Celebrities / ‘I Lost Respect For Stella Damasus Day She Snatched Doris Simeon’s Husband -kate by ejovwovincent(f): 9:17pm On Aug 23, 2016
It is obvious lots of people are still bearing grudges and nursing hatred for Nollywood actress turned singer, Stella Damasus after she moved in with her partner, Daniel Ademinokan who was actress Doris Simeon’s husband.

A while ago, Stella shared this inspiring message below to motivate her followers on Instagram. “We walk around with stained dresses and people laugh at our stains. They laugh even when they don’t know how deep the wounds are. They laugh even when they don’t know how the stains got there. God is changing me because even though I still have a stain on me, he is working in me to know who I am and not bother about what the dress looks like. People will criticize and insult and he might let you go through it. But No one can ever understand the work he is doing in you till he announces your victory and comeback. May God announce your victory for the world to hear in Jesus name. #midweek #midweekmotivation #stelladamasus#sdmotivates #atl #america #actor #radio #host”

Sports / Rio Olympics: Real Reasons Why Nigeria Was Defeated By Germany by ejovwovincent(f): 11:09pm On Aug 17, 2016
Nigeria has failed to qualify for the final of the football event at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Samson Siasia’s U23 team were defeated by Germany by two goals to nil. Dream Team VI will now play Honduras on Friday for the bronze medal.

Here are 6 reasons why Germany emerged victorious against Nigeria.

1. Nigeria didn’t play with cohesion. The players didn’t play as a team.

2. Nigeria lacked experience. This is the first time many of the players will be playing at this level of football.

3. Germany’s players had more quality and technicality.

4. Nigeria’s defense was porous. Germany could’ve easily scored 4 goals.

5. Etubo’s absence. Nigeria missed its highest goal scorer who was out injured.

6. They didn’t have enough support from the Nigerian government. Their stay in Brazil has been stressful due to financial constraints.

Celebrities / Jidenna’s “long Live The Chief” Album To Be Launched In Grand Style This August by ejovwovincent(f): 11:21am On Aug 13, 2016
This has to be the biggest way of releasing a debut album in history, I guess. EPIC Records/Wondaland Records in alliance with Sony Music West Africa and Sony Music South Africa are proud to announce a worldwide launch of Jidenna’s debut album “Long Live The Chief”. The Nigerian-American songwriter would be touring African continents, having album release parties and a filming documentary by BBC depicting his journey home to Nigeria.  The Classic Man singer, would be visiting Nigeria first where he would be hosting an exclusive album launch with Trace TV and also a live performance at Hard Rock Cafe in Lagos. He would also walk down memory lane when he travels to his childhood home in Enugu state where BBC international and True Africa would be on deck to hold exclusive documentary about the singer. President Epic Records, Sylvia Rhone expressed that this is the sign of good things to come for the label; “Never before have our divisions collaborated on something of this magnitude, but we are a global brand with a deep commitment to celebrating artists on the continent and throughout the African diaspora and we are so excited to begin this journey with someone as uniquely talented and as special as Jidenna” Jidenna says the road ahead is long but there is no other better way to release an album; “Launching an album like this is massive, but I wouldn’t want to do it any other way. The road ahead is long, but like the song says: Chief Don’t Run.” The singer would however, leave Nigeria for Johannesburg, South Africa where he would also be having replica album launch parties and media interviews. The singer who just released a new single “Chief Don’t Run” would be releasing visuals to the track, August 18th.
Celebrities / 6 Things Psquare Must To Do To Save Their Dying Brand by ejovwovincent(f): 11:13am On Aug 13, 2016
The saying 'two heads are better than one' holds no more truth than in the case of P-Square

1. Stop making those solo projects
Enough already. We have heard about suffering for the art but no one said that the fans have to be the ones to suffer for the foolishness of their idols. Two is better than no one holds no more truth than in the case of P-Square. As a duo, they complement each other, but we’ve seen the disaster of their solo efforts. Clearly, each is lost without the other. This explains why every solo effort from Paul’s odious, Call Heaven, to Peter’s nonsensicalLook Into My Eyes was a flop. Back to back.

