mmsen: Who is guilty of 'tribalism' here?
Are you denying that there is a problem in Nigeria? Or have you forgotten the silly protest in Lagos earlier this year? The stupid comments from the royal idiot? Or the everyday comments that you hear in passing about Igbos?
The fact is there are people engaged in commerce in Nigeria, in a big way, doing so honestly but many would prefer to overlook their hard work - why is that? That is your main point. Its a good point. So don't spoil it all by saying :"especially as many are Igbo owned". That would make your otherwise good comment tribalistic and untrue. Cheers! |

It's when the oyinbo come and promise something for nothing that clueless Nigerians get excited. please, will you stop this tribalism and nonsense talk? Its really irritating. Cant you just be rational in your comments? Must everything boil down to Igbo vs the-rest-of-Nigeria? Its disgusting! |

mysweetnina: Nairalanders, I need mature and real people opinion here.
I am a banker, 32, married with two kids, boy and girl. My wife works with a MDA in abuja while I work out from Nassarawa. I rented a 2 bedroom flat for them in Lugbe, abuja while i visit every weekend. I love her and love the kids however I notice we dont agree on a lot of things, mostly financial matters. she prefer i spend all on her and her kids and whenevr i am broke, she will gladly lend me cash. I dont ve ish with that and i ve been enjoying it for years now. I cheat on her but i dont see it as cheating but rather caring for my emotional needs. I have talked her into coming to stay in lafia with me before but i noticed she is very comfortable with her job and i dont want to be the reason for career truncation/ dissatisfaction in her life.
i decide to live my life in my own way; strategically sleeping with other ladies as need be. recently, i asked my colleague out. a lady banker, same level. for 3 months now, we have been hot and i can no longer touch or tolerate my wife. my colleague recently took in for me but we took care of it. i am scared as she is madly in love with me and she is available. I am also madly in love with her. i am choosing her over my wife right now. how can I solve this.
Guys I love her, dont tell me to leave her. we enjoy sex together in a way I dont with my wife. Just give your honest opinion to help those that may find themselves in my place someday.
Thank u. well.. |

