Better to be late than never. Congrats to the recently admitted ones and good-luck to those that are yet to receive the good news of admission.
The Good Lord that did it for others will do it for you too.

Just a social science learner....
Come on brother, Ok. Who was Jack Ma? An English Language Teacher.
But look at him today, he is the richest man in China by virtue of his stake at Ali Baba which recently made history when it went on IPO last week. And it is the highest IPO in history at $68. per share.
I don't need a fortune teller to tell me the stuff you are made of.
See you at the summit of ladder of success.

Doctor20002: my dear am really busy with my patient. since morning but my research result show d following

Memory Loss
It's the stuff movies are made of:
After a blow to the head, a
person wanders aimlessly,
unable to remember who he is or
where he came from. While such
sudden, profound loss of
memory is rare, memory loss is a
problem that affects most people
to a degree.
Whether it's occasional
forgetfulness or loss of short-
term memory that interferes with
daily life, there are many causes
of memory loss.
Causes of Memory Loss
Here are some of the more
common things that can cause
memory loss:
Medications. A number of
prescription and over-the-
counter medications can
interfere with or cause loss of
memory. Possible culprits
include: antidepressants,
antihistamines, anti-anxiety
medications, muscle relaxants,
tranquilizers, sleeping pills, and
pain medications given after
surgery.
Alcohol, tobacco, or drug use.
Excessive alcohol use has long
been recognized as a cause of
memory loss.
Smoking harms memory by
reducing the amount of oxygenAlvin Sanico
that gets to the brain
Honestly Dr. if Ben Carson was on this thread he would by all means locate your home address to specially congratulate you on your newly attained title "double MD". You are truly worthy of being ranked among these great Doctors in the field of Allergy/Immunology: John Bacon, Jonathan Matz, Alvin Sanico, Robert A. Wood.
Keep up the good job am going to recommend you to those in charge of the 2nd list to speed things up.

ayozainy: LAW, Unilorin is nt even amongst d best five.
Well, I like your confidence as a would-be lawyer and I truly admire your passion enshrined with unswerving loyalty to the strategically located University (Unilag)
I really have a lot to say, but saying everything would be an outright betrayal of my personal philosophy of life which is: "never attack an unarmed individual".
On this thread you are the allegorically unarmed individual, and I don't think you have enough in your arsenal of weapons to swiftly affray your opponents who find your posts as stark affront and conceitedly assume a pyrrhic victory. Besides you are the only one on this thread and if everyone deems it fit to reply your posts they will soon be saying the same thing ad nauseam.
If you don't mind i will like to issue you an open challenge on Unilag thread since you are allergic to online arguments and other of your ilks would egoistically come to your aid, and that way you won't feel defenseless.
As a matter of intuitive analysis, I think you are on this thread to perfect your argumentative abilities as a lawyer to be. And that makes you a triton among the minnows, an admirable crichton potentially to be called to the Bar.
Retrospectively, if you truly have passion for law I think Lasu should have been your number one choice, but mismanagement and lack of political will may have obliterated the status it enjoyed in the years past as the foremost institution for legal studies. But chances are, it will bounce back to its enviable position in the foreseeable future.
And interestingly, most of Lasu's lecturers are alumni of Unilorin and that is another big plus for THE BETTER BY FAR.

I wish you great success in your academic adventure and don't hesitate to visit this thread every now and then, for this is a thread that welcomes all manners of controversies.
ps: Regarding your online arguments allergies, you had better do something about it because the digital wind of change is not going to spare any field of human endeavours.
Hypothetically, if you were to conduct an e-defense for a client in a virtual environment and you profess to be allergic to doing that. So how would you excel in defending your client? But here comes, the deus ex machina, @DR. 20002, He only appears when help is mostly needed and after rendering is professional advice the moderator considers him irrelevant and hands him a ban.
I think Dr.20002 would be more than obliged to help you out and if he gets banned I think he would take solace from the fact that he is saving a career, and there is no joy or happiness that surpasses that. DR. 20002, remember your hippocratic oath.