2. Fire their brother.
We hate to be the ones to break up a (not so) happy home but Jude Okoye as manager of Psquare has got to go. Blood is thicker than water true, but there is a reason Beyoncefired her father Matthew Knowles as her manager when things got heavy.
There is also a reason those mom managers that used to be popular in music (Usher, Selena Gomez,) are no longer a thing. Sometimes, family should be kept separate from business for the best interests of everyone involved. Particularly with Jude who has been accused of everything from running a business with no structure, to skimming off profits and undue high handedness.

3. Get a proper management/communications team.
It should be considered an act of sabotage that a brand as strong as P-Square does not have a dependable structure when it comes to running their business. Whoever has been managing them up till now has quite frankly, been doing a less than stellar job. After 15 years in the business, the P-Square brand should by now, have evolved into a well-oiled machine consisting of various specialised compartments. Branding, communications, endorsements, bookings, etc. All information relating to the duo should be controlled and handled by professionals who know exactly what they are doing. No hacks please.

4. Delete their accounts.
Okay maybe not delete their accounts but you know the drill. It was all fun and games when Peter’s Instagram handle was where we went when we needed to get our routine fix of the body beautiful while feeding his narcissistic tendencies but by the time the account devolved to putting out deeply disturbing details of a mind on the brink of a major meltdown, we knew it was time to shut things down. Nothing wrong with tweeting bitter truths, but at least, ensure they are properly constructed. Hastily put out notices of reconciliation do not cut it either. The fans deserve authenticity, but they deserve some respect too.

5. Bring back the music.
P-Square became Nigeria’s biggest group act on account of the music. Yes, plenty of it is pure cheese, not entirely original and easily disposable, but the sound is fun, the delivery is acceptable and their videography remains unmatched. Nigeria, nay Africa loves P-Square, and will forgive them anything as long as their music and videos continue to resonate. The twins need to go back to that. A Lemonade style album wouldn’t be a bad idea but if they can’t pull that off, new material, new videos, spectacular live concerts, would be welcome.

6. Evolve or die.
Since the last time Psquare released a full album, Wizkid has emerged the biggest thing out of Nigerian music, Davido is hot on his heels and the local rappers have taken over. There is still room for our favourite duo but half-baked singles and derivative beats are no longer going to cut it. Psquare needs to come out, all guns blazing. Their sound needs to be updated, their act needs to evolve and their next project, whatever it will be, needs to be major. They better go hard or go home.
Celebrities / Tiwa Savage Mentions Husband On Roc Nation Website Profile by ejovwovincent(f): 8:41pm On Aug 11, 2016
Award winning Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, mentions estranged husband, TeeBillz, in her public profile on record label Roc Nation’s website.

Popular Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage recently bagged a record deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation label. Roc Nation has now created a profile of the Kele Kele Love singer on their website and Tiwa gives details of her start and growth in the music industry in details.

She also mentions the positive influence of her estranged husband Tunji Balogun aka TeeBillz who urged her to move back to Africa to make more of an impact over there. She refers to him professionally as ‘Tunji “TJ Billz” Balogun’ and not her husband.

“I met Tunji and he told me about the growing Afrobeats scene back home in Nigeria. He thought I was wasting my talents being a songwriter & a backing singer and pushed me to move back to Africa. At first I thought it was a bit of a step backwards but he was adamant that this was my future. He knew it was what would set me apart from the rest.

”The full profile can be found on Roc Nation’s website. What does this mean for the star couple, is there hope for reconciliation still?

Singer, Genevieve Ogbuewu popularly known as Splash has cried out, squashing rumours making rounds that she is a l esbian.

According to her, her mode of dressing which may have looked boyish could have been why people are tagging her a l esbian.

Health / How To Detect Fake Honey (it’s Everywhere), Use THIS Simple Trick by ejovwovincent(f): 9:10pm On Aug 05, 2016
Most commonly people tend to buy cheaper products in order to save some money, but you should know that those products aren’t 100% organic. For instance, when you buy the cheapest honey In the store, it means that it is not pure at all. Sadly, there are many falce advertisings that make people think whatever honey they buy is a pure one.

You should know that a lot of honey products have been through numerous alternation and contain chemical substance to lower the price.

Food safety news conducted a study which showed that 76% of all honey available in the market have been subjected to a process called ultra-filtration. Beside eliminating impurities like wax traces, this filtration process is bad because it also removes the pollen in honey.

Manufacturers claim that this process is necessary in order to prevent crystallizing and extend the shelf life of the product. However, customers do not know that actually, pollen is very important and provide a lot of benefits to our bodies.