So here is a list of some ordinary everyday issues and scenarios that just baffle me. Try as I might, I can’t seem to understand them. Nothing serious, just for laffs! 1. Okonjo-Iweala’s Gele: Okonjo Iweala’s stylist, if she has one, should be fired for gross incompetence. What?! Everytime Mama finance minister comes up on tv, my mind goes blank. I have wondered if she is just another Banky trying to hide something. How else shall we explain tying a headgear on the forehead? As if that is not enough, she ties it in that disconcerting style that reminds me of the days of going to the well to fetch water. If you know Okonjo in the most remote way (maybe you are a friend to the step sister of her generator repair man) please do the nation a big favour by getting a message across to her. And before anybody tells me its not my business, She is a public servant, ergo, she is accountable to the public. If her gele gives me constipation, then I have a right to protest! https://i62.tinypic.com/eprkth_th.jpghttps://i62.tinypic.com/351figj_th.jpg2. Ladies shaving eyebrows and then drawing it with a pencil: I have asked the ladies closest to me this question and no one has come up with an answer that is coherent, let alone satisfactory. Let me just ask the ladies: if you want eyebrows, why do you go through the pain of shaving them off, spend money on an eye pencil and energy and time to draw it back. Sounds like some of our ladies are confused. It’s like cutting off your legs and replacing them with prosthetic legs, except that legs, unlike hair, do not grow back. Try it; you’ll see that it’s true. Ok, please don’t try to cut your legs! https://i62.tinypic.com/rlktia_th.jpg3The Nepa Situation: Some people think there is a special demon assigned to the electricity situation in Nigeria. If they are right, then you have to agree that that demon comes highly recommended. I remember those days when as a child I would be praying quietly that Nepa would ‘bring light’ so that I could watch Tales by Moonlight and Papa Ajasco. Those were the days before China came to our rescue with those cute little ‘I-better-pass-my-neighbour’ generators that are responsible for many Nigerians having on bicep bigger than the other. Well, i am grown (I have a beard too ) but we are still battling with this monster called 'no light'. My folks say it’s been like that for so long. (Check out the photograph below. 1986? What?) Goodness, providing electricity shouldn’t be rocket science! Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, even Rwanda export electricity. Nigeria has reportedly spent $20 billion on electricity since 1999. Goodness, goodness, Gracious God! Can somebody explain to me why the giant of Africa still struggle with 4,000 Megawatts? https://i57.tinypic.com/291mkna_th.jpg4The bias against the left hand: I have always wondered why all the various peoples of the world unanimously favour the right hand over the left hand. Because I hate partiality and injustice, I won’t let it slide. I intend to start a world-wide protest in support of the left hand. The left hand is like that barren ugly wife in a polygamous home whom everyone ignores unless she is absolutely needed (for dirty work of course!). Pray tell, why should it be the exclusive responsibility of the left hand to wipe out butts while the right hand gets the more honourable role of shaking her royal majesty, the Queen of England and shovelling food into our mouths? It’s just plain unfair! There is is elderly man in my father’s family. I haven’t really been able to work out how we are related; all I know is that he is the ‘Olori-ebi’. If I ever tried to give him something with my left hand, he would slap me so hard that my mother would feel the pain. Needless to say, I hide in the wardrobe whenever he visits. And…by the way, I am right handed; I just believe in hand equality and I plan to start learning to write with my left hand. So, whose with me? https://i61.tinypic.com/whitqh_th.jpg5. Some Nigerian Names: Now this is one sensitive issue. But, seriously, some Naija names are just ridiculous. Ok, If you happen to bear one of such names, please think of a word that is nicer than ‘ridiculous’ and replace, thank you. Patience Jonathan’s mother’s name is Fineface . A boy on my street bears the name Humble. There are names like Endwell, Thankgod, Richman, Bestpaul, Godspower, Nature. I just wonder: what were the parents thinking? How can you squeeze together an entire sentence, remove the punctuation and make it a nominal noun. Godspower? For the parents that named their kid Difference,well..i reserve my comment. By the way, the name Kingsley is NOT an English name. It doesn’t exist in English culture. Nigerians invented that somehow. I wish we had invented a flying vehicle instead. 6.Halloween in Nigeria: It’s not just Halloween, but every other unnecessary culture that Nigerians copy just because it’s from the west. You can laugh over every other issue I have raised but please I am serious about this. People who have never been to Seme (the border between Nigeria and the republic of Benin) celebrate Halloween these days. Heck, there are so much festivals and carnivals in Nigeria that you can’t possibly partake in them all. So what are you looking for? Our celebs like to tweet about celebrating Halloween (although a lot of them can’t even spell the word correctly. I won’t mention names). It’s absurd! I have nothing against Halloween. But make no mistake; celebrating a holiday/festival that you do not understand just because it western, doesn’t make you cool. Lying in the freezer does. https://i60.tinypic.com/34qoebr_th.jpg7 Add yours: Because I am a very kind and considerate person, I thought it would be selfish to keep all 7 to myself. So I will let everyone include their own number 7. What’s that one ordinary everyday thing that you can’t seem to understand? I can’t wait to read your response! https://i57.tinypic.com/a58753_th.png 1 Like 1 Share |

francizy: It makes no sense to you but it does to me. I've been a victim of females sexual abuse and I know how it feels. It was a bit easy to get over it at the end, I didn't inherit an overwide butt hole and I didn't turn out gay!
The fact that my son may turn out gay after being fūcked by a bastard he goat makes me mad and that is one good reason why my kids will never attend a singles school or even boarding school by God's grace. but op u also said you won't forgive a man who molests ur daughter. if ur argument is based on the likelihood of the victim turning himosexual, then there is inconsistency. |

