Prof Jega’s effort to populate the north with polling units failed, he devised a plan to use the ‘Permanent Voters Card [PVC] to create the needed imbalance in the north/south polity. Anchoring his plan on the rule that all voters must have a PVC before being allowed to vote, the INEC Chairman and some of his national chairmen devised a plan to give the northern part of he country an overwhelming advantage in the distribution of the said PVCs.
The PVC were effectively distributed through the Imams and other community leaders in select states of the core north where the APC supporters are known to concentrate. While in the southern regions of country, the PVCs were dumped at the respective INEC offices at the local government areas – for the owners to come and collect. For this reason, the collection percentage of the PVCs in the northern region became much more higher than those in the southern region. It exposed what appears a structured disparity. Mr. President, according to presidential sources, is not happy with Prof. Jega as a result.
“Arrangements are on the offing to begin the removal process for the INEC chairman” says the source who also emphasized that the INEC chairman is also aware of the process – and has decided to hang-on to raise some ‘dust’ before existing the INEC offices. “The Prof knows that he is going”. But it remains to be seen if the President would follow through on his stated intent to remove the INEC chairman and to replace him with a Professor from the South west region.
The brother to the governor of Ondo state – has been touted as a possible replacement for Prof Jega. When 247ureports.com reached out to the INEC office though the spokesman, Kayode Idowu, he brushed aside Prof. Jega’s resignation as mere rumor. He then added that Prof. Jega remains the INEC Chairman. “Jega will conduct this election” he added.