@bethedoski, Wow, you must have really gone far brother. I truly appreciate you for meticulously putting your points across. The future you are envisioning is gradually taking shape. We now have decentralized electronic currency such as Bitcoin, Dodgecoin, Litecoin, Drones that can deliver aid to remote areas, and a host of other technological breakthroughs that permeate every facet of life including the medical world.
Don' forget, the field of AI (Artificial Intelligence) will no doubt play a decisive role in shaping the world technology-wise.
It was recently claimed by Dave Coplin, a senior Microsoft executive, that robots will be running the City within 10 years, rendering investment bankers, analysts and even quants redundant,
Yes,This will indeed render certain professions redundant, while other "human only" skills will become increasingly valuable.
But exception, being an inherent rule of every game and I believe in Moravec's paradox, the Eighties hypothesis discovered by artificial intelligence and robotics researchers. "This states that what we think is easy, robots find really hard, and what we think is really hard, robots find easy," for example, complex maths equations are hard for humans but take nanoseconds for a computer, but moving around and picking things up is easy for us, while being almost impossible for a robot.
Meanwhile, professions currently viewed as commodities will become specialist human skills. It would be hard to train a robot to be a nurse, or even a chef, but the city could be run by algorithms, this means people who use their hands will have jobs for life. But technology affords us a tremendous opportunity to play to our strengths as humans, and stand on the shoulders of robotic giants.
In the future, computers will not only be able to undertake complex mathematical equations but draw logical, nuanced conclusions, reducing the need for human interference. Because artificial intelligence is about to outpace human ability.
Oh, i've a lot to say but over time, I've been ridiculously made to understand that anything other than "when merit list and supplementary list will be out (in short, anything pertaining to UNILORIN)" is not welcomed on this forum. But I think this forum should be miscellaneous in nature because this is a forum for future game changers.
As a matter of fact, this post may very well be my last post on this platform because there is no need being insensitive to unanimous decision courtesy of the Luddites on this forum.
As for my contact details, I think that won't be necessary, for you already have the foundation and all you need do is to continue building on that foundation.
Good luck brother.
PS: I am not yet a student of Unilorin, because I was only offered provisional admission. but I may well be its student soon ceteris paribus.

Torilo: @EINSTEINPG, You have been mute lately, Hope you are fine?
Thanks sister. I am hale and hearty. Yes, I have been mute lately because I have been undergoing a tough and rigorous cooking training under the tutelage of my mother. And the reasons for this are:
1. I can not cook properly.
2. I don't patronize Bukateria(canteen/mama put). Yes, I am a typical AJEPAKO.
3. Family Doctor advises us against patronizing cafeteria.
4. I don't take Cassaflake and Gnut(Garri and Groundnut) for health reason.
With those reasons above I wonder how am going to survive in Ilorin, and despite keeping my nose to the grindstone I still don't seem to be learning anything from this supposedly life-support training.
Oh gush, this is a dilemma. I wish I would be lucky enough to be paired with roommates that can cook while I complement their efforts by providing the necessary foodstuff out of my parents' widow's mite.

skeendeep: Congrats bro,am in too. I will love to meet you in person and maybe get to learn from you this your ur dexterity in the use of the language. Until then here's my whatsapp num; 08128966943
Congrats to you too brother. Thanks for your compliment--am flattered. If there is anybody at Unilorin that I would love to meet in person, I can't imagine any better qualified person than you. I just have this inexplicable believe that you are such a smart fellow. Because you seem to me to be ultra conservative on this forum, and conservative individuals are usually endowed with a high faculty of intellect.
Just because you've not been making noise, using words out of context with grotesque malapropism just to impress people like I am perceived to have been doing on this forum, does not mean I am a better speaker of English than you. After all, empty vessels make the most noise.
Besides, I have this serious weakness, 'I hardly fraternize with people.' And this weakness has nothing to do with intellectual snobbery or badge of pride/arrogance. I just hope I would overcome this weakness in time, so that I can interact/socialize with everyone freely. For now, I have to bear the weight of this social threatening weakness.
Please do pray for me to overcome my weakness. Until then, I will guard your number jealously in my diary.
Thanks for your understanding.

