funloving, I agree with all the points raised. It is the race that is the problem. I believe God never created us to be the same as other races. God created us for a different reason and that is exactly who we are. Religion has not helped either as the black race has the most pastors/alfas per people. Closeness or even living amongst other races has not helped. It is just who we are. I am beginning to believe that nothing good can come out of the black race. We are living witnesses to the amazing transformation in Asia and the Middle east yet we have nothing to show for the tremendous natural and human resources that we have in the Sub-Saharan Africa where majority of the Black people are concentrated. Some people blame slavery for our misery, I don't. The situation is so bad now that some people will even pay to be a slave. People sell their assets, borrow just to get out of the misery, come over to the western world where some take up menial jobs and face uncertain future. |
We cannot host the civilized world with the state of our roads like those shown below.

The video was edited but not far from the truth. |
Federal Government of Nigeria, check out this site and buy the right gears for our fire service. http://www.edarley.com/?&s=google&kw=fire__fighting_gear |
The picture tells it all. This is 21st century fire fighting in Nigeria. The firefighters don't even have fire fighting gears wearing rainboots to fight fire. What a shame? A scene of the carnage along Ibadan-Lagos expressway where many lives were lost this morning 2007/10/29. Photo: Emma Osodi.

Seun:Seun or whatever you call yourself. Just keep quiet and sympathize with the people that lost their lives. Have you been or seen pictures of roads in Brazil that is in the same geographical region and has the same climate as Nigeria. There are no potholes. Obasanjo and the past leaders are to blame for all the woes in Nigeria. I hope this same thing happens to their families and their loved ones. Live in Nigeria is worth less than that of a dog in civilised societies. |
I do not believe that we blacks are inferior to the whites. While scientifically we belong to the same species, God never created us to be same as the whites, and probably we were created at times. Look at the black race all over the world, the question is how come we are always behind in everything? Just mention it. |
What has Nigeria turned to? It should not come to this. God help us. Picture below shows the remains of a member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Aminu Safana, who died after a scuffle in the House on Wednesday, being taken away from the National Hospital, Abuja, to Katsina State for burial. davidylan:What is your solution? Deportation? |
One down, 35 more and Obasanjo's stooge to go. My hope in the judiciary rekindled. |
babasin:Can you come up with a list of reasons why they need us more than we need them? |
We need them, they don't need us. Period |
Right there on the dash. |
This is not brand new. The odometer reading is 8575. |
Chief Akinloye, the chairman of the National Party of Nigeria during the Second Republic was however, a controversial man. He once was awarded a contract by the military administration of Lagos to supply the state with mass transit buses. The Chief and his group bought decrepit buses from Sweden and it became a huge scandal. The windows of the buses were sealed. The air conditioning that the buses were equipped were not functioning. The heaters in the bus brought much discomfort to the commuters. The complaints of Lagosians precipitated the state government to institute a judicial inquiry to look into the manner in which the buses were purchased. Adisa Akinloye and his group were found guilty by the panel headed by Mr. Justice Basil Adedipe in the contract scandal called Scania. The politician was subsequently banned from doing any business with the Lagos State government. |
Foremost politician and elder statesman, Chief Adisa Akinloye, succumbed to the cold hands of death last night at the age of 91 at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. A family source, who was with the Chief before he died, said that the former National Party of Nigeria (NPN) stalwart had been discharged yesterday and was expected back in his residence in Oje area of Ibadan this morning before he passed on last night. The source said, “they had removed all the drips and what he was using to urinate. Yesterday, he was so happy and he even joked with everybody as he was expecting to be back in his house this morning. “He ate cracker biscuits and drank tea. But all of a sudden, things changed and at about 10.30 p.m. he died.” Family members, government officials, diplomats and politicians have started eulogising and commiserating with the family of the deceased politician. Among them were the Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, Mrs. Gladys Adutee Vaughan, Akinloye’s immediate younger sister and former ambassador to Malawi and Zambia, Mrs. Ronke Adefowope, Justice Iyabo Yerima of the Oyo State judiciary and Oyo Action Congress Governorship candidate, Professor Taoheed Adedoja. Alao-Akala described Akinloye as an astute politician while Mrs. Vaughan said he was a good man. Mrs. Adefowope opined that the late politician was a colossus who played politics without bitterness. |
swing4real:I cannot agree more with you when you consider the level of corruption in the country,(which is outright stealing of public funds), lack of basic infrastructure such as portable water, electricity, good roads- see pictures attached, poor healthcare, lack of good schools (at all levels) A country where employment is not guaranteed no matter your discipline and level of education.--------the list goes on and on.

anusule:Fruits are not supposed to be openly displayed in a warm and uncontrolled environment as the picture suggest. They go bad quicker and can pose a risk to public health. If I may ask again what are the benefits of posting these pictures? |
We do not need to present a false image to any foreign investor as the will eventually find out and by then it will be too late. |
tayuboy:128 and 256 MB in this damn age? These must be old systems. Why not recycle? |
I have followed with keen interest our political leaders and their preference of going abroad for medical up. Why don't we set up a standard medical facility in Nigeria so that these leaders can stay home and concentrate on the job they were elected to do and also save some money for the country? Medical check up is not cheap especially when you do not live there. Now check this out. http://www.tribune.com.ng/17082007/news/news4.html |
How did Obasanjo get to the camp? Did he fly in a helicopter considering the bad condition He left Nigerian roads after 8 years in power. Whoever allowed him on the pulpit should be ashamed. Nigerian leaders both past and present need to be told the truth just like the Olubadan designate is doing. We need more of him. |