Researchers advice to avoid this kind of honey because this process makes it hard to determine the geographical origin of the honey, and in case of pollen contamination, it is very important to trace and analyze the origin of the honey.

For example, Chinese producers process honey with the filtration process and the honey gets contaminated with illegal antibiotics and even some metal, so its origin becomes unknown.

Here are some guide to avoid purchasing honey with lack pollen:

Honey sold at KFC and McDonald doesn’t contain pollen.
Honey Winnie the Pooh which you can purchase at Walmart does not have pollen.
Avoid honey which are sold at Costco, Target and Sam’s Club because 77% of them do not have pollen.
Never buy honey sold at Walgreen’s and CVS Pharmacy as they do not contain pollen.

Beside the honey that lacks of pollen, there are other types that have been combined with glucose and others that are high in low-quality mead. Honey that are not in its purest form is called adulterated honey.

Ways to Recognize Fake Honey:

If the honey you buy does not crystalize over some time, it means that it’s not pure.
Make sure to read the labels when you buy honey because if it contains high fructose corn syrup or commercial glucose, leave it.
Prepare a mixture with a few drops of iodine and a glass of water and add some honey in it. If the color of your honey turns into blue, then it has been combined with corn starch.
Add some honey into a mixture of few drops of vinegar and a glass of water. If you see some foam, means your honey has been adulterated with plaster.
Burn your honey with a match or phosphorus and see if it ignites. Pure honey will ignites under this condition.
Pure honey does not dissolve in water, so in order to check, just add a spoon of honey into a glass of water and if it dissolves, it means that it’s not pure.

Use the guideline above when you purchase honey in order to avoid buying adulterated honey. In order to get the benefits from the honey, you need to use pure one that still contains pollen.