She's trying so hard to remain relevant. If she wants to help, she should take up the mantle of leadership, instead of making noise on the pages of Newspapers. excuse me, but who says you have to be a political office holder before you 'take up the mantle of leadership ', to borrow your words. if you knew anything about leadership then you would know that oby and several other like her are already true leaders. Just remember that history will not only judge us for our actions only but for our inactions as well. in the professor's defense, Soyinka is not speaking from both sides of his mouth. his position is simple: Neither Jonathan nor Buhari represents the true change we need, but from the looks of things, one of them will be president. So, whomever Nigerians choose, We should be prepared to live with the consequences. And that is my position too! |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 5 Things Recruiters Want To See On Your CV by Eillo(m): 1:17pm On Feb 06, 2015 |
AirborneLacer: If I were to be an employer, indicating your graduating GPA wouldn't have me thinking you're the man for the job.
Most students who graduated with high GPA especially in Nigeria actually bought their way through it hence using such criterion to filter job seekers would be unwittingly giving the job to the wrong person.
If you possess the required basic skills for a particular job and can ace your interview then you're good to go. Your GPA counts as nothing here.
Personally nothing beats having a successful internship. It enhances your chances of getting a job much faster than anyother feature. How can you say most people who have high cgpa bought their way through? |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 5 Things Recruiters Want To See On Your CV by Eillo(m): 11:34am On Feb 06, 2015 |
geekybabe: I arrange my resume/cv according to my strenghts. I dont follow any formats. I never put my Cgpa on my CV and I have been invited for a lot of interviews. If my GPA is not my strong point, why would i put it in the CV? I would be shooting myself in the leg if i did that.
These days, a lot of people have the so called high CGPA, and will not even perform well in interviews. Or maybe they dont even have the required skills for the role being advertised. I Know myself, and what I am capable of doing, and what my skills are. I have a couple of certifications, those are the things i place first in my CV. I always ace most of my interviews. Right now I am being faced with choices of which job to go for.
If you are even in the IT field like myself, recruiters will never ask you your CGPA. Its always about your skills. What you can do. What problems you can solve.
My Conclusion: IF your CGPA is not your strong point, you would only be shooting yourself in the leg if you put it in the CV. (Except it is specifically stated that you put it). in fact u have said it all. there is no perfect format for cv. just showcase your strong points and anything that can give you an edge. it could be something as simple as speaking a couple foreign languages, or having dual citizenship. yes, there are jobs for which such things matter. it all depends on the job. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 5 Things Recruiters Want To See On Your CV by Eillo(m): 11:28am On Feb 06, 2015 |
Ukeachu1: the cgpa might count for notin. any reputable firm issues a highly competitive aptitude test for graduate employment. ur score in d test is definitely ur cgpa to them. who cares what ur trashy school gives u. so just pass the test first. make I no read about this issue again for here o. everyone is now a c.v expert. Why are you trying to trivialise the cgpa. It should count for something as a fresh graduate. as for companies conducting aptitude tests, do you think it's all who apply that get invitation for the test. anything that gives you an edge would be a nice addition to the cv. u guys should stop discouraging undergrads with Al this false information. A reasonable recruiter should at least pay a little attention to someone with a good grade and give him d opportunity to prove his worth. of cos people with lower grades do make it, once they prove their worth. but a good cgpa (earned the right way) is a step towards proving your worth too. but the way u guys are going about the issue, one would almost think a good cgpa is a shameful thing. to the undergrads, don't settle for less just because "4.9 is the same thing as 3.5" In your academics (and every other area of your life), be the best you can be. but remember that the cgpa on its own is never enough. |

Empero1: I for one , I have got no friend and I have no regret in doing so , because in 3 separate occasions in the cause of my life existence so far , I have tried to have one , but in each of the occasions , it turned out that anyone you assumed to be a friend is literally the vicious person in ones life ... pretenders , hypocrites , perfidies , snitches , snoopers .
As the saying goes " too much of familiarity breeds contempt " . And the wall that separates one and his/her neighbors is the bond that hold any cordial relationship in existence between both , because once the wall is pulled down , the cordial relationship will die a natural death . Thus far , I have and recognize the following list of people in my life :
- Family - Relatives - Kins Men - Mentors - Proteges - Associates - Acquaintances
Meanwhile , from my experience also , I can testify that after Family , the next most productive set of people in ones life are the " Mentors " , Associates and Proteges " . The moment you select these sets of people wisely , progress is assured . In all , God is the rock and ultimate decider of our fate , so all glory to Him . I would say don't give up on friendship just yet. friendship can be wonderful. I know this for a fact because when I make a mental list of the blessings in my life I have to count friendship in the top five. it's unfortunate that you have had nasty experiences but I believe that if u can be a good friend, then surely there will be others like you. Trust me genuine friendship can be refreshing and inspiring. and yes, it exists! |