Perhaps she is prophesying futuristically, but since I am not a psychic I can not ascertain her intuitive perception of me.

Torilo: Wonderful write up from you, EINSTEINPG,anyway am not flabbergasted since this is not the first i will be reading coming from you. Just wondering how you were able to give out all these details about someone you have not met in person.
Am grateful for your thorough observation about me, It has also given me an insight about some inbuilt skills that you also possess.
However,I know i will attain the level of coding wonderfully well someday but still a learner for now. It has always been my desire to know about things in technology but certain things has actually hindered me.
In all am saying it is a work in progress. I know "WE" will definitely make Nigeria proud someday.
Thank you. See you soon.
Trust I won't be asking for so much if I request for your contact. Have a great day.
I can only infer that you have an undiluted desire for programming knowledge and technology in general. And given the proper atmosphere and the right frame of mind, coupled with the presence of a dispassionate instructor who can take you through the basics, I believe you can almost program an OS single-handedly.
Being a hacker is pure joy (unfortunately, many journalists and writers have been fooled into using the word 'hacker' to describe crackers; this irritates the real hackers to no end. The basic difference is this: hackers build things, crackers break them. And the real hackers mostly think crackers are lazy, irresponsible, and not very bright, and object that being able to break security doesn't make you a hacker any more than being able to steal cars make you an automotive engineer).
Again, being a hacker is lots of fun, but it's a kind of fun that takes lots of effort. The effort takes motivation. Since it's your desire to be a hacker you have to get a basic thrill from solving problems, sharpening your skills, and exercising your intelligence.
If you aren't the kind of person that feels this way naturally, you'll need to become one in order to make it as a hacker. Otherwise you'll find your hacking energy is sapped by distractions like sex, money, and social approval.
Since your coding adventure is still a work in progress, I will assume you have a personal computer or can get access to one. (Take a moment to appreciate how much that means. The hacker culture originally evolved back when computers were so expensive that individuals could not own them). The single most important step any newbie can take toward acquiring hacker skills is to get a copy of Linux or one of the BSD-Unixes, install it on a personal machine, and run it.
Yes, there are other operating systems in the world besides Unix. But they are distributed in binary- you can't read the code, and you can't modify it. Trying to learn to hack on a Microsoft Windows machine or under any other closed-source system is like trying to dance while wearing a body cast.
Under Mac OS X it's possible, but only part of the system is open source-you're likely to hit a lot of walls, and you have to be careful not to develop the bad habit of depending on Apple's proprietary code. If you can concentrate on the Unix under the hood you can learn some useful things.
So, bring up a Unix-I like Linux myself but there are other ways (and yes, you can run both Linux and Microsoft Windows on the same machine). Learn it. Run it. Tinker with it. Talk to the Internet with it. Read the code. Modify the code. You'll get better programming tools (including C, LISP,Python, and Perl) than any Microsoft Operating system can dream of hosting, you'll have fun, and you'll soak up more knowledge than you realise you're learning until you look back on it as a master hacker.
I particular recommend a Linux distro called "Ubuntu." While other distros have their own areas of strength, Ubuntu is far and away the most accessible to Linux newbies. Evidently, Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 13.10(code name: Saucy Salamander) were installed on my system previously but I have upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04(code name: Trusty Tahr) which is the latest version of Ubuntu.
But if you're afraid of losing your data on your windows system, when you are considering dual booting Ubuntu alongside Windows on the same system. Then a good way to dip your toes in the water is to boot up what Linux fans called a live CD, a distribution that runs entirely off a CD without having to modify your hard disk, and with that you can get a look at the possibilities without having to do anything drastic.
I hope you haven't started coding with Visual Basic, because there is a specific problem with it; mainly it's not portable. Though there is a prototype open-source implementation of Visual Basic, the applicable ECMA standards don't cover more than a small set of its programming interfaces. On Windows most of its library support is proprietary to a single vendor(Microsoft); if you aren't extremely careful about which feature, you use- you'll end up locked into only those platforms Microsoft chooses to support.
If you're starting on Ubuntu, much better programming languages with better libraries are available. Python, for example.
In general, any language that isn't fully supported under at least Linux or one of the BSDs, and/or at least three different vendors' operating systems, is a poor one to learn programming.
Well, with all the shortcomings of Microsoft you don't have to hate and bash it. Not that Microsoft isn't loathsome, but there was a hacker culture long before Microsoft and there will still be one long after Microsoft is history. Write good code-that will bash Microsoft quite sufficiently without polluting your karma.
To be a programmer you need motivation and initiative and the ability to educate yourself. Start now..........
My apologies to those who may find this lengthy trash annoying.