Jobs/Vacancies / 23 Important Interview Tips by ejovwovincent(f): 1:52pm On Aug 01, 2016
1. Arrive a little early. If you arrive about fifteen minutes before the scheduled interview time, you will have time to collect your thoughts, wipe the perspiration from your hands, and scan the lobby for current company information. You will also show your interviewer that you value his or her time.
2. Do your homework.Know the interviewer’s name and how to pronounce it (including proper title: Mr., Mrs., Dr., etc.). Know the company’s major products or services, the organization of the company (divisions, parent company, etc.), current business news about the company and the company’s major customers and competitors. You can learn most or all of this information from the company’s website, annual report or company literature.
3. Bring a Spare Copy of Your Resume in a Briefcase or Folder. This demonstrates that you are prepared. It also gives the interviewer something to take notes on.
4. Expect to Spend Some Time Developing Rapport. Personal chemistry is a main ingredient in the hiring process. Try to relax and become comfortable with the interviewer.
5. Watch Your Non-Verbal Communication. Maintain an open body posture and appropriate eye contact. Seat yourself at a reasonable distance from the other person. Smile.
6. Don’t Be Embarrassed by Nervousness. Interviewers are human, and they often become nervous, too. In fact, nervousness is a good sign – it shows that you are taking the interview seriously. Avoid nervous mannerisms such as tapping your fingers, feet, playing with pens, etc.
7. Body language is powerful! Good eye contact, a warm, natural smile and a firm handshake can help you overcome nervousness, develop a personal rapport and present a confident image.
8. Don’t Play Comedian or Try to Entertain the Interviewer. It is important to be personable, but do not overdo it.
9. Don’t Exaggerate or Lie.You might be tempted to embellish your achievements in the interview, but it will come back to haunt you on the job!
10. Follow the Interviewer’s Lead. Don’t try to take over the interview. Stick to the main subject at hand, but do not dwell too long on one point. It is better to deal with many questions rather than just one or two in-depth questions, unless that’s where the interviewer leads you.
11. Be Prepared For Personal Questions, Even Some Inappropriate Ones. Anticipate how you will handle personal questions without blowing your cool. Some interviewers may not be aware of what they can and cannot legally ask you. Be sure you understand the question. It is okay to ask for clarification.
12. Emphasize the Positive. Be frank and honest, but never apologize for lack of experience or weaknesses. You can be self-confident without being overconfident or flippant. If you are new to the job market, your lack of experience has one very positive feature: you do not have to “unlearn” bad habits or different practices learned from previous employers. Many employers like the idea that you can be taught their individual company procedures without needing to get rid of other training first.
13. Wait for an Offer to Bring Up Salary. Let the interviewer bring up this subject. Often salary and benefits are not discussed at all on the first interview. Even though everyone knows that salary is important, you do not want to give the impression that it is the only consideration. If it is, you can be easily lured away be a competitor offering a slightly higher salary. The interviewer needs to see that you are interested in the other aspects of the job like the potential for growth, learning or the challenge of the position.
14. Don’t be Afraid to Think Before You Speak. Use silence and intentional pause to your advantage. Time is occasionally needed to think and to reflect. The interviewer will respect you for taking a questions seriously enough to give it a moment or two of consideration before answering.
15. Emphasize What You Can Do For The Organization. This means emphasizing your transferable skills. However, be careful not to reveal trade secrets from a previous employer. Employers are concerned most with what you can do for them. Focus on your ability to tackle new situations, your communication skills, interpersonal abilities, analytical thinking talents, and other skills developed while in college or in previous positions.
16. Don’t give “Prepared Answers”. Most employers know a these stock answers when they hear them. This is a good reason to use interview question / answer guide as just that – guides. If your answers are not personalized to your situation, they will sound forced and unnatural. You might be surprised to learn how often interviewers hear the phrase, “I really like working with people.” The phrase is used so often that it has lost it’s meaning!
17. NEVER Speak Badly about a Former Employer. If there were problems with previous experiences, try to put your answers in the positive rather than the negative. If you slight a former employer, the interviewer may assume that you will someday do the same to him or her.
18. Watch Your Grammar and Your Manners. Employers are interested in candidates who can express themselves properly. Even if you have to slow down to correct yourself — do it! Use slang expressions very sparingly. If your knowledge of rules of etiquette are rusty, take a “refresher course” from a knowledgeable friend.
19. Be Prepared to Ask Questions. Almost all interviewers will ask if you have any questions. You should have some ready and should have at least one that is related to the conversation you have just completed. This demonstrates that you are both prepared and interested. Your questions should be related to details about the company and should be based on the information you learned from the homework you have done (see Tip #2). You should not ask questions like “How long to I have to wait before I can take a vacation?” Save those what’s-in-it-for-me questions for later.
20. Use Telephone Interviews. If you are applying for jobs in places in other states, you can suggest a short telephone interview. Even a preliminary telephone interview can help you assess whether or not it would be worth your time and expense to travel for a personal interview.
21. Don’t Expect an Immediate Job Offer. Offers usually follow the interview, a few weeks later. If you are offered the position on the spot, it is appropriate for you to ask for one or two days to think about the offer before responding.
22. Be Careful With the Closing. Do not linger. End quickly and courteously. Thank your interviewer for the interview. Smile.
23. Be Yourself! You do not want to get hired on the basis of something you are not. You want to be hired for who you are!
Fashion / Ladies, These Are 5 Tips To Ensure That Your Make-up Lasts For 24hours by ejovwovincent(f): 10:09pm On Jul 31, 2016
Have you always searched for ways to make your makeup last for really long periods? Then this is what you need to know.
Women who have oily skins don’t really fancy makeup because it turns messy after a few hours. While makeup enhances a woman’s appearance, it is important to ensure it is applied properly to give a matte finish. If you have an oily skin and cannot do without makeup, these are 5 tips to ensure you look good all day long.

1. Apply foundation before makeup. Women with an oily skin should always apply foundation before they actually make up. The foundation will cover your oily skin thus preventing the makeup from dissolving. In addition, it will fill the pores on your face and also improve your natural skin tone. It is a perfect pre-makeup tip women with oily skin should regularly practice.
2. Don’t use too much powder. You cannot blame someone with an oily skin for over using powder as this will cause any product they put on the face afterwards to last longer. However, this measure can only work for a short period but not for the whole day. If you have got an oily face, you should only apply powder on the shiny spots of your face.
3. Go oil-free. Since your skin is oily, it is advisable to avoid oily makeup products. You should also steer clear of fatty foods like chips, fries, and cheese and replace them with the consumption of more fruits and vegetables.
4. Refrain from using harsh lotions. It is important for women to know the cream that is suitable for their skin before applying them. Oily skins and harsh lotions are not friends because it doesn’t reduce the oil nor soften your skin.
5. Don’t forget your blotting papers. Blotting papers should always be in your bag if you have an oily skin. They are helpful for dabbing the face when the makeup eventually fades.
Culture / 10 Most Expensive Cultures To Marry From In Nigeria by ejovwovincent(f): 9:47pm On Jul 31, 2016
In Nigeria and in most African countries, marriage is treated with great respect and as such some cultures in Nigeria ensure that whoever comes to marry their daughters fulfill all the traditional rites to the latter. In most cases, these traditional rites can be termed as expensive cultures to marry from and so are dreaded.
Although the most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria is not restricted to just a geographic region or tribe in Nigeria, but of course the eastern part of Nigeria- the Igbo speaking region of Nigeria and also some states from the Southern part of Nigeria can be said to be some of the most expensive cultures to get a wife.
When we talk about the most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria, it refers to spending well over five hundred thousand naira to about three million or more to tick yes to all that is listed on the ‘traditional marriage list’ usually drawn by the community or kingsmen of the bride. One thing about these cultures (the most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria) is that the parents of the bride can hardly influence the list to favor their son–in-law to be.
These are the 10 most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria;

