US Hospital Accuses Orji Kalu Of Forgery

Orji Uzor Kalu
Former Abia State Governor, Mr. Orji Uzor kalu currently facing charges of laundering N3.1 Billion state funds may be charged for forgery in the United States. The ex-Governor is accused of forging a letter from Brigham Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts, US requesting his presence for his wife’s surgery.

Kalu in a letter to the Federal High Court Abuja had sought for permission to travel to the United States on the ground that “I have just received information through Victor Onochie (by fax) to the effect that my wife is due for a major surgery on 8th August in Brigham and Women‘s Hospital in Massachusetts, USA.

But the Brigham and Women Hospital, MA, through Dr. Kwan and Heather Galvin, both assistants to Dr. Peter Black, the alleged signatory to the Kalu’s letter denied knowledge of such letter.

When Pointblanknews.com confronted the Hospital with the letter, Dr. Kwan said “that is not Dr. Peter Black’s signature. It is obviously forged. This hospital does not issues such letters.”

According to Dr. Kwan, “this is strange and we are not taking it lightly. We are looking into it and we might require the police to come in.”

He disclosed that Orji Kalu’s wife, Ifeoma Ada Kalu was last seen on appointment for MRN in 1999 insisting that “there is no appointment scheduled for her.

Vice President Jonathan Bows To Pressure, Declares N.2Billion In Assets

VP Goodluck Jonathan
The Vice president Goodluck Jonathan yesterday capitulated to public pressure over the public declaration of his assets as done by his boss, President Umaru Yaradua as he made public his assets declaration to the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The assets which were made public by the senior Special Assistant to the Vice president on Media and Public Affairs, Ima Niboro indicates that the value of the Vice president total assets and cash in banks stands at N295,304,420.

This is about N561, 148,472 less than the assets declare by President Umaru Yar’Adua who declared his total assets to be at the value of N856,452,892.

Mr. Iniboro said the vice president’s decision to make public his assets declaration was to show that ‘there is nothing to hide’.

He added that the vice president is ‘a firm believer in the rule of law and this has guided his conduct in office through the years.

“It is this belief that also guided his position that having declared his assets for a total of seven times, there was no point in going further to publish the declaration” he noted

The vice president’s aide regretted that the position of the vice president not to make public his assets declaration had ‘generated an unfortunate storm, which is not only distractive but also quite unnecessary. We are worried that some newspapers and citizens we hold in high esteem have joined the fray.

“This merely shows that in the affairs of man, there comes a time when even the law must take a second place and the public mood must define our actions. To The Vice president, this is such a time, hence the choice to send you a copy of his declaration for publication” he said.

PoliticsFg Make Volte Face, Restores Efcc Powers To Prosecute. by egin(op): 11:09pm On Aug 07, 2007
Source http://www.saharareporters.com/www/news/detail/?id=388

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Michael Andoakaar has done a media briefing making a volte face on the initial stance of the Federal Government regarding the powers of the EFCC to prosecute economic criminals, especially ex-governors. In his briefing to the media today at the State House, he stated that he was 'clarifying' media reports about yesterday’s position of the Federal Government which requires the EFCC to refer all of its criminal cases to the office of the Attorney General before they can carry out criminal prosecutions.

The new position now is that the EFCC can prosecute without recourse to his office. The Attorney General working behind the scenes with ex-governors had written a letter to Yar’adua requesting that he is granted the powers to supervise all prosecutions by the EFCC, ICPC and the Code of Conduct Bureau. Yar’adua approved the request to please former governors especially James Ibori who had put enormous pressure on him to rein in on the EFCC.

However, what the Attorney General was not telling the media is that the volte face came as a result of the interventions from Chief of Staff and State Counsel who felt the Attorney General's memo to Umar Yar’adua was misleading as did not take into account a subsisting Supreme Court ruling on the issue which was highlighted by the West Africa Bar Association President, Femi Falana in his reaction to the announcement yesterday.

After meeting with the President, Chief of Staff invited the Attorney General over to tell him his position could not stand, a further meeting was held which included EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, Justice Ayoade of ICPC and Wale Babalakin, the honorary Adviser on Legal Matters and the SGF, Baba Gana Kingibe, the meeting concluded that the AG position would compromise the fight against corruption and would injure the Yar’adua administration terribly as exemplified by public outcry over the decision.

Nuhu Ribadu specifically stated that the case referred to AG office, that of Makanjuola, the Permanent Secretary to the ministry of Defence and Obasanjo cousin who embezzled huge amount of money in 2000 did not go anywhere till date.

