Politics › Re: Did Obama Win The Election Based On Merit Or Because He Is Black?? by egift(m): 9:24am On Nov 13, 2012
Anyone that think the election was won because of colour is playing an Ostrich.

Some of the reason Obama won re-election (there is more):
1. Unlike 2008, he now had completed results to present to the electorate (Bin Laden dead, economy recovering, many great bill/laws/reforms, healthcare reform, etc)
2. Many programmes supporting the minorities and empowering women (equal work = equal pay, healthcare, etc)
3. Programmes for the middle class, poor and student loans.
4. His campaign fine-tunned their tool (mailing list, web, social media, etc)
5. His campaign putting in good amount of money to define Romney as someone that can not be trusted before Mitt had the chance to do.
6. The GOP selected the worst candidate. Although others were not that better, but the Republican leadership backing Romney was "someone able to beat Obama" and not someone their base even wanted.
7. Romney was everything to everyone. In fact he at some points stood against policies and view he supported - and that fitted perfectly into the definition of the Obama Team on Romney.

Being a Nigerian I did vote, but in this 2012 election, Obama was better than Romney. And I look forward to 2016 when Hillary will step in as the First Female President on USA!
Politics › Re: What Will Four More Years Of Barack Obama Mean For Africa? by egift(m): 6:10pm On Nov 12, 2012
I hope the emergence of Obama, both his first and second, term will:

1. Inspire quality individuals to get involved in leadership positions.
2. That our elections will be more transparent and the will of the people will count.
3. That the common sense approach to foreign policy will help strengthen global peace.

Politics › Is It Good To Re-electing Politicians For Second Term? by egift(op): 6:07am On Oct 27, 2012
Many times I see some of our politicians do very well in their first tenure in office (at least in average), but once they are re-elected for a second tenure the become very relaxed, weak and unproductive.

Our party system is not also strong such that these politicians will work hard to ensure their party retain power due to the great work the did.

So am suggesting we keep the option open but stop re-electing these office holders, except they perform very well above average. Is it a good idea? And it help?

Politics › Trump: ‘I Have Something Very, Very Big Concerning Obama’ by egift(op): 1:04pm On Oct 23, 2012
Donald Trump, the real estate mogul, reality TV star and de facto leader of the "birther" movement, says he is planning a "big announcement" about President Barack Obama.

"I have something very, very big concerning the president of the United States," Trump told "Fox & Friends" on Monday during a phone interview. "I will be announcing it sometime probably Wednesday and it's going to be very big."

"Will it change the election?" co-host Gretchen Carlson asked Trump.

"Possibly," Trump replied. "It's very big—bigger than anybody would know."

Trump—who has been live-tweeting during the presidential debates—said he would likely make the announcement on "the Twitter."

The "Celebrity Apprentice" host was supposed to deliver a "big surprise" at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., but Hurricane Isaac forced the GOP to cut his appearance from the truncated schedule. The "big surprise"? A video featuring an Obama impersonator who Trump predictably fired.

hotwax: Your comment describes your mentality.

Obama got osama? Wooow what A̶̲̥̅ great achievement. So, what will the CIA/FBI directors count as their achievements? See. Without or with Obama, CIA has been tracking Osama.
First I don't know how the leadership of Obama have affected you. But two things are facts here:
1. While he may not have fixed everything, Obama have done well in rebuilding the image of the US and fixing the mess the GOP left, despite stiff opposition from the Republicans.

2. If out of your dislike, you are Romney who have no core, can not say a thing and stand by it - then you are deluding yourself. Because during the years Romney have been everything and anything.

Am not making things up, watch this and tell us one thing that is false.

The worst is that with the sites and their contents gone, they emailed me saying all the sites I listed are loading fine. i mean empty sites loading fine!

I do not even know how to start transfering empty websites.
Webmasters › Re: Web4africa: Reseller Host, Who Else Is Having This Issues? by egift(op): 9:25am On Oct 19, 2012
The support responds is even terrible:
For weeks, each time I alert them, all I get is "forwarding your concern to our senior admin" - "we have fixed the issue" (when things are worst and nothing done) - "contact your web developer to redesign your site".

What can I do? I can even imagine redesign tens of site that were just okay all over again.
Webmasters › Web4africa: Reseller Host, Who Else Is Having This Issues? by egift(op): 9:18am On Oct 19, 2012
I really want to know if the these problems are peculiar to me alone?

For months I keep having downtimes, my clients sites going offline within hours. I always complain to them.

Lately, its a different set of issues: the server may just reset and the site will appear the way it usually display when you create a new hosting account (also the files and folders will still remain on the File Manager, but none will be accessible).

Its over a week now most of my sites are that way and as days go by, more site will relapse too. I can even state how angry I am.

Is there anyone having similar issue or is it just me?
Politics › Re: Presidency 2015: Judge’s Absence Postpones Verdict On Jonathan by egift(m): 2:43am On Oct 19, 2012
GEJ is not qualified to contest 2015.

Reason:
After OBJ wanted to pull a fast one on us with his 3rd term bid, our constitution clearly stated:
- You cannot be sworn in twice.
- You cannot serve more than 8yrs
(In fact if anything happens and election is not held when it should, our law says an interim govt will kick in (that should be the VP or President of the Senate).

Uruguay president's entire assets: a VW Beetle
Uruguayan President Jose Mujica has declared that his entire wealth is nothing more than a 1987 Volkswagen Beetle.

https://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01533/Jose-Mujica_1533461c.jpg

Mr Mujica, a farmer and former agriculture minister and senator, promised to continue investor-friendly policies that have helped the economy.

In a sworn statement detailing his assets, Mr Mujica said he has no bank accounts or other assets and put his small flower farm in his wife's name, only possessing the ageing car, worth £1,300.

Mr Mujica, a former leftist guerrilla, took office in March and he is popular in the small ranching nation for his modest lifestyle and down-to-earth attitude.

The 75-year-old president's sworn statement, made public this week, shows Mr Mujica has no debt – or savings – and does not own any other property.

Mr Mujica's presidential salary is £8,000 per month, but he donates most of that to the ruling leftist coalition and a public housing programme.

He has refused to move to the official presidential residence, opting to stay in the simple home his senator wife owns on the outskirts of the capital, Montevideo.

In contrast, his vice president Danilo Astori's declared wealth of £173,000 includes a house and car worth nearly 10 times Mr Mujica's Beetle.

The leftist leader, who shuns formal suits and ties, was jailed for more than a decade for his guerrilla activities during the 1960s and 1970s.

Politics › Nigeria Is In A Bad Shape: Why Are We Not Facing The Facts? by egift(op): 10:37am On Oct 01, 2012
At 52, Nigeria is still in a terrible shape. All the little needs we had are still there, plus more being added to the list.

Yes I know Trillions have been spent and more stolen. But where it pain most is when everyone pretend all is fine. So will even want us to be laughing/smile, according to them, "the worst have not happen", "it could have been worst" and "you are alive, be happy".

Why are we (government and the people) not telling ourselves the truth? Imagine our Anniversary, its like funeral.
