Not to mention the conquest of Spain by the Muslims
PoliticsRe: What Is “sub-saharan Africa” Exactly? by ektbear: 3:39pm On Jul 13, 2012
Also, the Islamic conquests of North Africa

This was around ~700AD or so? + or - 100 years I guess

shymmex: And how's North Africa more historically connected to Europe, and Middle-East?

After the dark ages (the renaissance) - YES!

Before that, there was no North Africa... Everyone came to Timbuktu, and the same people from Timbuktu were the ones who colonized Southern Europe..

Books are there for everyone to read - but linear thought process and selective reading won't allow you guys to do that smh..
Read about Carthage, Hannibal, etc...

The rise of the Roman Empire

Surely you studied these topics in high school/college

People are by nature lazy

If I hear a guy named "Sergiy Korolevsky", I will by default assume that he is Russian.

When technically, he could be Ukrainian, Polish, hold Kazakh citizenship, etc

Surely I shouldn't have to discover which village this hypothetical Sergiy was born in before we can engage in business, yes?

Let's stop making life tedious and annoying unnecessarily
PoliticsRe: What Is “sub-saharan Africa” Exactly? by ektbear: 3:31pm On Jul 13, 2012
ok, so what if I don't know the person's country, ethnic group, village, etc?

But I can tell from their accent that they are from the part of Africa where black people rule?

How should I describe such a person?
PoliticsRe: What Is “sub-saharan Africa” Exactly? by ektbear: 3:30pm On Jul 13, 2012
All of these touchy, overly sensitive black Africans sef

sub-Saharan, wahala dey

even black Africa, wahala day

Instead he wants me to name the man's tribe, clan, village, and grandfather's third wife

PoliticsRe: What Is “sub-saharan Africa” Exactly? by ektbear: 3:25pm On Jul 13, 2012
anyway, let us just call it black Africa, since this is what seems like it will make everyone happy

But then if a white man says "black Africa", then you'll call him racist too for that

So which term will make you all satisfied?
PoliticsRe: New Petroleum Industry Bill: North To Pay More For Fuel by ektbear: 3:23pm On Jul 13, 2012
Government shouldn't be setting prices

anyway, regarding "add their transportation cost", that is exactly the point
North Africa was never occupied by black Africans, the Berbers, Coptics, Tuaregs, Romans, Jews, Greeks, Phoenicians, Persians, Arabs, Turks have all been a part of North Africa. The early Black settlers came via Juba in South Sudan and west Africa (north Nigeria, Mali, etc) as slaves.
Very correct. North Africa is more connected historically to Southern Europe and the Middle East than to black Africa.

edicolove: What annoys me about black Africa is that they are trying to liberate themselves through "reverse propaganda" instead of through their achievements. You have to earn your respect, not have it handed over to you on a platter. We cant even produce yam pounding machine (for our own food) or tooth pick and we are crying about racism. If i were oyibos, i might only use you guys as house boys until you start using your heads!

the optimality/goodness of this particular strategy is independent of my physical location relevant to the events. It is either the right tactic, or it is not

If you want to make a decision whether to buy stock X or not, surely you won't decide to buy that stock only if your financial advisor also holds shares in the company

You aren't allowed to renounce Nigerian citizenship unless you have another as well.

and if you do, then there is no real reason to renounce it. It doesn't cost you anything.