1. The Mbaise People of Imo State. The Mbaise people are found in Imo state part of Nigeria and they occupy three local government areas in Imo State (Aboh Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise and Ezinihitte Mbaise). The major cities of Mbaise people are Ezi na ihite, Ahiara. Agbaaja, Oke Uvuru. The Mbaise people are known for their quest for higher education, hence the large numbers of graduates and professionals amongst them. The Mbaise culture is amongst the most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria because of the numerous components that make up their traditional marriage list. As a matter of fact, the more educated the bride is, the more expensive the marriage list becomes.

2. The Ngwa People of Abia State. The Ngwa people are found in Abia state of Nigeria and they constitute the largest and most populous sub – ethnicity or clan in the whole of the south – eastern part of Nigeria. Any man who seeks to marry an Ngwa lady must be ready to fulfill all that is listed in the traditional marriage list. The culture of the Ngwa people is said to be amongst the most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria because of the many things the groom is expected to do for the bride’s family and for the entire community where the bride hails from.

3. The Nkpa People of Abia State. The Nkpa people of Abia state are found in Bende local government of Abia state. Marrying an Nkpa lady is truly expensive especially if you are not from Nkpa. The list for the traditional marriage rite is designed in such a way that it is cheaper for an Nkpa man that is getting married to an Nkpa lady; but if a man who is not from Nkpa is seeking for the hands of an Nkpa lady, he must be ready to organize a marriage ceremony that accommodates the entire community, and also must buy gifts not only for the parents of the bride, but also for all the kinsmen (Umu nna) and their daughters (Umu Ada). The truth is that by the time the groom is done fulfilling the list, he would have spent well over seven hundred thousand naira.

4. The Mbano People of Imo State. Mbano is a community that is located in the South eastern part of Nigeria and they are part of the Igbo people of Nigeria. Just like the Mbaise people of Imo State, the traditional marriage list of the Mbano people is said to be expensive. Although the groom must fulfill all that is listed in the marriage list, and in some cases, if the groom is wealthy, he might even be required to build a house for the bride’s parents as part of the marriage requirements.

5. The Ngwo People of Enugu State. Most of the people and culture in Enugu state seems to be very moderate when it comes to traditional marriage list for their daughters, but the Ngwo people tends to stand out of the pack. The Ngwo culture requires that any man that wants to marry their daughter must be willing to prove that he can take care of their daughter by first meeting their requirements which often is expensive. If you compare the traditional marriage list of the Ngwo people to other cultures in Enugu state, you come to the conclusion that indeed it is one of the most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria.

6. The Ikwere People of Rivers State. The Ikwere people are found in Rivers State and they are generally considered to be Igbo people because of the similarities in both their language and culture of the Igbo people. Just like the Mbaise people, when you sum up all that are required before you can take a bride from Ikwere land, you would realize that it is in excess of one million naira, hence it is amongst the most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria.

7. The Ogoja People of Cross Rivers State. The Ogoja people are found in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State. The major communities in Ogoja are Ekpogrinya,, Nwang,Esham, Nnang, Egbong, Ewinimba and Banasara. Marrying an Ogoja lady is expensive because of all that is required for the groom to fulfill before the bride can be handed over to him.

8. The Efik People of Cross Rivers State. The Efik people have a rich culture and marriage is not left out. Much more than meeting the expensive traditional marriage list, a groom is expected to organize a carnival like event for the traditional marriage especially if he is getting married to the daughter of an influential person in the town.

