If there were state police, this type of stuff would never happen. Police would actually be responsive to bandits. But when the policeman is the cousin of the bandit, then it is worse than having nothing at all. |

This is not a time to play politics. Disappointing words from Bisi Akande |
Everyone wins. So let's get it done already. |

The language of more practical use, English. |
My Yoruba brothers and Igbo neighbors, this is worthless. There are bigger fish to fry in Nigeria. Leave this one alone. |
Interesting. |
Lmao This thread has become very funny ![]() |
10+ years later, Tinubu's vision of electricity for Lagos appears to be coming to pass. Better late than never. |
on DECEMBER 27, 2011 · in ENERGY | 12:10 am By KUNLE KALEJAYE The Federal and Lagos State governments are collaborating on the establishment of a 700 Mega Watt, mw power barges in various parts of the state to provide emergency power solutions within the next one year. Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Taofik Tijani, who disclosed this recently, said Lagos was chosen by the Federal Government for the establishment of the power barges because the state had all the facilities and infrastructure for transmission and supply of power to the national grid. “Work has started and we have visited the areas, basically, around Ijora, Akoka and Egbin, where they are going to deploy these power barges. There is a joint committee of Federal Government and Lagos State Government on power projects development. There have been a lot of engagements between officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and the Federal Ministry of Power. As we go along, the emergency power solutions will be actualised very soon. We have all these collaborations in an effort to achieve a stable power supply for Lagos State,” he said. The commissioner stated that his ministry was also collaborating with the British Department for International Development, DFID, and the World Bank for the provision of support services to both his ministry and the Lagos State Electricity Board. He added that a group of investors led by Califco Group has planned to inject about $2 billion (N320 billion) into a project that would see significant improvement in power generation in Nigeria by 2000MW within the next five years. “Hopefully, when the ongoing power reform is completed, Lagos State will get the distribution permit to supply power from the captive power plant at Marina to parts of Victoria Island. It was a very good engineering feat, completed on record time and working perfectly well. It is a thermal plant being run by Compressed Natural Gas, CNG. The Alausa plant is about to be completed with an intention to supply 10MW to Alausa Secretariat and all adjoining areas,” he said. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/12/fg-lagos-to-establish-700mw-power-barges/ |
Heh, this Benjamin Obiajulu Aduba sounds like a bit of a douchebag. |

Oyb, don't get me wrong. I believe in freedom of religion. Everyone can pick whichever religion they like. Or choose to be not-very-excited about religion, like me. Or even no religion at all. But that doesn't mean we have to pretend that all religions are the same, or everyone is somehow worshiping the same guy, etc. It makes no sense. I understand why people are doing this. It is easier to pretend as if there are no differences than to try to understand them. But sometimes you have to choose the hard path rather than the easy road. And I think that this is one of those times. |
worm:Absolute rubbish. Wetin concern Jesus Christ with some Arab religion invented ~600 years after his death? Lol. Jesus is also homies with Shiva, goes golfing with the Aztec gods on the weekends ![]() |
Sweetnecta:Err. To be quite blunt, only the crappy, backwards countries on this planet belong to allah. None of the ones anyone actually wants to live in "belong to" him, whatever that means. Certainly pleasant places like the US, Canada, UK, Germany have minimal interest in this Allah fellow who you worship. And God-forsaken lands like Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Niger Republic, Northern Nigeria, Sudan, he is quite popular. So in only a figurative sense (one which only those who share your religion can possibly believe) is what you say true. As to whether Nigeria belongs to Allah. . . well, a large # of people (me included) will dispute that. |
When the Israelis and Americans enter this country and then have him on their watch list, perhaps he will learn to shape up. If he lacks the sense to say what is right, maybe the fear of death will instill it in him. |
If I ever hear someone say "Islam is not in support of violence" again, I will give that person a dirty slap. Actions speak louder than words. And if you use weasely language like the above phrase (as the Sultan did) rather than condemning the actions in the strongest terms, then you are implicitly supporting the crimes. They should have stoned the man to death after he said words like this. |
All of this Yoruba/Igbo stuff is tiresome. There are more important matters to attend to in Nigeria. |
That may be. I'm not extremely religious myself. Nevertheless, if the answer to the question is "NONE of the ABOVE" (as you suggest) and thus both A and B are incorrect, that still doesn't mean that A and B are the same. |
At the rate this is going, he will indeed have to lament the unity of Nigerian Muslims, since they'll be in several different countries. |
Medical doctor, lawyer, investment banker, MBA, or some other similarly prestigious and lucrative career. I kind of want to marry a woman who will make money comparable to the amount I'll earn, not substantially less. |
@hercules07: You should read the book "The Last Battle" by C.S. Lewis before if you haven't done so before. It is very dangerous to pretend as if everything is one. |
I do not worship any God called allah. Any Christian who claims to worship a God named allah is very confused. You cannot simultaneously believe in both the Bible and Koran. They are two inconsistent texts. If you believe in the God of one, then you cannot believe in the God of another. There is nothing wrong with people having different beliefs. But it is pure dishonesty to claim that these different beliefs are all the same. I have no clue why you are doing this. If Allah is the same as the Christian God, then so is Baal, Vishnu, Zeus, Thor, etc. |
His scrawny neck should be snapped and his head cracked open like a walnut. He is a very big fool. |
abes:Dumbest post ever. When you find "crazy christians" blowing up religious buildings on the most holy day of that religion, then you would have a point. These false equivalences of yours are complete and utter bullsh1t. |
And yes, I am aware that native Arab speakers, for them they use the word "Allah" for God. But when a Christian Arab uses this term, they are using to refer to the God of the Bible. When a Muslim Arab uses this term, they are referring to some other being. Certainly not the God whose only begotten son is Jesus. In any case, to my knowledge the fraction of native Arab speakers in Nigeria is miniscule, so don't give me that sh1t about Christian Arabs or whatever. |
In one breath, Nigeria belongs to Allah. In the next, blowing up churches in the name of this same Allah. Only a fool will then try to pretend that a Christian and these "Allah" worshippers then serve the same God. Or which God do you know commands his followers to blow up their own churches? Get the fvck out of here with that nonsense. It is a semantic bullshit game people try to play to blur differences instead of seeking to understand them. There is no one named Allah in the Bible. |
hercules07:The God I know of has no name like Allah. |
Perhaps GEJ again in 2015 is the best option for those who want Nigeria to remain one. No to any northerner, though. |
TTC is in the city of Toronto. And its riders are Canadian. So it can charge quite a bit more money per ride than Lagos can . . . This obviously affects how much money you can spend on cars. I don't understand how this very basic and obvious point is not crystal clear to you. |