At the end, a compromise was arrived at that the Attorney General should brief the press to 'clarify' his position as a way of saving the face of the Federal Government since it was his cross anyway.

Meanwhile, Mr. Femi Falana has asked the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to resign his position immediately for gross incompetence

toooooooooooooo soft on illegal immigraton. What is your solution to illegal immigration? Round up 12 milliom illegals and deport them. That will go into the history books. Immigration whether legal or illegal is part of the American life. Think of something else why you will not vote for either of these candidates.

Voting for a candidate is not a matter of wasting your vote but believing in the candidate's ability to address issues you think might improve your life. You dont always have to vote for the popular candidate so as not to waste your vote.

Check this out and make your judgment.

ICPC Interogates Custom Boss Over N50 Billion Annual Loss , Dangote, Otedola, Turaki, Duke, Daniel Fingered

The comptroller General of Nigerian Customs Services, Mr. Jacob Gyang Buba is presently being investigated by the independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC in connection with an annual loss of N50 Billion in respect of the importation tariff waiver introduced by the Government of President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Pointblanknews.com learnt during the week that Mr. Buba has been a regular caller at the Abuja headquarters offices of the ICPC where he has facing intense interrogation within that last few weeks over repeated annual loss of about N50 Billion within the last eight years. The duty/tariff waiver was introduced by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo purportedly to serve as a stimulant for importation business within the Nigerian economy. Already the rippling is effect of the comptroller General’s confessions to the ICPC is being strongly felt by corporate Nigeria. It is believed that the useful statement that was given to the ICPC and the threat by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC to expose Aliko Dangote maybe part of the reason why Alhaji Dangote of Dangote Group and Blue star Consortium made a volte-face over his interest in the purchase on his interest to buy the Kaduna and Port- Harcourt refineries aside the threat from Labor Union. Dangote among other powerful Nigerians was singularly alleged to have reaped a windfall of over N40 Billion from the so-called regime of waiver.

Other Nigerians who were said to have benefited from the waiver deal include such politicians and investors as Dangote, ex-Governors Saminu Turaki, Donald Duke, Governor Gbenga Daniel and Femi Otedola. Dangote was said to have been terribly disturbed by the gravity of the disclosure of his centrality to the whole deal that he had to hurriedly announce his interest in the Kaduna and Port-Harcourt refineries in order to maintain a low public profile both the media and the generality of Nigerians.

advertisement

Apart from the statement made to the ICPC by the Customs Comptroller General, Dangote has a lot of things to worry about in the way he is being “regularly accused” of conniving with political office holders to literarily cream off the Nigerian economy by way of questionable concession often made to him by successive administration. Dangote has been a big campaign donor for many politician including ex-president Obasanjo and several Governors and Lawmakers. He reportedly gave close to a Billion naira for Obasanjo for president campaign in 1999 and 2003. More disturbing was the disclosure that he alone benefited over N40 Billion from the concession granted him to import sundry commodities into Nigeria. It was said that he enjoyed such concession because he had powerful political connection. His gains constitute terrible pain to the Nigerian economy. He was said to have bought a private Bombardier Challenger 300 Jet with registration number 3B-SSD which was registered in Mauritius and delivered through Ireland in June 2007 which he allegedly gave to ex-President Obasanjo to show gratitude. Obasanjo was said to have used Dangote as a front when he sold him a liquidated Federal Jet for an undisclosed amount. The said Jet bought from the Nigerian government is now the second in the fleet of Obasanjo’s private plane; Dangote is said to have since handed the plane back to the man who kept the plane with him in trust.

Dangote is a man who is fighting in several theaters of war. His recent allegations that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC is a beehive of corrupt practices has drawn the anger of NNPC top level executives who in turn are said to be spoiling for a no-hold-bared disclosure of all the under-table intrigue that led to the doubtful emergence of Dangote as the leading bidder in the privatization of the petroleum refineries in both Kaduna and Port-Harcourt. With the on-going interrogation of the Nigerian Customs czar, Dangote is said to be simply sick and tired of being incessantly accused of dominating the Nigerian business space using unscrupulous means.

I commend the actions of the EFFC these past few days at bringing some ex-governors to account for their mishandling of peoples money. My question is when will the EFCC start arresting and bring bigger thieves ( Ibori, Igbinedion Tinubu, Odili--- you know them) to justice. I hope this will be too long. For Nigeria to really move forward we need to see to people being made to be accountable for their actions.

No roads, No electricity, No good public schools at all levels, No portable water supply, bad healthcare system. Fobes will only rate people with legitimate, verifiable income.