9. The Ibibio People of Akwa Ibom State. The Ibibio people are found in Akwa Ibom state and they are known to be hardworking people especially when it comes to the Agricultural sector. The requirements from any man who wants to take an Ibibio woman as a wife can be said to be expensive because of the numerous components that makes up the list.

10. The Annang People ofAkwa Ibom State. The Annang people are found in Akwa Ibom state and they are the second largest ethnic group in Akwa Ibom state. Any groom who intends taking a bride from the Annang people must be ready to meet fulfill the traditional marriage rites of the people and it is indeed expensive because of the loads of stuff and fees that the groom is expected buy and pay for.

There you have it 10 most expensive cultures to marry from in Nigeria. Whilst some who have found themselves the best brides in these places would pay come what may, yet others opt out as a result of the high bride list
Education / BREAKING NEWS: Govt Scraps Hnds, Merges Polys With Varsities by ejovwovincent(f): 9:34pm On Jul 31, 2016
THE Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved a comprehensive reform of Nigeria's tertiary education system, scrapping the award of the Higher National Diploma (HND) by the nation's polytechnics.
In effect, the award of the HND will be limited to only the students currently admitted for the programmes.
Also, all the programmes currently being run by the polytechnics, which are not technology-based, and which are about 70 per cent,
will be scrapped.
Under the new rule, the polytechnics will now become campuses of the proximate universities with the Vice Chancellors of those
universities appointing provosts for the polytechnics, subject to the ratification of the Universities Councils.
The polytechnics will now be limited to award of the National Diploma (ND) while those desirous of further education will be awarded
the Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) by the proximate university.
To kick-start the new policy, the nation's two most prominent polytechnics - Yaba College of Technology and Kaduna Polytechnic -
will henceforth be known as City University of Technology, Yaba and City University of Technology, Kaduna.
And to give legal teeth to these approvals, the FEC approved the submission of two Executive bills to the National Assembly for enactment into law.
With education being on the concurrent list, the states may wish to consolidate their tertiary institutions. But if they do not wish to follow the federal example, their programmes will continue to be regulated by the relevant agencies of the Federal Ministry of Education.
The first bill will concretise the setting up of the two city universities while the second will approve the preparation and consolidation
of all federal polytechnics and colleges of education as campuses of proximate universities.
The Ministry of Justice will do the preparation and submission of the two bills to the National Assembly.
Minister of Education, Mall. Adamu, told journalists after the weekly meeting of the council that under the reform measures, her ministry would, however, continue to licence private polytechnics and colleges of education for the award of qualification at ND and National Certificate in Education (NCE) levels.
She said: "There will be no more award of HND.
After we have exhausted the current students under the programme, there will be no more award of HND. This means that there will be no fresh admission for HND programmes. And in addition, any programme that is not technical will be out of the polytechnics. About 70 per cent of polytechnic graduates are in the non-technical courses. It is going to be a rigorous implementation programme."
A ministerial committee to ensure the smooth implementation of all that is required for the take-off of the reform initiatives is to begin work immediately.
Mall. Adamu said: "The HND certificate will remain a legal tender in Nigeria and holders of such certificate will continue to be recognised as the equivalent of first degree holders without discriminatory remunerations and limit to progression in the work place.
The NCE certificate will be retained as the minimum teaching qualification at the basic level of education. Any higher qualifications by
these private or state-owned polytechnics will be only affiliation with a university. So, HND is no longer in existence, but existing HND will be respected and considered legal tender."
The council also approved the Federal Government's formal take-over of the Waziri Umaru Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, which will be the College of Technology campus of the Othman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, as well as the Hussein Adamu Polytechnic, Kazaure,
Bauchi, which will be a College of Technology of the proximate university in the state.
Also, the Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, Imo State, has been taken over as a campus of the Federal University of
Technology, Owerri.
A state that had never had any federal institution, like Bayelsa, is to have a College of Technology as a campus of the College of Technology of the University of Port Harcourt.
Also, Bali, in Taraba State, is to have a college of technology as a campus of the proximate university.
Travel / 20 English Words To Avoid When In Other Countries by ejovwovincent(f): 9:10pm On Jul 30, 2016
20 English Words To Avoid When in Other Countries

If you travel abroad frequently for work, or if you have an e-commerce store with customers from all over the world, it’s worth noting that there are number of English words that, phonetically, don’t work in other countries and can lead to double entendre or unintended offence territory.