EducationRe: University Of Ilorin 2014/2015 Admission Thread (undergraduates) by EINSTEINPG:
Torilo: You got me speechless after reading this.Am blushing. Anyway, May I know the reason you said this?

As for the clearance, when do you intend paying and uploading the necessary documents?
As curious as a fish and as intelligent as Torilo. I admire your sheer spirit of inquisitiveness, I wish i could be as inquisitive as you are.
Always asking WHY/HOW is a way of satisfying one's curiosity and it's a rare gift, but I think it's in your genetic makeup. So, with this and a couple of other subtle attributes I was able to discern the potential fecundity of ICS as a career of choice for you.
Besides, we need more women in science and technology due to the extreme disparity between women and men in the tech industry. And this is disparity hurts the technology companies themselves.
There are many theories on why there are not more women in the technology sector. Lots of research has been done to pinpoint the reasons for that.
1. women think it's not interesting.
2. they think they wouldn't be good at it.
3. They think they will be working with a number of people that they just wouldn't feel comfortable or happy working alongside.
Each of these issues can be addressed.
1. Technology is interesting. As Will.i.Am says, "Great coders are today's rock stars." eg Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook co-founder) and Satoshi Nakamoto(the man credited with the invention of Bitcoin, a virtual cryptocurrency that threatens the existence of central banks worldwide).
2. There are many examples of women being effective technology leaders. The NCWIT Heroes podcast series features nearly 80 female tech founders and innovators like Hilary Mason, chief scientist at Bitly, and Helen greiner, co-founder of iRobot.
3. After watching The Intership (have you seen the movie?), who wouldn't be excited and happy with the prospect of working at a major technology company with smart, sometimes quirky, and innovative people?
I hope you can code? Because technology is making it's way into every major industry and that all comes down to people learning programming. You can create anything at all with code; the possibilities are endless. In fact you can change the world with your keyboard.
With proper orientation average girls who just finished secondary school will seriously consider a career in technology because it's exciting, lucrative, and intellectually stimulating.
Half of our society cannot be held back from this inevitable progression. The status quo is simply unsustainable.
Honestly, I must confess that I respect you because for you to have even considered a career in ICS, it's means you are highly informed and you can stand as a shining example to other young ladies out there who are still indecisive about their future. And above all, you are going to make Nigeria proud.

As for the clearance, the indigenisation certificate is sort of precluding me from doing that, but i think it will not exceed next week by the grace of God.

@all admitted candidates, be fast with your acceptance fee payment and proceed to the clearance stage.
To all candidates admitted into faculty of CIS and dept of ICS, u re all welcome, u can add me up for more information.
CONGRATS.
When I see positive changes, I never hesitate to commend the brain behind it.
Unilorin is on the verge of proving my theories wrong but am seriously monitoring the situations. PERHAPS with Prof Ambali it's a new dawn in unilorin regarding disinterested admission procedures
Critics don't judge me yet, it's too early.
As a matter of truth and honesty, i paid nothing to nobody and i have never been to unilorin before, let alone knowing somebody pressing the undeserving button.
Yes brother, Unilorin has eventually proved to me beyond all reasonable doubts that merit is equally its watchword. And every other thing is secondary.
But there will always be room for more improvement in the face of scepticisms and criticisms.
Well, what else can i say? A fault confessed is half redressed. And i am quietly eating the humble pie now.