Here are 20 of them to help you ensure that your communication isn't lost in translation.

In France
1. “Preservative” Avoid asking about preservatives in France; you’ll probably be met with strange looks. It means ‘condom’ in France.

2. “Bra” Do you sell luxury underwear? Whilst you and I might initially understand the word to mean a garment that covers the breasts, if you’re in France your French colleagues might think you’re selling arms.

Literally.In Norway
3. “Pick” If you’re visiting Norway, don’t use the word‘pick’. Your Norwegian colleague is unlikely to be impressed – it means ‘dick’ over there.

4. “Fitter. Does your business specialise in fitness products? Be mindful that in Norway, the word ‘fitte’refers to a woman’s genitals.

In Turkey
5. “Peach” Going to Turkey? Avoid asking for a peach in the supermarket or anywhere else for that matter. It means ‘bastard’ in Turkish.

In Germany
6. “Gift” ‘Never look a gift horse in the mouth’, we’re told; perhaps more so in Germany where the word means ‘poison’.
7. “Latte” In Germany, latte doesn’t mean the frothy, milky concoction you get from your local Starbucks. It means ‘erect ****’ in some German quarters.

In Korea
8. “Salsa” Out for a Mexican in Korea? It’s probably best not to ask for salsa: it means ‘diarrhoea’ in Korean.

In Sweden
9. “Speed” Try not to talk about speed when in the company of others in Sweden. It means ‘fart’.
10. “Bump” If you’ve had the misfortune of a bump on your car, note that the word ‘bump’ in Swedish means ‘dump’.
11. “Speed bump” Put the above two words together and you have the phrase ‘speed bump’, which in Swedish means fart dump.
12. “Kiss” If you ask your Swedish host or hostess for a kiss, they might very well direct you to the toilets. In Swedish, the word means ‘pee’.

In Portugal
13. “Pay Day” If you’re in Portugal, refrain from singing with happiness that it’s ‘pay day’. No one will be impressed. In Portuguese it means “I farted”.
14. “Exquisite” Extend a compliment to your Portuguese host by describing something belonging to them as ‘exquisite’ and you might be met with askance looks: ‘esquisito’ in Portuguese means ‘weird’.

In Hungary
15. “Cookie” If you’re visiting Hungary, whether on business or for pleasure, avoid asking for a cookie. It means ‘small ****’ in Hungarian.

In Japan
16. “Jerry” It’s perhaps a little late for Ben & Jerry’s icecream, but if you’re in Japan, avoid using the word jerry it means ‘diarrhoea’ over there.

In Italy
17. “Tremendous” Refrain from boasting about the tremendous prices you offer your clients. In this country, ‘tremendo’ is the word for ‘terrible’.

In Netherlands
18. “Bill” Asking for the bill might raise a few guffaws in the Netherlands: ‘bil’ means ‘buttocks’ there.
19. “Lager” It might confuse your Dutch colleagues if you were to ask for a ‘lager’ when having a few drinks with them after work. Lager means ‘storage’ in Dutch.

In Spain
20. “Cool” The word cool is too close for comfort to the Spanish word ‘culo’; a crude term for ‘bum’. Best avoided.
That some words can be misinterpreted not only has relevance for those who frequently go abroad on business, but as Tictail point out, also for online businesses where ‘borderless’ transactions take place. So if you’ve often wondered why your“exquisite Madagascan chocolates” fly like hot cakes everywhere in the world except Brazil and Portugal, perhaps you now have the answer: weird, dodgy chocolates just won’t sell.

Bra. Do you sell luxury underwear? Whilst you and I might initially understand the word to mean a garment that covers the breasts, if you’re in France your French colleagues might think you’re selling arms. Literally.

Italy
Tremendous. Refrain from boasting about the tremendous prices you offer your clients. In this country, ‘tremendo’ is the word for ‘terrible’.

Netherlands
Bill. Asking for the bill might raise a few guffaws in the Netherlands: ‘bil’ means ‘buttocks’ there.

Lager. It might confuse your Dutch colleagues if you were to ask for a ‘lager’ when having a few drinks with them after work. Lager means ‘storage’ in Dutch.

Spain
Cool. The word cool is too close for comfort to the Spanish word ’culo’; a crude term for ’bum’. Best avoided.
